A few years ago I would never want to go to Mackenzie Larnaca to eat. Why? Because it was too touristy with old school tavernas which everything was deep fried or of poor quality. In the past couple of years the area has risen to its potential with a few new places that make it worth traveling from Nicosia to eat. Almar is one of them. Been here 6-7 times since it opened and in my opinion at the moment it’s a really good option if you don’t want the traditional kind of a fish tavern. Salads were really good with fresh greens, dips were also really good. The soup was tasty and well seasoned with nice fish broth and croutons; would have preferred a bit more fish pieces. The only disappointment was the sea bass ceviche which (at least the piece that I ate) wasn’t sliced properly and was too thick and too chewy; the sauce was also a bit overpowering. The salmon carpaccio was ok, not out of this world but ok. The grilled sea bass was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The grilled veggies were also cooked and seasoned well. Fries were proper fries and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The prawns were of good quality and cooked well even though would have preferred a size bigger and wouldn’t mind fewer pieces.The tuna was cooked perfectly and a really good plate all together. The octopus was cooked great and the fava side was amazing. The calamari was cooked superbly and well seasoned. The cuttlefish was also well cooked and fresh. The pasta was my favorite; really good plate, well seasoned, cooked well and a really good portion. I would also recommend a fine tuning on the desserts as they don’t compare to the level of the mains and starters and that’s why we didn’t order any this time. Overall would definitely revisit; excellent service even at peak hours, good menu options, fresh ingredients and reasonable pricing.

My 3 stars give are for: - Location / atmosphere - Service - Drinks / Cocktails My 2 stars missing is for our meal. 1. Overpriced 2. Not well cooked Just to give some details. Visited there with family, and we had a good welcoming from the lady finding us a table to sit. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails and then decided to eat, since we had a good idea based on previous experience there. We have asked for Mussels there weren't any. Then we ordered 3 dishes and 1/2 kg of fish. Out of 3 dishes the 2 weren't good. Talking about Prawns saganaki which was overprices with 4 prawns and far from what a real saganaki is. And baby calamari which wasn't cooked well. Our fish was nice. We ate because we were hungry but for sure we'll not eat there again. Maybe enjoy some drinks and that's all. Going to a local fish tavern enjoy fresh fish and then go there to enjoy a nice drink or coffee is a better plan and cheaper as well! Our service guy asked how our lunch was, and we have expressed our feedback, but nobody came to ask for details.

I ordered assorted oysters today to try the varieties, the waiter explained that there would be three types, two of each. There were different sauces. After I asked him to tell me what the difference was and what type of oysters came with each sauce. the waiter went to check with the cook and then returned saying that today there were no different ones and they were all of the same type. Guys, this was the point of trying different ones and I asked in advance! Attention, he did not say in advance that there were none. It turns out that you are simply lying that you have an assortment and are selling the same oysters, passing them off as others. Next. When they brought the bill, I noticed that the fee for towels is included, 25 euros. they just forgot to remove it. It's good that I checked, I don't always check. This is not nice!!!

The food is good, not much to complain about it and that's the only reason I gave it 2 stars. I went there a few times in fact but today will be my last. I arrived with my wife, 2yr old baby and babysitter, I take 3 free sun chairs and I'm getting ready to order drinks. an overzealous waitress comes by and tells us we cant stay there, apparently the front row is all reserved. No signs at all on the chairs and we already had all the bits/bobs lined up. A supervisor comes along and he's telling me the chairs got booked up "5min" ago and he point out at someone that had no clue about it. Stupid and hilarious altogether, I guess my baby was the issue. I tell him what I think, we pack and take a sunbed at the place beside - Lush. Best decision ever. and yeah, 3 hours later the chairs I wanted were still free. Nicely managed

Reserved for dinner. The staff was very rude. The waiter was very negative and didn't want to help at all. Asked her what wine she recommend and if we could try it before taking a bottle. She told me that I can try it after she opens the bottle. Long story short the wine was super sweet and when trying it (which is normal when opening the bottle) we wanted to change. She was very irritated and didn't accept it and called the manager. The manager came and was super rude. He even threatened us with the next bottle of wine. Very very disrespectful and very bad service. I left the restaurant and changed to zephyros, and can say that its a big different in the service. Don't recommend this restaurant at all.

