Arrived from Travel Lodge Heathrow Airport. At the start, it took me about 20mins to get checked in because of some issue the receptionist was having to get the payments through, she eventually video called someone who directed her on what needs to be done and payments went through successfully. I’m not really one to complain, but there is no AC, you get 30 mins free wifi, you will have to pay 3GBP/day for wifi, room a bit dusty, not cleaned properly, which is not very comforting in times like these. Inquired about breakfast, and its a package to be collected at reception at anytime with cereal, yogurt and juices and a protein bar i think, (this is understandable d/t the current pandemic). The furniture in the room is quite dated and needs some attention. It was summer and the window had to be open to keep the room cool, and since this is only a 2 level hotel, you dont have much privacy when the windows are open, also you get to hear all the commotion happening outside. I needed to Iron some clothes and had an heater and Ironing board brought to me. When the heater was plugged in the breaker supplying electricity to the room tripped off, I knew this after some troubleshooting and having to swap heaters. There were no staff at the front desk sometimes when you went down for assistance, so you just basically shout until someone acknowledges you and attend to your needs. I'm sure no fault of their own as they are probably understaffed. This would be a good hotel for a quick overnight but for a long term stay i dont think I would stay here. For the price of 60GBP/night i was expecting a bit better, i will be switching to the Hampton by Hilton Central Croydon which is 69GBP/day.

About a year ago, I would have been concerned if I had booked a room at this place. It did not have a good reputation locally. However it is clear that Travelodge has acted on these concerns and seem to have brought a new management team in... and what a difference. The staff were just simply great. Reception and check in staff member called "Bee" I think was honest, appeared trustworthy and simply did what she said she would do. I had arrived early for check in having forgot to add Early Checkin option to my booking. She said she didnt have anything yet, but got my number from my booking and called me as soon as she had rooms ready. Which when she did call was about only 30 mins before normal check in, and appologised for a delay, that wasn't her fault. As the room furniture is "inherited" from a previous owner. It is not standard "travelodge" and is showing signs of being pre loved. Over all it was acceptable in cleanliness. But signs of dust build up in the rooms in places that would have not been covered by standard travelodge cleaning protocols, hence the 1* reduction but it felt and smelt clean. Parking was free, and covered by CCTV. I felt safe, warm and welcomed, with a comfy bed and great shower. And staff who are determined to make my stay a great one. So recommend this location. And thanks travelodge for listening to your customers and acting on it with a great team!

Very noisy doors and people talking you can hear in Room 112 107 we were moved to was quieter over the garden..However the shower was stiff and only one towel so bonus to have to move rooms it was better in 107 but only one spare pillow so borrowed had no choice. Don't know why we wasn't given that room in the beginning. Check in staff polite didn't really chat much. Came in evening no staff not good.

Staff were very helpful (as were those in the Toby Carvery next door) and the room was clean. Hotel is also in a great location, being a short walk from Purley Oaks station. Travelodge's senior management, however, need to spend some money on the place! The building is very tired, both externally and internally. Part of the ceiling at the bottom of the central staircase has come away, revealing unsightly pipes and wiring. The carpets need replacing and the rooms need updating to meet modern-day standards and the facilities offered in other Travelodges. I would even consider demolition of the existing building and its replacement by something more architecturally-stylish to be necessary.

The hotel staff were pleasant enough, hotel rooms were clean enough, but the biggest problem is that the hotel DOES NOT own the parking area on which the hotel is located. They tell you to use the NCP approx 0.5 miles down the road which costs £16 per night. This is not the biggest problem, which is the car park is plagued with homeless people who like to break into your car steal whatever they can find and then sleep in your car. This happened twice in two days. The security people informed me that the police are called roughly 3 times every week to this car park.So if you want your car to be trashed use this car park.

It's cheap. Not unusual for travel lodge the TV control did not work in my room. Limited parking as there is a Toby Inn shares parking. Unfortunately I felt like I was a burden the staff had to 'deal' with so bought my own tea, coffee & milk as I felt uncomfortable about asking for supplies even though I didn't have the room serviced. Personally I only use travelodge as the company books them. Would I use this particular unit again? No way! I didn't use the Toby next door as I didn't want to be double disappointed.

  • Robert Borg

Sorry the place run down and after getting over the initial booking in were the receptionist was facetiming someone for them to walk her through the booking as my room was booked through my workplace. No security on the front door, all the mattocks didn't work from what I could see. My room was not appealing and the carpet was so stained that I was afraid to take my shoes off. I ended up leaving and driving 3 hour home and cancelling my meeting the next day.

Very very tasty carvery. We eat here all the time when I come to visit family. Chefs always do a good job and are on top of replenishing food items, yorkies are my absolute favourite. A few little niggles I have tho and that's perhaps a little more attention when it comes to the gravy its always a bit low and covered in skin and also the grumpy man behind the bar! He's always there whenever I am in and he's always very abrupt and never welcoming. Other than that all round not a bad roast

The only thing I think could be different is not calling peoples husbands or boyfriends "babe" etc, it just sounds so unprofessional and find it quite rude when their partners standing right there. I personally like to be spoken too being called miss or mam or a man referred to as sir! not babe/,babes, . When I dont know people and I am staying some where with professional people . Rooms are clean, and quite ok, location good, and staff are friendly just need a bit more professionalism

  • Andrew Stevensen

Heavily stained carpets everywhere (dry sick stains on floor next to bed); foul smell in both rooms i tried and major damp smells on the ground floor; bins in car park overflowing with rubbish everywhere. No mention on website that it's also currently a building site with dust everywhere. Can't believe Travelodge have put their name to this place and are charging customers full price. Absolutely disgusting

The cleaning is awful. There's pubes in the shower. Shower curtain is filthy. The wall has dirty finger marks on it as if someone's done the deed stood up as I wouldn't guess how so many dirty finger marks in that lay out would have gotten there as they are next to the wardrobe. There's mould and tiles missing in the bathroom. Small tv too for a family room

Stayed 4 & 5 /02/23. Location just off main road, handy for buses and Puley Oaks station. Receptionists were friendly and welcoming. Mattress comfortable. Our room was over reception door so noisy at times especially if you open the window. Clean but well overdue a refurbishment. Not much carpet left on the carpet. Not good soundproofing so you hear people coming and going. Location is the best thing going for it, and the nice staff.

