City park
"Texas sized public park"
"We love coming out to this great place"
"Huge Park, very nice and peaceful"
"It was a very hot day"
"I've been coming to this park for years now, and it's always well maintained and the trees give cover to the sun when its blazing in the sky"
Texas sized public park. Tons of places for picnic, grilling ,walking&biking, sports, fishing, boat launch. Family friendly, except when parking lot next to the lake fills with noisy, modified cars and trucks (not often and when it happens the sheriff is present). Park is well maintained, clean and secure - sheriff's office is onsite. Deducted one star because the rental bikes have been closed for about a year now. Bike Share was a good addition to this city park.
Playground
Probably 6 or 7 playgrounds spread around the park, in shadow and close to restrooms and pavilions.
Restrooms
They are clean and accessible. Precinct one does a good job in maintaining all the city parks, including amenities.
Dog-friendliness
There is a doggy park, actually two one for large size dogs one for small size. There are facilities for very hot days, like ones and places to give your dog a shower after a good run/play with other dogs. Benches and places for disposing then doggy bags , as well as enough trees and trails are available. Size is ... Texas size, probably 5 acres total.
Picnic area
Plenty, with cover (pavilions) or directly on the grass. Parking is easy too. Family oriented - birthdays and gatherings of all sizes People are generally considerate to the neighbours (in the park) and in keeping the grounds clen and not too noisy. Park closed at dusk, people usually come around 9-10 am (lege groups) and spend all day. On holidays the park is packed, to the tune of 5-600 people spread around.
We love coming out to this great place. Plenty of parking, plenty of playground, bike trail, duck seeing, and most importantly, peacocks! I have never seen one up close until I came here. It's amazing, beautiful, gentle creatures. Their was an all white one, one of the times when we went. There are plenty of picnic tables. The restroom area is pretty clean with toilet paper, lol. Some parks don't have restrooms on site or even someone to check the park, but here I see workers driving around and picking up trash, checking the restroom. The cops are patrolling. Very nice peaceful place to go. You can rent the pavilions for parties. They have electricity for music and lights, moonjumps, etc. My kids enjoy going here. They also have BBQ pits. Just bring stuff to clean the tables and pits because the birds poop and the leafs and dirt get on them.
Playground
There are plenty of playgrounds. Like 8 or more throughout the park. I am not sure, but they have a lot of sets, and most of them, you will find picnic tables nearby. Some for bigger kids, and some for toddlers.
Restrooms
Very clean restrooms with toilet paper. And I usually see the maintenance workers checking them.
Picnic area
There are plenty of picnic tables, most of them are dirty because it's outdoors, but I take Clorox wipes and some tablecloths, and it's all good. Great place to BBQ, rent for parties, you can bring moonjumps with permission, I believe.
Huge Park, very nice and peaceful. Restrooms and outdoor exercise equipment onsite. Lake is relaxing, Ducks and Geese have an enclosed pond so they aren't ran over and so children don't run into the pond. Dog Park available. Sheriff on site. Can rent pavilion or use picnic tables and grills
Playground
Tons of areas where the kids can play or swing. There is sand at the swing sets just fyi
Restrooms
Usually pretty clean
Dog-friendliness
Dog Park available.... If you walk dog on trail then they must be leashed
Picnic area
Tables and grills available, you can also rent a pavilion
It was a very hot day. We had fans and a fairly good covering. However, trees would have helped greatly. The trees that were around us looked dead. We needed more natural shading. The bathrooms were not kept up very well. It felt like a sauna. More maintenance is needed.
Playground
There was not much of a play area where we were.
Restrooms
Needed cleaning and cooling. Needed toilet paper and water especially since the area we were in was reserved.
Picnic area
Nice large area but there need to be some way to cool the area down like file mature trees that have been well maintained.
I've been coming to this park for years now, and it's always well maintained and the trees give cover to the sun when its blazing in the sky. Today however was 71 degrees and the wind was just perfection. It wasnt chilly or warm. It was fresh as fresh can be. It was soothing, relaxing and refreshing to get out. Painting social distancing is a breeze with the space and overall grand size of the park. With access to the shore and a wild peacock coming to visit your bench every now and then l, it's just absolute bliss to be a Houstonian knowing we have sites as beautiful as this.
I live in the area very close to this park. It is a great recreational oasis for as close as it is to the city. It offers a great amount of playground areas for kids, walking trails, lots of pavillions to hang out or organize parties, plenty of parking space and it has one of the biggest and nicest dog parks in Houston, I’ve met people bringing their dogs here from all over Houston. The park offers a beautiful wide opening to Lake Houston. And above all, it feels safe. I would definitely recommend visiting it at least once.
I love it. This park is super organized and clean. It has kids parks everywhere. It has covered picnic tables and a lot of pavilions. Pavilions look very neat and big. You can do fishing, kayaking, and boating. So many options that you can do as a activity. It has wildlife too. We saw turtles, snakes and fish. Your kids will love it. If you go near to lake place is very nice and breeze is good. If you stay little inside of the park, it gets hot. Restrooms are okay. There are some peacocks around the place we were sitting.
