"I went to Adelaide Exchange last week"
"WARNING!! DANGER!! DO NOT ENTER!! By far the rudest, arrogant and downright disrespectful attitude by the two ladies supposedly supplying customer service in Adelaide Exchange Jewellers, after my experience today I prefer to describe it as it felt"
"0 star if It’s possible"
"NEVER EVER when going into a jeweller do you tell them how much you want for your piece of jewellery"
"I was shocked to see negative review"
I went to Adelaide Exchange last week. I had 2 rings. One actually had a valuation of $12,000. The other i paid $4000.00 for. However I didn't mention this to the owner?. I expect that who she was as there were no other employees. This person took the rings away and advised me that there would be a $10 fee for her to 'value' them. I agreed to this. However when she returned she offered me $700.00 for both rings. I was surprised. This person said. I can only offer you the price of the gold. The stones are basically worthless. There were Tasmanian sapphires a Tasmanian zircon and at least 2 carats of diamonds in the 2 rings. I didn't argue with her on the 'valuation'. Only only said I expect you would put the $12,000 (the larger of the 2 rings) in your windows for $5000.00 at least. She agreed with this comment. I really can't understand how this can be a sound business practice. I have purchased jewellery before from Adelaide Exchange however if this is what occurs I cannot understand how anyone would sell their 'unwanted jewellery' to Adelaide Exchange unless they are desperate to make a few dollars to pay. REPLY. To the owner who posted her review below of my comments. Firstly at no stage did you ask me what prices I was seeking for the rings. Secondly if you remember you told me more than once how much you loved the ring with the sapphires in it. Thirdly this pathetic platform that you regularly call Google review site is there to give other customers a valuation of your business. I doubt if people would place negative comments on it just for the fun of it. It keeps business honest and strive to make better business practices. However you take every comments as a personal attack upon yourself. All businesses have to judged on their quality of service and honesty. Please do not make bogus comments as such I have just reviewed the camera footage and I doubt we would purchase your jewellery. You know that is simply untrue. Thank you for your response. Kind regards
WARNING!! DANGER!! DO NOT ENTER!! By far the rudest, arrogant and downright disrespectful attitude by the two ladies supposedly supplying customer service in Adelaide Exchange Jewellers, after my experience today I prefer to describe it as it felt.......... The 1 and only store I had entered all day with NOT 1 other customer in store, it was a pleasant although odd start to a absolutely terrible and very very unpleasant experience with A.E.J. staff. First thing I noted when entering the store was the overwhelming feeling my presence had interrupted two elderly ladies conversation behind the counter. I smiled and greeted them politely" a sour, bitter unaudible response was slung back in a horrible manner with the body language to match a mix of sarcasm and annoyance rang through there voice while giving off a weird superiority complex. I was instantly filled with doubt and concern as my items were taken and returned far to quickly to be inspected and was told with a belittling laugh each piece's worth - 60cents per item or pretty much worthless! I was in disbelief, literally speechless! My partner, who was waiting for the verdict in another store and had the GIA reports with her for the Jewellery A.E.J staff had just reported worthless! We also had upto $8000 to spend on jewellery which after today's experience will be spent at a respectable Jewellers and never ever Adelaide Exchange Jewellers. By the way, I'll be sourcing the two staff members Gold medals for worst customer service of the year from a lead factory, bit of gold paint sprayed on....they won't know the difference.
0 star if It’s possible. Due to CoVid-19 restrictions for older Tasmanians, me and my mum went to represent and help my 83 year old step father to obtain what he needs to pick up. I have the receipt and ID’s to validate identities. I understand their protocols to validate a claim. However, these two women DO NOT have the RIGHT APPROACH to welcome and ask customer needs. There was certainly lack of guidance and information. I have explained my part to help how to sort out the problem but a woman employee clearly does not know what she was doing. Even worse, we felt being dismissed, unvalued and profiled. One lady was rude and clearly look at us with indifference. We are not thieves and clearly we will follow their protocols but nothing was explained to make it clear. I even recommended to call my step father to validate everything to make up with the absence. All these they should know beforehand. We are of Asian background but we are Tasmanians now for some years now. We may communicate with some difficulty and an accent but I really wish that they were more understanding and accomodating. There were no apologies from their behalf and we walked away with anger and disbelief that there are some people who does this.
