I had a disappointing experience with the Ward office in Nepal. I applied for a simple senior citizenship allowance scheme, provided all the necessary documents, and even took my elderly mother along. However, the process dragged on for over three months, with multiple excuses like "mam is absent" or "come next month." I had to travel a long distance for each visit, and frustratingly, the job was not done even when I inquired over the phone. They insisted I should have called before visiting, creating a confusing and inconvenient cycle. Government offices are meant to serve citizens, but it felt the other way around in this case. Such experiences discourage younger people from returning to their home country. Improvement in communication and efficiency is urgently needed.
