I went to Alta West Auto because I had bad credit and they seemed like pretty decent, honest people. I was wrong. I was sold a 2010 Hyundai Elantra with about 145-145k KM on it, With a Car proof that was dated in December of the previous year (2014) and I bought the car about 4 months into 2015. I was told the car was in great shape, nothing was wrong and that at first my interest would be high ( which is to be expected with bad credit) but that in 6 months, I could get it lowered to about 7.5 %, which was great news. Here is what happened. 3 months into owning my car, I felt the transmission slip. At first I figured that maybe it was just cold or low on fluid. So I checked my fluid and it was black and had a burnt smell. ( Transmission fluid should be red and not smell burnt) At this time, I didn't have a lot of money nor did I have means of getting any to cover the cost of the transmission. I then remembered that I paid a little over 1500 for insurance that I was told covered my driveshaft including seals and gaskets. So I called my warranty company that they gave me, Global Warranty, and they told me to take it to "Quality Transmission" to get it fixed and they would cover it, so I did. Not only did that company put an old transmission in my car, but my warranty didn't cover most of the costs!! I ended up paying 400 out of my own pocket, for something that I was told would be covered! and to top that off, I was told at quality transmission that if I left the lot and something didn't work, it wasn't covered and I would have to go through my transmission company. Completely unacceptable. My Advice to you is, if you have bad credit or not and you want a car. If Alta west is your only option, take the bus.

NEVER AGAIN!!! We bought a used Ford Explorer in 2014. We were looking for a reliable 4x4 and were willing to pay more just to be sure that we would have a peace of mind at least for a while - that's what we told the salesman (I think his name was ceasar). He told us that the car does not have any issues and is what we are looking for. We, not knowing nothing about cars, took it to a few test drives and didn't recognize any issues. The shifting was a little rough, but this was our first automatic car, our first 4x4 and also our first car this size. As naive as we were, we believed the guy that the car is alright...assuming that the dealership would care about their reputation. Long story short - the transmission failed 6 months later, the coolant was leaking after a few months (maybe fixed temporarily), we needed a new gasket inlet etc. etc. we later saw that the hood has been repainted as it started to crack. The salesman told us, before we bought the car, that we could come back with any issues - guess what, we tried once and they didn't want to hear about it. Now, 2 years later, we spend over $12,000 on the car to keep it safe and running and won't resell for anymote than $2,200. Worst experience ever!!! I admit we were a bit naive to trust a car dealer, lesson learned!

Bought a 2013 Ford Taurus from Danny just before Christmas. The purchase process was smooth, but there was a bit of a fiasco after we took the car home and Danny handled it like a champ! The night we brought the car home it was like -30 out and the heat stopped working and the engine overheated on the way home from the grocery store. We were less than pleased with our purchase at that point. Less than 30 kilometres on the car since we bought it and the engine is overheating!?! All sorts of things were running through our minds. I contacted Danny and he was more disappointed in the car than me. Even though he wasn’t probably legally obligated he did the stand up thing and covered a tow to the repair shop and the repairs. Turned out that a radiator hose burst and not something more serious, thank heavens. Anyway, the car is running great and we’ve since driven it down to southern Alberta and north of Calgary a couple times. Looking forward to driving it for years to come. Danny is a good dude and I’m definitely making Altawest our first stop for future car purchases.

From the moment I walked into the dealership and spoke with Mike I knew I would end up buying a vehicle from AltaWest Auto Sales that day even though I still had 3 different places to see cars at. I instantly felt comfortable with their genuine knowledge and willingness to provide the best service and experience. Their main concern was with my safety in the vehicle and treated me more like a daughter or relative than a customer. They were truly there to help me find the vehicle that best suited my needs and not to make a quick buck. Aside from me absolutely loving my choice vehicle - Chevy Equinox they made sure it was fully safe for registration going above and beyond. The vehicle needed a new part and even though I took 2 months to bring it back as I live in Banff Danny stood true to his word and took care of it! Reasonable prices, easy to find location, absolute solid guys! Not once did I feel hustled or taken advantage of, they were super easy going and helpful. Would 100% recommend! I purchased a 2007 Honday Odyssey from here. While the guy was showing me the vehicle he first had issues opening the door but on the second attempt it worked no problem. In the contract it said they had fixed the sliding door on the drivers side. I have had issues with it ever since I bought it. It does work......1 out of 30 times you close it. They refused to fix it but said they would buy it back. The guy had blamed me for wrecking it because it was fixed. Not a great experience. I have to repair it myself now. ...side not the battery needs to be replaced, the wiper blades need to be replaced, the buttons on the keys don't lock the doors they only unlock and also the buttons on the keys for the sliding doors do not work.Not in good shape for the price I had purchased it for. I might as well have went private. I know a used vehicle isn't going to be perfect but it seems like a lot of problems coming from a Dealership.

WORST Auto Sales.... I bought a Nissan from them and on my first drive to Highway, service engine light went ON. So I took the car to mechanic and guess what... I had the whole list of fault from the mechanic... List is as follows: -Major fault in Engine -Left rare rim was bent in. -Dashboard light is fused -Roof light is fused -Dead battery -Rusted battery terminal -Bad alternators -Engine belt is partial ripped off. -Bad all season tire. I am literally ripped off by this place. I am very unhappy and I want others to consider this if they want to visit this place.

Great service and friendly, low pressure sales. My car had just been written off and I needed to find something quickly. Danny and his staff made it easy and very pleasant. They were honest and forthcoming with all the info on the vehicle and the asking price was more than fair. The whole transaction was stress free and I couldn't be happier with my new truck. I test drove the vehicle on Tuesday and by Thursday all inspections were done I was driving off the lot. Thanks Danny and staff!

Service was excellent! My car was totalled last month and I was in need of a new vehicle. Danny was very nice to deal with and very knowledgeable and had excellent customer service skills. I am very picky when it comes to cars but he was patient and addressed all of my needs. I purchased a used Audi and it is everything that I want and more! I hope to deal with him and AltaWest Auto should I ever need another vehicle. Highly recommend!

I would not go here again, nor recommend them. I unknowingly got stuck with junk and a very fake mechanical inspection. When I mentioned my issues to the salesman(no names) I was just shunned. I was lied to about vehicle history, and am now stuck with a 3grand mechanical bill, just to pass inspection. to bad they are not a member of BBB even.

Bought a van from this dealership over four years ago. We were happy with service & pricing. Vehicle was checked by a mechanic before purchase at the expense of the dealer. We received prompt replies to all of our questions and some useful technical advice. Can recommend this place to someone who needs a better used vehicle.

I showed up at Alta West serious to buy a SUV and was refused to test drive it unless I buy the SUV at full price no questions asked first. His response was that he didn’t want the SUV to get dirty, nobody purchases a $40 000 vehicle without test driving it. It was very disappointing and unprofessional.

Scammed, bought vehicle for a high price, didn't realize until I got home that the headlights didn't work, and that the whole front end body panels were cheaply painted and covered in bondo to hide rust.

Mike was able to get me into a suitable car where many others including some big dealerships failed miserably. These guys were open and honest throughout my dealings with them.
