Our german shepherd starting showing signs of distress shortly after eating. We determined that an emergency ER visit was needed and researched the 3-4 local after-hours ER's available for pets, deciding on the Airport Animal Emergi-Center after reading the bios of the vets. We arrived and were immediately led to an exam room with no wait by Jade, the front office tech. They did a quick triage to get symptoms, asked some questions and took our dog to get x-rays with 1 minute or 2, after asking for approval of the charge. Within 3 minutes Dr. Gray, the vet on duty that night, came into the room and explained our dog's diagnosis - bloat, or GDV. We had an inkling that is what was ailing our dog and were not surprised. Dr. Gray explained (1) - it was nothing that we did wrong and (2) our options going forward. There are basically 2 options for GDV, immediate surgery or euthanasia. Dr. Gray gave us the ballpark estimate of charges (which ultimately were right on the money to what she quoted). We immediately chose surgery - Dr. Gray explained in detail the potential outcomes of the surgery, both positive and negative, depending on what was found in terms of damage from the GDV before we got our dog there. Thankfully, we caught the symptoms very early and a couple of hours later received the call from Dr. Gray that the surgery was a success. We are 2 days removed from the surgery and are greatly relieved with the efforts of the entire staff at the Airport Animal Emergi-Center in saving our shepherd's life that night. We had a follow up visit with our own vet today who spoke very highly of the Emergency Center and the surgical result she could see with our dog. We have used other vet ER's in years past locally - I can guarantee that we will never go anywhere else again as long as we have pets and live in the Indianapolis area! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Dr. Gray and staff!
Our sweet 13 year old Howie (yorkie) stopped eating and vomiting Saturday morning. By Sunday morning he was not any better. We drove an hour to Indy to the Airport Animal Emerging-Center. They got us into a room quickly, got Howies vitals, and made us as comfortable as possible until Dr. Sheff could see him. Within the hour Dr Sheff has examined him and started a full blood panel. Within 30 minutes his results were back and Dr Sheff explained every test in detail to us. Unfortunately our little guy was very ill and needed to be admitted. He explained his course of treatment, told us that the number one thing for us to know is we are to call and check on Howie as often as we need to there is no limit so call all day if we want. That meant the world to us. The day progressed and an ultrasound was done. Unfortunately the results were not what we had hoped Howie had a bad gallbladder that was causing his organs to decline. Dr Sheff called immediately and explained or options. Shortly after he called again to tell us Howie had a seizure. We immediately drove back to Indy to be with our boy. Unfortunately we had to make the toughest decision ever and have him put to sleep. The staff were so compassionate and caring not only during this difficult moment but the entire visit. Dr Sheff was amazing. I know this is a long review but I wanted to share our story and full experience while there. They are thorough, caring and beyond compassionate. I have read some reviews about pricing.. yes it does cost a lot to bring your animal to an emergency vet (not just here) but it’s no different than a human you go to your primary doctor and it’s cheaper than the ER. So I was not upset by the cost and they told us before anything was done what the cost would be. I will highly recommend this emergency clinic to anyone and I will forever be great full for the help they provided.
It is ridiculous that an animal hospital will NOT take my cat in when it comes to an emergency. I called this hospital at 5pm telling them about my situation (cat has blood in urine and lethargic). They said it was an emergency situation and we had to come in to get him seen soon. Once my husband got home from work, we called again telling them we were going to be on our way and have our cat checked and looked at. They said "no problem, call us when you get to the parking lot, and if there are no rooms available, we can at least start the paperwork while you're in the parking lot." So we drove over an half an hour to get there (and we TOLD them it would be around rather time frame) and then we called while we were in the parking lot. They THEN said "we're not accepting any new intakes and will refer you to another animal hospital that's another 15 minutes away." Even though they told us we can start paperwork in the lot, they flat out denied us. So you mean to tell us that we drove over half an hour away, when you told us we can come up there, only to get there and straight up DENY our sick pet immediately? That is ridiculous. Our cat is sick and could be in a dire situation (and you guys said it was an emergency). At this rate, this hospital could have your pet die and waste your time driving there. Luckily, our cat will be okay HOPEFULLY before his vet appointment, but do not go to this hospital for any emergency situation regarding your animal at all. I am very upset and will never call this hospital or refer them to anyone, especially when your pet's life could be on the line.
