"We walked from Manchester Grand Hyatt for some breakfast"
"I would give this place zero stars if I could"
A blink and you'll miss it place if you're not a local and get it confused with the coffee shop right next door to it. If you're able to find it, (it's the cafe right on the corner), you'll want to go inside and order something to eat and drink. At peak times there's a wait but the food is well worth it. Service at times can be spotty on friendliness and different than the SoCal, happy personalities and put you more in mind of Bostonians but don't let that stop you, the food is worth it. Lots of breakfast options to eat and good drinks to drink whether you want café, fresh orange juice, or a smoothie. No pressed juices here but don't let that stop you. The deserts are adorable but with "dessert" in the name of the business you'd expect there to be much more than they actually have. The display case doesn't make them look of great quality but they're actually some of the best desserts I've had so make sure you get one or two. The inside is a bit of an eye sore and definitely more East Coast or NorCal/Oregon but don't be alarmed, the food is quality. If there's space, sit outside and take in beautiful downtown San Diego or get it to go.

I love coffee and dessert. I have been here twice before and both times my chocolate fantasy dessert did not hold up on the drive home as I took them with me. Went back yesterday and got coffee on the first trip. Made an arrangement with the nice man at the table doing paperwork that I could pay for my future purchases once as we were going to be out about and I wanted a chocolate fantasty before closing time. Well on my third trip of the day I went to pick it up and the young lady who helped me said that I must be the crazy lady she was told about. I was like what now I am crazy. She said that was what she was told. She had my receipt, made my coffee and tried to send me off with no dessert. I asked where was my chocolate fantasy. She was under the assumption that I received it earlier. She got me my dessert and told me I didn't seem crazy. Do not get me wrong she was lovely the way we talked. My issue is why would the young lady earlier be SO NASTY and say something like that. It doesn't make sense why someone would act that way over a customer who just asked for a dessert to be held for a few hours. I was so upset I refused my dessert and will not be spending anymore money there ever. And by the way, I still never got a chance to try the Chocolate fantasy. And now I guess I never will!!

Customer service was awful. My friend and I were looking for a coffee shop to eat and do homework. My friend and I walked in around 10:30 and proceeded to order. My friend ordered first and asked to take out ingredients due to dietary restrictions. The barista told her to just build her own sandwhich cause it was too much to take out and and sub ingredients. My friend doesn't hear well so she asked the barista to repeat herself at one point and she got angry, and was even ruder after that. When we both ordered she didn't even tell us our totals. She was also rude to a customer after us who asked to use the bathroom. She threw the key on the counter instead of handing it or placing it. The coffee wasn't good, and the blta was made on a super small croissant, not worth the money. I understand she was working alone but it wasn't busy at all. She acted as if it was a bother to serve us. I understand people have bad days but it's not a reason to take it out on customer's and bring that energy into the work place.

We walked from Manchester Grand Hyatt for some breakfast. The day before we tried the pancake place next door, but wanted something else. We both ordered the breakfast burrito and I had a tropical smoothie. Smoothie was great. Burrito was good, nice portion. Price is good/fair for the area. We had to wait, but the owner/manager (maybe) was the only staff and he was working quickly and efficiently. He still remained friendly and juggled things well. I didn't mind waiting when I could see he was giving it his all. For that he gets 5 stars, but it probably is more like 4 stars. He puts out great food for the space he has to work with. We wanted to get a dessert to-go but didn't want to wait. I may walk over again to try desserts. I'd have no problem recommending this place. Look at menu online before you go. Not huge selection of food. They have desserts available that weren't listed online.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The lady, who refused to share her name was incredibly rude for absolutely no reason. We asked about their food and she explained that she didn’t really like to fix food when she was the only one working. No big deal to us, especially in this climate. However, my hubby whispered to me that she had an attitude. So, I asked if he wanted to leave, as I still wanted coffee and my daughter wanted tea. He felt sorry for her and said, I’ll stay, she is here by herself. So when I ordered my coffee and asked her if they had raw sugar you would have thought I was asking for the world. She was so angry and rude responding that they had four types of sugar and they are all over there. I wasn’t sure I was reading her tone, so I said excuse me? And it just went down hill from there. I told her to keep her coffee and we left and walked one block to Starbucks.
I’ve been here nearly every morning for the past week to work from my laptop. I absolutely LOVE the açai bowls, Tokyo toast (which I add bacon to, yum!) and their caramel latte is to die for. Their espresso is apparently ranked top 15 in the world! I think what I love most about this place is the service. Alex might be the friendliest, kindest human alive. He is so accommodating and I feel like he truly loves what he does. McKayla is top notch too - one time I was on a work call and wasn’t able to grab my order and she discreetly brought it to my table without me even asking! That meant so much. Also Nicole - so personable and I want to be her best friend lol. I love the team and it already feels like a little sliver of home!

