There aren't enough stars for customer service here. I needed to alert staff to a less usual food intolerance I have. From the outset I was listened to, taken seriously, and - I am delighted to say - never made to feel a nuisance or awkward. The communications between Jen on the reservations team and the restaurant itself seemed to work smoothly and quickly, and Jen kept me informed promptly and in a friendly, human, way. The staff on the day were well-informed and welcoming, and clearly had a system for dealing with allergies. It all meant I could relax and enjoy my meal instead of feeling a nuisance and worrying that I might have to spend a couple of days feeling ill afterwards. Between them staff found a solution so that they could provide something I could eat. Thank you all very much indeed. The restauant was buzzing with christmas spirit! (so quite loud for old ears!) Warm but not too hot, and comfortable seating. The portions were generous but not overfacing, I thought. Altogether, Albert's Didsbury showed they take seriously the meaning of 'hospitality'. Thanks, guys.

We’ve not been for years! Decided to give it a try for date night and was really disappointed. Food is so mediocre/poor, it’s ok but for the price you can much better steaks elsewhere. The service for drinks was far to slow considering how quiet it was, the food service was far too fast and felt like that was very deliberate to rush us as we were a 8.45pm booking on a Saturday. Again when it came to dessert we asked for a break around 9.45ish and was told “that’s fine but just to let you know the kitchen closes soon” I’m pretty sure the kitchen should stay open till the last table has ordered dessert. I’m general the staff just seemed like they couldn’t be arsed and wanted to be at home. When we did order our dessert it came within 2 minutes and the ice cream on the chocolate volcano was already melted all over the plate as if it had been sat there, again just felt lazy and very basic. The Long Island ice tea just tasted like coke and sugar, the espresso martinis was nice though! The venue and atmosphere was nice, but no candles on table and we was on a table that rocked back and forth and at 10.45ish when we was finishing our drinks they deliberately turned the lights right up very bright to obviously get us to leave along with another table next to us who was rushed through there meal even faster than us! For a Saturday night, felt pretty ridiculous. Service charge already on the bill which would not bother me at all usually as we always always tip, and well but in the case it was a bit of a joke, overall would not return.

We reserved a table at Alberts for 7 people and guaranteed this with credit card. We arrived and dined on lovely food in a nice atmosphere. Later in the evening we received an email from their booking system - "Open Table", to say that we had not turned up and we were to be charged a £70 no show fee. Open Table were advised that by return that this was incorrect. We returned to Alberts the following morning to discuss this with them. The Duty Manager was very defensive and unhelpful. She just said that they had not updated the booking on the computer on our arrival and that we now needed to get in touch with Head Office to obtain a refund. We emailed Eve at H/O reservations straight away. Two days later I spoke to Eve at Head Office who had not actioned anything, indeed it took her a long time to find our email in her inbox. Once found she spoke to her manager who approved the refund which could take a further 5 days to reach my account. Alberts is a beautiful venue with lovely food & drink. They fail on their Management and systems. This could have been resolved so easily by the venue with an apology and instant refund but their systems would not allow this to happen. There are plenty of other good places to eat & drink in Didsbury. We will not be returning to Alberts

We went for a meal here yesterday. The service was good, however, the food was distinctly average and overpriced. What concerned us more was that, without our knowledge or consent, they automatically added a 10% tip to our bill. The waitress brought a payment machine to our table, and printed the bill out after we had paid. It was only then that we discovered the additional charge. Nowhere on their menus do they warn customers of this policy, before they place an order. Upon raising the issue with our waiter after payment had been taken, we were advised that the additional 10% tip was purely discretionary, however, he failed to offer to refund the charge, despite our protestations. To fail to be open and transparent with consumers regarding a purportedly discretionary additional charging policy, and then to simply take the unauthorized payment without consent, is both disgraceful and unlawful. We left our telephone number for the manager to call us back, however, he failed to have the common courtesy to do so. I think we will need to report this matter to Trading Standards.

A lovely restaurant I have been to many times for lunch, brunch, dinner and Sunday lunch. Never been disappointed. Food is lovely and well presented. It has a lovely atmosphere and staff are great. One of my regular haunts. It has a super outside area which is surrounded by glass and has very efficient heaters so it's lovely to sit outside even when the weather is bad

This is only my personal preference others may appreciate the food and atmosphere here. I would say 5 stars for effort but I didn't enjoy it, we were a large party of around 20 and we had a set menu we could choose from 3 options on each course. I did try every dish and did not enjoy the squid the rabbit or the coconut cheesecake, neither did my friends I did send 3 cheese cakes back but was not offered any substitute. My brother also had to wait till we had finished are mains, Before he got his. I'm not sure if they do table service but we has to go to the bar for drinks and there was at least a 15 minute wait each time. Wich was not very practicle.