I brought my yellow lab Favre in on 7/4/2021 because he had a stomach blockage from a roll of tape. He had 20+ piles of puke that I had discovered the morning of 7/4/2021 and it was hard to walk due to the blockage. I immediately took him to Airport Animal Emergi-Center, with clear symptoms of a blockage. I arrived before multiple other patients at a time that had few people, and was told that my dog was not “severe” enough so that they wouldn’t see him first. We sat in the parking lot for 2 hours after this, and keep in mind he had puked at home and puked up blood shortly before leaving to take him to this establishment. Only after calling and complaining that he was an urgent patient, they took him inside and then made him sit by himself for the last 2 hours of his life, did god knows what to him, and then decided to call us in when he was to the point where he had “too little of a chance of survival” due to complications of not taking care of the blockage. Now I have a dead dog because of the lack of care by a veterinary staff that I trusted with my pet. Do NOT take your animal here if you value their life in any way. I will not be returning in the future, and I will make sure friends, family and anyone I know with a pet don’t make the same mistake of bringing their pet here like I did.
I took my dog here last night after calling Noahs and hearing they had a 3 hour wait. Airport said their wait was about 1 hour. My dog had been vomiting all day and couldn’t keep any food or water down, including plain boiled chicken. I was afraid she had eaten part of a tennis ball that my pet sitter gave her. When we got to the clinic they told us to come in, and we got a room right away. I didn’t even have to wait the quoted hour, the vet took her back for xrays pretty quickly. The vet said there is no visible obstruction but her intestines and stomach look inflamed. She gave my dog nausea meds and some IV fluids under her skin, Ive never seen that before so it was interesting. So far my baby is doing ok, she hasn’t thrown up since she took the nausea meds 13 hours ago. It was expensive but we received excellent care and Im surprised to see all the negative reviews. I will update this review if anything else happens.
Dr. Gust and his team got my sweet Hank in to be seen in a timely fashion after we drove 2 hours from the Fort Wayne area. He actually sat on the ground and listened to us and gave Hank the compassion that I expected from a vet. He offered us multiple options and wanted to be sure before we jumped right into surgery. Turns out surgery was our best option and he was able to successfully remove the foreign body from his small intestine. Thank you so much for taking such great care of our dog and not overcharging us for the things that needed to be done. It was worth the drive after we were told by NIVES it would be 2x as much for everything Hank needed. X-rays, ultrasound, and surgery all were reasonably priced from airport animal energy-center. Thank you so much again for truly caring about our pet ♥️
Our experience, as far as care for our cat, was great. The doctors were great and all but one nurse/assistant was great. Tammy is not suitable for emergency care. The people that come to this facility are panicked and scared. No one wants to be there. Any question that we asked was met with rudeness. We asked if our cat needed certain medications and she acted as if we were being unreasonable. I asked if I could take my daughter home during the wait (my cat had already been taken back for care) and she told me I’d move to the back of the line (without even knowing what our case was). Another nurse immediately helped us, took us to a room and provided actual care that met our needs and answered our questions. Tammy made our experience worse than it already was.
With no ER vet in Terre Haute, found this gem. Called Sunday a.m. We were really stressed over breathing/coughing issue of our 12 yr old fur baby. Young lady was very kind, patient and helpful. Drove an hour to Indy, went in, they were super nice, looked Odie over to make sure he didn't need oxygen, filled out paperwork and waited a bit as they were busy. Got in and Dr. Sheff and his staff diagnosed issue immediately, couple of shots, meds, and after a short observation period, we were headed back home with a remarkably better pup! If there's a more professional, competent and truly caring vet staff, I'd be shocked. We all know how we feel about our pets....they're family. This staff treated them, and us, as such. So very thankful for their help!! Bravo!!
I have visited this center twice. The first trip I was referred to from an emergency vet. Upon arriving they in-took my expected cat very quickly. Dr. Ryan performed emergency surgery to remove a blockage and saved my cats life. My most recent visit I arrived at 6:05 and was immediately taken to an exam room and seen by Dr. Murphy who was able to determine my cat had a urinary obstruction and was able to insert a catheter. My cat then had to stay overnight for care. Upon pickup Lea was able to help me transfer my pet for further veterinary observation.
I am a truck driver and my dog cut her paw pad getting into my truck. Found this vet via google, they were so nice on the phone gave me directions on where I could park and got us in super fast and had my girl all patched up in no time. I told them my budget and they were able to stay within it. So glad I found them, honestly I hope I’m not in need of their services again but if I’m in Indy and have a vet emergency I will definitely be back. The Doctor and techs were so nice and actually cared about my girl and her pain. Thank you so much!!
The staff and Doc Levos were WONDERFUL!! I called at 11pm crying, asking for help with my dog. The woman on the phone was so comforting and kind. It was an hour drive but the second we got there we were helped. Doc was straightforward, answered all my questions, gave some insight on prognosis, and was kind. One shot, a bit of cheese, and some medication prescriptions later back on the way home; my handsome boy is SO much more comfortable. The information from the visit has been sent to our home vet, so nothing was lost.