The worst/weirdest customer service experience I have ever had. I came in to this establishment for something to eat and drink but when I walked in the staff (long hair, bigger frame) was telling this man about very personal information - he looked visibly uncomfortable. When I had asked for the washroom key she noted it was normally for guests but assured her I was planning on purchasing something. She then told me she didn’t need to serve me - lol that escalated fast. How bizarre? I then told her she didn’t need to be rude. Maybe there is something wrong with this employee but she shouldn’t be in the service industry if she cannot be polite at the bare minimum. Her attitude was so weird, borderline creepy. I would recommend going anywhere else.
Stopped in for a quick breakfast on the way to the conference center. They didn't have blueberries so I opted for the original acai bowl and a matcha latte. Service was a little slow, but understandable as there was a single employee ringing people up and making their orders. During my visit I had a acai bowl from Chiefy Cafe, Skybound Coffee, and Lani Coffee. And I would rate them in that order. I rank Chefy Cafe in first for the addition of a large dollop of peanut butter right on top, and I rank Lani in last due to the frozen icy portion of acai in the middle of the bowl.

I have been to 5 different coffee shops since I arrived a few days ago for a conference... Just looking for something that would be impressive. Being from a small town in Tennessee, I figured that surely I would be able to find better craft coffee than we have at home, right? Well, I had not been successful yet. UNTIL TODAY!!! I ordered an iced quad dark chocolate latte at skybound and it was *to die for.* Oh, and it was actually reasonably priced- I spent under $10, including leaving a 20% tip. I'd give it 10 stars if I could! Looking forward to stopping in again tomorrow before my plane leaves!

"OMG" Where do I begin... Alex, of course! This guy is an absolute GEM! His personality alone will make you not want to leave. He suggested the in-house crafted Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Filthy (non-traditional ground chai powder) Chai. The avocado toast was made with love and that always makes things taste better than made with bitterness right!?! I wish I could take Alex back with me East Coast and hire him. That's how great he is - knowledgeable, charismatic and great listener. Skybound Coffee is truly blessed because if him!

Ordered online half hour before I went to pick up. When I arrived no one acknowledged me for a full ten minutes. When I asked if I could pick up a mobile order the man working shouted “when we have time!” Then continued ignoring me. Then a few minutes later with a very rude tone said “what order are you talking about?!” I explained and he went and found it. It had been ready the entire time I’d been there. By the time he finally handed it to me my coffee was cold. Only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because I’ve had much better service in the past. Safe to say I will not be returning. I understand being busy but being rude is unacceptable.
I really like the atmosphere at this place. They had vintage Blues playing in the background and it had an open, inviting feeling. I got The Hulk smoothie bowl with spinach, kale, acai, strawberries, bananas, organic honey and granola. It was delicious and it gave me a huge boost of energy! The friendly guy behind the counter also recommended a wonderful white tea blend that I'm in love with. I would have given them 5 stars but the girl behind the counter said something to me in a scolding manner that startled me a bit. There were many different ways she could have made the same point without being snarky. Overall a good experience though.
I got the Nutella cold brew and chocolate fantasy dessert. The Nutella cold brew was good, and the dessert was - until I noticed there was literally a HAIR on it…Will not be returning. This was my first time here. The service was also very poor, the person working at the counter was so rude it almost ruined my day. To think I dealt with someone with such a mean attitude just to pay them to give me a dessert with a hair on it.. wow. Waste of time and money. There are plenty of other places to eat at in Downtown. Go elsewhere where you’ll most likely be treated with more respect than this place.
The two drinks I'll get is the hot coco or the lava, the only food items I get from there is a bagel with butter. I've been here a couple of time never had issues with the employees but dam they take forever. Literally no customers in there and it takes them 15-20mins for a toasted bagel with butter. The drinks 20 mins, and I sometimes order ahead and still the same they take too long. I don't know why, it's super rare for them to have more than 3 customers in there at a time. Honestly now I just take the time to walk one more block to lani coffee shop, better service and they are faster.
Came here earlier in the morning during Comic-Con. Staff was friendly and they had a nice selection of drinks and treats. I wanted to try something different (other than a muffin, etc) so I ordered the Tokyo toast and iced cafe caramel. Tokyo toast had avocado, sesame oil, sesame seeds and crunchy rice noodles on top! It tasted great! The only downside was the wait for my order to be ready. It took maybe 20 minutes for full order to be completed. I wasn't in a rush, but was surprised by that.

