রাজশাহী কলেজ গ্রন্থাগারে বহু মূল্যবান ও প্রাচীন গ্রন্থসহ সংস্কৃত, বাংলা পুঁথি ও সাময়িকী সংরক্ষিত আছে৷ ১৯৩৩ খ্রিস্টাব্দ পর্যন্ত গ্রন্থাগারে পুস্তক ক্রয়ের জন্য মাত্র চার হাজার টাকা বাৎসরিক বরাদ্দ ছিল এবং পুস্তক বাধাইয়ের জন্য বরাদ্দ ছিল মাত্র দুই শত টাকা৷ যদিও সেই সময় শিক্ষার্থীর সংখ্যা কম থাকা সত্ত্বেও ঢাকা কলেজ এবং চিটাগাং কলেজে পুস্তক ক্রয়ের জন্য অধিক অর্থ বরাদ্দ দেওয়া হত। ১৯৩৫ সালের রাজশাহী কলেজ রিপোর্টে দেখা যায় পাঁচ টাকা হারে জামানত প্রদানপূর্বক গ্রন্থাগার থেকে ছাত্ররা পুস্তক গ্রহণ করতে পারতো। বর্তমানে বৎসরে প্রায় তিন লক্ষ টাকার বই-পুস্তক, সাময়িকী এবং পত্র-পত্রিকা ক্রয় করা হয়ে থাকে। ডঃ জেঙ্কিনস্ (১৯৩২-৩৩) অধ্যক্ষের দায়িত্ব অর্পণ করার সময় ছেষট্টি খণ্ড (Volumes) মূল্যবান পুস্তক গ্রন্থাগারে দান করেছিলেন৷ কলেজ গ্রন্থাগারে প্রাপ্ত Catalogoue of books in Rajshahi College Library 1939, 1942, তত্কালীন সরকার কর্তৃক প্রকাশিত হয়৷ উল্লিখিত ক্যাটালগে “The rajshahi College Library contains nearly 25,000 volumes of books and a good collection of periodicals. রাজশাহী কলেজ গ্রন্থাগারে সংস্কৃত ভাষায় লেখা পাঁচ শতাধিক প্রাচীন পুঁথি রয়েছে৷ সংস্কৃত সাহিত্যের বেদ, পুরাণ, মহাকাব্য, কাব্য, তন্ত্র ইত্যাদি বিষয় নিয়ে এই পুঁথিগুলো লেখা৷ এই পুঁথিগুলোর অধিকাংশই দেশীয় উপকরণের সাহায্যে প্রস্তুত, হাতে তৈরি তুলোট কাগজে লেখা৷ এর কাগজ হরিতাল, অভ্র ইত্যাদির প্রলেপ দিয়ে জীবাণুমুক্ত করা হয়েছে৷ পুঁথিগুলো হরিতকি, হিঙ্গুল, অঙ্গার, ছাগদুগ্ধ, জবার কুড়ির সাহায্যে প্রস্তুত দেশীয় কালিতে লেখা৷ কালির রং ঘন কালো এবং দীর্ঘস্থায়ী। কঞ্চি, শর, ময়ূর বা শকুনের পালক দিয়ে তৈরি কলমে পুথিগুলো লেখা। পুথিগুলোর লিপিকাল যথাক্রমে শকাব্দ, সম্বত্ ও সনে লেখা৷ পুঁথিগুলো সেলাইবিহীন, কাঠের পাটাতনে বাঁধা রয়েছে৷ কোনটিতে পৃষ্ঠাঙ্ক দেয়া আছে৷ কোনটি আবার পৃষ্ঠাঙ্কবিহীন৷ বর্তমানে সুবিশাল লাইব্রেরিটি রাজশাহী কলেজের ঐতিহ্যের একটি অন্যতম ধারক। অসংখ্য দুষ্প্রাপ্য পুস্তক, পুঁথি ও সাময়িকীতে সমৃদ্ধ এই লাইব্রেরিটি কলেজের প্রশাসন ভবনের পশ্চিমে অবস্থিত৷ লাইব্রেরিতে সংগৃহীত পুস্তকের সংখ্যা প্রায় আঠাত্তর হাজার৷ প্রতি দিন গড়ে ৫০০ জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ও শিক্ষকবৃন্দসহ বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠানের গবেষকবৃন্দ এই লাইব্রেরিতে পড়াশুনার জন্য নিয়মিত আসেন৷ সম্প্রতি প্রয়োজনীয় পুনর্বিন্যাস করে পাঠযোগ্য স্থান সম্প্রসারণ এবং আসবাবপত্র সরবরাহ করে লাইব্রেরি ব্যবহারের সুযোগ বৃদ্ধি করে হয়েছে৷ লাইব্রেরির অভ্যন্তরীণ অংশ সংস্কার করে পাঠ পরিবেশ অধিকতর উন্নত করা হয়েছে৷ আধুনিক ব্রড ব্যান্ড ইন্টারনেট সুবিধা স্থাপনের মাধ্যমে লাইব্রেরিটি তথ্যবিশ্বের সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত হয়েছে৷ এতে করে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের জ্ঞান-বিজ্ঞানের বিভিন্ন বিষয় সম্পর্ক তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে জানাসহ বিভিন্ন পরীক্ষার ফলাফল প্রাপ্তি এবং শিক্ষা প্রশাসনের জরিকৃত সর্বশেষ তথ্য পাওয়ার সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। আজীবনকাল বিশ্বজনীন শিক্ষায় সহায়তা, মানুষের লব্ধ যাবতীয় জ্ঞান ও সংস্কৃতি অনুধাবনে সকলকে সামর্থ্য করে তোলা, লিপিবদ্ধ চিন্তাভাবনা এবং সৃজনশীল কল্পনাশক্তি সকলের কাছে পরিবেশন, শ্রান্তির নিরসন ও চিত্তবিনোদন কল্পে বই ও অন্যান্য মাধ্যমে মানসিক উত্কর্ষ সাধারন, কারিগরি, বৈজ্ঞানিক এবং সমাজবিজ্ঞান বিষয়াদির সর্বাধুনিক তথ্য পরিবেশনের মাধ্যমে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের পূর্ণাঙ্গ সহযোগিতা প্রদানে রাজশাহী কলেজ লাইব্রেরি তার অনন্য ভূমিকা ঐতিহাসিকভাবে পালন করে আসছে৷ যা অতীত এবং বর্তমানের মাঝে সাঁকো হিসাবে মানব সমাজের ভবিষ্যত্ আলোর পথ রচনা করে চলেছে৷

Rajshahi College Library has preserved many valuable and ancient books including Sanskrit, Bengali Punthi and periodicals. Till 1933, the library had an annual allocation of only four thousand rupees for purchase of books and only two hundred rupees for books. Although the number of students at that time was less, Dhaka College and Chittagong College were allocated more money for the purchase of books. The Rajshahi College report of 1935 shows that students could borrow books from the library on deposit of five rupees. At present, books, periodicals and newspapers worth about three lakh rupees are purchased annually. Today, the vast library is one of the custodians of Rajshahi College's heritage. The library is located west of the college administration building, stocked with numerous rare books, articles and periodicals. The number of books collected in the library is about seventy eight thousand. Every day an average of 500 students and teachers along with researchers from different institutions come regularly to study in this library. Recently the necessary re-arrangement has increased the use of the library by extending the reading space and providing furniture. The interior of the library has been renovated to further improve the reading environment. The library is connected to the information world by installing modern broadband internet facilities.