We had the fixed price fish dinner. The fish were fried to the point they were bone dry. The squid was very rubbery and overdone. The octopus dish was unappetising and the sauce was completely unbalanced, far too sweet. When we complained to the waiting staff we were met with nonchalant shoulder shrugs. Very poor cookery and poor service so at least they match up. The restaurant itself is very stylish but the food and service doenst live up to the backdrop. Very much style over substance. Some tips: Hire a new head chef who knows how to cook fish Get a Gordon Ramsey in to fix your kitchen nightmares Ask waiting staff to smile once in a while

Came here for a family dinner yesterday evening. The service was very poor and very slow. One of our starters was completely forgotten, following that they hadn’t even cleared the table before the mains arrived. One of the mains arrived to the table so late others had already finished their dinner. Further to that when the main finally arrived after having asked for a filleted fish many times when ordering, the fish was presented whole and not even gutted and cleaned. Won’t be returning. Unfortunately ruined a special evening for us as a family.

ΚΑΤΑΠΛΗΚΤΙΚΟ ! Ο χώρος είναι πολύ προσεγμένος με ξύλο, λιτή διακόσμηση και ενυδρείο στο εσωτερικό. Βρίσκεσαι μπροστά από τη θάλασσα και βλέπεις τα αεροπλάνα να προσγειώνονται. Η εξυπηρέτηση απλά άψογη. Πήραμε set menu που στοιχίζει 25€, το οποίο περιλαμβάνει ορεκτικά, κυρίως πιάτα και επιδόρπιο. Η ποσότητα ήταν υπεραρκετή. Η ποιότητα ήταν σε άλλη διάσταση. Το φουρνιστό χταπόδι και τα μύδια με την σάλτσα τους ιδίως ήταν πολύ νόστιμα. Ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση μου έκανε το ψωμί που μας έφεραν το οποίο ήταν τραγανιστό και ζεστό. Πρώτη φορά επίσης δοκίμασα άσπρη ταραμοσαλάτα, η οποία με ενθουσίασε. Οι τιμές γενικά είναι κανονικές για την κατηγορία και τις υπηρεσίες του εστιατορίου. Συστήνεται.

We had a lovely meal here. The staff were amazing and really attentive. Our meal was well presented and served at a relaxed pace. We had a small issue with our cocktails, but this was resolved quickly and professionally by our waiter. This is a high quality venue right on the beach. Highly recommend the crab and prawn parcels and the grilled sea bream was perfectly cooked with a lovely crispy skin and a gentle charcoal flavour.

We are not returning to this restaurant. We went in a group of four people and one of us was celiac (gluten intolerant). The waiters assured us they can accommodate for this allergy, but when the food arrived most of the dishes contained gluten (which they told us they wouldn't have) and they also served gluten-free dishes in the same plate as the ones with gluten. When I tried to discuss this with the manager, he rudely dismissed me and didn't even offer to serve us something different. Not only the service was bad, but it poses a danger to people with allergies.

To begin, the restaurant has a nice calm atmosphere where it is easy to eat and talk without having to shout. The area of Mckenzie beach is a delightful view and a great place to swim in the summer. The waitress was helpful and polite with good timely service. The fresh cream and garlic sauce in the mussels was delicious. The Bread(koulouri) they bring when you order was again delicious. The Squid with the ink inside again so tasty and cooked just right so you don't get the rubber feel. The fries and veg even though you had to order extra were tasty and will visit again.

Absolutely delicious food and the menu is fantastic. Everything tasted fresh and was perfectly seasoned. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. I had the Prawns Saganaki which were divine! It's a bit more expensive than the usual restaurants but you get what you pay for. Beautifully presented dishes made to a high standard. Definitely a special treat to come here!

Not really good service, not friendly personal. Also the waiters are not competent, we asked if they had sweet potatoes on the side, they said yes of course and brought something completely different, the administrator did not apologize, but simply said that they did not have what we asked for and brought what we didn’t asked for.. I wouldn't go back to this place.

We had a very nice dinner… start to finish… with outstanding service! We were worried at first because it was completely empty at 1900 when we arrived…but we were just early. The starters were fabulous- tzatziki, warm humus, and the amazing crab and prawn purse! See the pic of those - we loved them. The prawn risotto was ok, the seared tuna starter had great tuna but had a bit too much sauce with it. The traditional Cypriot dessert of candied fruit with ice cream was a great end to the meal. You will enjoy the experience!