Wow! We were on vacation in San Diego, and we were planning to go to Richard Walker’s Pancake House for breakfast. However, there was a HUGE line. So, we came here for instead, because it was right across the street. What a great decision it was. We got a classic sandwich, croissant sandwich, and a breakfast burrito. Everything was delicious! My son wanted a dessert, so we also got an affogato cioccolato. He loved it! The customer service was out of this world. We will be back the next time we’re in town!!!!!!!!!

Weird vibe.... barista needed me to see his designs... wouldn't just put lid on drink when order was to go. He said he wanted me to see that he was competent. At ther time I thought that was a little weird, but little did I know.... Even weirder coffee. I got their mocha oatmilk latte.... you can imagine my surprise when I realized they tried to make their own oatmilk by soaking oats in water. Soggy oatmeal flavored mocha anyone? No? Me neither...it was gross. I threw it out.... Now I understand the importance of me seeing the pretty designs...
I go back and forth on this place, the wait times are REALLY bad, but the food is pretty legit. The timing of the food prep is also really bad. By the time I get my Avacado toast, my wife is already done with her food. The owner seems crazy stressed the 3 times I've been there and that mood definitely trickles down to the rest of the employees. Having said that, the food is really good. It just takes time to get to you and I feel like they could time the prep right so the food comes out at the same time. Just my 2 cents (and my review)
Wonderful one stop coffee shop that has sandwiches 100% gourmet and bacon optional are vegetarian and off the hook gourmet menu items.. Alex was very helpful and greeted with a smile and helped select an item Asia sandwich menu and very beautiful decorations from the lights to big succulent plant display and very homey comfortable and surroundings and a nice enough people to sit in Alex did a wonderful job in the sandwich and explain it's artistry in sandwich. *100% satisfied in going to bring friends and family and definitely invest..
Please DO NOT order anything here. I normally don’t leave reviews like this but I wanted to share my experience. I ordered a Latte with their oat milk and a sandwich and when I tasted the latte it was sour. Not just the espresso, but the whole body of the drink. The oat milk must have been past expiration. And then when I took a bite from the sandwich, the middle of the egg pattie was a grey color. AHHH I was shocked, from now on I will not order from this place again. I have to prepare myself for possible food poisoning. Thank you!
We went there because my daughter wanted a boba tea. I'm glad we all decided to get something. The boba was everything she dreamed about. The standard drip coffee that I got was some of the best coffee I have ever had and I mean the best of any preparation I have ever had. The Nutella cold brew was decedent and almost the consistency of milk shake. The FloMango smoothie was beyond delicious. What I'm saying is you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

This place is absolutely fantastic, especially Juliette, they always make me feel right at home here whenever I order, (I'm usually an idiot who doesn't know what I want). Seriously don't go to any other coffee shop in the big Diego, it's not worth it.

We stopped in for a quick bite here during comic con. The food and drinks were both made quickly, and everything we had here tasted great! They have a good amount of seating both inside and outside, so even during comic con we found a table. This place was really cute and I'd definitely come here again if I was looking for a quick breakfast while downtown.

