An overall great stay at the Alsace Hotel for a solo traveler! I would happily come back! Room was as clean as it gets, looked great (amazing bathrooms) and was of adequate size. Despite a check-in delayed by nearly 1 hour because the staff could not find my booking (an issue solved by Donald who was of great help, more on that later too), everything went well! The gym has everything you need (some surprising choices given the nightly room price, more on that later), the swimming pool is an absolute delight and sitting outside for breakfast in the outdoor space always hits. The neighborhood is lovely, a bunch of bus stops are around and the E line is a 15-minute walk. Definitely recommend eating at Mizlala or Vicky's All Day, both a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Now, as someone pointed out, there is a slight disconnect between the nightly rate and the value provided. The mattress is comfy, but not that comfy, the bike and rowing machine in the gym are not Peloton but sub-brands (sorry, Echelon), the breakfast consists of pastries (they're great, but the choice was rather limited and the lack of healthy food does not feel very LA), and the shower quickly runs out of hot water. Also, PLEASE remove the snacks from the in-room minibars. The healthiest option was a bag of Skinny Popcorn, and they were very expensive, even for in-room snacks... Also, the staff could not find my booking initially (paid with Preferred Hotels points), so we had to call Preferred Hotels, and the check-in was delayed for one hour. The Director of Operations, Donald, was very helpful throughout the process, and apologized by phone and at the gym afterwards. However, the fault was on the hotel, but I somehow had to provide my credit card for an authorization that covered a deposit BUT also a part of an additional booking, did not get any compensation for the inconvenience, and was not asked at checkout if everything went well or anything. I work in the luxury industry and probably have high-standards, but those small details can be dealbreakers...

I have edited my previous review, since the management has responded to my request and taken necessary action. Below is my initial review: First of all, I’m sorry for the 1 star review. Actually, my stay here was not bad, but the after service is very disappointing. When I checked in to the hotel, they told me that I would be charged an additional service charge and parking fee per day. In addition, they would automatically record my card to deposit $150 / room, since I booked 2 room, so my deposit is $300. When I checked out, I ensured that I would get my deposit back 3 days after checking out, yet it has been 1.5 month since my stay, and I still haven’t received the deposit. I have already emailed the hotel, and at first they responded nicely. They asked me to screenshot my bank statement to as a proof that it has been charged the deposit amount. I have provided what they want, but after this, they stop responding me. Since then, I have send them 3 follow up email, but still, they didn’t response. If the management see this review, I hope they help me to get my deposit back. You know that, $300 is not a small amount. Please help me to get my deposit back. I don’t know how to reach out to the management, other than giving review in google. This is my additional review: Since this review, the management has responded and contacted me via email, and although I have to explained again regarding my situation (which I have explained earlier with the staff), turns out they have taken the necessary actions, and I could get my deposit back (although it is indeed 3 months late) --> the hotel staff said max 7 working days. Nevertheless, I really appreciate it, although my stay in here is far for perfect, the management still have integrity.

I had a great stay here! The standout is all of the staff, especially front desk staff who were fun to talk to and gave some great recommendations in the neighbourhood. Room was sparkling clean, well-appointed, and very cute for both a staycation or vacation. I was so happy when I entered the room after a somewhat stressful arrival. It didn’t feel too small for me but maybe it is for American standards. I’d say skip the overnight parking and find street parking on Sycamore or Alsace instead. It may not be a super trendy street teeming with hip restaurants but every meal in the neighbourhood was great and affordable. Bring cash for the Taco El Primo stand right outside. Try chilaquiles at Taqueria Anayas. Grab a donair at Mizlala’s. Yes, there are a few unhoused people nearby but no one will bother you, if you don’t want to see the effects of wealth inequality and broken systems then go stay at Disneyland. What would have made this a 5 star stay would be if I felt maybe 20% more value of the place, either from a lower price or more attention to details. You could feel the springs a bit through the mattress and so it felt a bit lower quality for what I expected at this price point was the biggest one for me. The free breakfast coffee was often burnt and the hot water tasted faintly like coffee from the carafe so they were just OK. The shower water pressure was so low that even at the hottest, much of the heat dissipates by the time it hits your body if you’re short (I’m 5’2). Overall, a great and cute option for a solo traveller who wants to land somewhere you can walk to your first meal of the day and a reasonable drive from most attractions in L.A.

My fiancé and I just spent two nights at Alsace and so thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. What a pleasant surprise to find such a beautifully appointed oasis in a very unassuming part of town. Only giving 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. Our room was not ready after check in time, however they kindly upgraded us to a lovely larger room with a beautiful patio, and secondly they haven’t yet mastered the art of opening the gate to the parking garage for self park, and valet was not always available. It is not an automatic gate and relies upon the desk person being near the camera to open it upon arrival, however they are doing so many things they were never nearby any times we came back and we had to call the front desk to have it opened each time for the 3 days we were there. We chalked both situations up to being a brand new hotel and working out some kinks still :) All in all, though, we so enjoyed our stay and the lovely touches of an in room Nespresso maker and fresh delicious pastries in the lobby, as their restaurant isn’t open yet. We have already recommended this place to many friends and can’t wait to stay there again!

