Fantastic little record store with an amazing stock of great records and a friendly and helpful owner. If you're looking to dig through countless discount crates of junk with hopes of finding a rare gem, this is not the store for you. The store is full of rare gems and first pressings in excellent condition, and while you won't be able to pull a garage sale heist of scoring a Beatles' butcher cover for $10, the prices are reasonable given the excellent quality of the records. And if they don't have what you're looking for in stock, Alison can probably find it for you. This is the perfect shop for the seasoned collector who is tired of searching store after store for those difficult-to-find albums to round out your collection or for someone new to vinyl wondering where to start. However, those looking to build up their collections by purchasing a large quantity of poor quality records are likely to be disappointed (though there are a few bins with records for $5 or less). But if there are a few records that you have been searching for to no avail or if you have been struggling to find a certain album in good condition, pay a visit to Alison's. You will probably find what you're looking for and more.

We had been shopping for a new turntable and decided to go here bc we were not thrilled at the electronics store options and we aren't very knowlegeable about them so I thought she could help, and let me tell you I was right.they have a brand they !recommended and her husband actually SET IT UP BEFORE WE LEFT!this was a very big deal bc I sure couldn't do it.we took it home and it sounds AMAZING!!everything we could have hoped for in that range.i literally can't turn it off it sounds so amazing we are thrilled with the choice we made going there!!thank you so much! Im editing this review as well after reading some of the negative reviews on here an feel compelled to come to her defense, nothing I've seen in that store is overpriced.not at all.the majority of the albums I noticed were between 20 to 40 dollars, but they are ORIGINALS.now of course there are those that are special that are going to be expensive as any record collector would know.the knocks offs on amazon and walmart are at least 25 and don't sound the same.

I 've lived in "music city " for 6 years and was pretty let down by the amount of physical media available. It was either jacked up too much, specialized in only their product (sorry Jack White ) so I was stoked to find Alison's not only 5 minutes from home but compared to internet and record outlets the prices are more than reasonable. I wish she had more visibility from Charlotte Pike. Also next door is a nice audio equipment store that sales both new and used so if you're just getting into the vinyl thing this is my recommendation. Not to mention the staff is extememly helpful. So get up and go check it out!

At first I thought the prices were a little high on a few of the albums I wanted, But after buying them online and getting one that was a counterfeit (yes, someone is still producing counterfeit vinyl) and another that was graded way off (it was graded at a vg+ more like a g) i feel completely stupid for not paying the little extra from this great locally owned business. I have bought a few things from this establishment, the grading on the albums are spot on. Everything I could ask for. Thank you guys for being super helpful and friendly. Y'all are Music Experts.

Wow. What a fun and amazing collection! A whole wall of original Beatles albums, fantastic jazz and classical LPs, and some really sweet 80s and 90s alt rock/ indie records. I've been to a handful of record stores around Nashville and Alison's was by far the most interesting. I'm going back the next time I have a few hours to kill. It's a small shop but a dense collection. Alison herself was very friendly and helpful. If you're record shopping in Nashville definitely drop by.

Expensive and I rarely agree with their record grading. I think they grade far too liberally, I've seen records with lots of surface scratches and marks graded as Very Good or even NM in some cases. They do have a really good selection though and I've found some amazing stuff, so if you're willing to sift through stuff and come back on a regular basis, you will find good deals.

  • Colton Adams

Super expensive for no reason; you can find most of these records online for cheaper, but while you’re in town it would be cool and more convenient to buy them at a store; unfortunately, they’re marked up ridiculously high, definitely ripping people off, and while they have great selection, it’s not worth breaking your bank, I wouldn’t recommend...

  • Austin Alexander

Alison's Record Shop is a hidden gem! It ain't cheap, but as others have mentioned, her grading is spot on, and it is not often you get to peruse a record store which has a BUNCH of killer vinyl, and every damn record has a post-it note on it.... Pretty impressive! She knows what she's got for sure. Can't recommend it highly enough!

  • Mark Kaiser

Lovely record store with an excellent selection of desirable vinyls. That being said, you'll probably not be crate digging for bargain bin deals here. The store is well curated, and the prices reflect that. This is still a great place to check-out, especially if you're looking for a good quality record to fill out a collection.

  • Jones Rustiver

Great collection but insanely overpriced. Great for millennials looking to get ripped off who don't understand vinyl market value. Never seen anything like this. This is more like a record museum than a store; great titles to thumb through but not for shopping. Any review that would suggest otherwise seems highly suspect.

I absolutely love Alison's Record Shop. I came down from Northern Illinois to visit family and look for some great records. Alison is very organized, very helpful (thank you Alison) and the prices are very fair and reasonable. Now I have an excuse to visit family more often....just kidding, but Alison is great …

  • Ashleigh Lygon

This vinyl shop is worth a road trip. They had an excellent selection and the prices are decent. Nirvana was at the door to greet me and I felt as though I won the lottery. They also have crates if free vinyl that you might find something you didn't realize you needed in your collection and its FREE!

