Upon hearing that Alfredo and his family were finally getting settled into their new location, I called up my friends and immediately planned a roadtrip. In the pouring rain, I traversed 3.5 hours on the chaos that is I-35 just for a chance to have another pizza and scoop of gelato lovingly handmade by Alfredo (and son). "With a pandemic and rain outside, however did you enjoy such a delicious meal?" you may ask. I packed a folding table and chairs into my car to set up on an empty level of the parking garage this fine establishment is so conveniently located in. Yes, that's how good it is. Alfredo's new space features a convenient, stream-lined area where you can order your pizza and desserts. With his fancy pizza oven (he promised us it wasn't alien, but it seems too advanced to be from Earth), you only have a couple minutes to decide what delicious gelato flavors you want to complete your dining experience before your pizza comes out with a perfect crust and perfectly cooked toppings - seriously, that pizza oven has separate cooking temperatures for both sides so it comes out perfect every time. For this trip, I treated myself to the strawberry fields and milk & cookies gelato. Two delightful flavors that I will dream of until I can return again! His new space also features a convenient walk-up window that is perfect in this pandemic and will be a great addition when it's safe for people to return to San Antonio's nightlife. I'd venture to say this is one of the best food options around the Majestic Theater. Best of all, I was so happy to see the kindhearted Alfredo again. When you buy food from Alfredo, you are supporting a man who has so much pride in the art that he serves you. He will remember your face if you keep coming back - and trust me, you will want to keep coming back! I have since moved away from San Antonio, but I will always make sure to stop by when I pass through town again. Long live Alfredo's Gelato & Pizzeria!
Beware if you have children on stroller. Found this place and walked from the Alamo thinking the walk on the heat will be worth it after reading great reviews..... As soon as we went in, me, my mom, my 2 toddlers on a stroller and my husband; my husband had to go back to the car real quick but we were hungry and ready to order. We were exhausted and it was super hot outside. I was going to wait for my husband to be back to order. People in front of me placed their order. A new burn cheese pizza came out to be sold by slices (I was gonna order that for my kids but I guess not).... Then the girl behind the counter asked me "ls there anything I can help you with?" I said, "not yet thanks, I'm waiting on my husband " She replied with a nasty "well your stroller is blocking my handicap access so I need you to move " So if I'm not ready to order I have to park my children outside in the sun on a 103 degree afternoon? We are sitting in the only table inside, no one is attempting to walk in that entrance except us on wheels and you want me to move along? Well I guess I can go find food somewhere else. As soon as my husband arrived I told him we can go hungry somewhere else. Children in strollers are not welcome here.

As a visitor from Philly with my wife and children, I know what rude looks like and I experienced here. My day in San Antonio was amazing and the people were inviting until this place. When my wife came into order, there was no line but the woman behind the counter took her time to wait on my wife. The pizza was SUBPAR!! I even went inside to order a soda with ice and when the woman behind the counter told me that she didn't have any ice (PECULIAR especially in over 100 DEGREES), I said "Que lastima" which means what a shame in Spanish. The woman behind the counter, seemed caught off guard, and said what did you say and I explained to her that I said what's a shame in Spanish. I proceeded to ask her if she understood Spanish and what her ethnicity was and she described herself as Hispanic. Most Hispanics are usually quick to acknowledge specifically where they are from but not this person! And then I asked her if she understood Spanish and sarcastically she said when I feel like it! ♂️ Well at that moment, I knew it was time for me to LEAVE and never return the next time I visit San Antonio!

Hole in the wall pizza place downtown. The pizza is genuinely so good and even has great leftover value. I didn't try any gelato but their tiramisu was also really good. To get a pizza, dessert, and drinks, the cost can be a little much though, considering it's more of a casual atmosphere. It IS downtown though so it's not surprising. Because it's a small hole in the wall place, space is limited if you wanted to actually stop and eat there, but sitting at one of the small tables outside when the weather is nice was pretty enjoyable.

Right above and around the restaurant is a major parking garage. I wanna say the cost is $10 usually but I highly recommend coming on a Tuesday because parking is free.
My boyfriend and I are here on vacation and wanted some late night pizza. Not only was the place incredibly hard and stressful to get into, there's not a designated pickup spot so you have to stand in line for 30 minutes for them to finally call out pickup orders. When I went up to get my pickup order they hadn't even started yet and one of the items I ordered they didn't even sell anymore. There was nowhere for me to stand and wait inside and much less outside with the busy two way sidewalk. When we got home the pizza wasn't even warm and the cheese wasn't all the way melted. The chocolate cake and tiramisu were devine. If you go, get dessert delivered.

