This one is NOT for beginner hikers/waterfall chasers. There are a couple ways to get here. 1) Follow the trail that starts at Dundurn St. downtown and hike about an hour or so. I met a couple that took this route, I've never done it myself. 2) Park your car somewhere close to the top of the falls (Senic Dr area) and then follow the fence from the bridge all the way to the end, taking note of all the danger signs. You'll find a hole stretched open at the bottom where hikers climb under. Again, I do NOT recommend this path for beginners or anyone who is not a strong climber. From there you'll basically scale down the side wall of the gorge. Hikers have kind of left a recognizably beaten path but for the most part you'll use any rock climbing skills you have and stay close to all trees in case you lose your footing. ALSO a good idea to bring a first aid kit and gloves as I cut my hand on a small piece of glass going back up and had to doctor myself on the cliff. Just be smart and be safe. Once you're at the bottom it's smooth saling. Back track along the path until you reach the falls! You'll come across the first waterfall on the left which has no signs around it at all, but note that there is a danger sign on the end falls that claims the water may contain sewage and e.coli bacteria. Keep that in mind and enter at your own risk. I went in and experienced no physical after effects besides a sun burn. Shower very well once you're home and listen to your body, if you start feeling sick, visit a doctor.. You don't want to get e.coli poisoning! Either way you choose, pack lightly and bring lots of water! It is absolutely breath taking. Out of all the falls I've seen this is by far my favourite and it is worth every second of the hike, no matter which route you take! If you choose to scale the gorge, note that it is much easier going back up but you'll need to remember where you came down in order to get back to the fence properly. BE SAFE, I can't stress this enough. Happy hiking!
I live around the corner from here and I'm shocked that people put their lives at risk (one person has died falling in the falls since I've lived in the area) to walk up to (from below) or walk down (from above) to see this place. The rocks are unstable, there are signs warning of danger and fences to keep people out. In 2017 my buddy who was with the Hamilton Police marine unit had to rescue a family of visitors who got caught on a rock 'island' below a raging torrent below the falls during a flood from a thunderstorm. The fences are there for a reason. Hamilton Fire has to rescue dozens of people every year from our waterfalls. Yes, Hamilton has beautiful waterfalls and incredibly gorgeous trails. Stick to the trails please. Visit the conservation areas - they're amazing. Earlier this summer I saw people splashing in the water and taking selfies... Uh... This is urban water. The watershed was paved over decades ago and most of the water comes from parking lots and all sorts of sketchy places.
This hidden gem is not easy to get to since all the waterfalls in Hamilton are fenced off due to climber injuries. (Do at own risk) How to get to the falls: Park at cliff view park and walk down a long set of metal stairs. Once at the bottom, you will take a right and walk through the golf course parking lot and co tinue walking a good 500m. Walk until you pass the golf course fairway (look both ways before crossing). Right after that crossing, you will dart right into the bushes. (If you see a black fence on your left you have gone too far). The pathway will be blocked by a silver fence but will end after about 30m. Walk through the fence and follow the stream. Congrats you made it to the first falls! To get to the second falls you will have to be very careful as you climb the right or left side of the first falls (definitely worth it but be careful). Continue to follow the stream for another 200m.
There are two levels of the falls, a lower section and an upper section. The large sections with the stratification of the rocks can be seen from the top road. Visiting it from the bottom is illegal and you can get a hefty fine visiting the site. Climbing to the lower section doesn't take long while the large "actual" Chedoke falls takes 30-45 minutes to get to. Distances aren't long at all but the terrain is extremely uneven and challenging for some people so wear proper footwear and clothing. As you can see from the photos the falls are also fed by a storm drain which causes the water to have a pungent smell in stagnant areas as well as a fair bit of trash. Still, it is a nice site to see with the rock formations and vegetation.
I’m sure these falls are beautiful if you were allowed to go and see them.... there was a ‘waterfall enforcement’ officer standing at the guard rail above the falls. There is no ‘legal access’ to go down there. You will be charged with trespassing if you’re caught. It seems as if you’d have to hop the fence and venture down a steep hill. Although this hill clearly has a path, and I would have loved to go down there, we didn’t due to the officer. This is nature. How can you block off this area and say no trespassing? How about a ‘use at your own risk’ people come here to go for a hike and see a beautiful creation. It really sucked driving an hour and a half to just turn around...
