My boyfriend and I went there this past Saturday around 2 pm as we had had a busy morning/afternoon and hadn't had time to eat lunch. Since it was getting close to supper we didn't order entrees and decided just to have a couple of drinks an appetizer to share. The place wasn't very busy, maybe just over a half dozen patrons apart from ourselves. When we were seated it took about 10 minutes for a server to come see us. We immediately placed our drink order and when she returned with the drinks we ordered the clamari which is new on the menu. Well, we finished our pints and ordered another and we nearly halfway though our second pint and the food had STILL not arrived. I thought they had forgotten about us. It must have taken at least 50 minutes to be served the calamari. I was about to cancel the order but out came the server with the food but without an apology or even recognizing the fact that it had taken so long to be served. Thank god we didn't order entrees! To be fair, the calamari was very good but based on the service I won't be back anytime soon.

My sports team and our kids (12 ppl total) went after our game. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Another 10 minutes for our food orders to be taken. Another 40+ minutes for the food to arrive. (All but one order which surprisingly arrived after only 20 minutes so he ate alone so he could enjoy it hot) Asked for ketchup. She forgot. Had to go find and remind her. It was not busy. She was just standing around. Only one chef in kitchen. But that wasn't the problem...our food was ready...nobody bothered to bring it to us. Random staff would find our drinks and food orders and bring them over... Kids waiting over an hour for food is a little ridiculous. Then the bills took another 5-10 minutes...and she forgot the machine. Honestly don't know why we didn't just cancel our orders and leave but we won't be going back. They have lost a weekly team visit for the rest of the summer.

We were really disappointed by our visit tonight. This is mid-COVID, the bar is shoulder to shoulder with customers. The tables are separated, which is good as it meant we had no neighbours within two meters. But the bar itself was packed. I also saw customers going to the washroom with no masks even though unless actually seated, you should have a mask. The waitress seemed disinterested in us, we were sat by the kitchen and could see our food waiting under the hot lamps, and could see the cook ringing the bell *many* times. Eventually the manager brought our food as the waitress was too busy talking to another customer to actually serve us. The food was really good, I would have liked more but the quality is excellent. Will we be back? Not sure. Maybe post-COVID, and maybe when the waitress actually pays more attention to other customers.

With our eldest home from University, we decided the family should go out for a bite to eat, 5 in total. Food was ok, not over friendly service and did not come back during meal to see if we needed anything. They did ask at the end of our meal if it wverything was ok, lol. There were only 4 tables being used at the time we were there, so really no excuse for our server not to check in on us. I was the only one who ordered coffee, 2.75 for a tiny cup and no refills. I probably should have asked, but no servers were in sight. This was our first visit to this location and likely our last.

Great little Irish pub. Fairly quiet most nights. Most of the food is fairly hearty. Recently had the London dip on the advice of the server...it was good. Caeser was a legitimate salad, not the lettuce and croutons drowning in dressing you get some places. Great beer selection, and unlike the next closest pub option, serves beer by the pitcher. Server even gave us the pint discount(turns out it was on special that night), but brought it out as pitchers. In the summer there is a smallish patio, and unfortunately it is very close to a busy pseudo highway which does affect the auditory environment some. That said, it is my current watering hole and see no reason why that will change.

This was an awful experience. We went here for lunch and by minute 55 we asked for our order to go because we still hadn’t gotten our food. It took 30 mins just to get our beer and water brought to us. We had an incident were the beer spilt all over we had other customers helping us because no staff was found. The food was really good which is such a shame because the service and entire experience was so horrible we will not be back. The server seemed barley apologetic for the entire experience, no effort was made on anyones behalf to correct the situation. Just overall would not recommend

Service was really sub-par. We're pretty easy going and have worked in the restaurant industry, so we're pretty understanding of the hectic nature of the work. On Canada Day, an employee blocked the intersection coming into the shared parking lot, acting as a parking monitor, and charged those coming in for Clarke Park events $10. At the point of my entry, all parking spots associated with the Royal Oak were filled, so they were in fact charging for the parking spots of other businesses as most of us coming in ended up parking in spots towards the back, past the RBC. Very dishonest of them as many would assume they were associated with the Clarke Park events for that day.

