"Baradari of Kamran Mirza ( کامران کی بارہ دری) is a summer pavilion in Lahore, Pakistan"
Kamran Murad's Bara Dari (کامران کی بارہ دری), inside River Ravi- Near Shahdara Lahore Pakistan Kamran's Bara Dari (Twelve Door Pavilion) and Garden is the oldest Mughal structure in Lahore, which is often bypassed on the way to anywhere from Lahore, crossing the Ravi River in the Shah Dara area. It is said that it was Mirza Kamran in 1540 who ruled Lahore during 1535-1540. He was the son of Babur and half-brother of Emperor Humayun. Soon after Babur's death, Humayun ascended the throne and Kamran captured Lahore in 1530. Bara Dari was built as a summer resort, so this place served as a summer resort for the Mughal rulers and their families. It was a time when Ravi flowed for a considerable distance but after the river changed its route it became an island. During the British rule, the red sandstone Bara Dari was used as a toll house to collect toll from boats. After independence, it was renovated and became a tourist attraction. It is about a 15-minute drive from the walled city.

It is called Kamran ki Baradari. Bara means twelve and dar means doors. Kamran ki baradari was a twelve door building on the bank of River Ravi. The baradari structure itself is a testimony to the engineering skill of Mughal builders. At the end of 19th century, Latif recorded “for more than half a century has the impetuous current of the ancient Ravi struggled to annihilate its walls, whose feet it washed, but with the exception of a portion washed away at a time beyond the memory of the living generation, the edifice stands quite unaffected by the ebb and flow of the majestic river.” The river that once flowed close to the city walls changed course during the first half of the 18th century, and destroyed the edifices and gardens laid by Mughal nobility. Mirza Kamran’s garden shared the same fate, although a few traces of old garden paths can still be seen. The baradari originally stood at the edge of the Ravi River, but over time, the course of the river changed and the site became an island. Sometime over the course of the centuries the river flooded, taking half the baradari along with it. As Mughal buildings are generally symmetrical, it was possible for historians to infer the design of the lost portion and it was rebuilt in 1989 at a cost of 19.6 million rupees about $1 million USD at the time. Unfortunately, the restoration extended to the remaining half and resulted in the total replacement of its surface decoration including the few fragments of original decoration to have survived. Of the gardens, very few traces survived in the late 20th century and a new garden based partially on Mughal motifs was built to the west of the Baradari.

National hertiage thats what it is, no preservation is what it is experiencing. Art inside it was so valuable that it will stun your eyes, so ancient and beautiful. The colors, the sense and the craftsmanship will take you to the time of kings. I have one bad thing about lahoris, as much as the history have given them, they dont keep it clean. Throwing any and everything in parks. We can reach here through water (50 PKRS for round trip) and through land. It is in the middle of Ravi but as Ravi belongs to India waterwise, we dont have alot of water in it so on one side ppl have made fields by raising land and thats where u can reach here from land. Ravi needs water, water will be the reason of so many wars after 100 years and another huge reason why Kashmir cant be independent rather the main reason, it was never abt the land, in kashmirz case it was always abt water. You will not find any history about place on any stone there, no worker from ppl who r supposed to preserve these places were there or atleast i havent seen any. Dont worry utube or an odd show on TV will tell you what it is. But it is beautiful, some old king wouldhave enjoyed here centuries before, the sunsets and sunrises or perhaps complete evenings. The very incredibly competant punjab Gov needs to take a look here. Make it an earning place, local guides can earn money. Do something about water in Ravi, you need to look into this as well. Improve the boats that take ppl accross during high tide and as much little water ravi had it is full of junk. So much to do, so so much. Best of luck but as a visiter, if you r student of arts and history, u will find a lot here. Feast your imagination by visiting the place.
Baradari of Kamran Mirza ( کامران کی بارہ دری) is a summer pavilion in Lahore, Pakistan. It was built in 1540 by Kamran Mirza, a son of first Mughal emperor Babur, and a brother of the second Mughal emperor Humayun. The building is believed to be the oldest existing Mughal structure in Lahore, and is the only garden in Lahore's Shahdara Bagh area that was not converted into a funerary monument. After Babur's death in 1530, Kamran Mirza seized Lahore and laid a garden in which the baradari was built in 1540. At the time of construction, the baradari was on the western bank of the River Ravi in the Shahdara Bagh region,[4] though it now stands on an island in the middle of the river, due to shifts in the river's course. The pavilion remained in use by Mughal royals until the 18th century. After the British annexed Punjab in 1849, the pavilion was turned into a tollhouse for boats crossing the river. It was also mentioned as Turgurhwallee Baradari in an 1867 map of Lahore, where it was shown located on the western bank of the river. Part of baradari's eastern façade had been damaged by floods by the 1850s, while the baradari's second story had also been damaged or dismantled around the same time.[6] The pavilion sustained further damage by flooding in 1958. It was reconstructed in 1989 at a cost of 19.6 million rupees (about $1 million). Like all baradaris, the structure has twelve doors. The pavilion was originally two levels with 12 columns of vaulted balconies. We arranged a Barb BQ party for our friends and enjoyed time.