Both me and partner ordered Rabbit Gnocchi which was very tasty, I took 2 pieces of little bones off my mouth before luckily swallowed, same with my partner. When waitress came to collect the plates, I wanted to point out there was bones in the food, but she must have thought I wanted to make complaint. Next thing, another person turned up asking what's wrong with the dish. Even though I tried saying it could be dangerous having bones, she acted like it was normal. Also she must have thought I was trying to get the starters knocked off the bill, her response was ''you'll find bones occasionally, but you found it tasty didn't you?", no apology whatsoever! I could have ordered it for a little child, there's no alert to notify anywhere on their menu either. Very poor! Food was good, all it takes to apologise, which ruined our experience

Had a very disappointing visit to Alberts in Didsbury today. I booked a table for lunch with my manager and I requested a large table as it would be a working lunch. On arrival the restaurant was almost empty and we were shown to a very small table for 2 we asked the lady seating us if we could have a larger table but we were told all the tables were booked. This was hard to accept as it was 1pm and there were too many empty tables however we took our table and asked if we could be in a quiet part of the restaurant. The waitress immediately filled the table next to us with a party celebrating loudly. When we left the 3/4 of the restaurant was still empty but we had to cope with sitting near a loud table and on a small table where we couldn’t put note pads out. Needless to say I will be giving this mean spirited place a miss next time!

I always considerd this place somewhere nice to go, but I ended up having a very disappointing experience. Firstly the place didn't feel very well maintained, around the Air-conditioning vents was black with dirt. The food came out very fast, which was suspicious and the quality was also not great. I ordered croquettes to start, £9 for a single soggy croquet, very disappointed. I was happy to pay £9 for a starter but what arrived was not good value at all for the quality. The main course arrived as soon as we put the starter cutlery down, this was better but not that memorial. As we had been rushed through out first two courses we didn't want desert but then spent 20 mins trying to get the bill. Then came time to pay, and I was shocked a place like this didn't accept American Express. Overall not a great experience

Had lunch with three friends. Main course was good. Waited 3/4 of an hour having waved the menu to attract staff to take our dessert and coffee order. When a waitress arrived we said how long we had waited. There was no apology just "we are busy". I have been in the past when the restaurant has been full but service not a problem. Today only half full. Our coffees arrived but no sign of dessert. We asked for the bill and cancelled desert. Still no apology. Certainly will not be recommending this restaurant.

Fur coat and not knickers!!! Lovely stylist restaurant, same food didn’t match the beautiful decor! Went with friends for lunch, ordered set lunch menu, very basic food, a friend had steak with fries, presentation was terrible, no dressing or salad, bland food!! She ordered a side salad which consisted of one and a half small tomatoes a couple of onions sliced and 5 lettuce leaves, I would of been embarrassed to present that to anyone, she commented to the waiter - no offer of a complimentary drink to compensate for the meal, desserts are nice as long as you have an appetite of a baby! I don’t think that going for a meal option designed by them on price should mean that you get a meal that is more for a pauper. Won’t be returning-

We were looking for a place to have lunch after our appointment at spire hospital, so we decided to stop at Albert's as we were driving by. What a beautiful place, they could accommodate us for lunch even if the restaurant was busy. Nice decorations and big sitting area outside. The service was perfect, out waiting was very nice and professional. We had the bruschetta and the gnocchi, very yummy, I would have been happier with a bigger portion. Pizza and fish and ships for our mains. To be honest, its been a while since I didn't have such a good fish and chips, was really impressed. They even had me more impressed with a vegan ice cream as my son is allergic to the lactose. Thanx a lot for looking after us, definitely recommand and be back after my next appointment at the hospital.

A beautiful restaurant very badly managed. Food amazing Waiting staff amazing Door host helpful Sadly they forgot to check us in! ! Resulting in a £70 charge on our credit card due to a no show. Management dealt with the incontinence and the frustration very poorly and incredibly unprofessional. Luckily lots of other lovely restaurants in didsbury A table near by were very drunk and loud Resulting sadly in our evening being spoilt Would have been nice if management had dealt with the party or even apologised to us! Luckily lots of other restaurants in didsbury. Management really needs to be addressed here

Okay! So lovely staff, the server Carlos is just gorgeous! Food however is a little on the average side for a higher end place. Like everything is okay, but nothing is that special or blows your mind flavour wise. Had a duck salad and felt as though it needed more duck as well. But a perfect place to come if someone in your party needs wheelchair access and lovely ambiance with the fairy lights!

