I worked with 9th and 9th for two months designing a ring for my future wife. They were very patient with me and let me make every change needed to get the perfect design of the ring. Joe was very helpful and always took the time to explain the fabrication process and answer all/many questions I had. Also they had the best prices in the salt lake area. When i first decided i wanted to design a ring i contacted every jeweler i could via e-mail. I received a quick response and the best price quote (which didn't have any hidden costs) Once i approved the design it was complete in 2 weeks as promised. When it came down to proposal time Joe was super great. Here's the second part of the story. My fiance had been upset i had not gotten her a ring yet (she didn't know i was designing it) I told her that during the upcoming weekend her and i would go browse the local jewelers and i'd let her pick one out. I told Joe when we would be coming in and told him to act like he didn't know me to surprise her. He said he'd try and make sure I'd have the place to myself and when we got there he finished up with his current costumer and gave us his attention. Joe acted the part like he didn't know me, was helpful in letting us look at rings and he and i talked about his custom work while my fiance was looking at catalogs. I asked him to show me some of his work (he handed me the ring in a nice box saying "one of my clients just finished this piece") I proposed to my fiance on the spot, after her confusion and Joe confirming that i was the client who designed the ring she said yes. Joe made the design, fabrication, purchasing, and engagement a great experience. He spent the time showing all the work that had gone into the ring to my fiance and sized it for her on the spot.

I had acquired a loose diamond stone and platinum setting from sources on the internet. I went to several jewelers in the valley to have them re-set the stone. Most locations wanted to either sell me a different setting, said they didn't work with platinum, or charged outrageous fees to set the stone. For example, Shane Company wanted in excess of $3/hundredth carat weight to set the stone (which would have been almost $400)- they stated "we take a great deal of risk holding outside diamonds, and thus, must charge these fees to lower our risk for litigation". Joe at 9th and 9th, on the other hand, said he would do it for a fraction of the price ($80). He performed the work during a very busy time (week before Christmas), and offered for me to pick up the ring at his house if I couldn't get out of work prior to closing. Joe takes a great deal of pride in his work, and is not in the business to rip people off. He was never pushy to sell me something different, but said if my fiance didn't like the setting, he could utilize the platinum for a new setting that she could design. He even said he would credit the work already done toward a new setting! He also offered to loan me a generic setting for my proposal for no cost. Joe implicitly trusts his customers. After reading other reviews, it's obvious that his customers trust him equally in return. In this day and age, it's rare to see a "small fish" succeed in the wake of sharks. I sincerely hope that Joe stays afloat. I would strongly urge folks to support this small, local business with an owner who takes tremendous pride in his work and offers fair pricing.

I was just a regular dude ready to propose, with absolutely no idea of what I was doing, let alone any knowledge about rings. I worried that I'd be fresh meat to any salesman I went to, and was not feeling like being bent over and taken advantage of. I did my homework and found a lot of positive feedback about Joe. Forcing my soon-to-be fiancee's best friend to come with me for moral support, I was relieved to walk in to the little shop with Joe sitting there, wearing his flip flops and listening to relaxing tunes. Over the course of several trips, Joe helped guide this oblivious guy through all his questions and concerns. He emailed me a bunch of helpful links in the beginning, helping me to understand what I should be looking for in a ring, such as clarity and color. I also got to learn about the qualities of different metals and their characteristics. I never felt like I was being led to spend more than my budget (which I did anyways as most of us do, but that part is self inflicted). Instead, he wanted to help me find the best value for my budget. He's great with communicating, as I could email or text him with little wait for responses. Best of all, he was just an all around cool dude. I enjoyed chatting with him about his adventures or my school pursuits every time i went in. I loved my experience here, and would recommend it to everyone!