  • Denis Steele

Internet should be free in hotels these days. The internet here takes longer to log on than the time you use it, far to complicated it's not worth anything says you can have two devices I had a phone and laptop logging on it keep saying you have two devices connected cannot connect this device I gave totally worthless . Breakfast "box" not worth having. The location is good, rooms good, staff on the slow side. OK for a night.

  • Justnara Zaman

It's small and intimate and I like that. It's easy to find however it needs abit of work done to it nonetheless my experience of travelodge is generally positive. Staff are polite and considerate. The price is relatively cheaper than other travelodge I stayed in. There is a bar next to it and just few shops so it's nothing great to see in my opinion so staying here is for convenience and the cheaper rate of price.

  • Nisa Ahmad

Staff members were nice, polite, smiley and had good basic conversations. Bathroom was clean and tidy so no complaints about that. The room need a bit of upgrade, to be honest and lastly, need to top up regularly instead of us going and asking for top up.

Well I enjoyed this place BUT felt very sorry for a member of the staff who got a lot of verbal from a member of the public. This was a bit upsetting to see as the lass was trying her hardest to keep everyone happy. Me personally I thought she did a good job and I have no problem in recommending this place to anyone. The staff are polite n friendly and the place was very clean and tidy.

I find that Travelodge rooms are way too dark. They provide no reading light and no plug by the bed the charge one's phone. However, that said, the staff at this particular Travelodge were helpful and had a great attitude and that's why given this place 4 stars. After all it's a Travelodge and provided you pay less than 50 Quid then it's pretty good value.

Very poor arrived soaked through .to find no hot water .so couldnt shower .room smelt of poo .and the room i was in was over the front door .banging and huming all night long .hardly got any sleep .next day hot water but still couldnt shower .hot then cold wouldnt set ..worst night ever looking for a complete refund ..not a token to stay again no way

  • Alicia Gordon

Hats off for customer service. Marcel was very sufficient, patient and helpful when checking us in. Although as other have stated the place could do with a much needed refurbishment. It does what it needs to do, for the price and for the star rating. Thanks again Marcel

Travelodge in general have completely gone down the pan. House keeping do absolutely nothing in this place, staying for a week, and they don't charge bedding or towels!! Obviously dire service. Place stinks of weed and visible drug dealing in the car park front and rear of the premises.

The room are not very clean. The bed sheets are changed every 4 days. The breakfast is really bad, coming as a box. Milk orange juice normal cereal and a muffin which seems plastic orange and cramberry flavour. Not variety or different choice . The pub downstairs which serves mainly meat is also very poor. Poor food and custumer service.

  • Graham Davies

Place is a little tired inside, staircase carpet is well overdue for replacement. Room was in good order, but once again, dressing table was well worn. Still, nice and quiet on the carpark side, and did have a good sleep

We used the hotel as an overnight stop off before needing to watch an early train with my young children. Was put in a room with a Window right next to busy beer garden and the firdt room next to the main door to reception so sleep wasn't an option. Which is great when you need to travel for 12 hours the next day.

  • Dan Saunders

Pretty grim, not well kept. Stunk of cannabis during my whole stay. Too warm in the room with a rubbish little fan just pushing warm air around. The receptionist was friendly but knew nothing about the local area, couldn’t suggest anywhere for late night food. Bit of parking on site with a Toby Carvery next door.

The room is very noisy with the traffic outside and there is no ceiling light so the room is very dull. Compared to other travel lodge hotels the furniture seems to be old and the bed isn't as comfortable. Although for the price it isn't too bad just to survive one night.

  • Tanya Walker

Staff were rude as hell, shout at my partner for taking a toilet roll from the trolley outside our room, despite when we first arrive we didnt have a full roll to begin with. Shower boiled you to death every 2 minute intervals. Electrics were faulty. Worst stay ever.

  • Mark Anthony

Room was very dirty but it was late and we were tired after our six hour drive. Cleaned room before we could settle. (Thank you bleach)!!! Bedding was clean and bed was really comfortable. On the plus side it was warm, roomy and quiet through night so slept well.

  • Nick Bond

Staff not interested in you, you seem like you are hindering them checking in as they are busy chatting to each other out of view. Make sure you put in 2 days in the automated parking machine on the counter. Room not updated for a while, TV just about big enough

  • Philip White

Your average travelodge with the benefit of a Toby Carvery attached to the building so getting decent food during your stay is easy and convenient. The parking is normally quite packed due to this however in my experience there's still enough spaces left.

  • Sue May

Really friendly staff from the time you arrive. Lovely bedroom. Slept really well in the bed. Decor is a bit tired but that is all. Purley Oaks station is just up the road with frequent trains. Ideal for getting into London. Will return there.
