I would not recommend Affordable Plumbing and Sewer, LLC, to anyone. We called several plumbers to get a quote and only one place was available for the next month or two. Since going through what we did with the owner, I now see why they were the only plumbing company available. Absolutely terrible ownership/management and business practices. The owner, Rick Ramsey, has the most condescending, arrogant, unprofessional, and harassing behavior that I have EVER experienced from a company. Please read his negative reviews. They are the same exact story as ours. I wish I would have read them before ever agreeing to them coming out. We called them out to fix a WATER PRESSURE issue with our outside spigot. They showed up, stated they would check the o-ring in the spigot. That was NOT the issue, so they replaced a 6-inch pipe leading from the house to the outside spigot and also replaced the spigot. They said they were done with the job, but we turned on the hose only to find out that the pressure issue was NOT fixed whatsoever. The employees (2) called their boss, Rick Ramsey, to find out what the issue could be. He proceeded to tell his employees to collect $375 from us and then he would come out at a later time and see what was going on since this was a “special issue.” For one, is water pressure a “special issue” for a plumber? That’s like saying an stiff neck is a special issue for a chiropractor. After Rick Ramsey continued to bully his employee to tell me to “pay or else”—I got involved and said I would not be paying $375 for the issue not being fixed—that I would happily pay once the work was completed. He was yelling on the phone, not listening to me speak whatsoever as the customer, speaking over me and his employee. He would constantly hang up on us. All we wanted was for our water pressure to be fixed, which is the ONLY reason we called a plumber. If changing the spigot and pipe would have fixed the water pressure, I would have happily paid. Rick Ramsey then called back (several times) and kept telling his employee to remove the pipe and faucet from my home and leave. Keep in mind, my pipe and faucet (which were just fine before calling this terrible company) were completely destroyed when being replaced, so now I have no spigot, no pipe leading out of the house, and some jerk owner harassing us. The employee (embarrassingly) told us that he had to remove the parts and apologized profusely. He was completely embarrassed by his boss's actions. Rick Ramsey, continued to call his employee several times and continued to harassed us about taking the parts off the home because we wouldn’t pay $375 until he came out and fixed the issue. He then proceeded to call my husband’s phone several times, yelling about how he doesn’t trust any of his customers and has 97K in pending lawsuits because of people not paying (I have yet to find anything from the Courts on that). We even offered to pay half now and the other half after he came out and fixed our water pressure issue. He HUNG UP ON MY HUSBAND 4 different times—even after we stated we no longer wanted to work with him, but he kept calling. After the 5th and final call from Rick Ramsey to my husband, he stated that we needed to pay before he would come out. My husband told him again that our business would be going elsewhere—especially since he removed 2 parts from our home that were never the issue because he threw a fit and because he was so unprofessional and disrespectful to not only us, but his 2 employees. My husband said he appreciated the call and that there was no reason to call our phone again as our business transaction was complete. He hung up AGAIN on my husband. If you want an honest, reliable, and respectful plumber, I suggest you go somewhere other than Affordable Plumbing & Sewer, LLC, owned by Rick Ramsey. What an absolute nightmare it was dealing with him. I have no idea how he’s still in business.
Plumbing is one of those things you dread spending money on; I mean no one ever says, "Hey, you want to see the new pipe in my basement?" But when you need to, you want to find a company that does good work at a fair and reasonable price. I can honestly say that Affordable Plumbing & Sewer is those guys. We have one of those homes in Brookside with the dreaded 100-year-old sewer line. Ours was really in bad shape, and unfortunately for us, we did not find out about it until a home inspection while we were selling the house. Affordable was called into to assess the situation. They said it was bad. I also called a couple of other plumbing companies as well. One company changed its estimate three times. Another never called me back after promising they would. I read the reviews on Affordable, I admit, after reading some of them, I was apprehensive. But they said they would stick to the estimate, and the work needed to be done to move forward with the sale. On the day of the pipe burst, Affordable sent a team of guys to my house. They encounter several challenges during the job from a house trap encased in 2 feet of concrete (it shouldn't be that way); to a hidden manhole; to having to fuse the pipes inside so they wouldn't have to break the windows that are sealed shut. The job was way more complicated and time-consuming than anyone thought, but they got it done. And what's more, they stuck to their estimate. I give a lot of credit to Rick, who was there for all the issues and found a way through them. He is genuinely a nice man who has volumes of experience doing complicated jobs. So if you live in the Brookside area (or in the KC metro) and have the "sewer problem" or any other problem, give Affordable Plumbing & Sewer a call.