For a younger couple who had no idea what we were doing or what the process was of selecting a wedding ring, we felt foolish and a little embarrassed asking so many questions; yet, Joe walked us through every step of the process and took the time to listen to what our dream wedding ring looked like. Furthermore, he sat us down and explained all the different wedding band styles, materials, diamond shapes, sizes, colors, as well as alternatives such as lab-grown diamonds etc. He even told us what our most cost-efficient option would be, and worked to make it within our price-range without ever trying to sell us on a specific idea or diamond, but rather catered to our needs. I truly appreciate all the help and guidance Joe provided to us, and I have no desire to go to any other jeweler because of the individualized attention and customer service Joe gave us. I highly recommend Joe for all of your jewelry needs, but even more so to speak with him and get a better understanding of what exactly you're looking for. Had a deposit on an engagement ring at a big chain store in town, but still wanted to see what other options were out there. Stumbled on 9th & 9th and Joe “The Jeweler” thanks to google reviews. After an hour of describing what I was really looking for, he had a custom design in CAD for me to view the next day. Once I saw the possibilities Joe could provide, and actually able to stay under my budget, I cancelled my deposit and worked with Joe. After a couple of iterations of design changes (me being very picky), we finally had a final design. Then I asked Joe for a huge favor.... I needed the ring completed in less time than a normal custom engagement ring can be completed, and then over-nighted across the country. Joe did everything possible and made it happen. If it wasn't for him the engagement proposal wouldn't have happened how I wanted it to. Joe was great to do business with, and we'll be working with Joe again, very soon, on our wedding bands! I designed an engagement ring, emailed my design to Joe (owner), Joe worked with me to revise the design until it was perfect. After we got the design down, which presented some unique challenges both in casting and finishing, Joe ordered a wax model and had the ring cast. Unfortunately, the initial casting had several flaws so, even after Joe spent hours trying to correct the problems, he insisted that the ring be re-cast by another vendor, at no cost to me. A few weeks later, I had a perfect and completely unique ring. My fiance and I stare at it all the time, just admiring Joe's work. If you have ANY inclination to design a custom ring, even if you're intimidated by the thought of it, just go to 9th and 9th. The process is worth it and Joe is honest, fair, patient, and does everything he can to give you the ring YOU want, even if it involves some challenges and risk on his part. If you want something special, don't buy from Tiffany, have Joe make it for you.

Amazing service, affordable prices, and beautiful jewelry! I recently bought an engagement ring from Joe at 9th and 9th Jewelers, and it was a terrific experience. When shopping around, I decided on a whim to visit him even though I assumed it was going to be more expensive compared to large chain stores. This was not the case. In fact, after meeting with him for the first time, I felt confident enough in his price and his service to not even bother trying to find another jeweler. I met with Joe several times, he ordered multiple batches of diamonds for me to inspect, and in the end he created a beautiful custom engagement ring for a price similar to online wholesalers. Throughout the process, Joe was attentive and informative, and not pushy. He even talked me out of some more expensive diamonds/metals that weren't good deals compared the ones we ended up using. All in all, don't bother going anywhere else, you won't find a better price or better service!

Working with Joe was a fantastic experience. Getting married is a confusing new journey for me since I wasn't into that whole love thing before, but Joe made the entire engagement ring process easy. He was great to work with as he made the selection, design, and buying of the ring pain free and comfortable. Not only that, he did a great job at perfecting the vision my fiance and I had for her engagement ring and wedding band. The engagement ring was custom made, with a ruby and diamonds. Both turned out beautifully and I am super pleased to recommend him to anyone looking for a fair, friendly, and local jeweler. Not only was Joe great to work with, but his business is a local family family enterprise (so it feels good supporting it, too). He primarily does engagement rings and wedding bands. I do not believe he does much of anything else, such as jewelry repairs (unless you buy it from him). If you are looking to buy jewelry though, this is your guy.

Joe was a dream to work with as first time ring buyers. I had a vague idea of what I knew that I wanted, and my (now) fiance was kind enough to humor me in hunting down the perfect jewelry store. Joe met with us several times to flush out the ideas completely, and I learned more about diamonds and metals that I ever would have from a big box store. He sent us a ton of information so that we could make informed decisions about the ring. He took us through the process from start to finish, all the way offering his professional opinion, and helping us keep within our set budget. After all of our picks were made, I stepped out and he and my fiance plotted through the rest of the process. Afterward, he appraised the ring for insurance purposes, and we will definitely go back for cleanings and upgrades in the future. If you want the personal touch with a truly exceptional jeweler, there is nowhere else you should look than 9th and 9th Jewelers.

