My daughter and I were out and about and came upon this store while out walking. They had a lot of items on sale outside on racks that caught our eye. We went in and were welcomed right away by many of the staff. They were not overwhelming but friendly and helpful which we appreciated. The store is way larger than it appears from the outside. We were super happy with the selections and we loved the area with the marked down items. The staff especially one gentleman was so funny and kept us entertained while shopping. My daughter ended up trying on several items before deciding on two pair of jeweled jeans one pair from the sales area and one from the floor. I bought a bejeweled T-shirt which I love. The prices can be considered expensive on some items but for the uniqueness we were happy to pay the price. We will go back for sure! A very relaxing and welcoming shopping experience. If you want an outfit to stand out in a crowd this is the place to go.

It is a shame to visit a store where employees have no empathy and care with customers coming in with a child. I saw my daughter get humiliated by an employee who stated I would not want that kind of kid just because her 1 year old daughter was crying as she was paying in the register. Mind you my grand daughter was in store calm with no disruption for 45min as my daughter shopped. The employee said it out loud enough for everyone to hear in the store . My daughter got to her car and could not stop crying to be humiliated as a young parent. She is the best mother, taking her daughter everywhere with her, has her own lash business, goes to school and making her dreams come true. Very disappointing we don’t welcome all types of clients, have no empathy, care, respect for customer with children visiting your location. The employee was tall, African American- did not see his name tag. Never will I visit this store.

Here's my very first bad rating/review, ever: Let me start by saying this, the clothing is okay for their expensive retail price, I'm sure I can find similar clothing at a wholesale store in Thailand or even AliExpress. Think of Urban Outfitters' low quality along with their high cost. Additionally, what seemed like all 8 sales associates were watching my friend and I as if our mission was to steal everything including the mannequins. "So, what's up?" asked one of them as if I knew him. Believe me, for the price your store is asking, I'm going to take my sweet time selecting what I might buy. Trust me reader, I have a career, life insurance, health/dental insurance, 401k, ROTH IRA, and property I'll be inheriting both in the USA and abroad. Having that said, I don't desire to steal merchandise to add to my human value. Suggestion: make your customers feel comfortable and welcomed, not criminal-like.

My stylist, Brooke, was absolutely incredible. Her background in fashion was so helpful, and she helped me pick out amazing looks that were so versatile. I work in theater/design, so my wardrobe is eclectic but functional, and she immediately understood this. The entire team was incredible - Paula and Jupiter were two other team members that helped and pulled accessories I never would have thought about. These totally pulled the outfits together! The sale on was also amazing - dresses marked down hundreds of dollars. The store was incredibly clean, beautiful to look at, well organized, and everything was placed to make styles easy to put together. I spent entirely too much, but my closet and my wallet thanks the sale, the team, and the amazing experience provided!!!

#30daychallenge #Chicago Favorite Shopping "The nicest young ladies helped me here!" There's something to be said for providing a big comfy couch to sit on while trying on some kick a$$ boots! Had it been one of those little stools...I probably wouldn't have taken off my boots, pulled my jeans up, pulled my socks up, then tried on a killer pair of boots which I loved!! But alas, it was the beginning of our girls shopping day and I didn't want to lug them around Bucktown all day and (night). Sadly, when I returned, they were closed. BUT, I shall return for purchase. The vibe is friendly warm and inviting. The style is appropriate if you're 15 or 50. Seriously!

Started shopping at the Akira on Diversey in Lincoln Park, where Erik (Mermaid) helped me and pretty much picked out my current wardrobe. He was so good that I had to follow him to the Akira on North Avenue when he was transferred. I love that while I'm shopping and picking out things to try on, he's also running around and picking out fantastic pieces for me. A lot of things he picks out, I'm like EHHH I don't about that... but then I end up trying it on, loving it, and then getting tons of compliments from my friends and colleagues. He pairs things that I normally wouldn't, and I love how it all turns out! Definitely ask for Erik if you're at this location!

I went into the store today to do birthday shopping And the workers rarely helped me. I asked questions about items that I was looking to buy but, every answer they gave me was rushed and not helpful. It was only 3 customers in the store and all the workers were rushing to close and rushing to get everyone out. I was trying on some shorts and needed a second opinion on how they looked and ALL of the workers ON THE FLOOR IN THE FITTING ROOM were brushing me off to focus on one customer like they didn’t care to help me find a good birthday outfit. I felt like an invaluable customer and Akira just lost a Loyal customer. I did not appreciate the service today.

