Read this whole thing if you want to know what to expect riding with American Taxi. I never write reviews, but I need to call them out for fraudulently charging me more than double my fare. My phone died while out with friends so I couldn't order a ride share home, no cash, and only my debit card to pay for a ride. American Taxi did have the ability to pay with debit, so I got my ride home for $23, swiped my card, and asked for a receipt. The driver said they can only email a receipt, so I put my email into the screen, double checked it to make sure it was correct, and left the cab. The next morning I noticed I was charged $51, and no receipt was ever emailed. I have called the number on here repeatedly but nobody answers, I ended up having to dispute the charge with the bank. Taxi 0189 ripped me off. Reading other reviews it looks like this is an ongoing problem. They wonder why they lose customers to ride shares. Never use these guys!

This is the second time we've ridden with this cab company in New Orleans. The first time, our driver got lost and we had to gps him the directions and still charged us for the distance he got lost. The second driver was the worst. He input our address in his GPS and blatantly igonered all the GPS directions and took us to the complete wrong side of town, only to turn around and eventually take us to the right so side of town. We called him out on the fact he ignored the GPS and took us to the wrong side of town on purpose to charge us the extra distance, and he blew up trying to tell us he was doing us a favor by only charging us $30. No sir, even the taxi we took the previous night who got lost only cost us $17 and we left from the same spot to head to the same place. Uber has always been fantastic. We will never ride with taxi ever again.

I flew in @Louis Armstrong N.O. Airport 2wks ago. A lady walked up to me and ask if I would call a taxi service for her. I Goggled "taxi services" near me. I started calling each one until I got an answer(had been forwarded to a record messages) take in mind this was about 10pm, after calling (3)taxi services this one answered. I gave my phone to the lady to speak with the person. What touch me was this lady needed to go to Mandeville, LA stated to taxi service the amount of money she had left and taxi service agreed to take her. Shortly after I left airport taxi service called to ask where would I be would be arriving in 5mins I explained that it was a lady needing services and gave a description of the lady to him, told him what gate area we was waiting in. I got off the phone and ask the Lord that he would see the taxi to the lady.

I called American Taxi one day before traveling to New Orleans. I was immediately told it was no problem to pick me up. After speaking to someone from the office, I received a phone call from my driver. When I did not answer I received a text message informing me who he was. My train from MS was delayed for nearly 4 hours due to the weather. My driver, Mousa Housheya, reassured me that he would wait on us no matter the time we arrived. This man was a God send for me and my family. He was extremely professional and one of the sweetest people I have ever met. If you are in New Orleans call American Taxi and ask for Mousa Housheya. If you can't pronounce it correctly tell them you want cab #0567. I promise you won't be disappointed. He is the best!

This review is for an American Taxi driver. His name is Mousa, and he drives Taxi # 0567. In early October, he picked up our group of 4, and while in his cab, he suggested that he could drive us to the airport on the day we left town. We made special arrangements with him, and exchanged cell phone numbers. He called ahead to verify our pick-up time, and to let us know he was on his way. He was courteous, friendly and reliable, and seemed honest and appreciative of our loyalty to keep to our arrangement. He even parked at the car rental terminal and carried our bags for us on the lengthy walk to the building. My 67 yr. old bad back appreciated that. Based on my personal experience, I would recommend him highly.

Today 8/12 around 5pm Cab #1350 was very rude while picking my family and I up from the airport. Did not turn on his meter and thought we were paying cash $60. Turned on his meter and we swiped credit card. He could not get it to work while the message on the monitor was saying card accepted. After the second time my wife refused to swipe the card a third time. She wanted to check her card balance before to be sure she was not double charged. That's when driver became rude. I had to step in and tell him to watch the way he was talking to my wife. All this while my kids where in the back seat. Never again! If something is not done about this driver I will continue to post on social media about American Taxi.