Very nice trail to run or bike, trail is well maintained. Weekday mornings are very quiet and peaceful, perfect for a morning jog or just walk and enjoy some fresh air away from the traffic. There is an area with a few machines to do some light workouts and different exercises. Playgrounds are well kept and everyone should continue to keep this place nice and clean just as you find it. If you do not have a bike, you can rent one there, 30 mins time frames. Playground areas are covered and well kept.
There are loads of covered pavilions, and playground structures here. I actually like the fact that they have red barrels set up for dumping you hot coals in after you're finished barbecuing. There's also a big fenced in area to let your dogs run around with a bunch of things for them to play on as well. High police presence. I don't know if there were that many bad people here or not but I saw 3 of them pulling people over and 1 was at a pavilion with their lights on.
Nice place to have an affordable family event
Playground
Multiple big playgrounds
Restrooms
Multiple permanent and temporary restroom all over
Dog-friendliness
Dog friendly. Just please pick up after your pet.
Picnic area
Soooo many different areas to stretch out a blanket for an awesome picnic. Might want to bring ant spray to mark your territory, or they will let you know of their presence lol
Super safe with police department in park. Everything is closed for kids playgrounds and water fountains . Huge sections to make parties are also close because of covid-19 . So take plenty of drinks spead out picnic tables are available some in shade also barbecue pits available. The reason why I put 5 stars is bc we could bike ride all around park safely and we enjoyed the beautiful lake! Also felt good knowing they are taking virus seriously.
Wanted to come to this park to see Lake Houston. The lake didn't look the best but the sound of waves was soothing. There are lots of picnic tables near the lake and in other green areas. There is also a pond with lots of turtles and ducks, too. As for the parking, there are plenty of spaces but I think signs and lines are not clear (for first timers) and the private road was very bumpy everywhere.
The park in its self & the amenities were great. The large pavilion & kitchen/serving area was great. However, the staff that was supposed to be available to open the gate to get to the pavilion was not there. We had to ride around and locate someone to come unlock the gate. They did not supply trash Bags as promised for us to clean up.
Restrooms
The bathroom facilities were not 100% clean.
For boating- Lots of parking and it's convenient to have 2 drops. Several docks are available for people to get on and off the boat easily. The road to the main drop is circular and pretty narrow. For the park- This is a huge park so lots of playgrounds and covered picnic areas. Dog park is also nice. The large size of this place forces you to have to drive if you are visiting several areas.
Great for fishing. Boasting Lake Houston. Walking/ jogging trails. Lots of tables for picnics. You can rent a pavilion for the day for gatherings. Very well kept. Open from 6 am to 9 pm. It's just really relaxing and beautiful. I saw so many different kinds of birds!
Restrooms
Well lit and clean. Always toilet paper there.
Dog-friendliness
See people with dogs there every time
We went for the first time yesterday. Took the two labs we are watching to the Dog Park. Large area great for running there is a concrete path with trash cans and 2 water fountains. Also there arelots of benchs for seating. There is also a bone pool and a dog washing area. The dogs really seem to love the cancel with water and mud. Everyone seems really nice here also.
I like it, and it’s an amazing place to go have a picnic there with your significant other or anyone in general. The playgrounds are absolutely amazing, I took my 4 year old niece here and she absolutely love it. It’s a big park but the signs also help give you a sign or direction. I 100 percent recommend. It’s clean, fun, big, and a space for you to take your dogs.
I have been to this park on several occasions mostly for parties. The park has many pavilions they are numbered and I saw numbers as high as 16 but there may be more. And lake access the views can be very nice if the weather is right. Great place to unwind or celebrate with friends.
Playground
Lots of play ground areas all over the park
Great family park for biking, fishing, picnics or taking a stroll along the trails. This is just a short walk or bike ride from my front door so I’ve frequented several times. I only wish that some people would pick up their trash by the fishing/boating docks. My boys love to come fishing here. The squirrels are also cute and friendly
Too bad there's not an official swimming area. Slow down, the roads are bumpy and if you go at peek times then its full of pedestrians. Thanks to the prisoners for keeping it clean! Cops and game wardens on patrol. Great place to ride a bike, go for a walk or have a grill out! Bring your boat! Great for all ages and pets!~♡
Nice place to launch a boat. It was getting busy and a bit crowed when we were leaving around 1pm Saturday (we launched at sunrise) and there were a handful of folks on jetski and other water rec stuff. We were there to fish and explore since it was our first visit here. Lots of wildlife to see. We will definitely return!
I love getting a quick vike ride in here during the weekdays (the weekends can be a little hectic). This park is usually quiet and pretty empty early in the mornings or later in the evenings which makes it a great time to go for a bike ride or run without any interruptions. The scenery and lake are nice as well.