Fantastic, atmosphere was great for a city street pizza shop it felt welcoming and comforting. Outside seating vibe was beautiful on this particular day so I got to enjoy my drink with my pepperoni slices. THE HOMEMADE RANCH is incredible. This might officially be top 5 pizzas for me and I’ve had pizza all over the world. Went back later in the evening for some gelato in a waffle cone. Got the bubblegum flavor. Caught by surprise it actually had bubble gum pieces in it which was great for burst of flavor although I regularly spit out the gum as I want in the mood for chewing gum. 10/10 great place even recognized me when I came back in!

absolutely amazing pizza and gelato! homemade and super quick (we got our perfect pizza in under 15 minutes). would definitely recommend their margherita pizza (vegetarian). it was delicious! also got to try their spanish chocolate gelato, which was amazing. my absolute favorite gelato flavor was the strawberry basil! such a fun and unique experience - plus alfredo grows his own basil for it! we came for the food, but stayed for the hospitality. will definitely get food from here again. added bonus: procedures in place to make us feel safer during covid times. masks on at all times, clear barriers between the food and the customers. they do take-out , or you can call ahead and pick up your order!
Pizza was Delicious and so was the cake! No doubt, delicious and very fluffy! The girl at the register was very nice. Ready-to-go Gelato, cheesecake, cakes, as well as some drinks (fountain and canned/bottled). Didn't see any hand sanitizer spots, and the trash can was dangerously full on the inside. Unfortunately, this was SOOOOOOOO slow to recieve an order and the slices of pizza were insanely small. Only 1 pizza maker to produce pizza orders, on several occasions the employees turned away orders due to a high flow of "grub hub" and pending walk in orders. $5.99 for 1 slice & 20oz drink OR $9.99 FOR 2 Slices & drink.. tbh just order a FULL sized pizza for a few dollars more.
I saw mixed reviews for this place and wanted to believe the good, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me. I ordered a pizza supreme and brought it to my hotel. The dough was raw, but the crust was burnt. I couldn't eat it. A waste of $20. It's a cute little hole in the wall and by the look of the reviews it's a hit of miss. I would recommend mentioning they pay attention to the cook if you do order pizza here. It was a miss for me... BTW, that's not cheese in the pics, that's dough.

This place should be in the 4.5 and above mark! The guys behind the counter were very friendly and courteous. The pizza was very easy to eat, too easy, like good chips and salsa. We ended up ordering a couple and finishing off with ice cream and cannoli's. This is a small place with very limited area to eat. I look forward to another slice!

I don’t typically leave lackluster reviews. I imagine they have some good things there. Having said that, the place is called Alfredo’s Gelato and caffe. I went in and tried to order a scoop of vanilla bean gelato with a shot of espresso on top. They said “we don’t have gelato!” It’s in YOUR NAME! It’s on the sign! So I gave up on that an asked for an iced coffee. “We don’t have ice!” It’s Texas. It was 105. 112 with heat index. You don’t have ice? Hot coffee when it’s 105 outside, no gelato and your name is Alfredo’s GELATO?!? W tee Eff!

Found this place, after finding out our old pizza places closed. The service was very nice. The we’re going to get just a slice of pizza and he recommended we ordering a fresh new pizza, for a better price and it was very good. The only downside is that there’s only a few small tables outside and that you would really order here for takeout. But the food was really good. Would go here again and try their desserts.

First and last time coming here, guy making pizza didn’t wash his hands not even once, he reached his bag, grabbed medication, placed it on counter, took off his hat, fixed his hair, and lastly he took our pizza out. He didn’t wash his hands during this whole process. We get the pizza and it’s still doughy, quality not worth the $20 for pizza. Yes I ate it, not bc we liked it but bc we were hungry.

The older dark haired woman behind the counter is super rude. She got upset about giving us three more spoons when we had four desserts and six people; she only gave us three spoons. Then she charged my 80 year old mother for another drink when their cheap tea bag broke in her water. She didn’t even smile or say sorry or offer any options other than being rude. She yelled at us and said, “She broke it.” Customer service here is lacking badly. It is such a sad thing in Texas where most of us are friendly. Avoid this place!

Wanted to try this place for a while now and probably could had waited much longer to try it. Got a slice that was 'reheated' and half the slice was luke warm and room temperature cold. The sauce was interesting but not bad but especially not good either. The cheese was average and nothing remarkable about it but the only thing they got right was the crust and dough. Crispy and slightly well done that could had been better complimented with better tasting cheese and sauce.

Last week, my family passed by Alfredo's going to and from Hard Rock Cafe from the Houston Street Garage. On our way back to the garage, Jennifer recognized Dad from the SA Restaurant Facebook page and greeted us. We were already full and didn't stop by then. Today, we went to Paesano's Riverwalk and made room for ice cream. We stopped on our way back to the garage and got a scoop of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. We missed Jennifer this time but Leslie took care of us.

