So much interesting history in one small building! I recently enrolled in a flight dispatcher program, so while on my trip to Calgary I visited this museum. Unfortunately a portion of the museum is closed due to weather damage to the roof, but they are offering admission at a discount to make up for it. There is fascinating Canadian aviation and military history in the museum and lots of restored or remodelled aircraft from the past century. It is also very close to the Calgary airport itself and directly across from Tim Hortons, so you can grab a coffee and spot some planes after your visit. Great for kids too, there were volunteers going around with school groups showing them how everything works.
My visit to The Hangar Flight Museum was more than just a trip down memory lane; it was a heartwarming journey back to the times when my late husband, Wilfred, used to take me there. The museum's collection of aircraft and the passion of its staff brought tears of joy to my eyes. Each exhibit felt like a cherished chapter in our life together, and I left with a heart full of fond memories. This museum is a place that celebrates history, innovation, and, most importantly, the enduring love I had for Wilfred. If you're seeking a place to connect with the past and relive beautiful memories, this museum is a must-visit.
Haven't been since I came here for a school field trip many years ago; it amazed me today just as much as it did back then. Unfortunately the second building wasn't accessible due to some roof issues (this is where half of the museum is stored, including the Lancaster), but they offered some discounts and as we had prepaid, gave us a pass so we could come back later and view. Thoroughly enjoyed the history and variety of planes they store there, would recommend to anyone who is even remotely interested in aviation.

As it was father's day we have been there and to my surprise it was free for father's .It's worth going there. We had such a great time knowing about and watching the flights of yester years. And the great brains behind who build the flights and rockets. Each flight is a live example. Besides, there was Helicopter tours for 10 min. Any of your family member can sit take ride on the helicopter. Fantastic Ariel view experience of Calgary. Don't miss it. Museum staff was so polite and helpfull.

This place is awesome!!!! ...and I didn't even get to really see the Lancaster Bomber (the one plane I REALLY came to see) because the hanger got torn apart by the wind and as a result half the museum was closed. I WILL be back soon, but I'll be checking ahead if that other building has been reopened. As it was, I ate up all the time I had (nearly 4 hours) in only half to two thirds of the exhibits. ...but to be fair, I'm a bit of an aviation nerd. Great job team!!! Great job indeed!!

We have been here several times, the school programs are excellent, especially as part of a flight unit in grade 6. The evening program you can book for a group is also excellent, the docents are extremely knowledgeable and are mainly volunteers. We have also come during the day as a family and the number of planes in both the Hangar and the tent are amazing, with a replica of the Silver Dart (Canada's first airplane), up through the first and second world wars is amazing g to see.

Easily one of the best aircraft museum experiences I've had. The staff here is very passionate about history and are excited to share it with you. John, a volunteer, gave us all a tour of the museum and walked us around, teaching us about the unique history of each aircraft and its place in the history of Canada. He was very passionate and kept it intesting. I will be returning to visit from the States every time I come into the country.

While on a work trip to Alberta this last week I had time to spare on Sunday so came here while I was waiting for my hotel room. I'm glad I did. I'm a huge aviation and student of WW II history. This museum is a fantastic hidden gem with a great collection and knowledgeable volunteers. Their engine collection is one of the better ones that I have seen. A must see for aviation fans who find themselves in Calgary.

Fantastic spot. Love that you can buy tickets online or in person now. Once inside it’s spacious and informative, a mix of old and new exhibits. The kids loved going in and out of the WestJet training cabin, I loved all the engines upstairs. The women’s bathroom is AMAZING with the anteroom. Nursing? Overstimulated? Kids just need a reset? Perfect space. We had snacks on the picnic table outsideunder the helicopter before heading into the tent hangar to see even more.
My kids love the planes so we were looking forward to this visit. The museum is open from 10 am till 4 pm. Great collection to see inside & touch the history by this way. Unfortunately, the hangar outside was closed on that day. We were offered 20% discount or the pass for another day. As we couldn’t come back, we took the discount. The staff is helpful & friendly.

