After many years of passing by it I finally visited Allama Iqbal Museum (Iqbal Manzil), and it was worth every minute as it takes you down the history lane for a peek at one of subcontinent’s most iconic leader, inspirational scholar and revolutionary poet. You will come across his whole life story under one roof, such as info about his parents, his teacher, his spouses, his educational and honorary degrees, his professional achievements, other personal items of use, clothing, walking sticks, caps, prayer-mat, carpets, bedroom, living area, letters written to him and by himself to other famous people, his legendary poems and uplifting verses, he wanted to live and die as a Shaheen (Hawk) which doesn’t build a nest, so Allama Iqbal had only bought this house for his son and used to pay him rent as well. Everything is quite well preserved and kept and the captions are self explanatory for visitors. It was sad to see it absolutely empty at a time when we should encourage our children, youngsters and populous as a whole to pay a visit to this great man’s legacy and learn a lesson or two on living the true meaning of Life, while walking out.

An important national monument i.e. Javed manzil is the last residence of Philosopher, Thinker, and Poet of the East Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, which is situated near this museum. After spending last three years (1935-38) of his life he lost his breath on 21st April 1938 in this house. Javed manzil was built on about 7 kanals of land, spending Rs.42025/- under the supervision of Allama Iqbal,s elder brother Sheikh Atta Muhammad. Keeping in view the significance of this house it was converted into historical house museum housing the relics and belongings of Allama Iqbal. Javed Manzil is a late period colonial building, devoid of any significant decorative features and architectural elements. Most prominent is portico visible from the present front on the main road.

The Javed Manzil or the Allama Iqbal Museum is a monument and museum in Lahore, Pakistan. Muhammad Iqbal lived there for three years, and died there. It was listed as a Tentative UNESCO site, and was protected under the Punjab Antiquities Act of 1975, and declared a Pakistani national monument in 1977. In honour of Iqbal, a Pakistani national poet it was converted into a museum, inaugurated in December 1984. In my opinion there was none else of Allama Iqbal who could deserve this much respect and respect as this person did and does. He inspired people with his everlasting poems. We salute you Iqbal RA.

It was amazing. Well maintained, clean and free of cost. The museum was designed to inspire. Walking through rooms containg Allama Iqbals degrees, his famous poems written in his own hand writing, his clothes, and his everyday use items... it does something to you. It is so peaceful yet everything there speaks volumes. The best part ofcourse, is Allama Iqbals bed room. The place where he died and his wall clock stopped at the exact moment when it happened. It is sure to give people goosebumps. I urge everyone to visit, at least once. And donate as much as you can to keep this museum going and to preserve the belongings of this great poet.

Allama Muhammad Iqbal's last residence This house located near Lahore Railway Station is the last residence of Pakistan's national poet/ philosopher Muhammad Iqbal. Allama Iqbal lived here from 1935 til his death in 1938. The rooms are kept in the same state as they were in the 1930s and an elevated platform is built for the visitors who can access almost the entire house. Several of Allama Iqbal's personal items are preserved and displayed, including original furniture, clothes, medications and original manuscripts and diaries. Very well maintained and a must see for everyone.

A homage to brilliance and thought, the Allama Iqbal Museum stands as a guardian of history, cradling the final days of the great philosopher. Within its walls, his personal artifacts find sanctuary, immaculately preserved, a bridge between past and present. The museum whispers tales of his wisdom and struggles, a testament to a life well-lived. Though the library's whispers are yet to echo through the halls, its ongoing transformation promises a future where his words will ignite minds once more.

Visited it last week. Such a calm place with historic glimpses of Dr. Allama Iqbal. Almost everything of his daily usage is present here, his letters, poetry, suits, carpets, rare photographs. Inside the museum, photography is not allowed, so these pictures are just outside the museum. Entry to the museum is totally free of cost.