I will try to explain how to reach the falls, if you use this location, after Google shows you have reached drive further and you will find a parking lot on your right. From there you can see stairs down take that till you reach a gap to your right into the trail. Follow the trail and get to the parking lot below which is the parking lot for radial trail alternatively search radial trail parking lot and start walking through that untill you see a way to your right go through to find a broken fence enter that and you will find falls 1 , further trek through the forest to go to falls 2 and 3 .
Pretty cool spot to visit. You can see the falls from the top but the view is not that great. You’d have to park by the residential area and climb down for the full view. Climbing down to the base is illegal and you can get tickets if caught. The trail is not easy and is very rugged and slippery. Do make sure you have proper shoes and attires if you intend to climb down. Will not recommend this for children or anyone with mobility issues. Aside from that the scenery is gorgeous and very picturesque. We went there specifically to take a video for our channel and enjoyed the hike.
The gorge and the falls are beautiful but very rugged. Steep ravine walls and cliffs which are under cut forms a bowl around the water falls. The falls cannot be seen from above and access from below is prohibited due to the jagged unstable terrain. Despite this dozens of sure footed explorers venture to the falls each day. The layers of differently coloured sedimentary rock adds to the rugged beauty. There are many century old trees and due to soil erosion they are at risk of falling down; as many already lay on the ground.
Didn't have much time when we stopped here so really didn't get to explore the whole area just got to peak over and hardly see the falls. For sure not one of my favorites but I didn't want to leave to bad of a review being I hardly got to see even a portion of what it may have to offer and it was more so my fault cause I didn't plan to do any hiking on this exact stop since we were making so many. However if I am ever in the area again I will for sure make it a goal of mine to see things from the bottom lol...
Beautiful place. You park by the golf course and there are about 3-4 different falls in the vicinity. If you take the stairs trail you bump into two different falls. A d if you walk down about and go through the hiddent trail by the ravine you will find the chedoke falls. Its. Beautiful little hike and a nice spot for photo ops. What most people dont know is that there is another falls beyong this falls which is even more beautiful but it is a bit of a hike.
Chedoke Falls is so beautiful and honestly a very fun place to go. The falls itself is hidden at the end of a long rocky path but its totally worth going to. You will have to cross a fence but apparently everyone does. It is quite rocky and you will slip or twist your ankle of you are not careful. Bring good shoes and be careful where you step. Overall it was an amazkng adventure and I would definetly come again.
We started on the top of the falls at scenic drive and worked or way down...very steep ...yes you need good grip on your shoes. Lots of little stones and loose rocks. Very pretty area especially in October! Falls was very Nice and it had a water Basin which was very deep looked great for swimming but not sure how clean!?! Traveled all along the edge of the Rocky cliffs... Great little workout!!
This is by far my favourite waterfall in Hamilton. I love that there's more than one route to take down to the falls and that there's so much to photograph. Chedoke falls is such a beautiful place for taking pictures whether it be portraits or nature shots! I took some breath taking images and I highly recommend going with a friend! Watch your step as the ground can be unstable at times.
Picturesque but not for the physically limited. Very steep climb up and down, not your casual Sunday afternoon walk this place is a definite hike! When I saw very fit men dripping sweat coming up the stairs I knew I was in trouble because I hadn’t gone down half way yet. I sent my son back up the mountain to get the car and drive around to pick me up at the golf club because I was done!
Very pretty, park at the bottom and take the radial trail towards the base, follow the fence on the left side until there’s a break in the fence. (Second break), it should drop off a bunch and you should be able to see water. (Not the building). Follow the stream up, make sure you are able to climb above the first waterfall in order to be able to reach the second and third waterfalls.
Definitely worth the trip there. Very peaceful and was a respite from the otherwise hot day. I wish people would take their trash back with them. It was sad to see empty bottles and beer cans lying around. I get it that it's a great spot to chill out, so please, don't leave your trash behind. Leave it cleaner than you found it right? Anyway, super cool place. Definitely check it out.
Ok, I loved this place!! You need to park at the bottom, in the golf, at the end is a parking lot. Then , facing the hill go to your left, when you enter the park, walk 2 min and turn to the right in the second entrance, take the right path and star walking. You’ll find a nice fall , but that’s not it, keep going up , to the left is easier. About 10 minutes and you will be there.
