Lots of complaints here! First of all, when we entered the hotel, we were uncertain as to where the registration desk was. There was no sign, rather the desk that was there was situated in front of the restaurant, so one would assume that it was part of the restaurant where the host/hostess would show you to your table. A sign is definitely needed. Second, after a long day of travelling, I was looking forward to a nice cup of tea in my room. Well, there was no tea to be found. Not even a hint of tea! Just pods of coffee that were less than desirable. (Tasted terrible!) Good thing that I brought my own tea bags. (However, how was I to make tea? Well, I had to take a coffee pod, run six or seven cups of water through it until it ran clear. Then I could get a cup of hot water. (Note: The machine (not a Keurig) would not work until there was a special type of pod placed in it.) Oh, they also only provide two paper cups (one per person), so you are forced to reuse your cup a number of times with dried remnants on the bottom. There was also no microwave in the room, so I couldn't get hot water that way either! My next complaint is about the parking. Beware that the overnight parking is $30 a night. The parking should have been provided free of charge or a discount should have been given. With regard to food, again beware!....there is no room service available. Nor do they provide any brochures from nearby restaurant locations. This was very inconvenient. In the morning, do not look for any free breakfast! It doesn't exist. The only thing that I can say is that the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. However, you will feel as if you are in the depths of a dungeon as all the furnishings are black and gray. Except for the pic of the ceiling to floor red fox (which didn't fit in with the decor), the room reminded one of deathly pallor. Even the outside of the hotel is black.

The room we had was modern and clean looking. It was in a great location as well, but some things just did not go well. First, the bed was a rock. Do not go to this hotel if you have any history of back issues. Also, the floors in our room were very weird ... I'm not an expert, but it seems they have a subfloor that is very poorly installed. There were creaks and groans from all of the floor .... in the room and in the bathroom. Makes for an unpleasant experience if you had to move around while another person is sleeping. I did not thoroughly read the room amenities when I booked (so my bad), but these days you would think a hotel would have a small fridge (and possibly a microwave) and a room safe available. None of those is offered. In addition, while they advertise as pet friendly and we paid $30 extra, there was no form of acknowledgement in the reservation confirmation of the pet, so I had to call to confirm, and there was no "pet essentials" that they advertise on the website (e.g., we expected something like a bed, dog bowl, treat that we have gotten from other hotel chains). Finally, I had a discussion with the front desk manager (missed getting a name) about a billing question. He was not apologetic or empathetic to the issue discussed and just walked off after our discussion. This guy does not deserve to be a manager of any kind. Overall, I would give this hotel a FAIL and say DO NOT GO.

We've stayed here a number of times and found it to be consistently wonderful. Check in and out times are flexible, so it's very convenient for a staycation! The beds are super comfy, and the pillows are plush. Each room has a small refrigerator, along with the usual TV, desk and chair, and bedside clocks. The staff are courteous and professional every time. The mesh curtains provide privacy, and the blinds provide darkness although I still bring an eye shade because there's a 2" crack between the blinds. The rooms are super quiet. I can hear people talking faintly in the hall but nothing from the other rooms. One funny thing that's happened to me twice now is the bedside lamp turning on in the middle of the night. It's a wall switch like a phone screen (not a physical switch) so maybe I'm flinging my arm out in the night and my hand brushes it? Anyhow, if that will bother you, put something against the wall to block the switch.

We hosted our corporate retreat in Calgary this year, and worked with Alt to create a great experience for our guests. The service from their staff is unlike anything you've experienced, the team know your name, and the caliber of service is top notch. The rooms are beautiful, and considering the price exceed all expectations. We were most impressed by the meeting spaces on the second floor, and how well thought out it was. The windows and natural light are beautiful and really help keep people engaged and awake, even for early breakfasts. Alt hotel has connections with Char-bar and some other high end restaurants in the east village. As they are owned by the same parent company this made billing easy for our group - having everything billed back to the hotel on one invoice for payment. Ivan (Alt Sales Manager) is spectacular and went above and beyond to make our event work. We couldn't be happier, and would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who is in need of modern amenities at reasonable prices.

I have been a customer at Alt Hotel Calgary East Village for 3 years now and I have also stayed at their other Alt locations across Canada. The Calgary East Village location has been my go to for staycations when I need that getaway where I can easily walk to the river to a walk or to grab food at the Simmons Building across the street where you can grab coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff go above and beyond in their service and the rooms are top notch in their quality of amenities and cleanliness. This is the best hotel to stay in while visiting Calgary. You are a few minutes walk from major attractions that easily accessible by the c-train Free Fare zone and to many close by neighborhoods such as Inglewood and Bridgeland. East village in itself is quite and safe. I love booking a corner room on the 10th floor where you get a gorgeous view of either the riverside or the downtown skyscrapers. Alt is definitely home away from home.