  • Waldo Carrera

Absolutely amazing quality of vinyl. The owners are not only knowledgeable, but are great researchists and can find practically anything you are looking for. And if you have need of a turntable and some great listening speakers, ask about those as well. You won't be disappointed.

  • John Alan

Amazing, carefully curated collection at extremely fair prices for high quality vinyl. Alison the proprietor is smart, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Was impressed that albums have sticky notes on them explaining the grading of the vinyl and other useful info.

  • Michael Howe

Astonishingly comprehensive collection of vinyl, including multiple copies of first pressings and imports, mostly in VG+ or better condition. Super friendly, helpful, knowledgable owners--by far the best record shop in Nashville, and possibly in the Southeast.

  • Some Dude

Pricing is pretty weird, with a lot of stuff being egregiously overpriced, but the quality of selection is probably the best in the state for used records, particularly if you're looking for classic rock, basic prog classics, and classic metal.

  • Michael Tressler (flinchbot)

Small record shop but with a really high quality used vinyl selection. I found about 5 really clean copies of some records. And by clean I don't just mean the vinyl. The covers were in very good + shape. Looking forward to returning soon.

  • Jeff Cordell (Cordell7)

Alison's Record Shop offers a great selection, easy access off I40, helpfull staff (Alison), record grading is spot on, prices are reasonable for what you get, no gimmicks, great vintage vinyl. Nashville has a Festive Little Record Store.

  • Allen Driggers

Just has a great atmosphere: jazz records turning and chill staff that lets you browse. Vinyl collection has any rare thing you can think of. Also good bargain price vinyl for those starting out. Also has cool events that are also chill

This was an amazing gem! The collection is AMAZING. So much variety and high quality selections. Plus, the vibe was nice too. Ended up walking away with 4 new records— 1 rare Led Zeppelin find. Will definitely be back again and again!

  • Amanda Williams

Alison is such a sweet and trendy lady and so is her Record Shop. I brought my family there after a day at the mall for a record convention. Her selection was just a good as the convention and great prices to boot. What a lucky find.

  • Thomas Price

Awesome record store! Last two times I’ve been there found records I’d been looking for at a good price. Owner even dug thru a bunch of boxes and found one record id been looking for a while! Great place great customer service!

  • Senses Savy

Visited from OHIO. What a great place. Records are rated fairly, and mostly better than I've seen at any other used record shops. Nice selection of harder to find records, too. Plus, Alison was very helpful. Will visit, again.

  • william sanders

Spin time in an awesome record shop. Spin some money too, 'cause they have lots of collectable records and thrift finds. Hard not to find something you want. The staff is also extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.

  • William Dennler

This is a gem. I did not know it was there and I am so happy that I found it. What a great selection of very good used records. I was really impressed by the selections and the customer service. This is a great place!!

  • Kirby

Extremely overpriced, she has used records marked up at $55-$70 that you can get at any other record shop for $20 tops, no coupons or deals worth going in for. Great selection of records, just way way overpriced

  • Margaret O'Neal

David was super knowledgeable and helpful. There's a huge varied inventory and each record has a note about it's condition and other interesting factoids. Rediscovered a lot if music from my youth!

  • Enrique De Jesus

I have been twice to this record store, and I always find a record and fall in love with the diverse record collection. I will always come here when I can to get some good ol' records! Thank you!

  • Kerri R.

Excellent collection of records here. Lots of hard to find items all in great shape. The notes on the condition and tidbits of info written in each plastic sleeve is seriously so appreciated!

  • Randall Weaver

Outstanding selection of classic rock, psych, progressive rock and lots of jazz. Records are accurately graded. Lots to look through including 45's and dollar bin. Thanks Allison!

  • Emily Inman

Such a cool place! Great selection. Tons of original release albums. Really reasonable prices. Several reviews said prices were high- this is not true. Check this little gem out!

  • Kelly Johnson

A bit pricy and when I went in and the staff was a bit cold to my brother and me. it was a cool shop-- much smaller than you'd expect. I might try again as everyone has off days.

  • Tim Mathews

I found plenty of gems, all graded for condition, and saw some good finds in the bargain bins. To top it off, I got my new cartridge installed and aligned on my turntable.

  • Andy Spore

Fantastic place to find pristine original pressings. It'll cost you, but if you're into that sorta thing, best place in Nashville by a country mile.

  • Story Cox

Super helpful service, either Manager or owner, I'm not sure. Everything was in manageable order and well condition. Good local place to support

  • Shawn Warrick

Seriously the best record shop I've found. Tons and tons of vintage and bargin bins. All the classics you could ever want. Well worth the trip.

  • Doug Carr

Great selection 60 70s and 80s rock and roll vinyl. The owner is friendly knowledgeable and I could hang out at that shop all afternoon.

  • Lexi Dawn

great store if you like throwback music so there was not much modern music, however great atmosphere and she gives you a punchcard.

  • devin pena

this is the best record store in Nashville hands down. If you're interested in rare original pressings? This is the place to go to.
