Perfect place for readers. There are immersive seating area, featuring a desk & a chair. Intensifies the focus into reading much more, as it eliminates most distraction. Books. Though there are subjects of wide ranges, but fall short on variety of books. Example IT books, their collection looks pretty impressive, but most books are updates of previous editions. Similar fate is of the history section. Arab world history books are cover-ups the most shelf area. The remaining shelf area, the rest of the world. Not surprised with the lack of variety there too. Distractions. Every library goer knows, that libraries do have distractions. Most distractions are minute in nature. That we recover quickly, and get back to business. Al Ras library has distracting elements from users who aren't reader per se. Because of the difficulty create for readers or students, so ignorantly. They can be best found with their laptops, chatting, watching videos, music, downloading torrents. Don't get me wrong, I too bring my laptop, watch video, listen audio or music, but I plug-in my headphones, make sure even headphone volume is low, which is comfortable to hear. I have made complaints, but thing really happens. The guard on duty does his rounds, but doesn't stop such activity. There is an newspaper reading, where such folks can continue their activity, but they don't move their despite my request. The aids, who work their are just too loud. They some times, hide behind the shelf, talk on their cellphones. I am not against talking on cellphones, I understand talking for a minute or two. Talking for 5 or more minutes at times 20 minutes. They should go outside and talk. Once the aids were given work to pick every book, and tear our old 'Return entry' pages from every book. The pick up the book, find the pages, chatting along loudly, then dashed the books against the shelf. It looked as if they weren't keen on doing the job, and do they did by making noise as kids do. The basic stuff that really maters. The toilets are clean, approachable. A water cooler is also provided with-in the facility. AC cooling is great. Light is enough to read well. Affordable membership, and free wifi for members. Suggestions, Distractions are subjective, and part & parcel for those struggling to focus. So not much to say there. In the future, I am looking forward for more books, more self-help books. Also more immersive reading area. Finally longer hours, because most work places are between 9am-6pm, a commute of 2 hours, and then we find the library is closed. Then there is Friday, I understand a holiday is needed, but on Saturdays too the library is closed. Summary, All in all, I find that Al Ras library can improve. At the same time, it is a great place for those who don't like shopping malls for entertainment.

Pros: - Good place to study - Calm and peaceful - Good collection of books which covers all domains - Staff is really helpful - Affordable membership fee - Catalog search facility which we can request books from any library in Dubai (wow!) Cons: - Library is closed on weekends. Weekends are the only time we get chance focus on studies. But unfortunately all Dubai libraries are closed during weekends. Please consider to keep them open at least on Saturday. We don’t mind if the libraries are closed two days during weekdays. - I have applied for my library card nearly 1 year ago. Still didn’t receive the card. - Website is under construction for years now - Not accepting online registrations and online book reservations - No place to drink water, except buying from the small shop

My experience at Rashidya public library has been very negative! I have been visiting this library for the past 10 years sporadically and I am yet to see them offer activities for the children. Many times I have found them closed during working hours, their WiFi is almost always down. Their computers are totally outdated and they are very slow in processing book checkout and check in. They don't have a book check in drop box like most libraries. They don't communicate to their members changes in policies and will not give you a break when you are caught not knowing. Furthermore, their English selection of books in the adult section is very poor and very old. The selection of books in the children library is very nice however.

الله على جمال المكتبات العامه فيكى يا دبى ربنا يجعلها فى ميزان حسنات من فكر فيها ومن بناها ومن يديرها الان ويعمل فيها مكتبة الراشديه قمه فى النضافه والهدوء والنظام الموظفين قمه فى الاحترام بيساعدوك فى كل حاجه ولو فيه كتب او فعاليات جديده بيقولوا عليها احيانا ادخلها وانا حالتى النفسيه سيئه اخرج منها وانا سعيده الحمدلله لكن اتمنى اولا ان كل مكتبه يبقى فيها فعالياتها مش كله فى مكتبة الصفا لانها بعيده بالنسبه لناس كتير ثانيا اتمنى عمل فرع للمكتبات العامه فى الورقاء او مردف ثالثا الرجاء من الاهالى تشجيع الاطفال على الحفاظ على الكتب وعدم تقطيعها حتى يستفيد منها غيرنا فالمسلم منظم ونظيف

What a fantastic place, I feel that I lost a lot by not visiting this library or other public libraries before. The Library was opened thirty three years ago, and still feel in excellent shape. It is well maintained and serviced, it has prayer rooms as well. The collection of books for all ages, the quietness of library, the amazing staff make it nice venue to visit, read books and enjoy time. I highly recommend it.

I recently became a member and was amazed by the collection of this library, thanks to Sheikha who assisted me and solved all my queries, they have huge collection of interesting books related to academic and non academic field, found a lot of my favorite authors as well, the ambience is very calm and quiet which provides a perfect place for readers like me.

I don't know if I just visited on the wrong day but this library has basically become an internet cafe for kids playing online games, talking on their cellphones and loudly discussing the day's events. The "please keep quiet" signs are not observed by anyone - including the staff. Good luck in quietly working through any complex book.

It's a lovely library but I'm a tad disappointed that I can never ask my husband to visit the library with our son because men are not allowed in the children's section - even when there's absolutely no one there! Father's should bond with their children too (and give mummy a break and a chance to peruse the grown-up collections!)

I love this library so much that I want a little corner inside it, just a tiny one, so that I can move in and never leave LOL. Their book selection is heaven, and staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and their travel book selection is inspirational and extensive. Travel and books together under one roof.

Public libraries should be open every single day, not just on work days as it makes no sense whatsoever to close when the majority of working adults ahave the time to visit and use your facilities. That's how public libraries operate around the developed world. Thank you

Nice quite place to relax and get away from the rustle and bustle of the big city that is dubai. I mean the malls are nice but they are always packed. This place is nice and quiet. Great place to chill and surf the web if you don't have wifi at your hotel or residence.

One of the best place for studying, gives you a calm quite environment, with different books and PC avalible for your research studies. A outstanding place for children's and adult, with your own specific field books can be checked from the libarary and studied.

Complete all what you need at a wonderful and quite place . But those who can't endure lower AC temprature - unfortunately like me :(- am sorry for telling you that you will suffering only if u wear more than a shirt :D

The place is excellent, with calm and quite background. The only issue is sometimes the librarians tend to be very loud and noisy while interaction between themselves