We went as a party of 6 for an evening meal in one of the booths on a Friday night, having been several times over the years. Our starters were great, the wine was good - we had the Gavi - but the mains were disappointing and a bit of a mess: We ordered three pizzas, all of which had the mozzarella replaced with cheddar cheese; nobody advised us this would happen at the point of ordering, the food being served or at any point after - it was only when we queried with the kitchen that it became clear. The dishes were removed from the bill and staff handled it well, once told by the kitchen, but had we known, we’d have ordered and enjoyed three dishes with their intended ingredients.

Absolutely loved the starter, I had Rabbit gnocchi...melts in the mouth and very filling. The main dish, I had stuffed chicken with cream sauce potatoes and green peas. Quite tasty and good and filling. The dessert was chocolate volcano...I did not like that the chocolate cake was hot so I didn't eat it had only the ice cream. The mock tail was lovely too. Lovely meal and place. Would definitely revisit and recommend. Lovely staff too. Good value for 30£ food.

I had a lovely lunch with these two old friends. As you can see fabulous weather, so ee sat outside. We had a lovely young Irish waitress, who was very friendly, she looked after us very well. We chose off the lunchtime menu, which was 2 courses for £14.99. There was a goid selection, and we all went for pizza. Lots of choice with those, too. Deserts were delicious. So we all had a really nice afternoon. We have been before. But yes, a lovely place to eat, great food and service. And all for a very good price. What more could 3 old gals want on a Thursday afternoon ? Many thanks, we will return.

Just had a fantastic family meal. I asked the bar man for a recommendation for a cocktail and he chose well, mango rum punch. The food was amazing the prawn cocktail was the best I've ever had. The steak was cooked just right and was well rested before plating. I thought the children's menu was fantastic, my daughter I had to mains but had one as a starter. She said it was fantastic she chose calamari and pizza. The DJ In the background was also playing brilliant tunes. The staff were all brilliant from the 2 staff greeting on the door to the waiting on staff all very professional. My niece had chose here to celebrate her 18th and was not disappointed so thank you Albert's. Photo of my sister's sea bream

I booked Alberts for a meal to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. There was 24 in our party and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. The staff were great and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious with empty plates all round, including the kids plates. We all had 3 courses and for the quality of the food I have to say it was very good value. We were in the restaurant for a good 3.5 hours and not once did we feel rushed. In fact quite the opposite. Most importantly my daughter had a great time and enjoyed the whole experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alberts.

Had lunch here on Bank Holiday Sunday and was impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. There was a live band playing which set a great atmosphere! It's got its own car park on site which is massively convenient espically with kids and its located only a 5 mins drive from the M60. Service was brill throughout, very professional and friendly. Food was of good portion and high quality, even our toddler ate all her fish and chips. Their local lager has a fragrance and dry fizz to it like an IPA which I also liked. I'll be back and would definitely recommend it.

Food was good, starters rather small. It's the service that let's the experience down. Manager on reception not interested, host walked us to the table in silence, dropped menus down and walked off. Lady looking after us was good but lack of attention to details. No one asked us if we want another drink, had to stop another waiter. Check back rather robotic. Managers walking around not interested in their customers. Whilst nothing was wrong, it was ok visit. Was it s value for money? Probably not.

First time eating here, went for friends birthday. Staff lovely and the place has a lovely feel to it. Busy even on a Thursday. Would have liked mushrooms with steak, which was cooked well hence 4 stars, but basically steak and a few chips. I don't like steak with sauce if cooked right sauce not needed, got a little jug with some in, was not asked if I want sauce and I did not ask for it, so glad it was not all over steak. Would recommend and definitely go again. Hard to find somewhere that cooks steak well. We all had steak and all were cooked as requested and not chewy or tough. Clearly a good chef here.

  • Richard Avery

Went for a nice meal here with family and had a pleasant time. The menu was great but execution perhaps not quite what it could be. I had a pear and goats cheese salad as a starter that was very nice. For a main I had a Goan spiced Sea Bream. This was very tasty with a nice fruity, spicy sauce. I didn't feel the chat bomb added a lot to the meal and would have rather had a single flatbread rather than the two tiny ones which felt a little dry. One of the party had the slow roasted pulled beef and roasted hispi cabbage with truffle oil. The beef was good but the cabbage was not at all crispy and a bit oily.

