2. Naik bus 41, 44, 56, 87, 104, 120, 144, 166, 167, 178, 301, 326, 342, 714, 720, 733, 734, 770, 809, 824, 831, 864, 932, 933, 956, atau 957 dan turun di Stasiun Longhua.
Maitreya Buddha also known as a disciple of Gautama Buddha has a dedicated temple in Shanghai named Longhua Temple. I took the subway line 3 to the Longcao road Subway station and walked around 15 minutes to reach my destination. I could see the Longhua pagoda at a faraway distance, so I was walking towards the right direction. I was relieved to see not much tourist in this location at this time, the tour groups are just arriving the destination. I bought a RMB 10/- ticket to enter. Maitreya hall, Heavenly king hall, Grand hall of the great sage, 3 Sages hall and Abbots hall are the 5 main halls that are arranged along a central north-south pointing axis known as Sangharama Five-Hall Style. The tour groups are pouring in and the crowd was getting bigger and bigger. The groups with old age people were guided by a tour guide carrying a small microphone & a speaker explaining the history of this temple. The announcements passing through the loudspeakers were cutting through the silence of this serene environment. I have a belief that the main beauty of any temple or monastery is the feeling of nature’s silence. Everywhere I look it was the same kind of architecture and design of the buildings; nothing got me excited to make me stay there longer. Searching for something unseen and different I walked towards the nearby Pagoda. It is 40m high and is one of the 16 remaining Pagodas of Shanghai.
Very nice place where a tourist should come and visit. NEVER MISS THIS PLACE ENTRANCE FEE PER PERSON IS 20RMB. But its worth it... Take note NOT to forgot to bring coins, candy or foods to offer... Well about the coins you need it if you want to take a wish... But you need to shoot it in the hole the higher the hole you shoot the higher the chance that wish will come true as what they have said. There is also a red ribbon that is selling there... you will choose what do you want to achieve.. Either LUCK, WORK, BUSINESS, LOVELIFE, this is 4yuan each. Then you'll tie it in a tree. I suppose to tie a ribbon but all ribbon available are about business... What I need is career work and lovelife.. But its all sold out.. I recommend not to get in hurry when you go there, but instead you have to read what is written (you can also bring water and foods with you incase you get tired touring there...) .I HOPE MY REVIEWS HELP YOU. PLS DON'T FORGET TO CLICK LIKE OR HELPFUL.you can also contact me for more details you want about the place ... THANK YOU
In a pleasant park in the southwest area of Shanghai, the splendid Longhua Temple remains one of the oldest religious sites in China. Built along with the nearby 40-meter-tall wood and brick pagoda around 242 AD, this important place of worship was destroyed and rebuilt many times through the centuries, with the present structure dating back to the 10th century. The site is still used for regular Buddhist ceremonies and consists of five large halls, including the Maitreya Hall (Mile Dian) with its large Buddha statue, the Heavenly King Hall (Tian Wang Dian) dedicated to the Four Heavenly Kings, and the Grand Hall of the Great Sage (Daxiong Baodian) with its fine statues and a 16th-century bell. Other highlights include the Bell Tower with an even older, two-meter-tall, five-ton bell from 1382 that is still used on special occasions; the Library with its old manuscripts and ceremonial instruments; and the impressive sight of some 500 gold-painted Luohan Buddhas.

I came here for the food but not the god, so sorry for being foodie... The canteen is located behind of the temple, they are selling various packaged foods such as bean curd duck, dry noodles, traditional cookies, etc. The canteen is selling very cheap yet delicious vegetarian foods, the most popular among all is the luo Han noodles. It's just rmb15 for the luo han noodles, and you can ask for more noodles with no additional charges, however they provide this for those need help, if you can pay please do. They close at 3.30pm. Do clean up the tables after eating to ease their works. I will definitely come back, for the food.
We enjoyed a brief visit to the Temple area. It was very busy during a weekend before Spring Festival, which made it more fun to be there and speak with people. There are several buildings and places were many people were praying or offering respects. In addition to the Temple and buildings there is a small grocery/food store there and a couple of places to shop for buddhist jewelry (beaded bracelets, necklaces, figurines, etc.
One of the very interesting places to experience the Chinese New Year and 春节 is the Longhua Temple in South Shanghai. The temple provides very unique cultural experience during this important holiday - take a look at the photos. Plan to visit if at all possible in the eve of Chinese New Year and on the first day of the New Year…
It is the largest, most authentic and complete ancient temple complex in the city of Shanghai. The Longhua Temple is located on the Longhua area of Shanghai (named after the temple). Its street address is No. 2853 Longhua Road (Longhua Lu). It is open to the public for a fee (10 RMB) which includes incense
Very beautiful temple with huge statues. Very soothing and calming environment. For both locals and foreign people the ticket is 10rmb. You will get a set of free sandal sticks at the entrance. But on Chinese new year days it's very crowded and even the ticket is in higher price of 100rmb.
Ottimo...
Inside there are few temples and also a very good vegeterian restaurant. The noodles soup is excellent. There is also a nice shop you can buy traditional chinese foods. The temples inside are marvellous.
Temple with a lot of Chinese design elements. It's one of the most culturally Chinese looking Buddhist temples. Walk around the tower and say something 7 times to apply a karma multiplier on yourself.
This temple is the most one worth visiting in Shanghai... I attended a prayer ceremony conducted by the monks and it was a great experience .. It is a 10 minute walk from the metro station
Not as crowded compared with other Buddhist temples in town, authentic buildings and maybe one of the few pagodas in the area. The vegetarian dishes offered on site are delicious!
Absolutely worth a visit. A set of prayer houses. Praying people, monks and tourists blend together nicely, since it is busy but not crowded.
I loved this place but was a bit uncomfortable because people were there for spirituality. I was just a tourist. A must see when in Shanghai.
Best temple downtown if you want to feel the spirit of people who actually Workship. It is now pretty easy to go to with line 12.…... 详情
Everyone is welcome to enter the temple and take pictures. Very quiet. Monks living quarters are off limits, of course.
Bigger, less crowded , more ancient, cheaper and beautiful than jingan temple . 100% worth to visit !
above all, It's a place for worship. If it's that what are you looking for, that's the place

This is a beautiful temple and well worth a visit.
Short walk from the metro and worth the trip.