Meh - I love to try out different coffee shops when I travel. The reviews looked good, and I came in to get a coffee and maybe dessert. Dessert looked great. Staff didn't really seem to care to acknowledge me, and continued phone conversation. Reviews say staff is warm and friendly - I didn't get that. Couldn't hear what they were saying, but the background noise and my being tired may have played a factor. Bought a small latte which was great, but the lack of atmosphere didn't really make me want to stay long.
The food here is good. The coffee is just awful. We ordered two pour overs which took 20 minutes to make and tasted like cigarette ashes. It was really undrinkable. A pour over is not for taking taking any beans and using good technique. Need to start with good coffee beans. We poured out the coffee and got our pour over somewhere else.

Friend and I were coffeshop-hopping on an all-day writing spree and decided to try this place out. The service was amazing. He oriented us to the store, the menu, recommendations, etc. and really made us feel welcome. There was a really loud and disruptive group there at the same time and he handled them like a pro. The dessert and lava (lavender-vanilla) latte were both great, but together were very, very sweet! Will go back and get a more balanced combo probably. Otherwise, great experience.
The sandwich bread is really good! We had the classic sandwich and another on ciabatta bread, and a bagel with cream cheese. The sandwiches are good portions and satisfying - and tasted good.

If you want to eat within a reasonable time frame DO NOT choose here. 2 star for excellent coffee. Our experience: food order day 1 waited 30 minutes. Tried again following day as convenient to hotel, told 30 minutes on placing order, no worries happy to wait, however 40 minutes later told another 30. We left. Hope they enjoyed the gratuity we left in good faith. Sadly we didn’t get the service.

This is my favorite coffee shop by far. Me and my fiance had our first date here years ago and we still continue to come here today. The baristas are very friendly and always make you feel welcomed. And they always remember us even when were absent for long. A super cute, relaxing place I can (and have) spend hours at. Definitely a very special place for us! (Delicious food and drinks for a reasonable price too!)
Cali latte was absolutely divine. Order the skybound açaí bowl with it! Adding to my review - I ate here several days in a row during comic-con this year and as hectic as the city is, these folks are still so fantastic! They’re helpful and patient and work so hard to feed everyone. The açaí is always delicious and the breakfast croissant was delightful too.

Finally, a coffee shop that is also a lounge, complete with comfy cushioned seating, mellow vibe, tasty desserts, fresh local ingredients made in-house AND BAGELS!!! A little pricey but, I guess that’s what ya gotta pay for quality and local house-made stuff. Oh yea, and they’ve got local craft beer too, awesome! Would be cool if they were open 24/7 though. Night owls are people/paying customers too.
Definitely stop by this cafe if you’re in town for a conference or in the area! Avocado toast was great - the bread was FANTASTIC. The staff is so kind (didn’t get the manager’s name, but he elevated the experience with his welcoming personality, jokes and recommendations - just one of those genuinely happy people you rarely come across) - we went there everyday for a quick breakfast and a coffee.
Great little spot and Alex is the MAN!!!!! I don’t even live in San Diego but every time I’m down here I always stop by this place. It’s better then Starbucks. If you go you gotta try one of the limeade drinks especially the Fresh Ginger Limeade!!! One of the if not the best part of Skybound is Alex and his personality, he has jokes for days (granted they are dad jokes) but he’s a funny guy.
Came in for breakfast and had the sunrise sandwich and mocha. The mocha was perfectly creamy and sweet as I like it and the sandwich was excellent. The potatoes I felt were a little salty

We came here when the pancake house across the street was too busy for our taste. Not only were the breakfast sandwiches delicious and filling, but the service was some of the most excellent I have ever received. Extremely friendly, sweet staff who were very accommodating and happy to help us. All of the staff were excellent! What a wonderful breakfast experience.
Alex was the only one working here when we arrived and he was polite all the customers and got everything done as efficiently as possible. Despite arriving at 5 in the morning for his shift oh, he still had the best attitude at 2 in the afternoon!! We thought he was the owner! I would be happy to have an employee like Alex!! Thank you! Oh and it was delicious too!
Coffee was warmish but not hot, taste was ok. After telling me that making the açai bowl will take 15 minutes, the staff were not able to let me know that they finished the preparation. After asking i got a slimy bowl. Taste was nothing special. Been there, done it, but never again.

