Staff seemed friendly enough initially, however I'm extremely disappointed with the distinct lack of care for customer service. I purchased a size small adult licensed tee that appears to be exclusive to the store. It fit after purchase, once I washed and dried according to the washing instructions however, the shirt was substantially smaller. As you can guess it no longer fits. While I am aware that the receipt indicates apparel can only be returned in the exact state it was purchased, this is a ludicrous policy given that there was no indication on the garment, or in-store that it was not pre-shrunk cotton—an important aspect that often determines the size that should be purchased. Essentially this equates to a faulty product because even at low heat (care instructions), it shrinks. A lot. Now I have a shirt I paid $25+ tax for that I can't wear. A shirt that I like a great deal and just wanted to exchange for a medium. When speaking to staff on the phone, I was told there was nothing he could do, and that I could speak with his manager who was not in that day, but could do so the next day as both of them would be in. I head in the next day (today) and speak to him again. He says the manager just left to go to the bank and might be back in 20 minutes. I say I can wait, so in the meantime we go and discuss the shirts. Again, he says he can't do anything and is really lackadaisical about it telling me how they can't send it back, so they can't exchange it. He even went so far as to tell me that he wears large shirts and found it surprising that I would even fit into a small in the first place. Ignoring this blatant insult I tell him that most of my other clothes are medium, and due to recently losing 40 lbs, they are all too large and I am buying smaller clothes that fit—I honestly shouldn't have to even bring that up. Way to insult your customers. So I decided that I was going to buy the other shirt anyway (that's how much I like the shirt) and I ask if they can provide me with head office contact so I can speak with someone there on the matter to determine if there is a better resolution to this customer service issue. He proceeds to tell me there is a contact form on the website, and that the head office number they have is only for store use. He also says they can't provide me with an email address. Around this point another fellow arrives, and I don't know if this guy was the manager or not because the first guy "helping" me doesn't indicate so, nor does the other guy acknowledge my presence in any way other than to echo policy back to the first guy when overhearing what is being discussed. I get that you're following policy, but the fact is the company policy is indicative of an intent to poor customer service. You're not willing to stand behind the product you sell by acknowledging that it could be better, or that a key aspect could be communicated in some manner to the customer. Instead with both the way employees act towards customers and the obvious lack of any organizational customer service vehicle beyond a contact form, you are showing that you're far from customer-centric. So, I'm sending this to said contact form and hope someone in this company can provide some decent customer service. At this point, I will give my forthcoming business to someone more deserving. Based on how future interactions with the company go, I'll be back to update this review.
Have been to this store on multiple occasions to shop for vinyl records. Every time I’ve been to this store, I have been approached by an older gentleman who works there. Each interaction has been extremely un-inviting and condescending. Not only is he not respecting social distancing policies put in place by his own company (following us around the store, cleaning the record stacks that I am actively looking at), he has also told me that I should not be browsing, and should just tell him what I am looking for. Seriously? I have never walked out of a store on so many different occasions due to the same employee. I WILL NEVER return to this store and have actually opted to drive to the St Laurent location, who has offered great customer service at each visit. Do not recommend.
The prices and products are awesome. My issue was with the older gentleman at the cash register. Before helping me and another woman, he made a very sexist remark about women marrying rich and famous men that made both of us visibly uncomfortable. When it was my turn to be ringed up, he ignored me and talked to a customer that was already being helped by another employee. I tried to make small talk about the holidays and some items I liked in the store, but he continued to talk to the other customer. He treated the woman before me in a very similar manner. The other employees were very nice and helpful. The older gentleman I felt was very rude and made me and another woman very uncomfortable with his loud, sexist remarks and overall attitude. Overall the store is great.
I LOVE RECORD STORES!!!:))) and worked in many. And I love fun cool environments! But not this one. Everytime I go in I'm left feeling deflated. The customer service is beyond terrible. When I ask for help finding a band and a shirt size, 3 people behind the cash all either ignored me or looked at me like I have no face. I bought stuff, but might return everything just because I feel so depressed since interacting with these people. They took the fun out of my fun purchases.
Front entrance is plastered with 9 signs all saying not to bring in food or drink. Store is dead empty. The merchandise looks good in the store. Couldn’t find 2 top 10 artists. Asked the 1 employee in the store if they carry the artists. Shakes his head at me. I ask him why they wouldn’t carry them and says that he’s not in charge of ordering. Thanks Mr. Sarcastic. No offer to order a CD or direct me to a website. :-| Got out of there right quick.
