I could give these wonderful souls 100 more stars. This place is innovative and retro at the same time. Retro because it's located in a building from the 1930s that has always housed veterinarians. This building is beautiful in its historic ways. What a lovely history it has, and now a continued tradition of caring for the animals that share this earth home with us. Absolutely keeping in line with the direction God gave when giving dominion over the animals. Truly a responsibility to care for them and look out for their well-being, and this new group in this old building are keeping to this task. Innovative because they seen what was needed and not represented in how we take care of our animal friends. They keep cost at an affordable level while being an urgent care with late night hours. Also, you can get same day Spay and Neuter Services at the same price and actually a little lower than the low cost centers that service communities now but unfortunately have long waits to get an appointment. I am very thankful for these options now like emancipet and snapus. Wonderful places, they are. I am so overjoyed with this movement in care and love for everyone to get to experience the companionship of a pet without the hardship. I put Veterinarian Urgent Care right up top on the leader board with Empty Shelter Project as leaders in this new way of thinking and acting when it comes to our relationship with our pets and community. Much love to you guys. I was overwhelmed with the spirit of you all yesterday when we brought Marigold in to be spayed. The staff and other guest as well fill this building with the passion of love and care for all the little fur babies. There is a good feeling encompasses in this place and people, something magical in a way. ❤️

Wow where to begin. Yesterday I searched high and low going and calling all the vet techs around and all they cared about was .. when I called telephone urgent care I was talked to by Gina which is so sweet and kind and makes you feel like family as soon as she answers the phone.. along with vet tech Azalea she treated me with such compassion and empathy.. and wow Dr Gallegos is an angel sent to do miracles from God .. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE... MY TOY CHIHUAHUA WAS KNOCKING ON DEATHS DOOR , WASN'T DRINKING OR EATING COULDN'T EVEN WALK OR STAND OR USE THE RESTROOM ON HER OWN .. WHICH WE THOUGHT WERE SIGNS OF OLD AGE SO WE WERE GONNA LET HER PASS IN THE COMFORT OF OUR HOME !! BUT WE DECIDED NOT TO GIVE UP BECAUSE SHE IS OUR BABY !! AND THOU THEY KNEW HER AGE AND SEEN HOW WEAK SHE WAS THEY DID NOT GO STRAIGHT TO SAYING WE NEED TO CONSIDER EUTHANASIA!! DR GALLEGOS SAID NO WHERE GONNA FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM .. AND SURE ENOUGH SHE DID .. SHE FOUND A MASS THAT WAS FULL OF 50 MILLIGRAMS OF DARK BROWN FLUID JUST TAKING OVER MY BABIES INSIDES AND DECIDED SHE NEEDED SURGERY ASAP .. SHE WAS SUCCESSFUL (A MIRACLE) AND NOW OUR BABY IS HOME WITH US BREATHING LIKE SHE IS 4 YRS OLD AGAIN .. AND THEY DIDNT ASK ABOUT MONEY FIRST THEY WANTED TO HELP MY BABY .. AND THEN WITH A DEPOSIT AND THE REST IN PAYMENT PLANS YOU WOULD THINK THERE IS A CATCH NO, THESE ARE JUST PPL THAT TREAT YOUR PETS AS THEY ARE THEIR OWN !! I WILL FOREVER BE GREATFUL AND ALWAYS CONTINUE TO GO HERE !! DONT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS, THEY ARE NOT VALID AT ALL !! Where do I start; I think the mission statement is AWESOME! For this alone, I give 5 stars because that is all we can give. Wanting to help families during a pet crisis isn't easy or a job for the weak. It's all angels and rainbows until we talk price for services comes up. For many unlucky pets, a trip to the ER is too costly and the animal goes untreated unfortunately. This is the sad, grim reality of emergency care for animals. It priced out of many people's budgets. Dr. Gallegos is challenging that model by providing emergency care at normal reasonable prices. The office has only started. I believe they have been open about 3 months now. I hope this review is read by all the people of East End. This animal hospital can become something really special if given enough support from the locals. It almost seems "Patch Adams'ish" (we should be so lucky). I took my dog Penny in because she was really sick. She was treated very quickly. I ended up going back just before 12 and Dr. Gallegos was nice enough to give my dog some much needed fluids. The price for everything was around 300. I am really happy with the services and should another emergency happen, I will look to come here first.

They killed our dog. We took our bulldog in as we couldn’t take him to his usually vet bc it was an emergency to us. We went in on a Friday they told us that he had bladder stones, we agreed and they did the surgery. Picked up our boy the next day and he was just fine. His health kept declining they told us he will be peeing frequently but he wasnt. We didn’t see any pee and he was NOT walking not eating and was drinking aloooot of water. Yet no pee for 2 days. Monday morning he couldn’t even walk or stand up on his own. He was crying in pain and his abdomen was soooooooo enlarged. I took him back on Monday, told them what was going on and they did not do any xrays NOR bloodwork. The dr told me about the option to hospitalize him so they can watch him 24/7 she never mentioned to me they would put a catheter in him. We went home with more pain meds and more antibioticss. Our boy DIED 3 hours later! I told them something was wrong yet they did nothing to prove me wrong. He had a seizure in my arms and died! I requested medical records that shows they did nothing when i went in the 2nd time and saying they told me about the catheter when she did not tell me.