This place was very good, it takes a little but when they are busy because they cook 1 pizza at a time, I had the pepperoni pizza , cheesecake (so creamy), and birthday cake ice cream (tasted just like a frosted cupcake with ice cream). Everything was very good. The pizza is cooked in a stone over style. I would eat here again.

I spent $43.00 for a 14s inch build your own pizza that was burnt and ash tasting and came without 4 of the items ordered left off the pizza. The only thing that was right on the order was the cannoli. I don't mind paying for extras but I do get upset when you are charged for something you don't get and what you do get your unable to eat. My advise is that everyone needs to stay away from Alfredo's Gelato Pizza Cannoli & Caffe. And when I say stay away, I mean as far away as they can get!!!!!!!!!!!
I ordered a Pepperoni pizza for lunch at the opening but it seemed like a frozen pizza you can get from Costco that wasn't warmed up/baked very well. The crust was a little burnt but the cheese was not fully melted. Don't know how that's possible unless it had been sitting awhile and I picked up the pizza within 20 minutes of ordering. While the person working behind the counter was very nice I will not be going back. There are other options downtown that may cost more but taste way better.
Had pizza and ice cream. The margarita pizza was good. I thought they were personal pizzas but they are 12 inches so we had left over pizza. My three pizzas were made in front of me with fresh ingredients and baked in less than 30 minutes. I was very happy with my dinner. The dough was thick (i prefer thin and toasty) and fluffy. It was also very cheesy. Will visit again but will ask for extra crispy. The owner is from Ireland and he was very friendly and courteous.
Hands down the best pizza in San Antonio. The cheese they use is amazing! Seriously, I've gotten so many coworkers and friends addicted to these pizzas. Tiramisu is also delicious. Gelato is decent. I go for the pizza. Lol Prices are average for downtown.

i have worked downtown as a carriage driver and boat captain for years and alfredo’s has always been my go to spot for a quick bite. they actually sell pizza by the slice and offer a downtown worker discount. they’re always super quick and i can tell you, as someone who’s worked down here for years, the majority of the bad reviews alfredo’s has are from tourists who have nothing else better to do than complain about nonsense.
Pizza was literally burnt. The crust and pepperonis alike. Can’t say about taste as I was not going to eat burnt pizza. In addition our delivery was late. If you are staying on the river walk I suggest finding a better place for a pizza or else you’ll just end up tossing it in the trash.

Right so, first thing you need to know: They don’t serve gelato. I know what you’re thinking- why would they have gelato in their name if they don’t serve gelato. They serve ice cream and it was okay. But ice cream is not gelato. Strongly suggest you change your name to Alfredo’s ice creamo Sincerely, Gelatoless

Tim and Jennifer are absolute treasures and their food is phenomenal. We celebrated our wedding anniversary this weekend and popped in multiple times for pizza, gelato, and a slice of cake. They made great casual conversation while we waited for our food and took the time to learn a little about us. This place is great for a quick bite or someone with a sweet tooth.

Alfredo's was a quick, extremely enjoyable experience. I was able to get my pizza made up in around 5 minutes and be on my way. Most importantly is by far the desert. The gelato and tiramisu were heavenly on a hot day. Between huge portions and 10/10 taste makes it the perfect place to stop for delicious food but not at Riverwalk prices.
Employee was very kind and helpful. Ordered the supreme meat pizza and it was delicious. They had cold beers to go along with it. A great option for lunch as it was right in the middle of all the hotels. If your visiting San Antonio, definitely give it a try.

We ate here on one of our dinners & were very pleased with the pizza. Fresh ingredients & cooked in less than 15 minutes. We had the Margherita pizza & the only thing we’d change is to put extra marinara on it, but there was plenty of cheese (which we love)! Victor was very nice & served us well. We will definitely be back!
Apparently I should have tried the pizza by the reviews here. Unfortunately I ordered a waffle cone with cookies and cream ice cream. The big waffle cone comes with 2 scoops of ice cream. The cone was good. Unfortunately the ice cream had little taste. Definitely not worth $5.50. The lady working the counter was nice.
We are visiting from NY.... And Brandon made us feel so welcome... He gave great servo he...was extremely friendly..and the Pizza was even better. The locals eat it after dipping it into a home made ranch sauce..we tried it...upon Brandon's advice....and we loved it! Great place ..great food....and great prices!

Bad choice for a "brick oven" style pizza thats actually cooked in a semi industrial TurboChef toaster oven. $16 on what feels like oven baked pizza from the frozen section of any grocery store. Sad. Kiddos did not eat it. And definitely not large 14"

We never eat inside the store but we have gone in to order a few times. The staff is friendly enough. It is a small indoor area right in view of the sun plus all the ovens on so it stays hot inside. Food is always great.

$17 for a "large" pizza that is about a foot long in diameter. The dough tasted doughy/raw for lack of better word. The pepperoni and cheese were good, sauce was okay.