Beautiful challenging trail hopping across rocks up to the lower chedoke falls, then climbing some roots on a vertical 15' climb to the top of the falls where you continue up to the chedoke falls. Only downside is the water isn't clean to swim in, it is clear but there are signs warning about high ecoli content. It is water that runs off the roads so probably a lot of toxins too.
That's all you can see. From above the bridge. Fenced off from many sides that we tried, so just couldn't reach down there. May have been a better experience and review. My review isn't for the falls, am sure it's beautiful up close. My review is about it as a point of interest as a visitor.

I have been to the falls recently with my friends and we enjoyed the view. Google maps just take you to the street nearby. If you're driving, park your car at the golf parking lot and walk to the end of the parking lot and on the second right is the access to the falls. Not recommended for physically handicapped people as you need to walk through the uneven stones.
Absolutely beautiful waterfall. A little hard to access as the trail isn't really marked. If you can find it though it's well worth the effort. The good part about that is, is that it's off the beaten path, and therefore not crowded like most places. Definitely one of the nicest waterfalls in whole area. Very enjoyable. Definitely recommend it.
Somehow I’m too interesting to go and see Falls , even winter but before snow fall, first we went to the Tew’s fall , it was awesome and clean but no washroom inside so that is big problem , so last week we went to Chedoke fall , we disappointed because everything covered , we couldn’t see anything, these are those pictures I took it
Smells like sewage and detergent. Enjoy the view of the suburban artificial waterfall, the hike while nice reminds me both of humber creek and a toilet bowl. The site is littered with trash and the water comes from a combined sewage and storm drain. Avoid this place its disgusting and toxic, we have already damaged the ecosystem enough.
Pretty nice waterfall which you can from Scenic Dr. The walk isn't too far from Bruce Trail or Balfour Park. There's nicer waterfalls on the Niagara Escarpment, as this one is rather difficult to see from several angles due to all the trees and shrubs.

Hard to access but that's what makes these falls great. Not many people trashing it although I did see a bit of rubbish like water bottles and such left behind. But cleaner than any other spot. Please don't leave anything behind! Take all your stuff and be deliberate about putting your belongings and garbage back in your pack!
It's a beautiful place if you're walking by. But it's dangerous and illegal to go down to the bottom. And swimming is really stupid, because the water is full of human sewage. The only reason public health doesn't have a sign marking swimming as dangerous is because they don't have to because it's not a beach!
The falls itself is very beautiful and it has such a relaxing sound. But, it’s tough to the lookout from Denlow Ave due to lack of parking in the area. I guess you can take the Dundurn stairs to get closer to the falls and have a much better view. The highlight of my visit my see a fox walking in the area.
Really awesome views with a river and falls the paths are great. I would consider the path to be a medium to hard difficulty. You can walk along the stream and jump across rocks. The water is from the road runoff so do not splash around in it too much. There are also sections that are off the beaten path.
Chedoke Park's most popular attraction is it's 289 stair steps. So many keep fit folks are running up and down the steps. Seeing these folks inspired us a great deal. Next is the 2.7km Radial Scenic Trail with access to the University of McMaster. This is a very easy walk for all ages.
The waterfall is absolutely breathtaking! The cascading water, surrounded by lush greenery, creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere. It's a perfect spot to relax and connect with nature.

Aesthetic: 4/5 Cleanliness: 2/5 Difficulty: hard Beautiful waterfall, requires some hiking skills. DO NOT SWIM HERE. I see people swimming here from time to time, it is NOT clean or safe! Park on a side street in the surrounding area if you’re trying to access the falls from the top!
Not an easy task to find the falls but that’s the adventure you’ll have to experience. There are two waterfalls here. To go from one to another, you might have to do a bit of hiking through the hard red rocks and wet muddy area. It’s a nice place to witness the natural beauty.
Walk was lengthy but the first weekend we stepped out so enjoyed the trail and small water falls. While going we walked down the stairs and returned up the mountain from scenic drive to park.

be mindful!! There is no legal entrance into the falls area, the path is dangerous and illegal. People are usually fined here. You can see the waterfall from the bridge and that's it. I was disappointed people didn't mention this information in reviews before.