Kamran's Baradari is the ostensibly the earliest known Mughal monument in Lahore, said to have been built by Prince Kamran in the 1520s. However, the pavilion more likely dates to the reign of Shah Jahan (1627-58) as certain architectural features such as the use of cusped arches were not employed until Shah Jahan's reign. The attribution of the structure to Prince Kamran likely derived from local oral traditions which were picked up by Latif when he collected material for his comprehensive book on Lahore's architectural heritage in 1892. The baradari originally stood at the edge of the Ravi river, but over time the course of the river changed and the site became an island. Sometime over the course of the centuries the river flooded, taking half the baradari along with it. As Mughal buildings are generally symmetrical, it was possible for historians to infer the design of the lost portion and it was rebuilt in 1989 at a cost of 19.6 million rupees (about $1 million USD at the time). Landmark of Mughal era. A beautiful baradari built in the river Ravi. Its located downstream to the Ravi bridge Niazi chowk. One can appraoch this place by boat and spend a beautiful there mid in the river on an island in a very scenic and quit atmosphere and environment. Its a leisure place build for do a fun bbq bone fire and music etc by mughal emperor away from the city noise in the river. It was time when river ravi was not handed over to india and it was really a river and its flow was worthseeing and much enjoyable. Its a very historic as well as beautiful place of lahore exit within the river ravi in the shape of an island.
Beautiful historical monuments but in shambles, disturbingly destroyed by local population, its more of children's playground than a historical place by the looks of it. One neglected place, with spray paints and scribble marks by uneducated people who do not understand the value of historical buildings. The Baradari is treated as the step child, unlike other Mughal monuments, its care is like that of an orphan child. No security personnel, no entry charges, this place is on its own. Not safe of single females because its crowded by cheap men who would stare at women with awkward eyes.
Historically it's amazing place to visit. It was built in 1540 by ⚡Kamran Mirza⚡, a son of first Mughal emperor Babur, and a brother of the second Mughal emperor Humayun. Visit Guide Now a days, land route is also open to visit it on bike but it is only for young boys, not for family. Family should visit through boat and pay 50 Rupes for each passenger. Moreover, come back early in the evening , otherwise you will not get boat. Boat owners are very greedy, they will ask for more money. One more thing, there is no shop so take your food own your own even water. Thank you
A very scenic and historical place near river ravi lahore, from minar e pakistan toward river ravi via gt.road an slide road just on the edge and start of river ravi leading to the way, accessible parking and then to book a cruise per person rs.50 to round of the kamran baradari, takes 15 minutes to drop and visit there a beautiful garden history and scenic 360 view of river roof top of bara dari also accessible for the view of river and bridge ravi mist visit place for peaceful environment no quality food items offered need to arrange by own april 2019.
This is a quiet historical place with rich architecture. Usually there are very few tourists out there. Its doors and windows are grand in manufacture. Adjacent lawns and fountains add beauty to the scenery. Its not a picnic place but is a place to just go and be lost in history.Mughals constructed it to enjoy moonlight peeping from river Ravi. There is one hurdle though. You have to cross the river on a boat to and from it.Boat persons charge Rs 500 to 2000 depending upon no of people. Not advisable in summers.Winters is best time to go there
Nice location of a historical place that is not well known. Needs a huge amount of renovation and maintenance. Locals use the gardens for cricket practice causing damage to the 15th century gardens and paving. The kids use the pavilion as a playground with graffiti all over the building. Education required for the population to appreciate the historical significance of the place. Better transport links also required.