I thought my biggest problem was waiting for a waiter to get my order. He was busy with chatting up girls at the other table and didn’t care I had to wait 15-20 to get his attention to order. But it turned out not to be the worst part - I had food poisoning and spent 3-4 hours next to the toilet returning those calamari and oysters back.

We spend a great day at the Almar restaurant using their sunbeds and dining. We had the grilled octopus on a bed of fava, baby calamari, traditional Greek salad and fresh white tarama. Every dish was cooked to perfection and everything was fresh even the warm bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside We had an excellent service from Adam and Nick which both were very knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. We are definitely returning and I recommend this place.

The place is wonderful, I enjoyed the food very much, baby calamari with fries potatoes. In my party of 4, there was also ordered fish soup, salmon with risotto, and a pork chop with fries and grilled vegetables. The pork chop so big it looked like it came out of the Flintstones. For deserts we ordered cheese cake, ice cream and traditional sweets. All was served by super friendly staff, would highly recommend.

The food is really good a d it's a nice stylish venue on the beech front. The covered dining ingredients area is really nice with lounging sofas etc. The seafood is great and the sea bass I ate there was amazing. You also get the attention of a lot of the local cats which is cute.

Great fish menu with a good variety of high quality dishes. The venue is very modern and positioned directly on the beach, with both inside and outside seating. Food had great presentation and was very tasty. The lemon tart desert was a highlight! Service was good and efficient. Missing a star for me as the service just needed to be a little more personal/less rushed feeling. Highly recommend to visit and I will be back for sure when I’m next in the area.

Poor service, they didn’t even fill our glasses with wine, they choose who to serve, we have asked for mussels and they told us they were not available but they were served immediately to the next table. They even used a dirty towel ( was previously thrown to the floor) to be placed to the wine cooler. Extremely disappointed.

Was recommended this place as I was looking for a restaurant that serves fresh fish. I ordered the Red Snapper - no way it was fresh and I relayed this information to our waiter who smirked. Tuna tartare was good. Octopus that my wife had was edible. Main course was brought out while we were still eating starters. Pathetic. 208 euros. Ludicrous for this substandard sham restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant with excellent service. I came here in the winter so the beach terrace wasn’t open. Even so, the view of the water and the interior design was very peaceful. I had a small issue with the sea bass ceviche and my wine arrived after my food, but both issues were remedied in a very professional and apologetic way. Absolutely loved the bread and olives served with every order. Highly recommend Almar for ambience and service!

Me and my daughter , a grilled kalamari (half the size) with fries and a kid's plate kalamari fried with a salad and a bottle water 58 euros . Not minding to pay for good food but this is totally ridiculous. That also explains the number of tables at lunch time Sunday. This also explains why tourists land in Larnaca and run to the illegal occupied state of Cyprus at the north .

We ate here twice during our stay in Cyprus. We loved the place and food; especially the Crab Purse stole our heart even though everything we tried was delicious. Service is very fast and friendly. Maybe even too fast as on the first time they brought all our food at once even though we asked to pace them after each other (cold dishes, hot dishes, main). Highly recommended, we will come again next time we are on the island! :)

The best seafood place on Mackenzie (I did try them all). Very nice Greek food and service as well. Dips are superb! Even simple cheesecake they serve in a very unique way with amazing strawberry sorbet and pomegranate. Coffee was surprisingly good too. Overall, it would be one of my top recommendations in Larnaca. Do not miss this place!

As spoiled limassolian was looking for a good place to have tasty brunch in Larnaca and Almar Seafood have totally exceeded the expectations. The overall atmosphere is unique, place is clean, music, food was great and also efficient service. The prices are also good (twice as less for the same quality place in Limassol). Totally recommend.

One of our favorites sea food restaurants in Larnaca. The best of them are the fresh fish you can buy per kilo and choose how do you want them to prepare. The staff is also very sympa. In addition is directly in front of the beach and you can choose to stay inside or with your feet directly on the sand.

Venue is beautifully designed and has a lovely relaxed vibe. Food is outstanding! Cyprus coffee and fresh juices excellent. Whether you going for a coffee, brunch, lunch or dinner you will have a fabulous time! We chose the fish from the counter and then added sides. We could have easily shared one side salad and one sided of fried potato. Fantastic views of the sea!

