I went to the Spintex Branch yesterday after a Taxi driver robbed me at Palace Mall. As my phone contains my online banking app, which allows me to have access to my Barclays accounts, I was worried that I would be stranded in Ghana without money as a foreigner. I decided to go straight to Barclays, as they will have access to my information. Upon arrival, I was told, they don't have international access. Then the lady was kind enough to search and call my branch's contact number in the UK for me. She called them, and gave me the phone, while talking to Barclays about the mugging and if it was possible to have funds transferred to me immediately, as I'm not able come to the UK, ask for a new telephone number to be able to download the app for online banking, I was told by Barclays Ghana, to hang up the call as IT needed the phone, and then later they told me if their credits on the phone finishes it will be a problem. I sensed these people, like everybody else I've met in Ghana, want money from you. Eventually I was forced to hang up the call, and ushered out of the bank with the 15 Cedis I had in my purse. As personal and Business customer of Barclays UK, therefore all Barclays over the world, I'm appalled and shocked by this poor and corrupt behaviour of Barclays Ghana. Your opportunist and corrupt mentality is what's keeping the nation poor, needy and greedy. Even if people want to do good in Ghana, the attitude you show towards foreigners, doesn't make any of us want to stick around and help elevate Ghana out of poverty. Your bank, its workers and your work ethics are a poor excuse for an international recognised financial institution. Thank you for sending a stranded mugged customer away, just because you couldn't make money out of my misery. I hope the people I've dealt with will face the same issues in their lives, and meet the same mindset like yours, including all the generations in your family. May you and your seed always be in search of money and wealth, but may it pass you and go to your enemies instead.i

I am very very disappointed in their service. I am a Ukrainian currently located in Ghana due to the on going war in Ukraine. I used my Ukrainian atm card in one of their machines, and my card got swallowed due to a machine error. When I filed a complaint in their head office , and provided proof that I was the owner of the card, I was kept for over two hours, and told that they are not sure they can solve my problem, knowing very well that I will be stranded in a foreign country without it . The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced , and is causing a direct damage to my livelihood as a foreigner in Ghana .

Rude customer service personnel. Their mobile banking app is faulty. I transferred money from my account to my mobile money account and the money never came but it was deducted from my account. I called customer service and the woman had the nerve to be rude to me. This has happened on two occasions.

Your customer service is very slow. It took you good Three Hours to issue a manual banker's draft. Please upgrade your service. We are in digital world, do not solve digital problem with analog solution. Please kindly improve and upgrade your customers service department. Thank you.

Doing business at ABSA Head office is a breeze. I was very impressed with their adherence to Covid-19 protocols. You have to wash your hands at every entrance and be in your face mask as well. You don't have to queue to long because there are enough tellers at hand.

Being at such a place is very exiting and entertaining. There are lots you'd learn from people if you find your self at such a place but remember to be yourself and put out your best attitude out there. It's a very busy place to be with a tight security as well.