First time ever visiting an emergency vet. Staff and Dr Gust were all great and very caring towards our dog. Our dog had temperature of 106 and felt just awful. They ran several tests and sent us home with 3 medications. Dr Gust was good at explaining where they were in the process and their findings as soon as the tests were done. Price was just over $1000 which I felt was fair based on horror stories of other emergency vet places. I would recommend and will for sure come back if we ever need emergency care again.
We brought our 15 year old toy poodle Cocoa here on Fathers Day. She had difficulty breathing while enduring through some other medical issues. The worst decision my husband and I ever made was done that day. Our hearts are still broken. However, we know without a doubt we made the right decision. Dr Sheff and the staff did everything they could to support us. We can't thank them enough. They are professional and a very kind group of people. We recommend them highly...they deserve more then 5 stars.
Dr. Gust saved my cat’s life! I arrived when they opened at 6pm and he immediately knew what was wrong with Boo Boo. He was very caring and honest with me regarding every aspect of Boo Boo’s care, financially and medically. His bladder was obstructed and he was required to stay overnight. Sweet Boo was very sick and he could have died if he hadn’t been treated immediately. I can’t thank Dr. Gust and his compassionate staff enough for everything they did for my sweet boy.
Airport Animal Emergi-Center provided compassionate euthanasia for our terminally-ill 15 year old puppy after local charlatans demonstrated their priorities rested with weekend plans over a mere veterinarian's oath. They made one of the most difficult and painful decision of our lives a bit easier by ensuring our guy went exceptionally peacefully. The veterinary industry should take a note from professionals like this. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Dr. Ryan saved my Great Dane’s life last night in emergency surgery to repair bloat/GDV. She was helpful, responsive, and clearly very capable. My canine best friend is currently happily resting with her head on my lap when just 24 hours ago I was preparing myself to say goodbye to her. I can’t say enough about this clinic, their fast response, and their care for my girl. Thank you Dr. Ryan for giving me my best friend back.
We took our puppy there with vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy after 24 hours. They were clean and very attentive. I feel as though my dog was the least of their problems but she was treated with kindness and love. She loved the multiple techs and the dr she saw. They gave her meds and she was back to herself the next day. Overall cost was reasonable and transparent considering the environment.
They got us in within minutes and saw our dog soon after. The care and love they showed to our injured pet was priceless. You may pay a bit more than a regular vet but it was worth it for us on a Saturday. The vet we saw was knowledgeable and nice. He gave us a diagnosis and the care we needed. We were in and out, but not rushed, in no time. On the mend. Highly recommend them!
I’ve had to take my cat to the ER twice in her 8 year life. Both times I have come here & with same vet both times. Place is clean, smells like bleach, updated, and designed for efficient cleaning. I like this, knowing they are more likely to wipe down the cement bench vs a chair. Affordable. Helpful. Honest. Personable. Caring. I definitely recommend.
This emergency vet helped me so many times when it came to my beautiful ChiChi. She was very ill in the end stages of her life and they took such great care of her. Thank you so much for all you did. Unfortunately ChiChi is no longer with us, but I have you to thank for making her last days loved and beautiful. From the bottom of my heart … thank you
Things always seem to go wrong at the worst possible times. If it does for your pet: I 100% would recommend this place! Today was the second time we needed them. Both times the staff were very friendly and prompt. The Vet was careing appeared to be very competent. Don't hesitate to trust your pet's care and well-being to them. Dr. Robert Stewart
This place should not be listed as an "Emergency center" they completely ignored my dog she was throwing up blood and was 4 months old all they could tell me was "just 2 more hours" every 2 or so hours. They then refused service while I was explaining my frustration. Please do not go here for the sake of our furry friends.
Very helpful and understanding of our situation. Rescued kitten was fine day 1 and then became shaky day 2 and paralyzed for over a week. I kept feeding the kitten via syringe and doing physical therapy for her. It's been a couple weeks now and she is still shaky, but is running and playing!
They were friendly, caring, quick, compassionate, the treatment was affective, and the vet and techs were excellent at educating me on my cat’s needs and next steps. They took a scary situation and made it less traumatic than it could have been.
I can not express how thankful our family is of this place and the staff that work there! Our baby girl had to be rushed in and we thought we where going to have to put her down. This place helped save our babies life! I will forever be
They put my baby kitty back together. She was playing with her brother on the cat tree and she fell and her belly slid down the side of a plastic table corner and literally ripped her from chest to between hind legs, maybe 4 inches from
Dr. Gust did an amazing job with our lab, saving us from having to go into surgery. We are so thankful they were open and Dr. Gust was available to work on him. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Go here first.
The most caring staff here! And for an after hours emergency vet, we were shocked how inexpensive it was. So thankful they were able to care for our cat last night!