The falls are beautiful. Popular hike but quite difficult. Many people.like to go to the bottom of the falls which is a semi difficult hike. Takes about 2 hours total. possible get wet. We parked top side so had to take the gigantic set of stairs up and down.
You only reach the falls if you go off trail and are with people who have a sense of adventure. Go down the stairs, turn right, up the wooden steps, and then past the fence. It's common sense from that point on. Would say it's about a 40 minute trek in total
A great day out in the fresh air and beautiful scenery throughout the area. Have been here twice now and have been two different ways. A nice place to take the family but make sure you have the proper footwear as you will be walking and hiking for a while.
5000 dollar fine but have to explore on your own will. Lovely spot, can't believe the city would do such a thing and remove this beautiful spot. Check out my IG, Brandonbrown200333, I travel all over to see some of ontarios most beautiful scenery.
Beautiful trail to walk , run , or bike. Unfortunately though the falls were not accessible to people. We tried so many ways to get to the falls but couldn’t. There were fences around it so we couldn’t really enjoy the falls but we could hear it.
Beautiful waterfalls in the area. There are two waterfalls and they can be tricky to find. Try to go when the soil is dry. I advise against hiking here after it rains because it is very slippery and dangerous with some of the muddy steep terrain.
Beautiful falls, but no parking close and not allowed to swim. Many teenagers have been hurt swinging from a rope thats tighed up high in the tree, so no swimming allowed unless you want a ticket. Nice just to look down at it from scenic road.
Awesome place to visit. Challenging a bit to get to main fall but definitely worth every effort. To get there, park at Cliffview park and go down the long stairs. When you get to the Chedoke radial recreation trail, go right, continue down
Bruce trail goes tantalizingly near, but it is too dangerous to see from the bottom, where the best view would be. Steep sides, subject to erosion, is why the city has sensibly warned people from attempting to go under the barriers, leave
Cannot access the waterfall from Scenic drive directly... saw hikers crossing a "No Tresspassing" fence to trek through a muddy river bed to get there from the Bruce Trail. Water didn't look too welcoming despite the sunny & 28 degree day
Gorgeous frozen beauty. During my visit it was really busy. Except waterfall itself there was nothing else to see. The walk from parking lot to the viewing platform was very easy and short. The only issue was with limited parking spaces.
Awesome place to check out. One of the best falls in the area. Just be careful on the rocks and be aware of your surroundings if you go to the bottom. Water conditions change rapidly - a family was recently rescued after flash flooding.
I went with a few friends there and totally enjoyed it. The hiking was a bit tough but once you reach the waterfall you will find it is worth it. The cold water and the fresh air will take you to a different place altogether.
Beautiful area with nature sights and sounds but the most amazing thing ..this waterfall is raw sewage water caused by a construction error that has made this a serene waterfall and pool scene..hey ugly creates beauty too
Paths were obstructed lots of fallen trees was a difficult hike with 5 young children but we made it all the way to the beautiful blue green pond under the chedoke falls. Approx 45mins one way

Very scenic. Parking is an issue these days. At one time if there was no parking in the small lot you could take your chances parking on the side of the road. Now, no parking on the road and you have to pay to park.
Great secluded location. You can see the falls from the top of the bridge, however, you have to sneak in through the side to go down and actually view the two falls. Wear proper footwear and don’t swim in the water
I recommend going along the creek rather than the trail. It's more adventurous. Wear proper footwear since you'll be climbing alot of rocks. At the end of the creek you'll see the Gorgeous view of chedoke falls
This is not a waterfall to go out of your way for. At least not if you are going to see it from above. If you can walk up from below, I am sure this rating would be 5 star! It would be super cool to look up at!
Great little fall hike, beautiful falls. Cozy little clubhouse for coffee, snacks or beers. If we didn’t have the kids we totally would have watched the game and had some beers and brunch at Chedoke Golf Club.
One crazy amazing and beautiful fall. The colour of the water is breathtaking. We had to trespass and climb over the fence and down the cliff during winter, but it was totally worth it after we saw the falls.
Absolutely beautiful place. Gorgeous, scenic trail and a couple of nice falls. If you start from Cliffview Park, you'll need to take the stairs - 289 steps which could be a pain in the neck on the way back.