The park surprisingly looks unkept. I don't know what the plan is for the damaged areas that are gated off, but it use to be really nice out there. The grass is halfway cut, the bushes and trees around the little pond have not been maintained at all. I was actually disappointed it looks so unloved.
It's an absolutely relaxing and peaceful place. You can carry your boat or Jet ski there. Also, you May walk or fish, or make a picnic. There is a big pavillion which allow you a beautiful view of the bay. There are bathrooms and water fountains but you must bring your foods. All is for free
Great place for outdoor family gatherings. The picturesque view of Lake Houston adds to the feel of getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life. My only complaint is that the public restrooms are filthy. Other than that I would highly suggest going especially if you have kids.
Nice park. Very pleasant and helpful employees. Took my 91yo Dad on a picnic and he had a wonderful time. We were there, maybe an hour and a half and saw many birds, including waterfowl and even an eagle. Saw a family of raccoons and a couple of bull frogs. Very ADA accessible.
Very nice and large park. Plenty of kids playgrounds and a dog park. The lake is huge and they have huge Pavillions to rent at a cheap rate. Also the Sheriff's Office patrols the park. The sheriff has a office there and a Deputy is always around.
Super fun!!!! Great place to take the boat out. Free parking, and a wide range of grills and gazebos on a first come basis. Bring lots of mosquito repellent, sun screen, sun glasses, cooler to stay hydrated, and lawn chairs. Benches are
Hidden gem I am from the blue ridge mountains and this place reminds me of a lake I grew up near there clean quiet you can bring your boat a great place for drone flying also great place to bring the fur babies I will return
Beautiful park with lots of potential, but no maintenance upkeep, years of built up grime on the pavilions. There needs to be a plan to power wash at least once or twice a year. The residents deserve a clean park. Thank you!
Such a beautiful park. I love that there's so many different play structures for the kids, lots of pavilions with tables, two boat ramps and a duck pond!!! Sometimes there's even peacocks hanging around!!! …
Always had a good time here miss the Buffalo's they had back then or I just haven't seen them. Fishing is always good patience is key. Tournament is going on right now for bass . Get out there and enjoy safely.
What a beautiful view of the lake, it almost makes it seem like you’re no longer in Houston! Plenty of picnic tables available for guests and a convenient boat ramp as well. Will definitely visit again!
Nice place to have a reunion, birthday party or any large gatherings . My family have our reunions there but sometimes their outlets do not work and they shut everything down around 7pm. …
Awesome place for a birthday or family gathering! There's lots of space under the enormous pavillion and a convenient bbq pit. Our daughter had a wonder birthday party despite the weather change.
First time going to a park near Lake Houston after multiple trips. It is a huge area with many pavilions that can be reserved. Definitely a nice green space amongst the suburban sprawl.
This was our first time experiencing the park. It's very large and has multiple Pavilions for recreational use. It was well cared for and the weather was nice enough to have a good day!
Love this park. Had a great day with the family. Walked the dogs and enjoyed the sun.
Playground
Clean and plenty of them.
Restrooms
These are clean when I have gone.
Great park for kids ❤️ they have shaded playgrounds and restrooms near play area . Always peaceful I go about 3 times a month during the week days and it’s never over crowded.
Great park for family events and boating. The dock is located in the back by the senior area. There is plenty of playing area for kids of all ages. Dog park is also available.
The park is good. Plenty of parking. Boat ramp. The lake is huge. Restrooms available at the park. Well maintained. Had opportunity to watch sunrise from the park.
Really nice area...several Pavillions spaced out so you're not on top of the party next to you. The water view adds to the appeal. Over all very nice, clean park
I was just banned from entry to the dog park! There is a two dog maximum! The guy FINALLY cleaning the dog pool after a nearly one month. Told me to leave! Nice!
We always enjoy ourselves here I been coming here for over 40 years my parents would bring my sisters and I every weekend and birthday...so I lots of memories ❤
The pavilian was clean and nice. BBQ grill and table was accomodating. Didn't know there was running water and ac outlets. Will bring electric fan next time.
Eastside Bengals showed much love to their players and family.

We had our company picnic there, great place. The weather was very pleasant. We saw two peacocks and they were beautiful. My grandson's had a great time.
So much fun playing volleyball at this park! Great picnic areas and nearby restrooms. The playgrounds are even covered to helping with the blazing sun.
Enjoyed seeing the Peacock and ducks. Bathroom was ok. Just a little disappointed couldn't go on house on water had locked gate but otherwise enjo
Big and spacious!!! Plenty of activities and easy access to the water. Enjoyed a car meet recently. Very friendly people and nice cars.
Very open.. they have a doggie swimming pool 6 in deep so dogs like to play in the water... You can wash your dog there for free.
Wonderful place for a picnic enjoyed family friends. The day was hot, but we had a covered area, so we may the best of it. More
Beautiful lake and super spacious. Didn't catch anything but still worth strolling around, you can also run into some peacocks!
