Best fast food joint around for decent quality food. Potatoes taste like real potatoes, onion rings are perfect with just a touch of corn meal on the batter to make it crisp. My go to is the "Beyond Burger" which is juicy and tasty and doesn't make me miss the meat. The Denman outlet promotes minimal waste and composting. Real glass mugs are used that are pre-cooled in the fridge so your drink stays cool. Metal baskets for the french fries and onion rings are utilized with just a piece of paper that is compostable. Very little package waste. I highly recommend A&W if you care about the environment, and the quality of the food that you're eating.

Seriously disappointed - won't be back. I've eaten here often & always raved about the place, good food, clean premises, pleasant staff. Last week I was in twice, both times I was served by a woman who couldn't find a smile & was definitely not counter material. Oh well. Tonight, after a rough day I stopped for take out. I watched the cook take the onion rings out of the fryer, didn't look like many, but it was hard to tell. When I got home & opened the bag I checked - there were 7 rings. Both times last week I had 12, I know because I counted I was so impressed with the servings. So they ripped me off for nearly 1/2 my onion rings, not happy about that. Then I bit into my teenburger - it was ICE COLD. It had not been cooked while I was standing there, it was already made & sitting there before I walked in! I take this to mean the place is on it's way down the hill - you can't treat regular customers like that & expect to keep them. I have no intentions of going back - lots of restaurants in this city.

Little backstory, I had only ever been to American A&W’s(different brand since the 70’s). I wasn’t sure to expect since those ones in the US are mediocre husks of their former selves shoved in with KFC’s. Man, was I absolutely delighted visiting this A&W. Firstly, the burger was extremely well seasoned, only fast food burger that actually tastes seasoned. I ordered the cheddar bacon uncle burger and I recommend it. Next, the root beer is properly in cold mugs and was icy cold. Finally I ordered it with poutine and was surprised with how good it was for being from a fast food place. Everything was fresh and really high quality. Seems to be something US chains could learn from. They don’t seem like they get all that busy, at least at night, and the staff are friendly so I totally recommend it if you’re looking for a quick bite.

Went in today to buy dinner for my daughter and the posted price for two bacon ranch chicken wraps was $4.79. When it was put into the register it said 4.99. I brought it up with the worker and she apologized repeatedly and said the sign was wrong. Then proceeded to charge me the $4.99 price. I’m not sure about what the rules are but it feels like the price posted on the menu should be the price that is charged. Anyway this place is not great for this reason and others, plus there are so many other options (even other a&w) close by that I can’t see myself ever going back here

I don’t go to A&W very often but typically get what is usually a satisfactory experience. At this place however I found staff lackadaisical and inattentive to my order. My 'favourite' was that the staff member used two carafes of the bottom-of-the pot coffee to try and fill a cup for me; and then finished filling it with new stuff after I waited nearly 10 minutes...even though I asked for a new, fresh cup which she agreed to. Yuck.

This evening I was there and after did my order, one of employees said to me you have 10 minutes time for eating and I asked you should tell me before my order not after my order again she said because you need to look the hours of working, I and my friends answered to her if we knew that we will order and why I should know that, I am a customer and employees at this location not treated me well ,I am not happy because I ate my food with stress and I don't like that.

Purchased from here three times today. First time we got the complete wrong order so we ordered again. Was wrong again. Third time we went a few hours later. Once again. Wrong. I spoke to them after the second time and was assured it wouldn’t happen again and was given no refunds. Third time I went back in and told them it was wrong, they threw out the food and gave me new stuff and a complimentary fries. After 110$ spent on wrong food. Do not go here

Ordered a meal with the buddy burger. The burger lacks the size or taste good for adults. Meat has bits of tendon!!? Tasted and smelled bad. Hardly any onions. Fries soaked in oil. Ask for crispy fries and they kindy remade them but still oil laden and soft! They never give a cash receipt or ketchup or napkins on drive thru. Fries are half filled. Stopped buying after years of being a customer once getting rude email responses to complaints.

The service is nice, fast, and reliable. The burger was disappointing though, mostly because of the buns, they were soft. Yam fries were also too soft and not enough crispy. Total 16 CAD for a combo with a soft drink--cheap but, also, you could get a great burger for a loonie more elsewhere.

Disappointment all around. This restaurant sets no bar for expectations. This place is never open on time - you might as well take the hours of operations down since this place goes by it's own operating time. There's never a smile from any of the staff and if you tell them they are missing an item from your order, they huff and puff as if it's the customers fault. Don't waste your time or money on this place.

I give a 5 star rating within the fast food industry, of course there are many better restaurants around. It's a burger joint with excellent burgers using non medicated meats and great veggies etc. The service at this location is tremendous, with very friendly, easy going and happy employees. I go here a couple of times a month and the organic coffee is only 30 cents with a burger and fries. Pretty cool.

We had a very good experience. Me and my wife got the spicy chicken habanero combo pack which tasted great. They even gave us sweet potato fries for no extra cost. We went there at around 10:15 and there was only one more person. No indoor dining allowed at this time, but we got them pretty soon. Please visit this place if you want and the burgers are amazing.

Friendly staff, and NOT COVID Safe! A lady walked in, no mask, waited inside then was served. Not one staff member told here to wear a mask even though a large sign was posted. Read earlier reviews and looks like it is hit and miss for Covid19 protocols here. Very disappointing for a chain that promotes grass fed and other alternatives.

This has to be the best A&W in town! I went in to order a burger and the clerk offered me a coupon for my order! I ended up paying half of what I would have any where else. Have you tried the Beyond Burger? I love burgers, but for health and ethical reasons, I've eaten a total of probably 10 hamburgers in the last 30 years. The Beyond Burger is 100% vegetarian but you CANNOT tell the difference. Simply amazing. I've had more of these in the last month than I've had hamburgers in 30 years.

The ambience was a 3, the service was a 3, the Teen Burger I ordered was a 5, the onion rings were a 5, for an average of 4. The iconic A&W root beer gets its own rating I would give it a 10 star rating but, I can only give it 5 stars and it's worth every star. Made with pure cane sugar, you can taste the difference.

Great location. Can often be busy but worth the wait. The food is fantastic and the employees are great.

I live in the West End and my husband and I just ate here tonight and I would give this a 10 out of 10.The root beer was so cold and creamy tasting, the fries and the onion rings were piping hot and the Teen burgers were perfect The service was really fast and friendly, can't get any better than that!

Check your bag before leaving! Arrived around 10.40pm on a Saturday. Ordered a burger meal, a chicken sandwich and a poutine. They were about to close but took my order and prepared it swiftly. Left the facility before their closing time of 11pm. Arrived home and my pountine was missing. Disappointed.

If possible, I would give 6 stars. To me, this fast food restaurant is one of the best in the city center or downtown, Vancouver. The food is, it seems to me, always fresh and delicious. Very best A&W in the city. I get the very best coffee here nearly every morning. Way better than Tim Horton's or Starbucks coffee. Staff are very friendly and work efficiently. The store is kept clean, including washrooms. Everything you'd expect from your good old Canadian A&W!

I might have made a visit on a wrong day. Despite other good reviews, for me this location is worst A&W experience. It smells like washroom inside, no recognition of customers, flies around and the burger came out falling apart. I won’t be coming back.
