I contacted Aletta Shaw as they seemed like a nice local solicitors firm and once I phoned them my expectations seemed correct. I needed to speak to someone about buying a commercial lease and after speaking to the Efe who deals with them I was confident that they were the right firm for me as they seemed quite knowledgeable and helpful. I needed to get a search from the Land Registry and It appeared that I was unable to get what I needed from the Land Registry website. Efe offered to buy this on my behalf for £24. The following week I phoned and paid for this fee and I assumed it would be a pretty straight forward procedure to obtain the information I needed. However pretty much after this I was left disappointed with the service. Every time I called to chase, Efe was not available, then when I did get hold of ger she informed me that another colleague was now dealing with it. Emilia eventually emailed me the documents however it did not have the information I needed and was not the correct document. I did email back and try to contact Efe but to no avail. Emilia did eventually contact me back and basically said they were doing me a favour and that I hadn't formally instructed them and if I needed more information I needed to pay more and formally instruct them. Which may be the case, however I made it very clear what I needed and therefor they should have either quoted me more or taken the hit and provided me what I asked for. The attitude was not impressive at all. I asked for Efe to call me back, which she did and her attitude was pretty much the same. At the end of the day, I was very specific in what I needed, they did not deliver this, were difficult to contact and then made excuses and made out I was unreasonable! Also I want to mention, it took just one call to the Land Registry to find the information I needed for free! And to think they made me feel like I was asking the world of them and that I was being unreasonable!

I recently seeked the help of Samir at Aletta Shaw, after finding myself potentially facing prosecution for fare evasion. Travelling on the day of a major sporting event, the platforms and trains were packed full of people. I arrived on the platform running late and thought I would be able to purchase a ticket on the train. Due to the volume of people on the train, there was no such opportunity. On arrival at my destination I seeked a way to pay for my travel. Several members of staff pointed me in the direction to purchase a ticket. On arrival, I found myself (along with loads others) being questioning by multiple train staff and transport investigator staff on why I had travelled without a ticket and that I had committed 'fraud'. In despair I had a panic attack; I always had full intention of paying for my travel. In a moment of panic I answered a question incorrectly, stating the wrong station I had travelled from. They conducted a report on me and told me they would be in contact, informing me I could be facing prosecution. A few months and several sleepless nights later I received a letter to provide an opportunity to mitigate the case, if the information was not correct. At this point I contacted Samir. Throughout the case, Samir was reassuring and helpful. He was open and honest about my chances and set my expectations well. Samir responded directly to TIL on my behalf and thankfully my case was dropped on agreement of paying administrative charges. I could not be more grateful. I would personally like to echo the review of John Lambert, this Law firm was not helpful after given a substantial amount of money to draft me a letter for my ticket evading offence I was left to actually write the body of this letter. I also gave a lot of hard evidence where I feel half of this was not even presented. The solicitor wrote his own letter but to no avail, I still had a pending court case and if anything the communication was pretty poor after a few e-mails only then would I gain a response. The solicitor only was interested in payment really and kept on reminding me of representation at court if needed instead of assuring me that he can actually put forward a case with positive results. I would not recommend these solicitors as you would be wasting your hard earned money. My solicitor was Samir Moftah, I cannot comment on other solicitors there but this was the solicitor who was dealing with my case from start to finish. Samir failed to actually represent me nor did he give me any real legal advice which I could of sought to find myself. I feel really let down by Samir with the extortionate amount of money charged for a letter you would feel it would have some weighting. There are other solicitors who charge a fraction of the price and it was my mistake to even feel Samir would understand the situation I was in all he really cares about was the money I gave him at the start of this process. Conclusion: was not helpful just left me out of pocket. Go to a better solicitor who will give you more value for your money, I read the same reviews about this solicitor before I asked for their services hoping they will do a great job...I was wrong.

Earlier this year I was threatened with prosecution by TfL after in my haste I inadvertently forgot to tap my debit card immediately on boarding one of the new ‘multi-entrance’ routemaster buses. The fact that it was an honest mistake or that there was technically no loss of revenue to TfL as in line with their ‘hopper fare’, this was my second journey within a 1 hour window and I had already paid £1.50 on the first bus I boarded that morning, made no difference. From the tone of TfL’s letter to me, I realised that they were not planning to take this issue lightly and their threat of prosecution was very real – particularly in view of their strict policy which maintains accidents/mistakes are not a valid defence. Realising that my response would make all the difference between maintaining a clean criminal record and almost overnight, being unfairly branded a criminal, risk losing my job, family stability plus a range of opportunities a criminal conviction would prevent me from accessing, I followed my instinct and sought legal advice. I approached Aletta Shaw and was helped by Samir Motfah. After an initial Skype consultation, subsequent letter and follow-up correspondence to TfL, not to mention the agonising wait, I have finally received notification from TfL that there will be no legal action taken against me. To be honest, although it was costly, it was money well spent as I firmly believe I would not have got the result without Samir’s legal advice and experience in these matters. I would definitely recommend Aletta Shaw to anyone else in my position.

I contacted Aleta Shaw Bexleyheath last week for some legal advice. After multiple phone calls and left messages I finally managed to speak to someone. After providing basic details it became clear that Aletta Shaw did not want to help as they continued to say they were to busy without even getting a full understanding of the complaint. I just wanted initial legal advice what I was happy to pay for but the lady kept trying to put off making an appointment. I then requested that I would like to book an appointment with the senior solicitor of the practice only to be informed that she was to busy and as she was on holiday she could take no further business on. I said I was happy to wait until she came less busy. I sent an email requesting an appointment when she returned from holiday. Once again this company didn’t have the courtesy to reply. After leaving it another four days I called the company again and left a message. Once again no call back. When I did finally speak to the senior solicitor she refused a meeting before she had even heard what the case was and then could not explain her reasons why. All in all a totally shocking experience from this company and I would not recommend them to anyone. Incredibly poor service and a total lack of common courtesy. I have given them one star only to be able to post this review but in my opinion they are not even worth that.

I was dismayed one morning when my step-daughter phoned to tell me that she had been stopped for using my Freedom Pass. Dismay turned to anger but after a few days I thought that she had made a stupid mistake and she would just have to pay the fine when it came. I was stopped for using a freedom pass in February and my life has been in disarray since then but I am writing this to give you hope to trust this firm if you have a TFL fare evasion case. Appallingly slow service, Nearly two years since my Uncle passed and still a simple estate with no contests or queries. Still unresolved. I did not hire them, was hired by the trustee. As a beneficiary Im now being fobbed off and I believe I have been given false "advice". I was basically told you are not our client go away stop asking for this to be resolved. Apparently it is illegal for me to contact the tax office regarding my Uncle's estate. If I had the option of 0 stars I'd give it. I can see that they are only responding to positive reviews. Unhappy! Would not recommend to anyone. Seemed more interested in my money than providing a good service. Spent half my consultation taking about charges and tried to charge me for more time HALF WAY THROUGH the consultation! They were quick to prepare documents but I did not find the work completed to a satisfactory standard. They weren't great on the details. Won't go into too much here as it was a personal matter but I would not use them again or recommend them.

I would not recommend. I was not informed of restrictive covenants on the property I purchased. They also took 4 months instead of the 6 weeks they promised to complete. I'm still waiting for my questions about the covenants to be answered 3.5 months after asking them. I've sent follow up emails but I am being ignored.