The photos on their website are almost too aesthetically pleasing, because the hotel felt like a catfish — didn't live up to the photos on the website. But the hotel was still very clean and visually appealing. The staff was friendly — especially the 2 gentlemen at the front desk (on May 6 2023). The bed was comfy. The morning coffee and donuts were convenient. But I wish they had savory foods for the morning (e.g., eggs). I did not like the snacks and drinks placed in the rooms because it felt intrusive, unhealthy, and expensive. I recommend walking to the grocery store beside the hotel for snacks and drinks. The drinks in the fridge also took up space, so if you had personal goods to place in the fridge, you have to empty the fridge first. The parking lot was conveniently located underground and felt safe — but I wish the $30/night parking was cheaper.

Overall, the stay at this hotel was disappointing. Please know that you will be charged a resort fee upon check in. Which we knew when we booked the hotel, but what we didn’t know is that the amenities are at such odd hours that we couldn’t enjoy much of what that fee covered, especially given the pool closes at 7:30pm instead of 10pm like a lot of hotels. Morning shower was lukewarm both days that we stayed at and the water just never got hot. Garage parking was honestly the worse. It is confusing as you have to wait for someone to run out and open the garage for you manually. But there’s no indication that someone from the lobby saw you waiting there. And you are just stuck waiting there being in the way. Walls are also thin so we can always hear the upstairs guests. Overall, for what we paid for, this was a very disappointing stay. The only thing this hotel has going for them is it’s aesthetically pleasing and location is good.

I’ve been to many hotels in my life, lets say this was the biggest scam in my life. For 670 dollars for 2 nights is the biggest scam! The rooms were literally less than 700 square foot and oh my god its very small. I am a very claustrophobic person and i feel in a graveyard. I should have chose a 5 star hotel for this price. I’m an honest person, and literally they tend to give you a small room really bad and the scam is they make you wanr a bigger room for 100 dollars + tax for a night. What is this? The gym is very small. I entered the hotel it was gated and looks like prison. However, the staff there is 1 staff in the hotel and they give you 2 bottles of water complimentary and that’s it, for 670 dollars! Everything else you have to pay. I’ve been scammed and this is the worst scam i’ve seen in my life, i cant wait to get out of this place as i have 1 day left! Listen to me its a scam and bad place, i dont even want to go back to my hotel, thats how bad it is and small! I cant even put my luggage correctly because its so small.

I stayed here a couple of nights with some friends. I really liked the courtyard area, particularly during the evening. It was a good spot to hang out with friends and just reminisce about the good old times. The staff were always attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I tried out the gym on my second day and I absolutely loved the rower with the interactive screen they have. I don't have any fancy gym equipment at home, so, this was kind of cool to try. The pool area is also very nice. I like the fact that it's very secluded, so it's a really great spot to spend an evening with family/friends. I absolutely want to come back just for the pool during the summer time and bring my kid. All in all, my stay was great. The staff made me feel at home and I will definitely keep coming back.

Had a great staycation here. We spent most of the time at the pool with a well curated playlist from the hotel (well done!). The rooms/bathrooms are perfectly designed. Nancy at guest reception was super nice and welcoming. We even got a complimentary late check out at 1pm so were able to enjoy the pool a tad bit more to escape the heat. Walking to food spots (Alta, Delicious, Miz La La and Mian) is super easy and just a block down. If willing to drive a couple minutes, Cento (our favorite restaurant in LA) and Los Anaya are just a mile down Adams. Can't wait for the restaurant to open at the hotel as the vibe/courtyard is already so great. Look forward to being back here for more mini vacays by the pool.

If you didn't know this hotel existed, you most likely wouldn't see it--very non-descript from the outside. But the chic interior more than makes up for the outside. Hotel staff is limited (just one person at the checkin desk), but it was enough and very friendly. The rooms are spacious, especially the bathroom, helped by the absence of a closet (there's an armoire). There was no carpeting in my room, so it was a bit harsh. There's no bar and no restaurant. A pool is tucked away in the back of the property. Oddly, during my two-day stay, the location was an Uber dead zone. If you are ok without a lot of amenities and want a hip place offering spacious rooms, this is a good choice.

I stayed here for one night with my family. The hotel itself is beautiful. Well designed, calming colors. The rooms are a nice size with large bathrooms. The bed was wonderful. Theres a nice courtyard at the hotel entry. I wish there were an onsite bar or restaurant, but I hear this is coming. The neighborhood seems to be transitional, but has some decent food options and felt safe walking around. The pool is nice.. I stayed here with my young (<1 y/o) kiddo, and everyone was so nice and accommodating. A pack and play was ready for us in the room. The staff was super nice. (Front desk Nancy - thank you). I'd definitely stay here again when in LA.

Stumbled upon Alsace when I saw they were opening in September. Would call it “discreet chic.” Serene and premium without any ostentatiousness. Beautiful design and architecture. Loved its beige and brass palette with soft pops of color. Staff is friendly and parking easy, with a gym and private pool. Two things to note: it’s in a sort of up-and-coming neighborhood of West Adams, in between Beverly Hills and Culver City. No room service yet, but several tasty restaurants - loved biking over to Mian and Mizlala. Hotel is DoorDash-friendly too. Would definitely recommend!

