The university was founded by the Government of Bangladesh according to a university act in 1986 to give special importance in science and technology education. SUST was established as the first specialized science & technology university of the country. After SUST, seven more science and technology universities have been established in Bangladesh. SUST is traditionally known for research and education in the physical sciences and engineering. It is one of the most selective higher learning institutions, and received 41,285 undergraduate applicants for 2015-2016 session only admitting 1,448; an acceptance rate of 3.51%. Shahjalal University of Science and Technology was established in 1986. The campus is located in Kumargaon, approximately six kilometers away from the heart of Sylhet City Centre. The university started its academic programme with three departments: physics, chemistry and economics. The first convocation of SUST was held on 29 April 1998 and the second convocation held on 6 December 2007.[4] SUST is the first university in Bangladesh providing whole campus free Wi-fi access for students and staf The university introduced an integrated honors course for the first time in Bangladesh and it introduced the semester system (American credit system) from the 1996-97 session. According to the masterplan for the university, within a few years Shahjalal University of Science and Technology will be one of the finest institutions of the region. The university students invented and introduced the paperless 24/7 SMS Based Automated Registration of Admission Test procedure for the first time in Bangladesh. Interested students can complete the registration process through mobile phone messages. The contemporary government launched the system on 13 September 2009.For the invention, the University won an Ambillion Award in a competition of South Asian countries in 2010[5] and National Award for E-Content and ICT for Development Award 2010. Now, most of the public universities in Bangladesh have adopted this process of registration.

But I found thay place a bit unclean and untidy, but overall the place is great to have a great view of the campus of SUST.

This is an auditorium of SUST. Different cultural and academic programs are arranged here.There is a large stage with good sitting system.Sound quality and light systems are good.Often different movies are showed here.Apart from these, many national and international seminars are arranged. Washrooms are pretty good. Any one can buy a ticket and enjoy the public programs like concert and movies.There is a large space infront of the auditorium where you can park your car.

Good auditorium, has two levels and can sit roughly 700 people comfortably. Though more suitable for performance instead of presentations. Very recently constructed, though lack of programs means that the green room can be little smelly. Loved to present there. The college campus is though one of best campus ever in Bangladesh in terms of natural beauty. Will definitely want to spend a night here, walking around in serene atmosphere.

And sound quality is also good. The auditorium is large enough that at least 700 to 800 spectator can sit comfortably.

The architecture building is so nice and the view is also awesome. This is close to the central shaheed minar of this university.In any small or large occasion or ceremony, this auditorium is decorated beautifully and the students organize their programs here.

Well, I got to see a lot of movies here. I also had the opportunity to attend a seminar in this very auditorium. And recently, I got to be at Arnob's concert there, as well. It was pure bliss. I'd probably love this auditorium just because of this one memory.

শাহাজালাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সবুজ ক্যাম্পাসের সাথে অডিটোরিয়ামের স্থাপত্য মানিয়ে গিয়েছে। অনুষ্ঠান উপভোগ করেও ভাল লাগলো। প্রতিধ্বনির সমস্যা নেই। মঞ্চও বেশ বড়। টয়লেট ব্যবস্থা, আলোকসজ্জা, শব্দ সবই মানসম্মত। স্থানীয় কিংবা জাতীয় পর্যায়ে অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজনের জন্য চমৎকার।

A beautiful campus with plenty of green space. In the worlds of industry, research, and academia, it is a respected institution. I had a great time there. It’s a thriving, stimulating community with excellent facilities set in a beautiful parkland setting.

This is one of the beautiful and biggest auditorium in Sylhet Division. Too much beautiful place to enjoy the program. We have organized several programs for Sports Sust and Department of Economics. It is always a pleasure for me to go to the place.

Nice auditorium with good backstage space, lighting provisions and enough seats. Air-conditioning system is good. The handles of the seats have one major problem, the skrews used for attaching the armrest often penetrate it and may hurt you.

A variety of cultural and social events are organized in this auditorium. Such as dancing, singing, giving speeches, etc. It is only included in the university. Except for the university, there is no outside program here.