To make a long story short, I hired Affordable Plumbing to do work on my home because the buyer's agent for our home sale wanted us to use them. They did the initial inspection and recommended the work that needed to be done. My wife and I hired them to do that work and here is where our trouble started. Matt, our technician, called me saying he was at an address 30 minutes away (obviously an office error) then accused me of doing something wrong. When he arrived at my house he apologized and got to work. When he finished, he told me my sewer line had been cleaned and that he had confirmed it with a video scope. Our buyer needed a recording of the video scope, which we did not receive from Affordable plumbing, so they hired them again to come out and rescope. This time the technician, Jeff, said that the lines were not only not clean but hadn't even been cleared of major obstructions. He could not even get to the main sewer pipe. When I called to ask about receiving a refund, Kim, the office manager, was extremely professional but (after several conversations) said that her boss was unwilling to give us a full refund. I insisted on a full refund because they did not do the work we hired them to do. Instead of speaking with me, the owner, Rick, called my wife. He was rude, condescending, and unprofessional. He also decided that he would not give us any refund at all. We have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and hope that this review will help any others out there choose a company that has the dignity to do the right thing when their work is unsatisfactory.
Lying, thieving CROOKS. Caught them RED-HANDED trying to sell me a jetting service for $650.00 for a tree root. They are either LYING or don't know what they're doing. You don't send a jet nozzle into tree roots, the nozzle may get stuck. They didn't know I have jetting experience and either tried to hustle my elderly mother or they just don't know what they're doing! The lazy a$$ that was there cleared only enough to get his silly camera into the line, take pictures and told a ball face lie. You don't jet tree roots!! That's idiotic! I jet for a living so I knew he was lying as soon as I got the text. (Crooks!) Stealing from old lady's UPDATE!!! Since they asked for it After watching the camera go into the drain myself; there weren't that many tree roots causing problems. The bigger issue was a connectivity problem with the cast iron to the PVC plumbing underground from a bathroom add on. Some how their fancy camera missed that (which for $99.00 is amazing!). Their suggestion of jetting cast iron with minimal tree roots was a piss poor suggestion as jetting weak cast iron could cause a pipe collapse. The PVC to cast iron connection is the bigger issue and the weak cast iron it the biggest issue. None of these are solved with $650.00 of jetting. Jetting likely would lead to more problems. The cost of competent assessment...$15.00. I paid them and sent them a copy of the money order for their $99.00 pick pocketing. I can only wish them the best. Their pick pocketing and poor assessment will catch up eventually and the reputation will not be salvageable.
We had the dreaded main line backup the night before we had to head out of town for Thanksgiving which really stinks, literally and figuratively. I called one of the local big companies as our plumber was booked that morning. They came out and tried to clear the line 3 times to no avail. They then quoted us an astronomical amount (I'm talking take out a loan large) to jet the line. Being my Dutch self I couldn't fathom that number, so I called back our regular plumber. He referred me to Affordable Plumbing and said he hasn't seen a block Rick and his guys haven't been able to clear, so I gave them a call. Rick sent me over to their office line to get it scheduled and she was wonderful. By this time we were on the road but Anthony was able to come out and work through our external access point that afternoon. I spoke with him briefly once he was done and said he had to switch out for a bigger cutter but was it was no issue at all. Then Rick himself called me later that evening to make sure everything was taken of. I was beyond impressed he followed up and it was Thanksgiving Eve too boot. Affordable Plumbing lived up to their name, by saving me over a thousand bucks and even better than that they took care of my issue with brilliant customer service. Thank you so much!!!!
The person that unclogged the pipe behind my toilet used a metal snake. It basically destroyed the toilet bowl scratching it up to the point that the only way to fix it is to probably replace the toilet. I have reached out to the owners and sent them photos of the damage but have heard nothing back in over a week. Stay far away from these people. They don’t know what they are doing and don’t stand by their work. Next stop is small claims court. I hope no one else has to to go through any sort of experience with these people. Trying to work with them to resolve the issue has been a nightmare. They have been rude and yelled at my fiancé when we tried contacting them about it. Also have emailed them photos of the damage at their request then heard nothing back for 2 weeks. The next call was them accusing us of having damaged the toilet ourselves. The absurdity of the whole thing was almost funny. Stay far away from Rick Ramsey and this business. They say to call you in their replies to their reviews but only do so that Rick can yell and scream at you and threaten you if you leave your bad review up. We purchased our home through a realtor that we are are related to. She recommended Affordable Plumbing but will no longer be doing so.