  • Andria Kennedy

We went on our Christmas meal £35 ahead not including drinks . Menu sounded great unfortunately the herbs crusted fillet steak medallion were some small pieces of overcooked beef .no crust in site . Parmesan potatoes were a, few flecks of cheese on chips . No blue cheese bon bon in site either. No seasoning on the green beans . The treacle tart was nice but there was literally a drop of muscarpone cream . Don't believe the hype.

We arrived today as part of a group. We all had the set menu, and most chose steak as their main. One of the steaks came out, with a long ginger hair, underneath the steak, and overhanging the plate. There were apologies, but no reduction was offered as a gesture of goodwill. Also I don't know what the chunky chips were about, but everyone said the same, that they were too hard. I don't think we will be rushing back in a hurry.

Shocked and saddened by the shear disregard to the local community! Firstly the blatant advertising of its spectacular firework display and cringeworthy music until 3am. But the main reason for my review is the fact the advertised display was on a commercial level within houses and apartments where poor little animals and babies are living amongst it! I will be reporting this to the local authorities and will make it my goal this doesn’t happen again. shame on you for attending in support of this.

We went there on one Friday night, very busy as you can imagine but the staff were quite friendly and efficient. lovely atmosphere and great staff. the food was nice but all slightly off: - the rabbit and creamy mushroom gnocchi was too salty - the miso scallops were very bland which is very surprising as miso is meant to be a strong flavour - the chips were TERRIBLE (see photo) they were so overdone and rock hard however the waiter rectified this immediately and brought us fresh chips. overall a good experience as its a nice atmosphere and staff are so friendly. I would recommend the dauphinoise potatoes and not the chips!

Modern bistro restaurant with lovely ambience. Staff were very friendly on arrival. We had the set 2 course menu mid afternoon. Only one slight critism, despite it not being very busy we felt a bit abandoned, staff did not come back and check if everything was ok between courses and it took us ages to catch a waiters eye to ask for the bill when we finished. Otherwise a pleasant place to eat.

We like Albert's and arranged our Christmas party here. We were disappointed with the food. The soup was nice but the Christmas dinner was overcooked and cold. They did offer to reheat but we thought that would have probably made it worse. We did mention the problems and they explained it was because they were really busy. The steak was good. If you go avoid the pre-order menu as it was a waste of money. The service team are great and the drinks are nice.

Great venue for date night. The spacious restaurant combines a cocktail bar, outdoor covered seating (with heaters) and a swanky atmosphere. The menu includes gastropub classics and pizzas, all tasty. The chicken is beautifully cooked and the cocktails expertly mixed. Staff are polite and helpful in the choices. The chocolate volcano cake was the only disappointment (extremely chocolaty but it didn't taste fresh). This is a great venue none the less, though it is reflected in the price.

Third time coming here and I must admit I was not impressed. The food was lovely, there was no issue for me. (My friend however, found a hair under her pizza). I was disappointed with the service. It took way too long to order our food and then to get a card machine to pay. I don't feel like I would come again as the last two experiences we had were great.

Staff excellent from start to finish. Would be 5 star but the sirloin was just warm and a couple of battered Fish scraps on the side!... no idea where they came from! More attention to detail in the kitchen please. Was in company so didn't want to complicate matters as others had started eating. Didn't spoil the evening but the meal did let it down.

The service was friendly and fast the meal was really good ....the atmosphere was very noisy because the restaurant was very busy ...as someone with hearing problems it was impossible for me to have a conversation with my partner we had to leave as soon as we had our meal.... shame really as I'm sure we would go back but when it's not so busy ....

Lovely Restaurant, great ambience with great music. You have to make reservations way in advance because Albert's usually packed weekends. The Prawn Linguine was delicious, very generous number of fresh prawns. I would highly recommend this. The beef roast on the other hand had two "extra thin" slices that could have just been one slice. It was a tad too salty as well. The Sticky Toffee pudding was divine!!!! Never had one so good. Free parking on weekends.

We booked a table for 7 people for my son's 21st birthday. Food was great. The place looks fantastic inside. But the main plus point was the service. Especially a waitress named Ally. She couldn't do enough for us and even brought a complimentary slice of birthday cake for our son at the end. Nice touch. Highly recommended.