NEVER EVER when going into a jeweller do you tell them how much you want for your piece of jewellery. LET THEM TELL YOU HOW MUCH THEY’LL GIVE!! ESPECIALLY here! And then shop around. Get prices from everywhere else. IF THEY ASK “how much are you wanting?” JUST LEAVE. An honest jeweller will tell you the price of gold/silver, without trying to take advantage of your lack of skill in this area. ALWAYS ask their prices for gold/silver first. Even when they insist that they’d “prefer not to”! If they tell you this, leave! straight away! Take your business elsewhere. They tried to take advantage of my mother and was incredibly rude to her. Will never support this business.
I was shocked to see negative review.i have shopped at Adelaide exchange for at least 15 years.haven't been for a couple .mylast experience I wanted a diamond ring.the manager sorry forgotten your name Helen? but I picked one similar to what was her hand.they explained to me clarity the flaw system which went into grading etc .so I bought .I have purchased gold chains bangles etc because they were the only jeweller's to explained copper filled bangles etc.
I was served by Margaret, I had to trade in some inherited jewellery to pay for my dogs extensive vet bills; instead of being looked at as the young girl on the add who wants a tongue piercing (which honestly, given how I dress - I wouldn't blame them if they did) Margaret was so very sympathetic, gave me a decent return on what I took in, and it was just a nice pleasant experience from the rough few weeks I've been having. Thank you guys!!
Had a beaut Christmas/New year in Hobart. Couldn't believe my luck when I came across Adelaide Exchange, one of my favourite shops. Had to go in for a look. Beautiful shop brimming with lots of gorgeous things. I chose a lovely pair of earrings & got a huge 25% off. Well timed sale! Top place to find that great item for a special occasion and every day should be special. I was really pleased with the friendly service too.
MY worst customer experience at the HOBART store .I had worked in retail for 20 years and have seen a lot but the staff at this store were beyond belief. One in particular was condescending, rude, and basically called me a liar to my face not only once but numerous times. I believe this needs investigating and a written apology issued. Please do not try to fob me off with one of your generic emails .This could go further.
Well good to see the MANAGEMENT of this company don't really care about CUSTOMERS. I have made a complaint about my treatment at the HOBART store and because I don't want one of there generic emails as an answer.i asked for one of the MANAGEMENT team to call me on the phone but now they are ignoring me . Well guess what this isn't going to go away . Typical behavior of bullys who can't control everything???
Absolutely terrible company with zero integrity. I’m desperate to get my lost diamond ring back and would happily buy it back had it been purchased by AEJ but unfortunately the rude and dismissive woman there today flatly refused to even look at a picture or entertain the idea that my ring had been purchased by them. Apparently items purchased are quickly shipped off to Adelaide. Spend your money elsewhere.
Very bad service. We got there in the afternoon they weren't far from closing at 4. It wasn't 4 though yet they were shut. WOULD NOT LET US IN THE STORE THEN ALLOWED ANOTHER CUSTOMER BEHIND US IN!!! Just disgusted!!! CUSTOMERS ARE THE LIFE OF YOUR BUSINESS. The two staff turned their backs when we walked passed again. I will sell my gold elsewhere. Hobart store very bad unmotivated staff!
Visited the store yesterday and had an excellent experience from start to finish purchasing some items for investment. I even got to know more about Christianna personally and was also greeted and served by a wonderful lady who loves bushwalking (I didn't get her name unfortunately!). But they were such lovely personable people. Highly recommended and I will be back.
Very rude and condescending. I wanted to get some jewellery valued and tested (a service the website says is offered) but I could barely get a word out. The lady wasn’t interested in helping at all. Edit. Please tell me what it was that I said that was rude. Then I’ll be happy to tell you what was said to me rudely. I would love to see this tape aswell please
Don’t sell your gold here!!!!! The machines they test with is not accurate. Had stamped gold bar from a gold mint and they told me it wasn’t heavy enough and not enough purity. Lost out on $500 dollars. Had all my other bars checked from two other companies and they all said that my bars were fine and that I had been ripped off. Please be aware!