Amazing scenery, great place to go on a hiking date. Doesn't require much skill in terms of climbing to get to the top of the waterfall, and it's definitely worth it! You can easily spend 3+ hours here.
A hidden gem for sure. It was quite a fun hike to get to the falls. Getting above the lower falls was a bit tricky, but it can be done multiple ways, just have to pick the path that looks best for you.
The view is great, the hike is a lot of fun, but the whole place smells like run off from a laundromat or something. Kinda ruined the experience.

Medium to hard hike but very fun trek for the adventurous! Our dog is very athletic and agile but still needed to be carried at times. To get there, we followed the creek off of the Bruce Trail.
Spent quite a few hours walking and climbing. Great pathways and bridges.. make sure you carry water and if you plan to find the water falls. Prepare to get wet. It's a beautiful place.
Small beautiful waterfall. NOTE: This location does not have access to the falls as the falls are below the street level. You need to hike upstream by the river. The trails only goes a
This hidden gem in Hamilton has got to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls around. Absolutely loved the trek that leads there. Overall, a must visit place of you live in GTA.
Place is amazing, view is insane, but there is no trail to this fall so it's quite hard to get there! You can get there by 'non-official' trail full of rocks and fallen trees
Have to walk a long distance to see the beautiful view of the falls but worth it. you ll find a trial halfway through the steps down, don't hesitate to take that. great view
Went to see the falls, unfortunately it was hard to find the way to find falls. We went for a trail which was fun. But we couldn’t find the falls.

Very nice place and awesome hike. There is no clear path to go so we just followed the river until we got to the falls. Safe to swim, but just be careful with the rocks
Super cool spot. You're not really allowed down to the falls anymore. People climb the fence. I wouldn't really recommend doing this as it's actually a bit dangerous.
Trail beside falls great climb Stepp hills lots of ways to get up the hill

Very picturesque spot. The falls are surprisingly really loud. It smells great by there and is definitely and experience you don’t want to miss if passing by.
Too many stairs to climb up and down .. then you have to rock climb to the big waterfalls .. if you like rock climbing and adventure you would like this
The City Of Hamilton has closed access to the waterfall. Bylaw patrols the waterfalls and fines people who go off of the official marked trails.
The falls was not running that much when we got there. There is a huge set of stairs that people use for exercising but it gets really crowded.
Fun and exciting hike and climb with beautiful falls, only reason i didnt give 5 stars is because at the end of the day it is a sewer :/
Really nice hike. To get to the waterfall you actually have to go to the part they tell u not to go to (like leave the trail). Worth it!
Gorgeous trails. Some parts are slippery and dangerously muddy after heavy rainfalls. I suggest only going when the soil is dry.
Great place to go for a hike and take in the view of the falls. However, definitely would not recommend swimming in the water.
Great for going with kids. Short hike around 20-30 minutes. The hike is not too difficult either. Good getaway for 2 3 hours.
Wonderful place for a hike, if you're physically up to the challenge, it's not just a trail based area. Waterfalls are great!
If you are going for fall, this isn’t the place, tough to reach and just far view from fence, Very good park for trails only
Nice short easy walk to the first falls, couldnt go to the second falls because it was fenced. No signage indicating trails
Wonderful Falls Located in Funnel & seinic drive in Hamilton. A beautiful falls but there is no excess to it from the road.
Absolutely loved it. We climbed and climbed and climbed and while it was a bit hard at times, the scenery was so worth it!
A beautiful and peaceful area to walk and enjoy view of Hamilton. Here are pictures of Chedoke falls in Spring and Winter
Didn't have much water. So should visit after rain days. Also access is restricted. So even taking pictures is difficult
Lovely scenic view! Quite difficult to get to, but the view is worth it. Very serene and not crowded with people.
I hike hear almost daily. It's a difficult hike for those without proper footwear and those who don't
Place within the core of hamilton, but still close to the nature...full of adventure.... 10/10
You have a pretty moderate hike to get here and once you get to the very top you'll be glad.
These are awesome falls to hike up! Always enjoy myself, and bring a new person every time!
Nice view of the falls from up top, they are making it harder to access from the bottom
One of my favorite waterfalls in the Hamilton area, but definitely not easy to get to.
Its closed for public in rainy season otherwise an amazing hike.
Gorgeous spot in the town for waterfalls absolutely loved it.