A few weeks ago, my sewer line backed up into my basement. I called another plumber, as they were the first ones able to get me on the schedule. They came out, videoed the line... wouldn't show me the whole video btw, and proceeded to tell me i need my main line completely replaced and shot me a $15,000.00 estimate. Another company wanted $2000.00 to hydro-clean the line after their video inspection prior to providing an estimate for the replacement claiming there was too much build up to tell what was going on. I called Affordable Plumbing to get a third estimate, their plumber showed up, videoed the line, he invited me to watch which none of the other companies did, He showed me all the joints, and took extra care when examining a spot one of the other companies had marked as a hot spot. Upon finishing the examination, Jeff (Afforable's plumber) told me I see no major issues, your line could use a clean out to get rid of some of these roots, but other than that its in good shape. Affordable Plumbing I really appreciate your honesty!
The quoted just a little over half of what Hamilton quoted for trenching the line in my basement. Affordable did it trenchless for all 35ft of cast iron. They did the work as quoted and didn't break any concrete in the process, which was awesome (not much mess). I had a 3rd party inspect the work and he said it looked like they did a really good job (and mentioned that Affordable tends to do really good work on liners). As a bonus they ran the hydro jet down the 80ft clay connection to the city main and it looked pretty darn good afterwards. Not prefect, but given they charged $0 for cleaning that portion of the line I'm totally happy with it, I feel like this is a place where other companies might upcharge on the job site. The technician took the time to explain some additional stuff about my house's floor drains that I didn't understand before, too. I hope I never need them again, but they will be at the top of my list of I do!
On 8/6/2020, as I was driving home, I was almost run into by one of their trucks, #232. I observed the driver serving in and out of traffic with a missing driver side mirror, including cutting off a semi truck and trailer, causing the truck driver to slam on his breaks. I called and reported the driver to their office and also called Highway Patrol due to the dangerous driving. When the office opened on 8/7/2020 I received a phone call from someone who made many excuses for the driver's behavior and action. I did not accept the excuses and was yelled at for being unreasonable. I hung up on the person at which point he called back several times to argue that I was wrong for complaining, at which point I stopped answering the phone. Driver was dangerous and Office didn't care and tried to tell me I was wrong for reporting them.
This service was FANTASTIC! I'm currently selling my house and the buyers requested a sewer clean out. I called them this AM to do the service ASAP and the kind lady at the front desk talked me through all of my options and even went through the buyers plumber report with me to make a recommendation of which of their services I should use. I need the service before tomorrow (when the inspection period was up) and they had someone out to me within a few hours. The technician who came to my home was very professional and patient and explained ever step to me as he went. He completed the job within an hour and waited patiently for me to finish a conference call to provide payment before he left. Will DEFINTELY recommend utilizing this team for any plumbing work in the future!
I would highly recommend Affordable Plumbing! Affordable Plumbing came out to repair a faulty U-Line pipe and replace our sewer line using the trenchless method. Throughout the quick and easy process, they were timely, professional, knowledgeable and very quick to get the job done, plus, cost significantly less than the other quotes we received. Rick was extremely responsive, personable and came out on a Saturday morning to finish up the repair work, which was even out of the company's service area. I am very impressed with the level of service, responsiveness and cost, compared to other plumbers I have had experience with in the KC area. Two thumbs up for Affordable Plumbing!
I had Bob Hamilton over to snake and camera my lines as I am putting in a new bathroom in my basement. Just wanted to make sure my lines were good for the addition. Well Bob Hamilton doesn't actually clear the lines they just try to upsell you on everything. I worked with Rick, Rick is the owner of Affordable Plumbing and he did an awesome job. He was able to get the root ball out, get it cleaned and then camera it to make sure the lines were clear of debris. I would highly recommend him and his company as he did me a huge solid at the last minute to come take a look. I will continue to use him and his company and recommend anyone who needs a plumber. Thanks again Rick!
We have used Affordable Plumbing in the past with good results, but recently reached out to them for additional work. Scheduling has been an absolute nightmare this time. Their scheduler told us their tech would be there, but nobody showed. Eventually the scheduler just gave us the direct phone number for the tech and told us to reach out to the tech. Though we found that unprofessional, we reached out to the tech, who never returned our call. We've done this whole song and dance (scheduler unable to get tech to show up, scheduler giving us tech's number, tech not returning call) two or three times now. Save your time and effort and just go elsewhere.
