This 5 floor building allows you to see Shanghai's development from the very beginning. It's very interesting as there are comparison photos of Shanghai over the years, gigantic models of the city, model buildings, including different forms of information such as text, documentaries, videos, pictures etc. It'll be able to satisfy most people's interests, as there are exhibitions on a range of aspects such as the environment, economy, architecture, culture, the future, other cities, development, the good and bad etc. Also has interactive elements including games which will be good for kids. The latest photos in the museum are from 2018, so definitely not out of date as some people worry about. 95% of the information in the museum is in English, with just 1-2 small exhibitions that have just English captions and no descriptions. You can spend a couple of hours here if you want to go to each individual room. There is alot of information. Cost: 30 RMB per person How to get there: People's Square Subway (line 1, 2, 8), take exit 3, turn left and it's right in front of you. The ticket office is on the left of the front door. Other: There are bathrooms, with souvenir shops, and also a cafe on the top floor with a nice view across the adjacent road. Don't take huge bottles of water or other drinks with you, as you have to go through a security check before you go inside.

Very unique museum with well done interactive exhibits. Love the timeline from bottom floor being the oldest and working your way up to most recent history. Incredibly impressive city models. The end of the museum takes you on a virtual flight throughout the city. It truly does feel like you are flying, which is a warning to those who easily get car sick. Perfect for the architect/history buff in your life.

SHANGHAI'S AMAZING DEVELOPMENT ON DISPLAY This centre has some amazing exhibits relating to Shanghai's progress. There is a not-to-be missed panorama of the whole city taking up one floor of this five floor exhibition. 30 Yuan entry fee is a bargain, A great explanation of Shanghai's clean and green aspirations and some fabulous photography of some of the cities icons as well as depiction of everyday life.

Despite sounding like somewhere Alan Partridge would take someone on a first date this place is actually pretty interesting. Inside is a scale model of Shanghai, which as you can imagine is pretty impressive. It lights up as it goes through a speeded up day an night cycle. If you live locally you can probably find your building as well. Please avoid the temptation to dress up as Godzilla and run amok.

A huge model of Shanghai but it feels a bit old and kind of boring to me. I actually enjoyed the pictures of old Shanghai much more, seeing what Shanghai looked like in the different stages of the citys development. If you visit Shanghai it‘s still worth a visit, very central and easy to access.

Awsome, one of the best attraction in Shanghai.Wonderfull museum of Shanghai from small fishing village to modern, big, fast-growing metropolis. Floors show present and future (planning) are the most interesting. Very huge, detailed toytown. Absolutely inspiring place shows what people can design and build. Need about 2.30 h.

An affordable visit to an interesting place which really covers how Shanghai is an ever-developing place. There is a lot to see which can be overwhelming and takes time and patience to go over everything. Interactive tasks were fun, all in all, SUPEH was good but not so great that I would recommend.

History buff should certainly visit thos museum. It includes the lengthy convoluted past, modern-day present and the future prospect of livable city. The geological and tranposrtation aspects are included as well. The highlight is the 2-D city map which shows how large the city has become.

Entry fee is reasonable and lots of exhibits. Quite a nice place to learn about shanghai's history. Has five floors and a cafe. If you have spare time in shanghai it's worth a look although not really on the tourist trail

This exhibition center gives you a broad view of Shanghai. There is city miniature on the 2nd level which the real city buildings and skyscrapers based on. There are also historical miniature like old train and market.

Cool little museum, worth an hour or two. There's a couple nice exhibits on the city's history and future development but the model of the city is definitely the main attraction here.