After a long gruelling night in the airport of delayed and cancelled flights I phoned many hotels and the Alt hotel was the first hotel with vacancy - and I’m so glad they were! We were warmly greeted in the middle of the night and the gentleman was so patient and friendly. The room exceeded our expectations, it didn’t have a fridge but I found out later you can request one (we didn’t need one so we never fulfilled that). And due to flight changes they happily let us change our checkout with no extra fee given our circumstance. Lovely and very friendly staff, excellent warm and very comfortable rooms with a lot of toiletries (which we needed as ours were stuck in the airport in our suitcases) I will happily come visit this location as it was so pleasant, or any of there any locations in the future. Thank you for taking such great care of my partner and I!

Hip hotel located downtown Calgary near the Bow River. Great location for those travelling for work, with coffee shops and restos in the area, as well as a walking path along the river. 20 minute walk from the downtown core. Rooms were compact but clean and inviting with trendy decor. Decent desk space for working, hotel also has ample room on second floor for seating/working etc. bathroom was great and two shower heads a plus!

I can’t give 5 stars. The staff were wonderfully accommodating and the hotel is very clean. But the rooms are quite small, when we “ upgraded “ our room, it was exactly the same footprint but now included an extremely small bar fridge. We found the wifi incredibly slow so we didn’t use it. The room is very modern, with European styling . But,the shower door design is poor and leaks a fair bit of water. And the really cool electric blinds leave a 4” gap of sunlight at 5 am. The parking lot is a gravel lot across the street. The underground parking that is attached to the hotel is crazy expensive and the staff told us the underground parking wasn’t safe!

The location of this hotel is fantastic and it is very clean and aesthetically appealing. However, the blinds do not fit properly and light starts shining directly into your eyes at 5:30am, which is a bit of an annoyance and we found the pillows very flat. Both very small issues in the grand scheme of things and we enjoyed our stay overall - will just make sure to bring a sleeping mask and our own pillows if we come back for another stay. :) It is a bit pricey but I guess that is expected downtown Calgary.

Really impressed by our stay here! Design is so modern, service is warm and impeccable. Tyler, Rob and their manager were so gracious in helping us out at our arrival. Flexible checkout was much appreciated. They even offered umbrellas the day it was raining. The rooms are so high tech, with electric blinds and mood lights. Would just be nice to have a fridge, and the mattress springs seemed a bit used (room 518), but everything was fantastic. I travel a lot for work and this has been one of my best stays. Hope to come back and will try out the other Alt hotel locations. Underground parking was affordable and super convenient too. Didn’t get to try out the amenities cause of Covid so can’t comment on those.
We loved how modern and stylish our room was, we felt like we were staying in a fancy hotel with a cheaper cost. They even had blackout curtains, which we LOVED! We couldn’t use the underground parking with our truck as it had a height limit of 6’8 but there was free street parking (on weekends) and $4 parking lot right beside the hotel. I would say the only thing our room was missing was a fridge, and it would be cool if hotels started putting a Bluetooth speaker as a bonus amenity so us girls can set the vibe when we’re getting ready for a night out! Overall our stay was great and we will definitely be staying here again!

This is a high five to the staff and the management that made our visit a remarkable one! We went to Drumheller for a day and decided to hit the sack in Calgary. The team made a personalized welcome card with dinosaur toys for the kids. What a remarkable experience not just for me but for the kids as well! Thank you most especially to Sara❤️, for the warm welcome. The rest of the team is welcoming. The room is chic and modern. And the view is outstanding! We don't ever want to leave. Loud sound of metal popping all through the night from the vent on the cold nights. Woke me up several times. Don't stay here if it's cold. The walls are super thin. I could hear every word clearly from anyone in the hall. Parking is honestly ridiculous. I would've stayed elsewhere had I seen it was $30 a night. No microwave or safe in the room. The electronic light situation is garbage. Everything takes forever to register. And there's a book light that turns on every minute at least. Trying to sleep with a bright light flashing on and off was ridiculous.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel and rooms have a very clean, modern, European staff. The staff went above and beyond to help us. We had requested a high floor room which was accommodated. After arrival, we had asked if there was a fridge we could store some things in and they had a mini fridge brought up for our room. The underground parking is a fair price and would recommend taking advantage of it because it's so convenient. We will definitely be back any time we are in the Calgary area!

This place exceeded my expectations. The price of the room was well below what I would have expected to pay for a king size bed in a location so close to the downtown core. The room was compact and well laid out. I personally loved the touch panel for thermostat and light control that were placed through the room. The rainfall shower was fantastic! And don't get my started on the Canadian made down comforter and pillows! They had a couple of amenities on site that I did not use but if they were as great as the rest of the hotel well, I have no doubt that I would not have been disappointed.
It’s an ok hotel, nothing horrible but nothing special. As a result, I think it’s overpriced for what you get. The location is a double-edge sword because on the one hand you are close to lots of downtown things but, on the other hand, you are surrounded by homeless people and drug addiction. It felt unsafe later in the evening to be out. I wouldn’t book again unless I needed to be within a walking distance from something in the downtown core. Another thing - elevator is painfully slow, takes a very long time to get to your floor.