When we arrived the first thing that caught my attention was the DJ. It was a nice surprise to see that the restaurant put in extra effort and paying for a DJ to play nice background music! The design of the place is fantastic and it is also very clean! Food: super tasty! Service: average, but the manager apologised for that. It does seem like it is important for them to give the best service! I would go back and I recommend to visit!

  • Leonard Dumitru

Disappointed. Party of 8, lots of different meals tried but no wow. They also forgot about one of our mains. Agree this can happen but the main point is, the staff did not even notice. One member of staff should be responsible for checking everybody was served. Well, you are not getting that level of service at this restaurant.

An excellent example of how to do a decent lunch service. Staff were super friendly and nice. Opted for the Bruschetta followed by the Lamb Ragu Rigatoni. Portion sizes were great and the Ragu was welcomed on such a cold day outside. Second time coming here and we will definitely be coming back.

I usually love Sunday lunch at Albert's but today was certainly below parr. The roast beef dinner is usually served pink as described by todays waitress. I took my granddaughter to celebrate getting a new job. Both dinners had quite obviously been reheated in a microwave, the beef was fatty and well done, the roast were hard. Not your usual standard Albert's.

Went for a late lunch and catch up with friends. Even a mid-week afternoon just after the festive season it was a buzzing vibrant atmosphere. We chose from the specials menu 2 course option. Food was excellent and the service in line with this. Had a good craic with the staff. Got to go back for the smoked haddock risotto which was superb.

Great place to spend a sat evening. Tasty food - especially the pizzas! Great selection of beers. and also non-alcoholic drinks too. It did use to have dj's on a weekend at one time and it was a much better place for it. But even without - its still one of the best places for drinks and food in Didsbury / South Manchester

Service is the best part of Alberts so let’s start with that. The food is generally good, but unremarkable, drink are good but expensive and although expected, my experience wasn’t worth the cost personally. The ambience, food, service does however bode above average so still worth an experience though so I recommend this place Enjoy if you do go

  • Alessandra Messeder

Very nice, cozy and fancy environment. Good service, nice and polite staff. Very few vegan options. I ordered the Artichoke & Truffle Ravioli, very interesting dish, but it was tasteless (needed salt) and very small (only 5 pieces). Dessert (some kind of dark chocolate and orange tart) was good. Wine menu doesn’t specify the vegan options.

  • Kawaii Kitten

Service was fantastic the cocktail menu is excellent I recommend the rum punch. The fillet steak medallions with dauphinoise potatoes were delicious look out for the chunk of blue cheese in the dish it compliments it perfectly and the cheese board was just divine plenty of chutney and crackers Albert's is truly worth a few more visits.

I recently visited Albert's in Didsbury for my anniversary and the place was nicely decorated and full of people despite of being a Wednesday! Great atmosphere, lovely homemade food with great taste from local market! Our waiter Michael was absolutely amazing and made our dinner a very pleasant one. We will definitely be back.

  • Raj Kaur

The food is home cooked, hot and tastes really nice. Been here a few times now, I would recommend the chicken thigh with root veg/ dalphasie potatoes with cheese and chive sauce (that’s if the menus not changed) and I do love there Sunday roast with red whine sauce. Little bit pricey but the food is good so you can’t complain.

We love Albert's Didsbury. The food is delicious. We go very often, and it's always consistent (both food and service). Their cocktails are great as well. The place itself is very nice, great decor, and has a big outdoor area.

A really lovely place! The decor is lovely and the Christmas decorations make it extra cozy. It’s classic but not old fashioned. The staff are all really lovely and can’t do enough to help you! The food is really lovely, and while a little expensive is fairly reasonably priced. They also have a really nice vegan menu!

  • Valerie Beaumont

Went for an early dinner with my best friend this evening at Albert's. The service was fantastic and Jason was a superb host. The two course special for £12.50 is exceptional value for money and as a variety of delicious mouthwatering meals. Already planning my next visit with my girlfriends for their Christmas menu.

My first time visiting Albert's and I will definitely be visiting again! Such beautiful and classy decor inside and out. Food was lovely and the staff all so friendly and very efficient. They even helped me when came to my baby's milk. Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough. Looking to my next visit soon ♥️

Went for a Sunday roast and was not disappointed. All the food was delicious, service was amazing and the decore was very nice. Only slight downside is that the tables are packed very closely together and it felt a bit cramp, but that didn't distract from the great meal we had there.

Top notch service in light of Covid 19. All servers were wearing faceshields. Polite and prompt with the food despite how busy it was. I was reassured that I could see that facemasks being worn correctly as the food was prepared. As for the food..... DELICIOUS!
