I make of point of dropping in when I'm in town. The shows rotate fairly frequently. It seems like there's always something new to see. This is a good place to introduce children to art museums -- meaning that the collection isn't huge and doesn't take hours to see it, the admission charge is very reasonable (free for those18 years old and younger), and they often have family friendly events. They also offer classes for children, adults, families, and school groups. See their website for details. They just recently (Nov 2015) won an Exhibition of the Year award from the Ontario Association of Art Galleries (OAAG). The permanent collection contains Canadian historical art, Baroque Dutch art (incl. two previously unknown works by Rembrandt), and African art.

First off, you can go to this place for free. They have really good selection of art. Modern, contemporary, historic. Bader gallery where Rembrandt and company was displayed was our favorite. Covid protocols are being followed, masks and sanitizers are available for everyone. House of Agnes was beautifully decorated. You could easily spend hours here. The whole place was sparkling clean and well appointed. The staff were all friendly and courteous. Can't wait to bring my daughters here.
I attended Walter Scott's workshop at Agnes Etherington Art Centre On Sun. Jan 19. It was so much fun! Along with Walter's tremendous talent that he brings to the classroom, he is also able to impart upon his students the believe that they too can create a comic strip. The atmosphere in the classroom was fun, positive and respective of all levels of individual accomplishments. If Kingston is lucky enough to have Walter offer any more workshops I would highly recommend it.
The Agnes E. Art center is an outstanding collection of 17th century to modern art exhibits. It's tucked right in the middle of Queens University. Paired with the origional Elizabeth Bader home, this amazing building is home to an extraordinary collection of artwork, interpretive exhibits, workshops for adults and children.... It is a jewel nestled in the beautiful limestone buildings that make Queens University a must see and explore experience.
This gallery really doesn't want visitors from off campus. I brought my kids here today and you are not allowed to park behind the building or anywhere nearby except in 1 spot that was occupied. I called and was told the one spot had opened but when I went to it my car was too big and it is only a Ford fusion. I loved the quilt collection and other works when I lived on campus years ago but am not able to visit now, very disappointing.
This visit was a pleasant surprise. It boasts a collection of 4 Rembrandt's but all but 1 were on tour. The highlight for our short visit was the quality and variety of Dutch Masters, contemporaries of Rembrandt, from the 17th C. It is an extraordinary selection. The staff were helpful and friendly. This collection may only be available until Spring 2022.
We've been going to the Agnes Etherington for our forty years. Our first contacts centered on renting paintings from its rental centre and then eventually purchasing them. Recent years have focused on attending new exhibition openings and the monthly Sunday music and talks. The Monkman exhibition opened last fall was spectacular and very memorable.
Not a lot of art centres in town. Cool place to bring a date if they're into that kind of thing. Went to the Rembrandt exhibit recently. I don't know how do you review something like this? Well lit, non- obtrusive security, not busy not feeling rushed. Had a good time. Sliding scale to get in as they accept donations rather than charge a flat fee.
The staff were nice and helped us with our map of the centre. They seem to add new exhibits regularly. All the exhibits were interesting and beautiful to look at and examine the art pieces. Lockers were available if you needed to put stuff away while you walk around.
what a wonderful discovery! I've known about this place for years but had never visited until recently. The Rembrandt exhibit was quiet and marvelous. To be in an empty room with these masterpeices was food for my artistic soul!
Very nice isolation of art pieces, especially the Rembrandt collection. Only qualm is the curators choices for the first room that you are forced to walk through. I am aware there is some purpose to it, but it was lost on me.
Amazing collection and a variety of themes for all. In the heart of Queen University. They have a few Rembrandt paintings. If you go to Kingston, Ontario, don’t miss it. Free entrance. The visit takes an average of 2 hours.
Four Rembrandts In Kingston??? We are too lucky! This gallery is a real treasure for both Queen’s and the larger Kingston community. The people at the front desk clearly love art. I always appreciate coming here.
Great artwork on display. During the time of our visit, only 1 exhibit was open. It was dedicated to showcasing famous Canadian Indeginous/Inuit art. Other parts of the gallery were closed for renovations.
Great mix of historical, modern, and contemporary art expertly curated. Small enough that you can see it all in an hour or so, but quality enough that you could spend several hours across all the works.
Went here as part of a date with my hubby and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the admission was free to enter. We saw the Rembrandt exhibit and were happy to check out the other exhibit's
interesting art pieces. I really liked the snails on cheesies but not the snail on Kim Kardashian bum one. (for real. Kim k's bum is in 2 of the pieces) i also enjoyed the pieces from women in prison.
A few paintings and sculptures. Not much in the way of background information. Much of it was the 1970s and later.

Poor use of space I wish it has pieces and was bigger I find it odd the pieces they choose to put in the gallery to display often don't project what they are trying to say.
It is a small gallery with a wonderful space and a welcoming staff. I saw a show of indigenous artists, especially Inuit artists, that was one the best I have seen.
Fantastic free art gallery in the middle of a beautiful historic university campus. They frequently rotate the exhibits so it's different every time you visit.
Includes paintings, sculptures, and graphics by major Canadian artists.

A smaller museum, but full quality and excellent curation. Children's programming is adaptive and well done. Beautiful facilities for special events.
Agnes has some wonderful pieces of arts. The good thing is that it's free. In my humble opinion, it's a vital part of of queen's university campus.
Small museum with modern indigenous art. Interesting and free

Great art and wonderful place clean excellent customer service with friendly staff and many historical documentary. I enjoyed my 2 visits there.
Small but well curated gallery, constantly rotating pieces encourage many visits and the permanent collection is always worth a second look.
Its collection of Rembrandts and northern European art is among the world's best, thanks to the generosity of Drs. Alfred and Isabel Bader.
Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The building itself is beautiful and well maintained, overall excellent experience
Clean, quiet, and has interesting art. Only complaint is that it's not massive, but some is better than none i guess
It's a lovely establishment, however, we could not enter due to covid and the other side is under construction.
Agnes Etherington is a neat Art Gallery on Queen's University Campus. Definitely worth a browse!
A few rooms were closed for covid, but there was still plenty to see. Absolutely excellent!
Beautiful and quite place to enjoy the art pieces. Some items need more explanation
Beautiful little package of artful joy, great people and a very nice ambiance