Came in at 4pm for lunch after doing nails. First time returning after about a year and Im appalled at the experience. Server dropped off food with no napkins... and never returned. Got our own napkins. Spinach and artichoke dip was super sour and didnt taste anything like it did previous. We were so hungry we ate most of it anyway since the sever never bothered ask if everything was okay. The tacos were a sloppy mess and oozed liquid everywhere. Sooooo soggy The only thing good was the booze. But you cant really mess that up. Will not be returning. Shame the patio opens tomorrow.

Wing Night!!! Used to go every single Monday and some Wednesday’s. Stopped for a month. Went last night and was greeted by a lady who requested our ID (with a big pinch of attitude). Me and my friend respectfully told her we don’t have ID but we’re not drinking, just here for wings! She then goes on to give some more attitude and tells us we can’t be there and to leave immediately. Unsure if their management has taken over, but as a regular I will NEVER go back to the Barrhaven Location. @ Management, if new, do better.

My sister and I decided to come by for a few drinks last evening. When we got there, we were welcomed with smiles and told to sit wherever we would like. Our waitress (I didn’t get her name, but she was a slim female with her hair in a tight bun) was beyond amazing! She made sure our drinks were full, and even though it got busier and busier as the night went on, she always made sure we were taken care of. By the end of the night, it was very busy and all the staff held their composure and made sure everyone was satisfied. I hope their bosses know how great their employees are!

The Turkey Bree Sandwich was absolutely delicious. Through no fault of the restaurant, which had my SkiptheDishes order finished super promptly - the delivery driver proceeded to drive down to Manotick and make 3 other stops including picking up more food while I waited almost an hour for my order, and it arrived cold. I am very miffed to see a Skip driver compromising the restaurant's reputation - because they have to honor a certain time period for your food. Regardless - the food was delicious and very well packed. I will definitely eat here again, just not via Skip.

I've been coming here for 8 years. I'm a business owner who's business has been decimated over the past 2 years with government lockdown mandates. I lost 80% of my business and those who lost nothing thought it was a good idea to poke fun at us. Tonight was comedy night. They had a ball making fun of those of us who lost our businesses and those who supported freedom. They actually mocked freedom. If it wasn't for us citizens fighting for freedom and taking rubber bullets to our bodies, you wouldn't be up there on stage doing your pitiful act right now!

Rude staff. The service awful not explaining what choices you have. Not asking anything helpful. The drinks where almost thrown at the table. The food OK but still the dips and the sides made from artificial components, unhealthy. Got to this restaurant after going for more than 8 years at the one in Kanata but it doesn't compare one with the other. At the end the rudeness of the server was incredible and even I told him so he continued I do not advise anyone to go to this restaurant it was the worst experience I had at a restaurant in Ottawa area.

To be honest everything was just meh. We had hummus and veggies (which looked like a kid made it) wings and nachos with 2 drinks and it was 100 for subpar food. Everything was just meh. So next time I'll take my money elsewhere. I read through reviews before I went in and still gave it a try. Everyone's reviews on the service and food was correct. We won't be back

Not a busy night, ordered a steak and mushroom pub pie, pub pie from a pub, should be a safe bet! 40 minute wait, not sure if I would get it, but decided to wait…. Chips were warm, pie was cold, fresh out of the fridge, not what I expected after a 40 minute wait. Returned it, didn’t want to wait another 40 so I told them to forget it. « Oh, Ok! » …. My wife ordered salad through Skip the Dishes and specifically requested extra salad dressings, which weren't included with her order. When she called the restaurant to let them know, both staff members she spoke with were extremely dismissive of her, implied she was lying about her issue and justified their mistake because 'it's very busy in here tonight'. If you want people to support local businesses when times are hard, then YOU support people who are loyal customers.