Do not use this company. Hired them to run a auger to clear roots from the sewer line. The tech did not tell us to not use and fixtures on the main floor while he was doing this. My wife flushed a toilet on the main floor and nasty water came out all around on the basement floor. He was I’ll equipped to clean up the mess, even though said he had a few rags. My wife has now spent 6 hours disinfecting the floor and 3 loads of laundry of old towels and sheets used to clean up the water on the basement floor. Maybe if they see this, they will refund the charges, and pay my wife the hourly rate they charge for cleaning up the mess they created.
Rick and Affordable Plumbing was recommended to me by another plumber, who didn't have the equipment to do my job. He said Rick is an honest man and he highly recommended him. Previously, I had 3 other plumbers come give me all different diagnosis with outrageous bids. I felt the other companies were working on a commission and were trying to get me to pay for work that wasn't needed. I called Rick. He came right out on a Saturday morning to camera my line. He sent me his proposal 24 hours later, and the job was done successfully that week at a reasonable price. He didn't push me to do more then what was needed. Thank you Rick!
So only leaving this because I feel its right for how the owner handled the situation. Neighbors house had work done. When attempting to get the truck into the drive way between my house and the neighbors house some damage occurred to my flower bed I put up almost a year ago for my mom who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The owner actually came out after i notified his company of the damage. He repaired what little damage occurred and apologized. Ive never had any owner do this when his employees have caused an issue. Will definitely look to using these guys in the future.
I had been told by a previous plumber I would need to replace my whole faucet and was quoted a $600-900 price tag depending on the type I picked. I called Affordable Plumbing for a second opinion. The plumber came out, spent time examining and repairing my current faucet for $75. On top of that, he was professional, friendly and on time. He also seemed to do a thorough job unlike the previous company who came out and determined I needed to replace the whole thing after just 10 minutes of looking at it. So glad I used this company! I would highly recommend!
We were very impressed with Affordable Plumbing. We have used them several times and have always found them to be reliable, thorough and fair. We received multiple quotes on our recent plumbing issues and Affordable Plumbing stood out above the rest. One company stated we needed extensive work that was well above our budget. Affordable plumbing gave us several options and worked with us to fix our issues within our budget. The crew that worked with us was exceptional! They were kind and helpful. I would gladly welcome them back in our home .
I can not tell you all how very THANKFUL and GRATEFUL we are to Affordable Plumbing. Rick, Jeff and the team went ABOVE and BEYOND to rectify our major repair. They jumped in and completed the work 2 weeks before they were supposed to start. We found additional repair issues and they were very detailed and thorough. Extremely reasonable for the amount of work needed (lots of hand digging!) I would give them 10 ⭐️ if possible. I will ONLY use Affordable Plumbing in the future and recommend them to anyone. VERY WELL DONE!!
Showed up 1 hour late for 8am appointment on Tues Feb 9. Did not bring tools for job to fix washing machine valve. Did not fix hall bathroom sink leak. Had my own sump pump that I went to get from Home Depot and when I left after communicating with tech, he left house. Called him and said he would not be back. Talked to manager who said she would call him at 9:19 am to find out and then make things right. Did not call back at all...ever. It is Thursday today. Unreliable. Unprofessional. Horrible experience.
I just called and spoke with Jessica asked if they gave free estimates and she asked what the problem was, I said maybe the main. She asked have I had any others, I had just had my first. I'm trying to tell her that it might be more issues and she started giving prices, I said I need an appointment first she said $99 to clean the main then $650 I'm like how do you know if it's not been looked at. Got into a shouting match when I asked to schedule an appt.... She hung up. Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL.
Raw sewage backed up into our basement. Called ABMAY and they could not clear the line and quoted a $10,000 total replacement. Contacted 3 other companies, all similar to ABMAY. Contacted AFFORDABLE and the name says it all. First of all they DID clear the line for $650.00!!! Told me exactly what the problem was. Examined the entire line, front to back-- that is more than 100'. Gave me an option that would cost half of the other quys. Please call them first, don't waste your time on anyone else!
I highly recommend Rick Ramsey and his crew at Affordable Plumbing. After interviewing two other companies Rick, was my third plumber to interview. He was my first choice because of his sincerity, hard work and his many years of experience. Rick answers my calls, shows up on time and is the consummate professional. My plumbing issues were vast...excavating front yard to repair collapsed sewer line, clean out installed, etc.... Also, replaced old cast iron pipes in the basement. Thank you, Rick!