Got a nice sandwich and a hot pot of tea for a reasonable price for the area. Nice seating and good free WiFi but the tables are wobbly so not the best for extended laptop use. Nice staff. Lots of coffee selections that I won't ever be able to test the entire variety of. Good to stop by to talk or for an easy going bite. They don't have any chicken sandwiches.
Happened upon this place by chance while looking for a nearby tea place. Great atmosphere, and the Chai Latte I ordered was excellent. Best of all was the service offered by Alex at the counter. He made an instant connection with every customer I saw enter and usually got at least one laugh out of people before they left. Keep up the great customer service!
It's a really nice small place. People are nice and the coffee is great. I got smoohties for my sons and its really good. There are places outside to sit and if you have baby in stroller, that's okay. It has some room near the front of the restaurant. I have a big stroller myself so it was nice having the kids inside before they played at the park nearby.
Very rude counter staff. He Completely took my medium latte and medium americano order down wrong 3 times in a row. Then overcharged me and then claimed I incorrectly ordered 3 times. The place is a joke. The guy behind the counter was very rude. I ended up cancelling the entire order and walking out

I really enjoy the Lava Latte that they serve here. It is one of my favorite coffees to grab when I am in town! Additionally, their staff is always so kind and seem genuinely happy to be there. It is always a pleasure to visit. As a side note, I was really happy to see them open and properly following the COVID regulations today. Thank you so much!
We used to love coming here when in town for the bagels and açaí bowls. But when we went this week the açaí bowl took a full 30 minutes to come out while other guests were served and the bagels avocado looked worse than subway avocado quality. Fine if you have time to wait I guess. Disappointed

My favorite from Skybound, Purple Tea! Get the large, you won't regret it. Also this Cafe is the only one that will make me a no sugar added Acai bowl :) thank you Skybound! The staff deserves a raise, especially during comic con as you'd think they were a huge chain that week and not a smaller Cafe downtown. Always my go-to spot. :)
I got the chocolate and banana frappe with oat milk and added caramel drizzle to the cup and it was *chefs kiss* I love that they have milk substitutes and they are so easy to walk to! The staff is super friendly and upbeat! I also got the breakfast sandwich which was on hearty amount of eggs Percy way to start off my work morning!
We were walking around downtown San Diego and wanted to have a great dessert. We remember this place from about a year ago and decided to give it a try again. This time I think the dessert was better than the last time. Service was excellent too. Many thanks to the young man that helped us with our order. We will be back

This place is amazing! Everything is their menu is delicious. One of the pet friendliest coffee shop in downtown. The staff is friendly and professional. Highly recommendable to take a break or do some work! Stop by early, this place opens early great to get a quick snack after a long morning run.
The lady working there was extremely rude and seemed annoyed that we even walked into the store. The Thai Tea and Jasmine Tea were very watered down and the boba tasted like burnt rubber. I had a very bad experience, but maybe it was only because it was that one lady working there who was rude.
Service was 5 stars however boba isn't prepared correctly (too dense, too hard in the middle). If you are charging $1 per scoop compared to other places $0.75 I'd make sure it is good thus ducking one star. Did not try the food yet.

Excellent place. Paula and Alex run a great ship. Food was fresh and avocado toast was better than most restaurants. Quick and easy. No lines like everywhere else. 10 all around. Bagels are fresh every morning. When in San diego quick and fast so we can enjoy the day. …
Just finished a yummy & filling açaí bowl & big capuchino in their outdoor seating. The view, relaxed vibe and friendly staff are unmatched. The whole place exemplifies the fun, friendly, family-owned and laidback vibe I love in San Diego. Will definitely be back.

Came here after arriving in town, and the manager was nothing short of amazing. Attentive, and friendly to my order. We ordered the espresso and Acai bowl, both well made.

