When my husband and I travel we fly to our destinations if possible San Diego North Island Naval base to enjoy the ocean. But we rent a car which is so easy since my husband makes arrangements for the car and is a Emerald club member. There are many car rental companies there as well as sufficient and professional employees at each booth. Service is excellent from start to finish. The cars are exceptionally new, clean and have many luxury amenities. What fun to drive a different car while traveling. Inspections for damage etc are part of the contract and proof of insurance is a must. We highly recommend Airport car rental from anyone of the companies. We have never experienced a problem . It's always best to refuel before returning the car and less expensive. I give airport car rental a High Five.

We rented a truck from Alamo for our visit to San Diego. Ride over on the shuttle bus from the airport was nice and convenient from Terminal 1. Used the self check in kiosk in the lobby, but should have waited to speak with a rental agent instead about our rental. Went up to the 2nd floor to pick up our truck. Checked in with the employee upstairs, who went to get our vehicle. 1st truck they brought wasn't the correct truck size. Had to wait almost 30 minutes for them to find the full size truck we reserved. Exit from the facility was easy. Returning the vehicle was also easy off of PCH. Waited for the shuttle bus to take us back to airport for departure back home.

I was very dissatisfied. The car I had reserved was not available so they upgraded me but charged twice as much as what was quoted in the confirmation email. Then when I returned the car with a 1/2 a tank of gas, they charged $12 a gallon for gas. I was billed $113 for 1/2 tank of gas. I was 5 hours late for returning the car and was charged another $117. It was not only a fortune to rent the car but a hassle picking up and dropping off the car. From the time I landed in San Diego airport, waited for the shuttle to pick me up, sat in traffic on the shuttle, it took 2 hrs to complete the process.

We found all the employees we talked with to be very helpful at this location If you have reservations there are several automated check In stations you can use to complete your reservation without standing in line to speak to a Alamo agent. The stations are easy to use and walk you through the whole process. When we moved to the next step to pick out our they allowed us to upgrade the quality of vehicle at no charge. Romero who works at the lot where you pick the cars was very helpful. All cars were clean with trunks open waiting for your luggage.

Our experience was great coming to the car rental. Shuttle driver was kind and friendly, helped elderly with bags. However, on the way back, a gentleman by the name of kameel was not very kind. Standing by watching while a few elderly travelers struggled getting bags onto the shuttle. I can understand not offering to help every customer, that would be quite the amount of work...but to watch you're elderly travelers struggle. That seemed rude.

I reserved a car online with Budget but drove off in an Avis car. Either way, Avis provided excellent service, and the car was perfect for its purpose to get around. Excellent RAC facility, I wish the terminal bus drivers transferred passengers more often, but that's me being picky. I advise people who like to be early, to add an additional 20 - 30 mins when arriving at the airport, even during nonpeak times.

Took the free bus from the airport terminal to the car rental facility, about a 10-minute ride. All rental companies there. I rented a car for the weekend from Budget ... very easy to locate the rental car. Only comment is that the signage to get to and enter the garage on return is a bit confusing.

Got to Payless Cars a couple hours early. Guy at counter looks perplexed and tells me he doesn't have a car and I'll have to upgrade or wait the two hours. I should have called his bluff, but there's no where to wait! Another $100 plus was added as he 'upgraded' so I could get in a car. BOO!

This place seemed well organized and efficient. I was able to get from the airport to this site in a timely manner and it is clearly labeled on where to go. I did stand a bit longer than I expected to catch the shuttle back to the airport, so give yourself a little extra time.

Second time we've rented a car here. Other car rental locations should take notice! It is such a fast, clean, friendly experience. Sometimes car rental places are dumpy and sketchy and you wait in line for ages. This is one is modern and you're on your way in no time.

Won't use Payless again! Very shady business practices from the person assisting me at check in. Made me 'very' uncomfortable. Otherwise, I always utilize one of the other rental car agencies. Never had any problems with any of the other companies.

Location and building are new, big and shiny clean. But it takes a LONG time for the shuttle to get between the rental car building and the airport. Seriously, allow 30 minutes just to return your car or you may be late for your flight.

Not only does one have many options to choose a car from, that too from so many companies, this place has got it's own vibe with the murals using car parts alongside of the escalators. Absolutely amazing!

Airport car rental return is not connected to actual airport... You have to take a shuttle from the return to the terminal because it is not in walking distance

Well the location is great easy access to the freeways, but the car was not clean take a moment to go check it out even if you purchase insurance on it

Very rude when calling business. Hang up on customer when asking questions they dont have an answer for, dont recommend. Avoid using at all costs.

One part of traveling for work is dealing with rental cars. But, SAN has a great centralized rental car service with easy access in and out.

They're return system was confusing. Most airport rental centers are easy to navigate but I wasn't fully on board with the system here.

I like this area, especial for counter bypass service which most car rentals do offer. Easy access to any exit to free way or downtown

Worst car rental experience I have ever had. Huge long line for for cars that need to be assigned to a driver and it was ridiculous.

Great facility that's relatively close to the airport. A Shell gas station is nearby, in case you need to fill up on your way in.

Wait time was too long. The first vehicle we got had mechanical problem, and we had to wait in line again for returning the car.