This place was really fantastic, but the room was pretty small. Functional, well equipped, clean, Nespresso, everything you need. However, there's little room to move other than functional moves. The drain in my shower drained very slowly as well, shorting any long showers. That's the only reason a four was scored on the room. Had there been two of us in there, I know the choices would have been bed, toilet or chair, but no moving around. I'm 6' about 200 lbs and athletic, but not a monster. Everything else, really nice

Really nice hotel! Always love staying at the Alt. We booked directly through the hotel and we’re gifted with some local honey which was a nice touch. Check in was easy and we were able to check in early. Room was beautiful with a nice view from the 10th floor. Loved casting Netflix to the TV before bed. Pool table in the lobby was cool. Only issues was the shower wasn’t draining properly but they fixed it right away. They also don’t have robes which was surprising. Overall great hotel, close to a nice coffee shop and easy to walk around. Will definitely stay again!
Place was alright. Not sure if we would go back. No parking was an issue, no kettle in rooms and tea was kept under lock and key at front desk, kettle in lobby was apparently someone’s?, bathroom ceiling leaked and no help was offered to help move belongings, weird room had a giant useless entryway almost bigger than the room itself. Not a bad place but they have things that should be corrected.

Definitely a gem of a hotel; chic’ & contemporary, located in the heart of East Village in Calgary. You really can’t beat the location, steps away from the river and a quick scooter ride into Inglewood. Rooms are clean and quaint, and the views of the city are amazing. Staff were nice and the hotel looks great. Unfortunately there was a lot of noise from the room heating system throughout the night. Maintenance came to fix it twice, but it was a little frustrating. A colleague had the same experience. Would avoid staying in room 316 for that reason (there’s also literally no view, but I was there for work so it didn’t matter). Parking is also $30 per day and you have to pay through the machine for the hotel rate every 24 hours. Would be nice to just pay once for a full week.
Great modern hotel with clean and well decorated rooms. The bed was super comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It's in a good location for exploring Calgary and within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to go. The only thing missing is a fridge but we were able to request one for the room. We enjoyed it so much that we came back again at the end of our road trip.

Beautifully designed hotel, with modern spaces, tasteful decoration, and space-efficient rooms. The beds, pillows and linen are very comfortable, and the Nespresso machine is a welcome touch. The only reason why I deducted one star was due to the lack of hot water in the shower, even at the highest temperature setting the water was lukewarm at best (and my stay was not during a cold spell, so heat loss shouldn't be the issue).

Hotel itself is absolutely a recommendation, nice staff, fairly sized rooms and a parking directly below. The only downside has nothing to do with the hotel itself; the eastern side of Calgary has quite some homeless people, due to the rehab/shelter in the area, this can make the walk back a bit uncomfortable although we were never bothered by any of them.
We spent two nights at this lovely hotel and would’ve loved to stay longer. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the bedrooms beautifully designed and the beds super comfy. We had great views of the river from our corner room and the hotel is just a short walk from Downtown in one direction and funky Inglewood in the other. Highly recommended.

Nice rooms, the one I had a river view. The room has touch panel to control the AC, blinds, lights. It had a table and a revolving chair to work. Staff is nice and helpful. Room has a coffee maker. There is no kitchen in the hotel however
Great value for money and an awesome location! Service was excellent as well. A few stars missing for their gym as it was very underwhelming and the rooms were small.

I entered the hotel in July, 2022 and was immediately asked for ID to prove my payment was legitimate from a young French speaking girl with brown or blond hair. I complied and let her know I am a customer of Le Germain, under the same
Very impressed with the Alt hotel in Calgarys east village. The deal price i booked under was much cheaper than any downtown hotel that was 4 star or better. Excellent location, staff was incredible, design is 5 star unique and clean,
very much enjoyed my stay. service was good. drinks were overpriced at front. they have lobby space first floor and 2nd floor for chilling. pool table and small gym as well. rooms were clean and modern albeit it being slightly small

If staying in this area, it's a good hotel with great bed, sheets, pillows. I like staying in modern boutique style hotels. The rooms here are very compact.. but i slept really well! That's all that matters, and clean. More
My husband and I stayed here for 3 weeks while visiting Calgary. The hotel is new and very clean. Service is kind and friendly. We had a corner room and it was good, I imagine the regular rooms are rather
What an incredible stay, the rooms are very cool and quite affordable. For the most part the service was incredible, and the location is great.

Always clean. Reasonably priced. Staff always polite and easy to deal with. Quick check ins and check outs. Underground parking is ideal especially during the winter months. 5/5
We were in Calgary for a Canucks game (and won!) so wanted to stay within walking distance of the Saddledome. It's totally doable and we had no safety concerns.
Modern, clean and friendly hotel, in a great location close to the Bow River and easily walkable to downtown and the more attractive Inglewood neighbourhood.
It is close to restaurants, good coffee and bakery, and parks. Our room was trendy and comfortable.

Rob is the best! He gave great information regarding the hotel and the city. It was so good we decided to extend our stay one more night, last minute
Our trip had some bumps, but the staff went above and beyond to make everything better and more comfortable. More