My first visit to this museum. Friendly and helpfull staf + easy parking in front of the museum. Sadly the museum aircraft display in the main hangar is tightly packed together making good pictures nearly impossible. I am an aviation photographer and I came especially for the museum Douglas DC-3. Luckily the staff was able to help me get some pictures of it, while the building was temporarily off limits to the public...many thanks for that.
Great little aviation museum that does a great job of telling Canada's aviation history through most of the 20th century. A collection of really nicely restored vintage aircraft on display, both civilian and military. The outdoor fabric hangar was closed due to weather damage when I visited, but it is expected to be repaired later this year.

This museum is a wonderful little hidden gem in Calgary. I stopped by here right before my flight out, and it was very much worth the trip. They have two hangar areas with all varieties and sizes of airplanes. Some planes even have a small ladder next to them so you’re able to go up and see the cockpit. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with an interest in aviation and/or aviation history.
an excellent place to come and learn about aircraft history for both the adults and kids. it's absolutely superb for the kids. A great family outing. location is just North of McKnight off of Deerfoot easy location to find and lots of available parking. they have a wonderful store where you can buy toys Maps posters models everything you can think of in regards to airplanes and aircraft history.
Absolutely loved this flight museum. My husband is a big fan of airplanes and cars and this place was like a perfect place for our weekend getaway. We just enjoyed learning the history of Canadian aircrafts . Plus : Ticket is just $15 per person and they also offer helicopter rides for $100 per person.

Amazing museum to look at planes and see Canadian history in general. Great place for the family and great service. Not busy and lots of staff ready to help you and tell you things. The only thing is that there is no restaurants nearby but other than that a great museum!

Came here for the candlelit concert. It's an interesting place with different airplane displays. I read about one fighter who died at age 22. He was a student in the University of Calgary before being a fighter jet pilot. Washroom could be cleaned better

Took my 11 year old here and had a lot of fun. If you or your kids love planes, you'll enjoy this place. Lots of history, don't be afraid to ask the staff on the floor questions... they'll have the answers! Now my son wants to learn to fly ...lol

This place is a great place to visit with kids! It's a mix of educational and interactive. There's an aisle of a WestJet plane that you can sit in. There's a large selection of old planes that you can see, as well as engines of all kinds. We will surely be back! The gift shop is reasonable as well.
Most of the museum was closed. You fligh an Australian Flag out side but don't recognise Allied Service personnel, very sad. Had to pay for nothing really. You should give military discounts to Allied forces.

Taking the advantage of Family Day free entrance, we visited this museum with our grandkids. It's a great experience for all of us, especially the opportunity for kids to seat in a plane! The volunteers were so good in explaining the operation to the kids. It's worth for the wait at a long lineup.
Cool place, some exhibits were unavailable at the time we visited, such as the outside/hangar part and some of the inside attractions. Not the largest museum and a few of the models/attractions were not labeled.

Inexpensive, and is as advertised: a lot of planes, and fun details. Not a lot of interactive exhibits for kids, and the one building was closed (which they did give us a discount for). Maybe that would have helped? Was fine, though.

Tickets cost about 30 CAD. The museum is rich in artefacts (airplanes and stuff like that). Every artefact has an explanatory note and helps the tourist with understanding the story behind each plane or artefact. Don't forget to see the planes in the hangar!!
Nice museum of old Canadian aircrafts. You get to see the structures and also manifold engine types. Pretty darn interesting if you’re an engineer or an aircraft aficionado.

It’s ok, coming from UK I guess I’ve been spoilt by the air museums and collections we have there, this is average at best by comparison with a pretty small collection of aircraft, could do so much better given Canadian aviation history.

A great little gem located at the south end of the YYC Airport. Vintage aircraft through jets, and helicopters they have it all. A great place for a couple hours. The volunteers are very engaged and informative about thier museum.
This is a nice little museum. It's definitely much less interactive than it used to be in so much as you can't touch as much. Currently the giant hanger is closed so they are missing a lot of planes. My kids really like it though.
This is a small museum compared to the Seattle flight museum. But still it has some interesting exhibits. When I was there the hanger was closed. But I got a discount for that.