I cannot recommend "Joe The Jeweler" enough, especially to anyone in the SLC / UT area looking for something custom. His level of service and quality of craftsmanship were incredible, far better than anything I'd experienced when checking out online options & other stores. He made time to meet with me on multiple occasions - to answer my endless questions, let me sample as many stones as I wanted, and he even went out of his way to personally & discreetly hand-deliver the finished ring to me (to avoid ruining "the surprise")! Not only that, but Joe is just a genuinely good guy - family man, down-to-earth, very transparent (not "salesman-y", which is rare in the jewelry business) and an all around pleasure to work with. The wife & I no longer even live in UT, but still plan to make regular trips back there for the rest of our lives when we need to get our "mountain fix" and/or any work to her ring done!

Not impressed. Because of all the good reviews of the store, I took my engagement ring in to be fixed. He told me it was a 1 day fix and that he'd start on it the next week. I called at the end of that week and he pushed it back another week. It took him 3 weeks to get a simple 1 day repair done. When I came to pick up my ring, there were several diamonds missing. He took another several days to replace the missing diamonds. Finally, I came back for it and it was still missing a large diamond but I didn't want to deal with him anymore. I'll be taking my ring elsewhere to get fixed properly. It looks like this is a great place to design/buy a ring but I won't be bringing any jewelry back for repairs. His attention to detail is pathetic for a jeweler. He did do it for a good price but I'd rather have quality and speed than missing diamonds and a good price.

Joe was amazingly helpful with my fiance's engagement ring. I walked in without much of a plan, and he was quickly able to help me weigh the options. As a guy, the interaction was much easier given that Joe wasn't wearing a suit. As an engineer, it was even more comfortable seeing him wear his apron, rocking dirty hands and working his shop tools right in front of me. It was easy to see that he is a genuine person, and I never had any worries about him trying to up-sell or swindle me. The ring turned out great. Joe helped Ellen pick out a sapphire from his Montana vendor who was in town. Then she found a Tiffany ring that she really liked (and I could definitely NOT afford) and we sent the design over to Joe. He matched the band design and had the ring finished within 10 days, and it cost about 10-20% of the price tag of the Tiffany ring.

Very disrespectful and unprofessional when I called over the phone to set up an appointment. I had called at 7:40 AM to see if they adjust watch bands. The owner answered angrily as it was too early in the morning after I verified it was the jewelry’s store number. He was angry that I had called so early, when on Google Maps it shows that they were open. Taking my business elsewhere, where courtesy exists. EDIT: After I left this review I was then called about 8 times (and counting.) I answered and they were rude and demeaning. Asking me to take down this review but also insulting me that I’m in my 20s and defending themselves on why it’s ok for them to yell at a potential customer when asking if a service was available. I’ve never been more disgusted in my life. I had to block their number for harrasment.

My first wedding ring I lost. I still hate thinking about it. My husband had given me an 1880's vintage Victorian Bellrose ring. When I had lost it I knew there was no chance we'd ever find another like it. Little did I know my husband went and met with Joe. I know little about the process of actually recreating my ring with little tweeks here and there to make it mine, but I can say it turned out AMAZING! He found us the most beautiful diamond to go in the rose gold ring that was recreated. Yes I miss my old ring, but this new one definitely lessens the sting of it. I didn’t have an appointment - just walked in on a nice fall day in hopes of starting the process of getting a necklace repaired. The level of condescension is hard to describe, honestly. I had a simple repair that I was inquiring about and it was quite clear that that sort of business was not only an insult but not welcomed. Haven’t been treated that way in a while and I wouldn’t return with business due to that treatment. Reading through the positive reviews, there is really no doubt this person is a wonderful jeweler. I will say, though, that that doesn’t matter. The way you treat people matters. And, small business often leads to big business, so questioning business acumen as well.

Joe is great at what he does - making amazing custom jewelry - and is also just a terrific guy to work with. I first worked with Joe to design and create an engagement ring while living on the road with my wife-to-be. Fully remote, Joe was super communicative and helpful, sending me tons of design iterations in CAD files to review and critique. I learned a ton from him about the process, and he was always so happy to talk through everything. He even sent me a 3D printed prototype to look at before buying the real thing. My wife absolutely loves her ring and it’s all thanks to Joe! He even did some maintenance on it for free recently. Great experience working with Joe, highly recommend!