Good food- absolutely Amazing taste- hell yeah Unbelievable staff— beyond description!! EXCELLENT place to grab a good healthy breakfast/drink/lunch/dessert in San Diego— And you’ll be laughing at all the commentary and side comments!!!
Awesome place, we originally was going across the street to Richard's pancake house but they stayed with enormous line. Came her instead and so glad we did. Love this place and we will be coming back 2mrw. Purple tea and acai bowl, yummmm.
Tiny little place that is trying their best. Teas were legit, food was average. The wait on food was pretty long. Not nearly as interesting a dessert or coffee selection as the name suggests. Great for a snack but not really a destination.
Great coffee, friendly staff, and delicious food all conviently located right in the Gaslamp district.

I believe, I just had my best bagel sandwich. Good jalapeno bagel, good herbed cream cheese, fresh tomatoes and spinach, served open faced with a big smile. First cold brewed coffee that I liked, a truly silky smooth brew.
Such a happy environment with amazing employees! Very good an answering questions and making suggestions. We got a vegan hot chocolate, vegan mousse and some teas. Everything has been so good! Highly recommend for a treat
Will want to try other items on menu someday, but happened to stop here while on break from jury duty. Was craving Thai tea with boba. The boba was unfortunately hard and chewy and won't be getting that from here again.
Delicious food, served in good time, comfortable seating and atmosphere. We ordered pancakes, breakfast burritos and avocado toast...all excellent! Next time we are in San Diego, we will definitely eat breakfast here.
The guy behind the counter was extremely nice and the atmosphere was really chill. I wasn't a huge fan of their cheesecake though :/

I love this place definitely coming back. I ordered the tropical acia bowl and a French roast coffee it was very good and surprisingly the acia bowl was not too sweet. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The people are real friendly and the food is good, just be prepared for a long wait. They forgot our drinks and while we waited a bit for our food, I still would come back. Avocado toast was my favorite.
Great customer service. I enjoyed my turkey pesto sandwich with green smoothie Highly recommended. Come check it out .

Friendly service, but over priced. We spent $45 for a shared cold brew, avacado toast and a breakfast sandwich. The food was good but nothing spectacular. The ambiance was lacking. I wouldn't go back.
Not even an exaggeration, my 11 year old son tried their purple tea and then begged to get it each day of our vacation. Good prices, amazingly nice employees, and quick: a win all around.
Over all nice experience! (5/5) Quiet and cozy environment. Lovely decoration. Really friendly staff. (5/5) Tiramisu tastes good (5/5) Milk tea tastes okay. Boba is not that bouncy. (4/5)
Place was nice and the coffee was good. We had a Nutella cold brew and masalla chai latte and both were delicious. We also had a chocolate cake that was good but it was very sweet.
Got two croissants sandwiches and a ice Vietnamese coffee, drink was alright.. But food served by the female, easy on the eyes, with ear piercing made me smile. Definitely 5 star.
So good! Not the cheapest option because they actually care about the ingredients. Utensils and serving containers are to go and don't get recycled. Everything tastes delicious.
Came here when the family is checking out Midway USS. The cold brew with caramel flavor suggested was good. The ambient was not exactly how I expected, but I love their music.
You should have it posted that you are cashless on ur website we took an Uber over and only had cash on us then when we got there couldn't order cause they were cashless
Exceptionally kind staff. Fantastic chocolate truffle. I believe they have one of the world's finest espressos coffee being ranked in the top 20 of the world.
went in for some coffee and dang the nutella cold brew was so good! it was like an iced hot chocolate. i also got a pumpkin bread that was super moist.
Their coffee is amazing, with a great body, flavor, and test. If you are close, do not pass by without step in.

Best coffee in town!! Snacks are super good too, and the staff is really nice! My new favorite spot! Forget Starbucks, help the local businesses!
We ate the Foxy Loxy bagel and Avocado Toast with smoothies - 'Popeye' and 'Acai and berry '. Food was tasty and toasted to our preference.
Great service and delicious food. Avocado toast and Chimichurri toast were fresh and tasty. Salmon bagel and crepe were also really good.
Delicious eggnog latte and goat cheese muffin. Will definitely stop by this place again, can't wait to try their other drinks and chews.
Tried their Vietnamese coffee and went back everyday till I was there. Loved it!