I loved my stay here! The neighborhood felt quiet and residential, and street parking was no problem (although they do have valet parking for an extra fee). Easy to get around the city from here. The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was super-comfy. The pastries in the morning were good (and if not to your liking, Tartine is very close by). Everyone was friendly and accommodating. My one complaint is that I wish the heated pool was a bit warmer. I’ll be back for sure!

Loved the stay and staff but I was charged $60 for a steamer they said I took from my room. I never saw a steamer, used a steamer or took a steamer but they're saying I did. So if you go, make sure you know what they expect to be in that room when you leave because I've never had anything like this happen in my life. They'll just charge your card and not even reach out. No bueno. I was recommending this spot but now I will have to go back to those I recommended. I feel poorly treated and feel like people need to be warned.

The Alsace is an amazing new addition to LA + the West Adams neighborhood while also conveniently located from LAX. The rooms are immaculately clean, and fresh with a staff to match. Where the hotel truly shines though is the urban oasis that is the Alsace courtyard. It’s truly an escape from the world around you. When you are ready to venture out though, the neighborhood is diverse and full of amazing food. I’ll be back soon. P.S. — Make sure you hit up the deli next door at Bodega R Ranch Market for an incredible lunch!

Overall it’s a nice stay. Cozy, clean, friendly staff, convenient parking. However, there were only two things I wish they were better. 1) the polyester sheets and covers were extremely rough to sleep on 2) the standing shower has a seat right above shower head which made it difficult to shower standing in a straight position. That seat definitely accommodates disable guests which is nice to have. I would work best if it could be folded or if it was located on the opposite side of the wall.

Trendy and comfortable with friendly staff. We LOVED the design. Our AC and night stand lights stopped working on the 2nd night, but the front desk quickly changed our rooms and was very gracious. Appreciated the donuts and coffee/tea in the morning. Also thought the WIFI was nice and strong (with 2 people using Zoom meetings at the same time). We didn't get to check out the heated pool, but that sounded like a nice touch. Will definitely stay here again!

Writing this from Alsace Hotel. it’s well past midnight and there is loud live music reverberating through the windows. We both work very early in the morning so we are extremely overwhelmed and annoyed. Front desk said it is out of their control since this is going on in the neighborhood behind us. We have stayed here a couple of times but it looks like front desk has no solution for us so this will be our last time staying here.

This hotel had an amazing contemporary but cozy wood design with a gate and great ambient outside patio. Staff was amazing and helpful, respectful, and genuinely looking for me to have a good time, particularly Nancy, who worked the front desk and resolved several credit card inquiries for me. Everything was clean, my stay was smooth and without issues. Would recommend this place to anyone.

This Hotel has the worst customer service. Lots of hidden charges and they can’t even explain the confusing invoice. Also they charge for parking that is not attended so if you need to get back in the garage good luck. Waited over 30 minutes 3 different occasions to get into the gate that the receptionist has to open. Also the neighbor is crawling with homeless people and not in a good neighborhood. One of the worst experiences at a hotel

  • Frankie Lee

This hotel has beautiful terrace to enjoy the moonshine with your beloved one Me and my love need terrace always and this hotel has well sized couch in the terrace… we enjoyed the night out and lazy Sunday. One thing is the noise from the outside corridor was super annoying that is the reason I put 4 stars. Other than that all the service rep were super kinda and the cleaning status was just perfect… definitely very well night out hotel.

Loved this little hotel, the location was convenient to the friends we were visiting in the area, the whole place seems to be recently renovated, great little gym and heated outdoor pool. A good little coffee bar with pastries in the am. And secured parking, in an underground parking garage. And Tartine bakery is close! Solid choice. Very friendly staff.

Beautiful designed hotel that was comfortable and just the right amount of cozy. Our room was small, so if you have a lot of luggage it might be tight, but that was totally okay with us. We couldn’t figure out how to get the bedside lights to work. Other than that, everything was perfect and we would be thrilled to stay here again. We were surprised how many cute restaurants were walkable in the area!

  • Dianna Hood

Upon late arrival, the hotel was gated and locked. Space was very clean and ladies at front desk were very nice. When checking our, paid the $52.08 for some resort tax and got my receipt. Upon arriving back home, on the same day I was charged $202.08. Have called and sent email. Getting the run around regarding this charge.

Super nice boutique hotel! Stayed here for about 3 days. Staff was super friendly, our room and general areas were immaculate as was their gym. It was nice that the bikes were available for use and the pool was tucked around the side for nice privacy. Overall it was very peaceful and quiet. We had a such a great time!! The morning coffee and pastries were a nice plus!

Alsace Hotel is a wonderful oasis in the West Adam’s neighborhood of LA. Remarkably clean, beautifully designed, and super friendly staff eager to help with anything you may need. The taco stand that sets up across the street next to the laundromat is a must - just say your order is “for here” and walk your plate of tacos back to the courtyard to enjoy.
