This is a very corrupt institution run by paranoid psychopaths. They don't pay taxes on the salaries. They tried to kill me by poisoning me after sending multiple spies after me for no specific reason and destroyed my reputation with lies. They also put a teacher in jail after incriminating him with lies. They spy on their teachers inside the apartments and enter whenever they want. They have cameras everywhere and use them to spy on the private life of their lecturers. There are also cameras and microphones inside the apartments that they use to spy on people's private life. The dorms are often robbed at night by people working for them. They also use students as honey-traps to incriminate foreigners. They often send students to ask incriminating questions to foreigners and record them with hidden microphones. They are psychopathic and very dangerous schizophrenics! Furthermore, many of their American teachers have serious mental problems but they don't even know how to select them. They just bring any crazy lunatic to teach their students. Only the very stupid can't see these things. I recommend anyone to stay away from this institution and not work for them, study here or have any connection with them.

I studied Mandarin at the Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages in 1990-1991, and it was quite an experience. Beautiful place, in the middle of the nature. Bayun Shan was very beautiful, very quiet at that time. The teachers were great, very attentive. We were only 6 foreign students for the whole university that year: 2 Americans, 2 Japanese, and 2 French... The atmosphere was relaxed and studious, and the Cantonese food is just fabulous... Of course, I guess the place has changed a lot! J'ai étudié le Mandarin à l'Institut des Langues Etrangères de Guangzhou en 1990-1991, et c'était une sacré expérience. Magnifique endroit, au milieu de la nature. Bayun Shan était très beau, très calme à l'époque. Les professeurs étaient supers, très à l'écoute. Nous étions seulement 6 étudiants étrangers pour toute l'université cette année-là : 2 américains, 2 japonais, et 2 françaises... L'atmosphère était détendue et studieuse, et la nourriture Cantonaise est juste fabuleuse... Bien sûr, j'imagine que l'endroit a beaucoup changé !

The Year was 1999-2000, I studied "basic" Chinese Mandarin language here. This place had been renovated into a totally different from the time I was there. Still, it has so many trees on the main entrance and all the way through the university. Very "green" and peaceful place to study and make friends with the locals, as well as with other foreign students from overseas.

I worked as a lecturer in the English Preparatory Department from February 1983 to February 1984. It was my first working experience in Asia. Good memories!
