After moving to Calgary from Kelowna I needed a new dentist. My grandma has been going here forever and had nothing but amazing things to say. Unfortunately my experience was the exact opposite of amazing. I went in for a teeth cleaning and a routine check up and was told I had a tiny cavity so I agreed to have it filled while I was already there. I had no idea I had this cavity as it never bothered me what so ever. Just a few days after getting this filling the whole left side of my mouth was in an extreme amount of pain so I called and went back and they figured my bite was off which it was so they fixed that. The next day the pain was back to the point I couldn't even eat any solid food. I go back yet again and they figured maybe there was an air bubble in the filling so they remove the filling and re do the filling and assured me there was air bubble in the first filling so more than likely not the issue but I was hoping this would fix the issue. Great, until the pain comes back almost immediatly after the freezing wears off and it is was even worse than before. Then I'm told my tooth is cracked and I need a root canal and a crown which is $1400. I was totally stunned by this and by the fact they would be charging me since my tooth was NOT cracked before, I had zero pain before. Might I add I had to take 3 days off work for these 3 different appointments as I am terrified of the dentist and need to be somewhat sedated in order to even go and now I am still having to take time off work constantly because the pain is so bad I cant even open my mouth. Now I'm at a point where I haven't chewed on the left side of my mouth in months and cannot afford a root canal and a crown at this point since I am constantly taking time off work due to this pain. I paid to have the filling which I wish I would have just left the cavity as it was, it was so minor and it was no bother at all. Very disappointing as my grandma has had such good things to say about this dental office. Do not recommend as they will not take responsibility for any faults and clearly don't care enough to take proper care of their patients.

Nov 16, 2018 UPDATE ---- After some communications between myself of the dental office, they were good enough to refund some of the money. I appreciate they stepped up to correct things for me. Now I can move forward with other treatment. It was really the only remedy to an unfortunate situation. Prior post: Up until a recent root canal I was a big supporter of this office. I have had thousands of dollars of work done due to an accident in 2015. Recently they did a root cancel, (I’ve since discovered was unnecessary), had a new dentist do it, (though well recorded I only wanted my own dentist at all times). She had no idea where the tools were, some pieces dropped on top of me, it was terrifying. I know I should not have let this happen, honestly I am just so prettified in the dentist chair, (which they also knew). Within a few months the filling part fell apart, to where there is nothing left, but a gaping hole. Now I am going to pay to get the whole thing yanked out, (as it was unnecessary to start with). I feel totally ripped off, (around $4,000), and taken advantage of. There was no reason this had to happen to me. I would never recommend this office now.

The doctor and doctor assistant there are amazing. they still work it with my teeth, they are very careful and take good care of it But unfortunately one of the old lady (short hair) at the front desk there is very emotional, bad temper and grumpy, this is the second time to me, she canceled appointment unilaterally and she without asking and checking properly to the doctor, gave wrong information eventually I asked her 3 times. With a temperament like that, it is not very suitable to interact directly with customers or work in this field especially need more details and patience for each customer. I hope the management in this place can pay serious attention to this or a lot people will disappointed because of her. So far until now, I’m very pleased, satisfied and very happy with people, and service in there.. They’re amazing

Our family have been patients of Abougoush Family Dental Care for more than 10 years and are very pleased with the care that we receive. Dr's Madelyn and Joel are wonderful - making sure that annual check-ups and the occasional fillings are done in a friendly, comfortable, professional way. They take the time to listen to any concerns we've had and give expert advice. Our family especially loves to see Mary - a long-time hygienist at this office who is thorough and gentle with cleanings and has a caring and encouraging style. Our kids actually get excited about their check-ups and visits with her!! The reception team is very responsive and helpful. They manage the insurance details without any issues and make us feel welcome with our busy family. I highly recommend this office.

My wife come for some dentistry, she gets there they freeze her mouth for a couple fillings they leave her sitting there for an hour .So she basically goes looking for someone to see what is going, so they come back and have to freeze her mouth again, then they finally proceeded to do something but they did the wrong teeth, did two teeth that were already sealed.......so you leave her exposed for almost 2 hrs(covid, over freezing, wrong teeth ,top shelf service.....and you still want money owed, and you still didn't send are records over to are new dentistry 1 year later shame shame on you

I just started going to this clinic and went in to see Dr. Madeleine Abougoush and she was great to deal with and very sweet. They also were kind enough to make the time to take my bf in for a last minute apt yesterday due to extreme tooth pain which turned out to be an abscess. Dr. Joel Abougoush sent him away with some antibiotics and painkillers and they already have him scheduled for a root canal this Thursday. The administrative staff have also been extremely kind and helpful during this whole ordeal. Highly recommended this place :)

Safe and comfortable experience during a time of Covid. Teeth cleaning was both educational, better tips for cleaning at home, guidance on gum wear and bone loss. Cleaning was performed with great care and attention to detail and I came away with possibly the best feeling clean teeth ever. Zara, my hygienist took time to become familiar with my chart and past history and asked for any concerns that she then focused on during my appointment. Look forward to a return cleaning and checkup.

terrible experiences with dr smith when i was a child. i requested that my mom come with me to the back so i could hold her hand and he told me no, i had just gotten a metal cap on a tooth and it was very painful so i cried and he told me to stop crying and acting like a baby. i have had many other experiences like this with dr smith and am now left with a crippling fear of the dentist. i would not recommend that dental office for anyone.

I've been a customer of the Abougoush Dental Family for the past 20 plus years and can tell you honestly, they are the best in their profession. Even if you are hesitant to go to the dentist, you can be assured that they will be kind and sensitive to your needs. They are constantly looking at improving their business, especially with new and innovative technologies to stay on top. I give them the highest recommendation possible.

From the moment I walked in I felt like part of the family. Friendly greeting, amazing staff that made me feel comfortable from the word go. It was fun! Dr. Waikum and Shelly are so knowledgeable and always up-to-date on the latest and most effective botox and filler techniques. They take the time to discuss the options that will help achieve the goals we are working towards. But beyond that, they are so friendly and kind. They always brighten my day:)

I have been attending this office since I was a child and they are kind and professional. They take great care with what they are doing, and make sure you feel comfortable as well. Recently they fixed my chipped front tooth and it looks awesome! I recommend this office to everyone.

My wife & I were impressed with all the care taken by the office to comply with Covid restrictions, & make it a safe environment. It had been a year since we had our teeth cleaned (due to Covid) & we were very pleased with the excellent job done by Zara.

Billing staff was very friendly, supportive and answered my questions. Mary, my hygienist is gentle and always provides improved cleaning tips. Dr. Joel and his assistant were compassionate and very supportive during and when my procedure was completed.

My "teeth scraper" did an awesome job and was very personable! And of course Madeline was extremely efficient in filling my small cavity, with the help of her assistant. My only complaint is of course the bill at the end, but it was expected!

Highly recommend Dr. Madelyn and her team for all dental and cosmetic needs! Jen was so personable and made me feel very comfortable for the entire visit and I will most definitely be coming back for future treatments.
