I found this store when I was looking into buying a kitchen knife in Tokyo during my family trip in august 2023..I think I read about it on a forum. I had already purchased a bunka knife in Osaka the week earlier but was staying in the Asakusa area so decided to take a look. There are quite a few stores in the Kappabashi area but most seemed higher end or expensive and somewhat more intimidating. I liked the feel of this store because it was smaller. The selection was probably not as big as the other stores but the owner/manager spoke English well and provided some suggestions for a Nikiri knife that suited my use and budget. I ended up buying a 160mm 3 ply VG5 Tamahagane. It felt good in my hand and more so I enjoyed the whole buying process (no pressure and enjoyable) and conversation with the owner/manager. I had the leave the knife overnight to have them engrave it in the morning for pick up. As a coincidence friends of ours were staying in the Asakusa area at the same time and they were looking to buy some knives. I told them about the store and then ended up buying 2 from him as well. I would recommend this store.

Hele goede selectie messen. Toen de medewerkers doorhadden dat we een serieuze klant waren, werden we prima geholpen. Een personeelslid begreep genoeg Engels. Verder waren ze erg behulpzaam om de informatie te verstrekken hoe je de belasting terug kan krijgen, ook al was dat voor mij niet aan de orde.

We went early morning to Kappabashi with a sole objective - to find a cooking knife for my son. There were a lot of people shopping. And was thankful that Google maps gave good directions. We found a shop that was happy enough to help us in the selection. *Japan

不愛想なんだけど^^;、不快感は無かった程度 そもそも、包丁目的ではなく砥石目的で合羽橋を散策 お店ではもちろん包丁では無く砥石を購入^^; 他のお店と比較して砥石が幅広くあった気がするし、目的の砥石が安かったので思わず。その砥石自体が合羽橋の他の店舗で扱ってなかったと言う点も何かこだわりを感じるかなと勝手に。 話しやすい雰囲気ないけど、気になったら聞いてみるのも良いんじゃないかと、包丁はいろいろあったけど砥石が目的でほとんど見てないので何とも言えませんが、商売は下手そうですけど正直な商売をしている感じはしました。

Great selection of knives, staff spent a long time helping us select two beautiful knives. One spoke just enough English to communicate the difference between the material and techniques used. They also engraved our names in Kanji for free.

Une très belle collection de couteaux pour toutes les utilisations, pour tous les goûts et à des prix très variés. Je recommande vivement les magasins de cette petite rue si vous souhaitez repartir avec couteau japonais.

Excellent service, staff spoke enough English to communicate differences between different grades of steel and types of handles. They engraved the knife at no charge, very large selection of knives.

Know what you want before coming down here! The amount of knives is staggering! Knowing the differences in steel is helpful to narrow down your choices but the stores around here have everything!

前年在此店買了三把廚刀，柳刃'出刃'三德包丁，選好之後交給店員結帳，其中有一店員說要拿新品給我，沒有讓我檢查就自行打包，等我帶回家打開一看，其中的柳刃刀尖居然斷了一小截，被那店員調包了！ 沒想到日本商人也會玩陰的，號稱最有歷史的包丁店竟然不顧信譽欺騙客戶，大概以為是觀光客好欺侮吧？!那把柳刃我原封不動放在櫥櫃裡，紀念這家不誠信的商家!!從此，我對日本人再也不那麼信任了！

Had a great experience here, they were very patient. One staff member spoke good English and was happy to explain more about the knives. Free engraving was a bonus too.

土曜日に、夫婦で合羽橋に買い物に行きました。自分は単なる運転手兼荷物持ちなので、何を見ても良くわからないのですが、目の前に包丁専門店がある‼️と、ビックリして眺めていました。今回は他の買い物でいっぱいになり、時間切れで入店出来なかったので次の機会には是非拝見したいですね。