Affordable Plumbing is great. John and Tristan came out today and repaired our sewer line to the street. They were both extremely courteous and indulged me with every question I had without any hesitation or reservations. They were quick to inform me on every development as the process went along as well. This place is worth every penny, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Thank you Affordable Plumbing!!! John and Tristan are stellar, A+ workers!!!
Not only are the prices for the company very “Affordable”, but their service is impeccable. I had a sewer line that was separated and needed to be dug up. Would have cost me $1200+ out of my pocket. Affordable Plumbing was honest with their diagnosis and advised it was in City property and therefore City’s problem. It only cost me $100 for them to scope the line and make the city do the repair!
What a great company, I had them out to scope my sewer line. It was backed up so they sent out someone to unclog my sewer line to the city line at the same time. The camera guy was so helpful and he waited for the unclog guy to show up and they worked together to make everything work again. I’m now a hero to my wife thanks to affordable plumbing. You guys crushed it, thanks so much !!
augured an videos of sewer line.were here early. Colby did a great job. cleaning line. showing me what was wrong giving me estimates an recommendations. He is a young guy but new what he was doing . did call boss to get estimates on lining my line. I would recommend this company. they are coming back to jet the lines so look forward to another post on that service
I ask them to put a camera in my downspouts to see if they were open or closed. He was able to give the answers I wanted and took the extra time to find the drain pop ups. They were on time with their appointment and called ahead to let me know they were on their way. They were honest and reliable. I am very pleased with their work. I would use them again!
Soooo thankful my landlord, finally called a plumber…BRYCE!!! I’ve had three weeks with no sink. I’m glad he finally called somebody. I love this company Bryce did such a good job. Very friendly very efficient knew what he was doing and was in and out of here real quick.! I will be recommending this company to my family and friends… Good job guys
This company horrible. Bid left off essential part of job. Called three times to fix. Showed up 40 min late without needed supplies. Caught him on his phone. 30 min late getting back with supplies. When I told them I was going to find a different plumber, they turned off water to the house out of spite. I am reporting this company.
We used Affordable Plumbing to remove a house trap and repair about 7' of sewer with an epoxy liner. They did a great job, workers were very friendly. The owner, Rick, ended up coming by in the evening to inspect and fix a small problem they had uncovered during the day. We would definitely use them again.
A pretty lousy company. Our realtor wanted us to use them and we have had a terrible experience. They were supposed to be at my house at 9 am with no call or no show that whole day. They wouldn’t answer their phone either. When they finally arrived a day late, their crew was anything but professional.
I used them to replace a main drain. House was vacant so they bounced in and out as needed. Dust from the floor cutting got on everything so they hired a cleaning crew to take care of it. I feel like they did a good job for what was needed. And were more fair than other quotes.
Always prompt, last year they fixed my sewer line as a severe thunderstorm was looming, literally finished the job with thunderstorm and lightning occurring. And we're very friendly about it and got it done for way less than other companies were quoting
Was able to fix our main Line in a affordable and professional manner David was our plumber and was courteous and Thoughtful in doing his work recommend David to family and friends for all plumbing problems in future Thanks Affordable Plumbing again
Called for a week leaving messages to get a sewer line inspection go purchase a home their voicemail states leave message they will call back by end of next business here we are a week later no call back still not answering
Joe was friendly, fast and fully explained his installation of a gas shutoff valve and repair of gas line to my clothes dryer. My wife and I were both impressed with his service.
Never actually used them because they quoted me one price and then the next day quoted me a price $100 more than the previous quote just one day before!
Had Rick our today to fix a mainline backup super quick exceptional service and went above and beyond to make sure it was clear to the city line.
The Rick Plumber was excellent! But the office staff needs to work on answering phone calls and scheduling service on time and accurately.
Bryce was very knowledgeable and attentive to detail. would highly recommend for main line cleaning and other plumbing maintenance.
Bryce was the best he came in and did the job really fast and well! Then CLEANED UP EVERYTHING like he was never here!
This company is fantastic! Everyone I’ve dealt with has been professional, very friendly and got the job done!
They came out last minute and helped assure us that the sewer line was superb. Thank you so much!
Will use again and recommend to others. TONY was very knowledgeable and HONEST
Tony got the job done and was fair to us by honoring his quote. Thank you
Explained in detail the problem. Very knowledgeable. Friendly service men
Always helpful. Always reliable. I like working with this contractor.
I had them out to inspect my main line. Couldn't be happier.
Friendly and fast plumbing company. Would use again!