Almar is one of the best fish / seafood restaurant in Cyprus. A huge variety of seafood menu from fresh fish to crabs and oysters. Prices are spot on depending on what you order. Location is also a big plus as it is located in the middle of Makenzi with a seaview nicely decorated inside out.

Was there 03.06.22. Ordered meze. Did not like the taste of food. Can not say it was bad but just tasteless. Maybe better not to order a meze there. Other dishes on the tables looks better. Also had to wait for my desert for too long. Although it was the end of the day, maybe waiters were tired. Beautiful place but cook was better 3 years ago.

We had the fish meze and a couple more dishes, the meze was not what we expected, I would say it was poor for the expectations we had and its price. However, the Octopus we got, as one of the additional main dishes, was tasty.

Fantastic place! Very delicious seafood. We tried prawns, squid. Everything was fresh and so tasty. Michalis is very affable, he recommended us all dishes and we were satisfied. Joanna was polite and friendly. She served very quickly while there were many guests in the bar. You can stay inside or outside it everywhere is a good choise!

One of my best destinations when in Larnaca. Food never fails you as well as the service. My best is the grilled octopus. Bravo Team.

Had such a good time there today, rented a day bed for minimum spending of 80 euros on anything, the food was delicious and drinks were great too, got to lay there and look at the beach all day, great experience! Have to mention the sauce that came with the crab quesadilla that we ordered, some of my fav sauces ever.

Service definitely no team work... designated waiter was busy the other just ignore .. food not the best taste .

We had for starters seabass ceviche and prawns sheftalies! As a main we had mylopoki fish- 1,2 kg- and spanakorizo (was too soggy) for 66 euros. We also had a caipirinha (which was really good) and Pellegrino. Total 103 euros! Good and polite staff! Good experience, nice decor and good ambience!

Very good service. Nice and clean restaurant. We went there fo brunch. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good.

We stayed in Larnaca for one week, and been to this place two times for dinner. Really frendly staff, the food is great and delicious, service is fast. Music is great, all in all nice place to be. Prices are average, maybe more on pricy side, but the quallity is good. ;)

The environment is lovely and everyone is really friendly. Fish is fresh and most of the dishes are tasty. Though, at some point we were waiting for 30 minutes to get dessert and the bill. Probably they were understaffed. Nevertheless, a lovely place to visit.

The food was ok, nothing special, a little on the expensive side for what it was. Service was very slow even though it wasn't busy. My waiter seemed very moody and not particularly interested.

Fresh seafood. Delicious king prawn. Good service. Reasonable price. A little pretentious vibe and pop/club music which I don't particularly enjoy... Good for after sunbathing food and drinks. Street cats can be a bit aggressive when begging for food.

We stopped here for some oysters and tiger pawns both of which were very good . The whole restaurant is well laid out looks bright and fresh , staff were very friendly and attentive. Very nice place to come for lunch as opposite the beach

We only had a cocktail, coffee and a dessert, but everything was perfect. Cocktail was really tasty and good, brownie thingy was also good. The place has a good music and vibes wuth the sea and really good atmosphere.

Absolutely lovely spot in a great location. Just had a beer and an appetiser, which was very tasty. The staff were professional and friendly.

Delicious fresh fish in nicely presented location. One of the best restaurants we have been to in Cyprus and feels like something different and special. Friendly staff and very accommodating with young children.

wonderful institution !!! delicious food, beautiful server, fast food. all fresh fish. if you sit on the veranda, turn on the heater. this restaurant respects human rights! I recommend to everyone

Great assortment of seafood dishes! We had the tuna and halloumi with ries and salad as side dishes. Everything high quality and very tasty! Also good hygiene safety standards for the current situation.

We spent a very geat day here.You can use their sunbeds if you spent min 10EUR during the day,it's a very fair price.Food is awsome,stuff is very kind and the restaurant/beach bar itself is beautiful.

If you like good quality service and food this place is great. French rosé and tuna was perfect. Thanks

Was happily suprised by this place. Excellent food quality. Each dish is prepaired and served as it should be. Very good quality and portions and for the price as well its fantastic!

A truly amazing restaurant. Welcoming staff, excellent service, mouth blasting food, very good prices and of course the one of a kind sea view. Definately a come back spot!

Great and fresh food and friendly service. The food came fast but we waited a long time for the drinks. Prices are okay.

Nice food, but think the portions should bbe slightly larger, dont mind the extra cost, but need to leave feeling full
