When visiting the Jewish Ghetto in Rome, AlefBet should be at the top of everyone's list. Gabriele, the artist behind AlefBet, is truly remarkable and redefines the boundaries of creativity. From the moment we stepped into his workshop, we were warmly welcomed and introduced to a world where art takes on a whole new meaning. Gabriele graciously shared his artistic process with us, taking the time to explain and showcase his impressive collection of artwork. What sets these pieces apart is the incredible depth of thought behind them. They transcend the realm of three-dimensional art as Gabriele skillfully plays with the fourth dimension, utilizing space and time in fascinating ways. Through clever wordplay and exploration of Gematria and the Hebrew language, he creates truly unique collector's pieces. Each moment spent observing these artworks reveals new layers and hidden meanings. Visiting AlefBet is an immersive experience in itself. We were actively encouraged to interact with each piece, and our time with Gabriele extended far beyond simply considering a purchase. Engaging in meaningful conversations and discovering the stories behind the art enriched our visit even further. Without giving away too much, I strongly urge everyone to take the time to explore the pieces fully. Turning them around reveals surprises and delights waiting to be uncovered. AlefBet is undoubtedly a hidden gem, and we couldn't be more delighted with the new addition to our home. Thank you, Gabriele, for sharing your exceptional talent and for creating an unforgettable experience.
Gabriele Levy, the creative genius behind this very beautiful gallery will remind you why it is you travel!!! When we got to the Jewish Quarter, we made sure to visit and it was one of our favorite moments while traveling throughout all of Italy. Not only did he teach us all about his unique style, process and artwork, he radiated so much positivity that it truly inspired us. Perhaps the most profound part of our visit is that Gabriele welcomed us with open arms. He sat down and talked with us for a while...about who we were, what we love, what moves us, overall life things. Its not every day you meet someone like that, a human that is kind and truly cares about all his visitors. Thank you Gabriele. To be treated like family, so far from home is a beautiful gift you gave us! I wish I could leave a million and one positive reviews but for now I will just tell everyone to visit when in Rome. Truly unforgettable!!
While walking in the Jewish Quarter toward the Great Synagogue, we stumbled on this shop, which was closed at the time. By chance, the owner, Gabriele Levy, waiting for a customer during the off hours, was present and greeted us inside. He makes hand-crafted Hebrew letters, not only in three dimensions, but also trying to convey the fourth dimension of time, as well as additional levels of meaning including Kabbalah. He is an enthusiastic artist with lovely creations. Not to be missed by anyone with an interest in the Hebrew letters and their associated meanings, or simply great art!
Assolutamente consigliato
I happened to walk by this gallery on my way to dinner, and struck up a conversation with the brilliant artist. He walked me through his work, which is every letter of the Hebrew alphabet created from different materials, with a little explanation next to it exploring the spiritual and ancient significance of each letter. Really recommend checking it out! Thank you Gabriele!
Gabby is a sweet man with rich knowledge of Jewish and mizrahi culture. He has dedicated his life to upholding the crafts of judaica art to enlighten Italians and locals. His price is right, if you’re kind patron, you Can view his workshop, and truly wants his spirituality and design to be appreciated by the international art world. from nyc
I found this place accidentally and wound up chatting with the artist-owner, who does really great work. He invited us to go down to his studio and then followed us there, where we talked some more and he showed us some nuances of his art. Then we went back upstairs and int the alley and spoke some more. It was fascinating!
We stumbled across this store, with a very friendly and charming owner. He does some really cool Hebrew artwork and is great for explaining it all to you. I would recommend stopping by if you get a chance.
One of the coolest artists I have ever met! His studio was amazing and his artwork was so unique. When we went to his gallery, it was truly an immersive experience, had heaps of fun:)
Owner and creator is very lovely. He took the time to give a tour of his workshop as well as the meaning behind his art work. Bought beautiful rings for our family from here.
We met Gabriel in his beautiful little studio and he took the time to show us his workshop. His unique art form is very creative and fun. Worth checking out !
Gabriele’s studio and workshop were awesome! A really creative individual and his pieces and ideas are all so unique. Would recommend a visit!