Kamran's Baradari is a very beautiful and ancient art structure buildings. I'm a photographer and this place is Heaven for me. Natural beauty and ancient vibes. But, to reach the actual location you have to sit in a boat and water is very polluted and smell is everywhere. If you can bear this you should have to go there. I only recommend those people who have Pashion for photos. Thank you.

Kamran's Baradari is extremely interesting building that often gets bypassed by tourists in Lahore. The main reason this building is so fascinating is because it’s extremely old. How old? Well records suggest it was built around 1540 by Emperor Humayun’s brother Kamran Mirza. That makes it one of the oldest major buildings in the entire history of the Mughal Empire. This place is located on an island in the middle of the river so it is necessary to travel by boat to get there.
On the River Ravi's edge, the Kamran Baradari stands, its glory days faded, its current state dilapidated. Once a regal pavilion, now a haunt for passersby, including TikTok creators and wanderers. Families might want to steer clear. Reachable by boat or a rough road, both paths echo the baradari's deterioration. A pool that no longer glistens reflects its condition. Amidst this, faint echoes of history remind us of its former grandeur, now tangled with neglect.
It is good place to visit there. Only for those who had took interest in old buildings and structures and in ancient places. Beacuse it is on the bank of ravi river u can’t directly approaches to this place u have to took a boat ride to cross river. The river and the all nearest area is bad polluted wich garbage and the waste of buffalos ans cows. There is to many animal farm are there. Government has to taken action for the cleaning service of this place.

Quite place you feel calm specially when you sit on the side of River Ravi and air hit on your face. But some steps must be taken by authorities are 1st one no proper track from Ravi River Bridge to Baradari and 2nd one is some people's ruined the beauty of place by putting their compliments, signatures etc on the walls of Baradari. And major issue is some addicted person use this historical place in a negative way.

There is very little space for car parking. The place is not well maintained. It smells of garbage. There are no benches or some other arrangement where you can sit. There is no shade or cover from the sun. Boat fare for a round trip to Kamran's Baradari and back was Rs.100 at the time of my visit.

Its kind of island of river Ravi near Shahdarh town, its peice of building along with some beautiful tree like a small jungal and big grounds&gardens of guava, so you can have peaceful moments here while having veiw of river Ravi. You can take boat to visit there, also your own vehical. Its Really nice place but totally ignored by government official and destroyed by harsh weather and visitors.
A beautiful garden made by mughal emperor to his entertainment. It is a quite place away from noise and pollution. A boat ride is required to reach this tiny island in the river ravi. Boat owners will charge you 50 Rs per person for return trip and there is no cost for visiting the Garden though. The marble structures, pool and patterns of plantation still shows significance history.
Ill maintained and ignored architecture. As a part of history, worth visiting in good weather. Avoid going in intense heat and dark Hours. Children to be kept in control as building is risky and ponds are not walled off. Two routes, one is by road Via Shahdra, 2nd is just beside Ravi River, where about 200 meters is to be crossed through boats with 100 rupees ticket.
Very bad place for family vist.no securty no family enviorment.Cleaning arrangements are also not good. Wanderer and loafer type people were walking around with girls. Extremes of obscenity. Extremely dirty place. The government wants to make it a family park only by providing good security and sanitation. Because it is a historical place and a heritage of Pakistan.
Like all baradaris, the structure has twelve doors. The pavilion was originally two levels with 12 columns of vaulted balconies. Best place for photography. Love this place alot. Nearby to the bank of river Ravi an osm view. 4/5 thumbs up....❤️