I went to FM 1960 vet clinic because my cat psalm had a injured tail and they quoted me almost 1k for her tail amputation and I could not afford it and so they referred me to a different treatment which was a pain shot and they gave me a ointment for the maggots in her tail promising me that his tail would most likely fall off and just be a nub and neither the ointment and shot helped so they basically used me as a cash grab so I called this clinic and they charged me around $600 for the surgery and I got him in the next morning on a Saturday around noon (get there early or else you won’t have where to park!) and he got the surgery that same day and my cat is on day 4 of recovery and he’s doing sooo good! I am so happy and I would gladly pay that again if I had to! I appreciate you guys and there was this girl, I forgot her name but she had black wavy hair I think with glasses and she was so nice, she made me feel more at ease leaving my cat there. If any of my pets need surgery again, I would HIGHLY recommend this place and come here again.

These people saved our dog’s life. Aries unfortunately ended up with an obstruction on a weekend when local vets were closed. Dr. Gallegos and her team obviously care about helping animals and really stand by their mission statement of providing affordable pet care to the community. I don’t know what we would have done had we not found them. Right away they were loving on him and got him in within 10 minutes. He was dehydrated and they put him on an IV instead of sitting around, keeping us waiting to just talk about money like other ER vets do. They really care and we felt it every step of the way. They also didn’t get annoyed with me when I called them practically every other hour for updates on the surgery. So patient and kind. Thank you for saving Aries when no one else would <3

Drove to this side of town to take my son's dog to the vet. I walked in and they emediatly took the dog from me. After that, I never saw the dog or the dr. They put me in the room for 1 hr 10 minutes. I came out 3 times to tell them what is going on, and they told me they had an EMERGENCY. I waited a little longer, and the dr came in out of breath to tell me she couldn't do anything for my dog and that X-rays would cost 500 dollars and did no bloodwork. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! She prescribed him 2 pills for 50 dollars for nausea, the worst Vetenarian I've ever met. I would not recommend this place to anyone!!! If you want your DOG to die,then take them there. She charges people for no service.

If you’re not established patient and your pet is on death’s door DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Even if your pet is having an obvious medical emergency they will cold-heartedly tell you that they are not seeing new patients and will ask you to leave while your pet is dying in your arms. I guess “do no harm” doesn’t apply here. I was lucky to get my dog to Sunset pet hospital where they told me she was minutes away from dying due to a sudden seizure with food in her airway and AHDS with DIC. Good thing my baby didn’t die there at Telephone Rd., as they probably would have snatched her from my arms and threw her in garbage bin, that’s the level of care they showed

I know this pic looks like a mangy dog, but boy let me tell you!!! I took Dobby to Dr. Burns with practically no hair, scratching day and night, no interaction with the other dogs and not himself. He diagnosed his problem immedietly (allergic to fleas, even just a bite). Dobby has gotten older and cannot ingest flea meds anymore. He helped me, along with his wonderful wife Julie, to find other solutions. It has been a month or so. Dobby has been growing hair, playing with the other dogs and sleeping (as you can see) so peacefully. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE. I got my boy back!

I did not feel safe leaving my puppy there. Price for a spay was give $125. I arrived earlier to fill out her paper work. But the building itself looks vacant and abandoned. The windows are tinted in. I have owned several pets before and when I take them to get spay or neutered the vets office would have a long wait prior to opening. Not this place, there were no lines or anyone waiting outside for them to open. I saw 2 run down cars on the side. I would not trust this place to spay or neuter pets. Please look elsewhere for vet. Drive away from this place fast!

Dr. Gallegos is absolutely incredible! Her staff is incredible and extremely knowledgeable! I highly recommend her! She does not inflate charges for emergency care or for after hours! She owns her practice and is not a part of corporate prices. She is an excellent surgeon and her staff is absolutely the BEST! Her receptionist understood my frustration trying to find vet care for my female Pekingese with Pyometra after searching for affordable care for her for two days! This practice is what Veterinary care is all about! Highly recommend!

Dr. Gallegos is a baller spay/neuter surgeon. She has literally completed THOUSANDS of spays and neuters successfully while helping the pet overpopulation problem within Houston, Texas. She has also recognized that there needs to be a spectrum of veterinary care that is affordable for pet owners. While her car may not be fancy or the building state-of-the-art, rest assured the care your pet will receive is top notch. I would without a doubt trust Dr. Gallegos and her staff with the medical care of my beloved pet.