Joe is the most approachable jeweler I've encountered. When designing my wife's wedding ring, I visited at least 10 different jewelers looking for someone who was willing and able to show me options of what could be done. Joe cares about his clients and treats them like friends. At one point, my wife got her ring caught on something and actually broke a part of the band. Thought it was trashed, but Joe and his network of jewelers were able to literally make the ring like new again, and didn't charge a dime. Best damn service you could ask for. Wife had my ring made by Joe too and it turned out awesome. Will definitely trust 9th&9th jewelers again with future purchases.

Where do I begin... me and my Fiance checked out a couple stores before walking into Joes' as a last minute "lets just check this place out real quick" kind of stop - and my god am I glad we did! Right off the bat, upon walking in we were greeted warmly by Joe and I felt like it's as if we were friends in a past life. My fiance and I ended up staying much longer than expected but that's because we were just chilling and talking to Joe because he was just so damn cool and informative! I went in to support a local business and have a ring made and my family rings fitted to my wife and I. My mom came to ask questions and help me decide what I want, I requested a resizing for my wife’s ring. Before we agreed on anything he had pounded my wife’s ring with his hammer, erasing the pattern and hurting the integrity of the ring. The unprofessional way joe handled my family rings and his attitude to my moms questions really spoke numbers. Once we left he sent me a bill for a resizing along with shaming me for hurting a local business. I would not trust this man to touch another ring again

We're very glad to recommend Joe and the 9th & 9th Jewelers. We've had a lovely experience and Joe was so helpful, even though we weren't spending an arm and a leg on a super-fancy custom piece. He helped us to find something we like and his approach and business practices should be the talk of the trade. I've shopped at the diamond district in Boston, at big box stores, at other smaller, family-run stores, and 9th & 9th is where we landed - comfortably. We recommend this store. We take our rings to Joe regularly to get them cleaned for free, since we bought them there, and we appreciate him!

Wouldn’t spend a dime here after how I was treating at the street festival event. Walked in to check it out, had a sign in my hand that a street vendor gave me and the man behind the counter immediately started berating me for it. Said his wife didn’t like them and it was very political (it was a Protect Wild Utah sign). I’m open to conversations, I’m open to being educated. But not by an aggressive man drinking a Nat Lite acting like he wanted a fight. As a place that likes to bring up that they are a small business all the time, I would think they would treat their neighbors better.

I seldom write reviews, and only do so when I feel strongly one way or another about the business. In this case, I've had nothing but great experiences with 9th and 9th Jewelers and the owner Joe. He helped design and create an amazing engagement ring for my wife, and was patient, understanding, and delivered a high quality product on time for a very fair price. Not only did the ring turn out amazing, but he has stood by his work (not that anything has gone awry or needed attnetion/repairs) and has checked in on the condition and cleanliness of the ring throughout the past years.

Joe at 9th & 9th Jewelers made my fiance the perfect ring. I had a family diamond that I wanted to put in a special three stone setting. Joe worked with me on the design and found exactly what I was looking for. He was conscious of my price and found the right metal and side diamonds to really make my family diamond look amazing. He also was also on time with delivering me the final product before I needed the engagement ring. Was professional and once I had given the ring to my fiance, re-sized the ring within minutes when we both returned to the store.

Our experience working with Joe was awesome! Not only did he resize my engagement ring last month for a great price and quick too, but he also got our wedding bands as a (super) last minute request while being super helpful, understanding, and overall a super great person to get our rings that we'll have for a lifetime. Joe was also quick to respond to phone calls, especially emails and made our ring experience personal and memorable. My ring is absolutely perfect! Joe did a great job working with us and was very fast. Every time I made a change to my ring, I had a new computer rendering within two business days. The first jeweler we met with took two weeks to get back to me even after several phone calls. Joe may not have a Tiffany-style showroom but he definitely knows how to make jewelry. He was able to find a specific gem we were looking for (white sapphire) and put together exactly my dream ring. He will be making my fiance's ring for sure!!!!! I highly recommend him!

Joe at 9th and 9th jewelers was great to work with. I've been married for 16 years and wanted to get my wife a new engagement ring. I wanted a custom ring and happened to find him online. I checked all over salt lake city for someone that would do the work at a reasonable cost. He was easy to work with, patient and did his best to get everything done on time. The wedding ring came out great and was better than I expected. I recommend that anyone looking for an engagement ring and especially anything that requires custom work call Joe.