They have a good selection, variety of products, and friendly, knowledgeable staff, but I find that their movies (DVDs especially) are overpriced. I found a DVD that was priced the same as the Blue Ray version. I was hoping that maybe there would be hidden discounts at the checkout, but no such luck. I love stopping in and browsing whenever I'm at the mall, but it's maybe not the best spot for bargain hunters.
The store itself is a little hard to navigate through yourself. If you are looking for something specific, it's best to ask someone who works there. I had to wait in line to ask the cashier for assistance. Nothing like waiting in line to be told that they can order it online... I could have done that too in the first place.
My favorite place to go shopping, If you like good old classic in music and moviea they have alot of t-shirt, posters and dvd, they have gameboard of quality from a tones of show and movie like GoT or Rick and Morty and and all the price are justified. Perfect for a gift .
My visit to sunrise records was a blast from the past. It was so nice to see you all the CDs and vinyl for sale. They also have a wide variety of other fan memorabilia. Located in Ottawa's Place d'Orleans, Sunrise Records is a very nice place to visit.
Sunrise Records was great. I visited the Place d' Orleans location it was nice to see some of the HMV staff whom which I used to order all of my movies from in the past. They had a great sale going on for 4K and blu-ray movies.
Wasn't the greatest service or anything but I love that there is still a record store around. Maybe I am just old fashioned but I still love the hardcopy of albums. #support your local record stores
very good store, a lot of choices, only bad thing: some ''desjardins debit card'' won't work and they will blame it on you, happen to me 2 times in 4 months (card work everywhere else beside there)
They have a decent selection of vinyl records and I have found albums here I could not locate anywhere else. Just find the staff aren't the friendliest, but still worth it to shop there.
Selection was somewhat limited and pricing not the best, but ability to find vinyl records at a store near me was nice. Employees just stood behind the til and chatted with each other.
Love that music shop in the Orleans shopping centre. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 stars is because Sunrise don't sell some of my favorite artists (like Radiohead).
Didn't have everything I was looking for. Last album of Tool was not there, they should make an effort to carry all the bands that are still not on any streaming services.
I’ve been record shopping here since the early 90s when it was HMV. Sunrise has kept the store alive and well with a great selection of Vinyl. Wish they did Vinyl trade
I dont go often anymore, but when i do, i always get the same courteous service. Great job, guys. I bought 2 c.d.s. The Breeders-Last Splash, and Mumford & Sons- Delta.
I understand why these stores are dying out. Over priced on just about everyrhing. Records are always scratches and poor quality, and they more junk then records.
Although there was a good selection, I found most items such as cds, movies, vinyl records, etc. were way overpriced. Did not purchase anything as a result.
Great experience, friendly staff and they take COVID very seriously. Lots of great DVD's and box sets of many TV shows and movies. Lots of selection.
Very organized and easy to navigate. Knowledgeable and friendly staff! Thank you for helping us with our last minute father's day shopping ☺️
Sunrise is always amazing, I remember when this location when it was HMV but it's so much better now and the selection is massive!!
Fantastic place. Staff are very knowledgeable and always friendly and helpful. Great selection of products. Well worth the visit!
It's nice to know that there is a place where you can buy vinyl and stuff. And the manager is a very pleasant person to talk to.
They have a good selection on music & movies. The T-shirts are in short supply and the larger sizes in shorter supply.
Replaced HMV. Pretty much the same as before except they carry more exclusive materials. Lots of LP records available
Literally any other record shop in the region is better. Pretentious brand that claims to be "your local record shop"
Kinda place you'll find a gem just waiting for you. Records needing a good home. Prices are reasonable. Recommended.
Friendly staff, and I love the store set up. Good sales, good selection of vinyl and 80s and 90s TV shows on DVD.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff willing to do anything for a good customer a rare thing these days
Très bon service. Vaut vraiment la peine. Personnel super accueillant et emplacement très propre!
Lots to choose from and great staff! I'll be shopping there again next time I'm back that way.
Couldn't find the CD that I was looking for, other then that great selection of CD's and vinyl
Based on the arrows on the floor, plan your trip before you go in. You can't backtrack at all.
Great to see vinyl making a comeback. Decent selection hopefully will continue to expand.
Knowledgable staff, helped me find something and I didn't even know what I wanted lol
Incredible selection and excellent covid measures! I feel very safe shopping here
There's a ton here. Always super helpful to ask the staff. They know! Trust me!