Kamran's Baradari is an 500 years old place constructed in Mughal empire in India. Is is situated inside Ravi River. I visit it and found it a very good place to visit. when you will visit Lahore you should visit this place. need to renovate building as per Mughal empire standard. it is tourist attraction place. I personally like it very much.
The place was not restored by the Government. The whole beautiful infrastructure is damaged. Please focus on this place and restore it so that everyone can come here to enjoy this place. Moreover; the way to Kamran's Baradari is not good enough, it's good to say that there's no proper way to this place.
Historical site is well preserved and maintained, it's a great recreational spot for picnic in suburbs of Lahore. Old mughal architecture and crafts work are muses for arts and literature aspirants. Wall chalking, lack of public toilets and security are main reasons I have deducted two stars from ratings.
Kamran Baradari is very Impressive or beautiful place you can see all around Area on The Top Roof also Weather is good having A lot of Greenery also Rive View Very Useful place for Photoshoot

Very attractive historical place but unfortunately not looked after by Government. It is at its pathetic condition due to negligence of Govt. It is fully crowded by drug addicts. Moreover the beauty of the walls has lost its charm beacuse of people rubbish writing upon the walls of Baradari.
Not a family friendly place. Although the river is scenic and beautiful but as a public asset it is poorly maintained and managed. Wall chalking on cultural building must be prohibited

It might be good place in past but now it is almost devastated. No proper maintenance of this amazing place. Abusive language and low standard poetry is visible all along the wall. No basic facilities like drinking water or washroom. If you plan to visit this, dont go in summer.
It was amazing place and so peaceful but I'm disappointed bcz there is no one who took care of the place. Alot of garbage and no security guard even there.

It is a historical place located in the middle of ravi river in lahore. It is called kamran ki bara dari and is constructed by the son of Mughal emporer Kamran who was the governer of Punjab. Very beautiful, peaceful, calm and natural place. Must visit please.
The place is so good. It was built in 1540 by Mughal prince Kamran Mirza, a son of first Mughal emperor Babur. But the road condition towards kamran baradari is so bad. Need so much improvement. If we don't do something we lose this place in coming decades.
Peaceful and relaxing place. May become a best tourist attraction in Lahore if properly maintained and look after. There is no cafe, no washrooms, no administration, no help desk, need extra care. Lawns and Pools should be properly cleaned and maintenance
The baradari was so dirty and it has all the graffiti over it. I was with UK foreigners and i was so embarrassed to see the condition of it. There were dirty pampers and garbage all around. Need a lot of clealiness and need renovation of …

The best place for photoshoot, a beautiful historical place. If you want to visit this place you should buy a ticket of 50Rs on Ravi river. The boatsman will transport you from one end to that end where baradari is present.
This is one of the oldest buildings from Mughal Era in Lahore. The boat ride across the river Ravi from the east Bank makes the trip worthwhile. The a Baradari itself looks mesmerizing particularly at sunset and sunrise.
Kamran s Baradri a historical place in West of Lahore at the bank of river Ravi . It was built by Mughal governor kamran in around 1530-1540 . It is typical Mughal pavilion . Very amazing place, it needs to renovation.

An ancient place that represents the Mughal Empire's Art but it is very sad that the government did played its part for keeping the originality of the place.
Not a vast place for visit and historical building is only one. Water around it is smelly and unclear. No eatings available. Not recommended for families.
Un-managed park, no maintenance staff, or security as many addictive persons are there and some people gaming, gabling, not suitable with faimly visit

This is a hostorical momunent situated in t ravi river but it is destroyed by locals. PTDC should put their efforts on its restoration.
تاریخی مقام اپنے محل وقوع اور شاندار فن تعمیر کے حوالے سے بڑی اہمیت کا حامل ہے۔ ہر سال بے شمار سیاح اس جگہ کی سیر کے لیے آتے ہیں