I would give a zero star rating. No interpersonal skills, dismissive and condescending with their approach. They basically offered me nothing and Im glad I went and sort a second assessment and got both the price and respect I felt I deserved. Please be careful and be aware that they have no knowledge of estate Jewellery. A deflating experience.
Nasty people who know how to make people feel horrible about themselves, and sad over past loved ones. Wouldn’t ever go back here. Wouldn’t even give it a star if I could. Sickens me that people can be so cruel. There are much better places than this. Beautiful store, but horrible service. Shame about some of the employees there, plain nasty,
I went in to sell my gold and silver bullion, and I had a great experience! The fine lady I dealt with was very pleasant to deal with, we had a chat about bitcoin/gold investing environment. I have to wonder if the negative reviews are simply people that are bitter because they do not understand the industry and how things are valued etc.
I had a lovely experience in this shop today. The two ladies were very friendly and welcoming. Even though I didn't see anything to my liking, they were more than happy to show me their favourite pieces and have me try them on. I love chatting about jewellery and recommend this shop. They have some great vintage pieces.
Went in today with a heap of old coins and was greeted by 2 lovely ladies!!! Not only did they give excellent service but also answered any questions or queries I had.I was more than happy with the outcome of my visit, the service and friendliness could not be faulted!!! thank you very much …
Absolutely love this store!!! I am a jewellery addict but I only like quality and these guys never disappoint. Such a wonderful range of fine jewellery for everyone’s taste. I always feel welcome and the ladies are so helpful and lovely. Definitely my one stop jewellery shop.
I wandered in with an old charm bracelet and a few broken chains not knowing whether they were real gold or worthless. Came back after Marie spent some time looking at them to value them properly and walked out with $2000! Very fast, efficient and trustworthy.
This has to be one of the most humiliating experiences I have ever had. The two let’s say ‘maturer’ ladies were nothing short of snobbish and dismissive. I won’t EVER set foot in this store again. The two of them are condescending and have no people skills.
What a great place to have in Hobart! Fabulous range of stock. Very very good pricing & friendly helpful staff. Located centrally in the heart of the city. A must visit place when you go to town to see what new pieces they have for sale!
Found the bracelet I have always wanted, at a really great price. I traded in some old gold stuff, and saved even more! Oh, I love their antique jewellery too! I found another piece to save up for......
I have been regularly going to Adelaide exchange Hobart for the past three years. As far as I am concerned they are the best precious metal dealers in Hobart. I trust them and highly recommend them.
Very good experience right from the first phone call to picking up some gold and silver bullion. Natalie was very nice to deal with and went out of her way to help with my purchase.will be back
The biggest range of jewellery in an shop in Australia, and priced really fairly. I traded in some old stuff, and bought something new and lovely, and even had money left over!
I recently made a purchase of a lovely new bracelet. Maree was a wonderful sales person and she took the time to show me the options and I'm very delighted with my purchase!
Experience has always been very good, staff friendly and helpful, nothing a problem and the best value in Hobart. Been there numerous times and will be back in the future.
1yrs living in Tassie from Singapore, my 22crt gold bracelet was hit sent after I fall down. Sold to them and they buy it with hood market price. Recommended this shop
Awesome service from the most pleasant and professional people, a great place to shop for bullion products and I need not look anywhere else
Always great to deal with, the staff at AE have always been very good to myself and my family, highly recommended.
They were absolutely awful to my sister and nearly brought her to tears. Skip this place. Cashies was much nicer.
Completely unhelpful staff when we tried to notify them about stolen jewellery to be on the look out for.
overbearingly and unnecessarily rude customer service, had a really poor experience with this company
Have dealt with this company many times but no more. Arrogant and rude staff women …
Staff and service were excellent. Assisted us in making the right choice. Thankyou
Really impressed with professionalism of their staff and wide range of products.
not very friendly started laughing about the thing i wanted to exchange
Too busy on private calls to serve customers. Disgraceful