Every positive thing that you've read in these reviews is 100% true. My (now) wife wanted an unusual and rare shape of diamond, and Joe was the only one who could actually get it for us. We tried working with J. Brooks, contacted and visited many other jewelers, but 9th and 9th was the most affordable, the most upfront, real and genuine choice. Joe is not a salesman that you will find at every other jewler. He understand what a special time on life it is and doesn't make that experience about money, he makes it about your bride.

If I could give 6 stars, I would!! We had such a great experience with Joe at 9th & 9th jewelers, and I absolutely LOVE my ring!! Seriously though, chatting with Joe and getting to know him and how much he loves his craft is half the fun! Joe worked with my husband and I to find a phenomenal price for a beautiful lab-grown diamond, and then customized the ring and wedding band to look even better than we could have even imagined, complete with personal touches unique to us. I had a great experience with this jeweler. He's friendly, listens to and is receptive of concerns, and treats your jewelry with respect. I had my grandfather's wedding band from 1963 resized for my wedding and was nervous about damaging it, and this jeweler was very knowledgable and patient with addressing my concerns. He was very friendly to talk to during the process of resizing, which he was able to do on the spot. Overall a great guy to work with, I'll be coming back to him for any future ring services. Highly recommend.

I got a unique diamond ring from my mom and dad as a birthday present 7 years ago and I wear it every day. After all this time one of the small diamonds fell out. Joe was an absolute dream to work with!! We researched and met with multiple jewelers (other local jewelers and big box stores) and we are SO happy we went with Joe. He was quick to respond, walked us through the whole process, never rushed us, and was SO quick to finish the ring. He works with CAD drawings so you can see a digital version of what your ring will look like and do as many changes as needed, and he can have a 3D wax printed for you to try on before you commit to your design. The CAD drawings he provides really help to envision your ring and make any changes before it's cast. There is a HUGE difference of walking into a true jeweler rather than a retailer. This guy does all of the work himself, is extremely talented, artistic and genuine. My wife had very specific ideas of the ring she wanted, and he custom designed it for us perfectly. You won’t find another ring like it. He will beat the price and quality of any other jeweler in the city. I highly recommend going to 9th and 9th if you want a great experience!

Great shop. I stopped in looking to get some new ear wires for a few pairs of inexpensive earrings and a chain for a necklace (the kind of minor repairs that aren’t even worth doing for the average jeweler). Joe swapped out the findings with a couple he had laying around on the house, showed me how to swap out the others I have at home, and suggested a place I could go to pick up a new chain on the cheap. Gotta love small businesses.

Joe the Jeweler is the best jeweler you could ever ask for. He helped both my husband and I buy our wedding rings and he's resized mine three times since 2020. He always makes sure we're happy with our rings, he works within your budget, and he cares about the products you walk out the door with. You definitely know you're working with an artisan who is an expert at his craft and wants you to have the best experience possible.

Joe 'The Jeweler' did an incredible job on my wife's custom engagement ring and our wedding bands. We had two family rings that we wanted to use the stones from to create my wife's engagement and wedding band, since the old rings were worn and fragile. I have designed a few rings and had Joe make them for me. I am always impressed by how quickly Joe does things, and yet he always makes them look as if he spent months on them. The rings were incredible, much more beautiful than even I thought they would be. I could not be more pleased with my interactions with Joe! LOVED my experience with Joe. He was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. We really wanted to use an uncut diamond, which are super hard to come by. Joe was absolutely fantastic! I have an heirloom ring that needed repair and Joe took the time to listen to my fears and made me feel comfortable with leaving my ring. Joe took care of us like we were family. His design patterns were excellent and the process allowed us to change what we wanted multiple times and make a ring that was custom to my wife. A+++ Joe made me this custom wedding ring and it tuned out amazing, great price and quick to respond to emails, workmanship was perfect, ring got scratched in Moab utah and as soon as I got home I let Joe know, he said head on over and he opened his shop after hours just to fix it, what an amazing guy. Awesome local spot, good prices, honest and no-pressure jeweler who lives in the neighborhood. When other spots were saying 1-4 weeks turnaround for ring resizing, Joe had us taken care of within half an hour. Highly recommended. Call ahead to see when is best to come in.
