I’ve shopped here for years. Prices are usually better than everywhere else, the customer service can be lacking. I’m usually fine with this but I felt like I was treated very rudely when I tried to return shoes today. I had worn the shoes a few times. I would have happily walked away without an issue if I was told I couldn’t return them. Instead I was treated with a rude tone that made me feel as if I was trying to lie or trick the store. I was hoping to return the shoes so I could go buy another pair twice the price. They were able to run the return but I did not go back for the more expensive pair. It may seem like I have nothing to complain about because they did run the return, but that also means the return was doable, I just had to be treated like badly during the process.

Called to ask about making a return on a shirt I didn't want without a receipt. Was told specifically I could get cash if I brought my ID and the purchase was validated, I did, and it was, then I was subsequently told I couldn't get cash. When I explained I called and specifically asked about getting cash not a gift card the female manager with pepper grey hair told me I was simply out of luck and drove up for nothing. Did not matter that a team lead of hers told me an incorrect policy. Additionally she tried to put responsibility on me for not getting the name of the associate who gave the incorrect information. I politely explained to her that's not my job to get her employees in trouble but as a manager should make sure all employees know the correct policy

Walked in to get a hunting license. There was only one available register for about 17 people in front of me. I went to customer service and she told me to go back and wait in line. Went to the doorman and told him he needed to open up another register to let the customers through. I felt like I was at the post office. And they wonder why people are going online to get everything. Better customer service online! Had to go to Walmart took me seven minutes to go in and out with my hunting license. By the way, the people at the register and the doorman they were just so clueless about being polite and having manners and trying to take care of their customers. Sorry for the bad grammar it’s by voice.

My debit card, which is currently deactivated due to me not using that account anymore. I asked for a refund they insisted on “putting it on a gift card” remind you I called 3 times and spoke with 3 different people. I go into the store speak with the manager she was NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. She kept giving me the run around and nothing got resolved. I had to call a neighbor to put The refund on there card. This place is ridiculous PLEASE IF YOUR BLACK DO NOT SHOP HERE..

The only person who was nice or smiled was the cashier on the way out. We were there at 1:00pm today spent $310.00 on two pairs of shoes and the employees were so rude except cashier. Store was a mess. We liked the shoes though.

Store is Unsafe. I was there this week and extremely disappointed in my experience. Multiple groups of men were in the store but did not have a buggy or merchandise in their hands. They did however, smell loudly of marijuana and seemed to be stalking me. There were very few employees to ask for help if needed. No security on site that I could tell. I spent much time choosing my items so decided to stand in line for checkout. 30+minutes was the wait time. I’ll not be going back. So sad our world has changed. I used to love shopping here.

Terrible customer service. Many workers but only 2 checkers. Long lines. Of course the line I chose was serviced by a man who appeared not to know his job. Much slower than the other line. And he left his post 2 times for an extended period of times. The lady running the register for pickups came and assisted the customer in front of me but when I went to her for checkout she told me to get back in line. I left w/o a purchase.

Justin the team lead checked us out and he seemed rude and stressed. He was talking to his team members in a rude way and telling them they need to hurry up and go back where they were. He was also asking them questions and being snappy to them without letting them explain what they were doing. If he can’t handle the stress, or manage his team in a nice and professional way, he shouldn’t be a team lead ‍♀️‍♀️

I will be taking my business to Dick’s sporting goods. I bought some fishing bait and realized the container was empty once I pulled up to my fishing spot. Wasted $20 in gas driving to the fishing spot. I called this store 5 times and got hung up every time. So I called customer service, they did nothing. After using academy for my entire life I am switching to Dick’s.

Clearance sell was a joke. With everything, including shorts, often being 60 or 70 bucks starting out, there are no actual deals. Just you, still paying 20 to 35 dollars a pair. I guess if you mark everything super high, it's a "sale" but basically you're paying the full price. Wasted time and gas going to two. Reminds me why I never shop there to begin with.

I have spent over $1000 this week for Xmas. This store has the worst customer service! The Hispanic girl in customer service (upfront) needs immediate retraining! She is rude and condescending. She lacks proper customer service training. I'm a paying customer, not her family, to put up with her mouth. Go to another Academy and avoid this place!

The men's athletic shoe section was lacking. Insufficient versions to choose from and limited even further in size availability for me, size 12 & 13. Now the economy brand, BCG, athletic wear shorts and shirts had some great prices and selections. I found plenty to choose from. The store itself was clean and organized, as usual.

They closed early when their sign and website said 7pm. When we pointed to the sign, they just ripped it off in front of us and laughed. Numerous times, they have had issues processing gift cards. Their online inventory never matches their stores. It screwed me out of a sale price on boots last month. I dislike this academy.

Waited, after 4 calls I had enough, for a firearm walk out from the firearms associate with no response. Could not tell you how long the wait was but it was way to long. Would not recommend getting a firearm here. Wanted to give more stars because Jacob was a Great sales associate at the counter!! He did everything he could!

Academy has a wide selection of sporting goods. Prices are often not the best. Customer support is so so. I ordered an item online to be picked up at my local store, only a few miles away. It was fulfilled and I had to pick up at a store 30 minutes away even though my local store had it in stock.

This is a large, well stocked store. The employees are helpful. Handicapped individuals might think twice. Using an electric Cart was difficult. Even in the main aisles, I was running into stock in the floor and other obstacles every time I turned a corner.

I understand due to staffing and inventory that the shelves are not fully stocked at times. But this store is still congested with clothes racks and displays that makes it hard to find what your looking for. The saving grace for this

I've been to better ones. They may have what you want in gear and they might have what you want in clothing. However, the store is mostly disheveled and messy so be prepared to dig and hunt for the clothing and sizes that you want.