Convenient for emergency situations but how expensive the services are with no other payment options than applying for care credit u might as well wait to take your pet to your regular vet. I was quoted between 600 to 800 dollars for my dog to get medication af x-rays after he was hit by a car. So this is not an ideal place if u are on a budget. I ended up spending 250 for the office visit and 2 medications and had to go home with hopes and prayers for my dogs survival.

Never going anywhere else. After seeing these reviews, we visited Dr. Burns with our silky terrier and they were awesome. Dr. Burns patiently answered all my concerns with thorough explanations and helped us understand the veterinary science behind our pup's symptoms, and provided several alternatives for treatment. I have never received such thorough and informative care for such affordable rates. The charts on the wall may be from the 70s, but this Doc is top knotch.

Words cannot explain the gratitude I have for Dr. Gallegos and her staff. I have never had such a caring and friendly environment that I walked into before. The professionalism and patience they all had for the situation I had was very heart-felt. I would not only recommend Dr. Gallegos and her facility but I promise if anyone uses them, they will also go back. This is how medical care should be. They are reasonably priced and honest. They have the prices for their prescription dog food right there on the shelves. When you tell them your pets needs; they immediately inform you how much it will cost. If all medicine were as straight forward as this; more people would take better care of themselves and their animals. It's too bad most medicine is so secretive and designed to squeeze every dime out of you

This place was about 2000 cheaper than another to start off. They were very clear about their pricing, and everyone genuinely cared and explained everything extremely well. My cat had a urinary blockage and they took such good care of him and even let him go home earlier than they expected instead of milking me for money. I am so appreciative of everyone here for such a good experience and bringing my baby boy back. Thank you guys so much.

Had a dog spayed by a different vet. The incision opened up and some of her organs were coming out. The original vet was closed at the time so I had the dog taken to Vet Urgent Care. Dr. Gallegos opened her up and cleaned everything up and put her back together. She did great afterward. Not to mention charged basically nothing compared to a specialty emergency clinic. She is here for the community, and it is reflected in her work.

The prices were fair, the clinic kept me updated regarding my pet’s health status, and before I took my animal home the vet was sure that I didn’t have any questions. I felt very comfortable leaving my animal with the crew at this clinic. Everyone was professional and caring. If you want superb, honest, and affordable vet care… go to this clinic!

I would not take my pets to any other vet. I drive across town to take my dogs to Dr. Burns and have been a loyal customer since he bought the Telephone Road Animal Hospital in the early 1980's. I moved from SE Houston to NW Houston in 1998 and continue to use Dr. Burns. His staff including his wife Julie are very dedicated to ensure the pet gets special loving care. I won't go anywhere else!

My first experience here was awesome! Great environment. You can easily tell the humans were at ease and well communicated with each other which tells me the animals are in a happy environment throughout the office. My 10 month old husky does not like vet visits at all but they truly handled her perfectly for the behaviors she presented. Thank you so much for caring for us with compassion

I was referred here after having my dog examined for pyometra at another, more expensive vet hospital. Veterinary Urgent Care's service was excellent, and I was spared from having to borrow a large sum of money to save my dog. The staff was friendly and empathetic, and I felt my dog was in good hands under their care. She's recovering now and doing great!

I called this vet office to get a check up for my new cat and even though they let me know that they weren't taking new patients at the time the lady who answered the phone was still very helpful and asked me questions about what was going on with my cat to try to help me find a vet office that would take care of my cat. I really appreciate the kindness.

I've been taking my pets to Dr. Burns for over 10 years and I can't say anything besides THANK YOU! Best vet I have ever been to! Very transparent about diagnoses and also very upfront about various options. So much more than just a regular vet as they legitimately care about every single animal and person that comes through their door. Love them!

Went here on an emergency visit for my dogs eye. Dr. Burns and his staff were super friendly and made me feel at ease. Dr. Burns explained everything before he did any procedures and made sure we knew exactly what was wrong with our dog. Prices were fair and I would definitely be coming back in the future.

The ladies here are AMAZING!!! They saved all 3 of my kittens that were stuck together and were the only animal clinic that didn't ask for a ridiculous price just to look at them. They actually CARE about the animals over anything else. I HIGHLY recommend going here if your pets need help!

I’ve brought 3 of my cats here to be spayed/neutered and they are amazing!! In and out the same day and they usually take same day appointments. They are less expensive than many other low cost spay/neuter clinics and do a phenomenal job! Highly recommend!

Brought in my baby boy to be euthanized tonight. Gina was so helpful in such a difficult time. Lilly figured out a way to make a paw print. It made my heart happy that they would do that for me. Very affordable services and wonderful staff.

Wasted my time they really open at 9 for vaccinations and then the vaccinations are incorrect no animal over a year should be getting a 5 n1 as a vaccination and this is all they said they give besides heartworm medicine