Great Trendy fashionable clothes for everyone. Clothes price range $30 and above. Clothes styles from rock to chic and causal to formal. Especially cute summer dresses! Also offer great sunglasses $18 above and jewelries. They also offer deals such as buy one get one half off and sales online. The best thing, they offer anniversary parties at every locations that includes sales and light food from nearby restaurants and drinks. This location has plenty of fitting rooms and customer service do occasionally go above and beyond to help you out! Akira soon to open in Hyde Park will be the biggest one yet.

This use to be my favorite store & location! I came back for the first time just few years later and the quality of items has decreased significantly, to my unpleasant surprise. I felt like I walked into a Halloween store. The style has changed dramatically. It's very loud, almost.obnoxious. The store looks resembles an overstocked warehouse as oppose to before when it was well organized&you were able to walk through effortlessly. The one factor that remains is the quality of customer service. The employees are always so nice and helpful! Praying for a brighter future for Akira.

Oh Akira..... I think by now with ALL the shopping I have done here I surely should own a percentage of the company. I love that Akira is unique to Chicago and I love supporting local successes. Plus Akira offers such a wide variety of stylish clothes, shoes, and accessories for everyone in every price range, too. And the service is out of this world. They are all about their customers at Akira really trying to get to know all the shoppers and help them with anything they need. I'm sure half my closet is from Akira. And there is always a discount to be had here, too.

Today Bree helped me over the phone. When I called she asked me how my day was, looked up an online item I seen to check the stores inventory, and without asking she took it upon herself to check surrounding locations once she realized they did not have that item in stock. She was so helpful and had such a positive spirit. Usually if you call a store and they don’t have the item they will not help you any further. This was the best customer service I have ever gotten via phone and this is why i’ve been shopping with Akira since 2009 faithfully.

Super helpful staff. I went in with no clue what to buy for a sister. The girl helped me and gave me plenty of options based off of my feedback. The pricing seemed on point. They had a lot of accessories, so you can find fun things to accent your purchase. The only thing I hate is the 14 day return for store credit policy. This policy is even during the holiday, so that makes it difficult to buy here. Otherwise, it's great and has lots of unique clothing options. If you like what's in the windows, you'll like what's in the store.

I love that Akira has become a neighborhood mainstay, but it definitely doesn't cater to my wife or my taste. Clothes tend to skew pretty small and heavily on trend, with an eye more toward the cool than to anything that'll last a while in the wardrobe, let alone be somewhat durable. But if you're just looking for something to shake it on the dance floor and don't care that it might develop holes in the material simply from people staring too hard at one's goodies being shaken, it's the place to be.

If you’re looking for Trendy, night club attire this shop is going to prepare you to rip that runway! The clothing is moderately priced and there is always a sale! The staff is super friendly and in tune to provide you all the options! They are also very honest! I tried on one option and was told, “maybe we should try another option!” I love honesty!!! Check out the pictures to see some of the options! Never mind the model! Lol!

usually have a good experience at akira, but not one employee greeted me, even the girl at the door greeting people. I guess you have to be all dressed up, don't bother wearing yoga pants and plain top here if you want to ask for help. Was just looking for some earrings and a top and every other customer in the store was asked if they needed help, lol not me. thanks for nothing

I came at a good time. Service was top notch. I'm trying to be more environmentally conscious and not shop quite as much, but if I do, the peeps in this store made me want to come back again. One thing that I do like to buy at Akira is work clothes, for nightlife and networking. And they do have some good staple pieces that will last more than one season, fashion-wise.

I am highly disappointed by this store. We can’t get our money back, and when I purchased no one said anything. I just came here to return and they only said “it’s under the receipt. However, if it is only in the receipt, someone should’ve said something before I finished my purchase. I will make sure I make a bad review in every single website now

I came in rushed to find an outfit for a concert after what I ordered online didn’t arrive in time. I was asked if I needed help and boy did they deliver!!!! Tiger picked out so many outfits, nailed my size without even asking and I had so much to choose from. I’m obsessed and he nailed the aesthetic perfectly! I’ll definitely be coming back!

I would never go on vacation without new dresses from Akira. How disappointing. Who is the buyer nowadays? Please reconsider your choices. I'm dying here. More dresses please. Akira has a great mix of stylish fashion forward and fast fashion pieces as well as great core staples. You can literally go from day to night all in one stop. The best part is that the pieces are ageless, there is something for everyone (if you're not relegated to conservative fashion), and at great prices too!!

The people here are so friendly! They give great suggestions and advice. They are always up for some chit chat and will let your pup browse with you. The selection is not as big as the diversely location in my opinion.

Store always has something cute or sexy to find. The staff is helpful and friendly. Parking is a little tough to find but if you can find ot there is paid street parking available around the area.