Service was amazing, but everything fried tasted like fish (nacho chips with the spinach dip, fries, onion rings, pub chips). There should be a designated fish fryer, or a more frequent oil change because disliking fish is not only common, it's also an allergen. Service was super kind and attentive (much appreciated), and non-fried items were delicious. Deep fried foods were unfortunately, reminiscent of Sea World.

Accommodated a group of us for dinner. About 12 people and one baby. Was a monday in February so most of us had half priced wings and 2 for 1 fish n chips. Food came quickly and was ok quality. Had tried to arrange appetizers in advance but really just ordered once we got there to keep the large table from growling tummies waiting for some of the later arrivals.

On Canada Day, they pretended to be parking monitors for the Clarke park fair. They asked everyone to pay 10$ and they stated that the proceeds would be going to the fair when in fact they were employees of Royal oak.

Went with our softball team after the game, brought my son. We ordered a soft drink and ice cream sundae. Took about an hour for the sundaes which only came after we complained and never got the drinks at all. The one good thing was we got free nachoes for the team, having no drink and eating jalapenos wasn't overly pleasant

We have been getting takeout from here, as I was craving a French Dip - their London Dip hit the spot. Fantastic presentation on all their food, even when packed Togo. We also enjoy their pita platter. They give you enough food to have a nice little midnight snack later as well. My new favourite Barrhaven restaurant!

My husband and I recently started going here and forgot how nice it is to have such friendly staff welcome you like you have been going there for ages. food is great pub food. We now travel further to go here rather than travel 5 minutes to our local pub which lacks this type of service.

The food there is terrible stay away from it, ive come in on multiple occasions and have had bad experiences the last few times we've gone, so we've all agreed not to go back. besides that the service is okay but is very slow even though the place is empty. Definitely recommend you not to go to this place.

Visited on St Paddy's Day and they had great live music. The food was 3/5. The flatbread pizza with chicken tasted ok. The cauliflower bites weren't great and a couple of them were still cold on the inside. The green beer and Irish whisky were as expected.

Quite enjoyed myself here. Typical pub style mixed with suburbia. I had butter chicken - can’t complain, it was decent. Plenty to choose from on the menu. Beer was cold. Good selection. Service was fantastic! Quick and friendly. Washroom was clean. Overall great for food and beer.

Not a great wrap. I ordered the buffalo wrap and they put a single thin line of hot sauce in the center, and over powered everything with lettuce. The fries aren't anything special. I could be wrong, but they seem like frozen fries. $20 for a wrap and I felt totally ripped off.

Our server was excellent. We explained that we had to be out of the pub by 6 pm and she brought our order out as soon as it was ready and also provided me with a take out box as I'm a slow eater.

Philly Poutine - frozen fries with approximately 5 cheese curds. For $17, I recommend cooking this much better at home. Haddock dippers had dried out fish and were chewy. Wings were great. I've always enjoyed Royal Oak, but tonight's meal was terrible.

I find this Oak to be kind of too still, quiet, and franchise cookie cutter for me. It's more of a really nice family restaurant than a proper cozy relax and have a pint pub.

No problem at all making a reservation for 8 for Sunday brunch. Mike, the general manager, was great to deal with, very personable. The breakfasts were all good size; even my mom said the Western sandwich was the best she's ever had.

Excellent staff and a warm, clean and pleasant environment. The food was served hot and fast and the price was right. The Royal Oak will be my new go-to for when friends and family come to town.

Down graded to 3 stars, they have gotten not picky cheep. - they charge for beer samples, I could see it if someone asked for many samples but it's just cheep to charge for one sample

Our waiter was so professional and efficient to our large group with children he contributed to a superior experience. The widr varied menu allowed a selection which was all prepared.

Great place to bring your friends or family for lots of finger licking good food. Staff was friendly and we left a generous tip.