This morning on the way to work.. Driver in Cab 1616 decided my vehicle was in her way for her last minute merging on to I-10 on David Drive. She came with in inches of hitting my vehicle because I wouldn't let her in. Using her Dodge Caravan cab as a weapon to threaten to hit me is unacceptable. I should have let her hit me and let the cops tell her who was at fault. Last minute lane changing crossing the white line is dangerous and against the law. She then proceeded to speed and weave in and out of traffic and at one point get in front of me and brake check me.. I have pictures of her cab and a video of her so there is no question it was her.

Barbara G. I got a taxi 7/30 about 10 am from a shorter older man, with an accent. I wanted to go from the pier to pick up a car at an owners house. I gave the driver the address, who insisted I should be going to the airport which rent cars. He drove towards the airport, then drove to the address o had given him. He caused a lot of anxiety for my husband and me. Then, he overcharged me for the ride, which should have cost $40, as it was a 20 minute ride. He requested $50. I feel he took advantage me, because of my lack of familiarity with the city. Next time, I will ask first, the mileage distance for my destination and price.

We had Eli as are cab driver my hubby is a trucker so we had a little down time and wanted to see the sites of New Orleans I had already choice a couple of places I knew I wanted to see but as we are not from here I told Eli what I wanted to see but told him if there was stuff he could suggest that would be awesome which he gladly did he was an awesome cab driver and tour guide I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting an excellent driver and tour guide he knows his stuff and is very patient when it came to wanting to take pictures if I could give him more stars I would absolutely sweet gentleman

The dispatcher lied to me for over two hours continually telling me, yes, yes, there's a car on its way to pick you up. This was three days after Ida had hit NOLA so it was understandable that things were not normal. However, for that dispatcher to continue to reassure me that there was a car coming within 15 minutes each time I called over the two hour period was nothing short of fraud. Eventually, I had to flag down a private vehicle and offer that man twice the cab rate to get me home. Shame on American cab. Simple honesty would have gone a long way.

I caught an American Taxi from the airport. Gave the guy the address on a piece of paper: he took me to the wrong address, demanded that I get out of his cab, and then called 911. I filed a complaint but did not get any response from the company. If you think it would be fun to be dropped off in the middle of some residential area that you know nothing about, this is your cab company! The cop said, "Ha-ha. You are in Metairie, not New Orleans. Don't take taxis; take Uber."

Worst experience ever. Do not use , I repeat do not use. They do not start the meter . They charge whatever they want. This was the second taxi service we in New Orleans , the first service was amazing (can't remember the name) . But American taxi, was awful. Like I said before, never started the meter. So it doesn't show how much the fare is. They just charge whatever they want. First ride was $10 , second was $15 same number of passengers and same distance.

Left a bag in the taxi - don't have the Taxi number- but have the taxi driver name!!!! and all American can do is give us a case number. Said if we had the cab number all would be good. How is the cab number better than the driver name Very disappointed in the lack of caring. We left the bag while en route to the emergency room due to a family emergency. A little help and understanding would be awesome - but is entirely lacking.

If i can give this business 0 stars i would. Took taxi ride that was 0.5 miles in new orleans, and was charged $10. The next day i wake up and had a $43 charge on my account from this place. After calling the company numerous times no one is wanting to help and blows it off. Horrible company, and people in charge. Not surprised that eevry other review is having the same problem i am. This company is a bunch of scammers.

I would give them less if I could. Won't answer a phone or return a message. When I finally did get an answer, I was told they would find out where the driver was and call me back, didn't happen. I am stuck with no car and can't get a cab I suspect because they don't want to drive ten minutes out of the city. Don't mess with these guys, you would probably be stranded if they did take you somewhere.

Eli was very friendly and enthusiastic to share his knowledge and recommendations to make our trip to New Orleans memorable. If I could give them a negative star I would. Called for a cab thirty minutes ago. They said seven or eight minutes. Did not answer for the two calls I made after. I had to call another cab company tfor work and I’m late. Do not make the mistake of attempting to use this company they will disappear off the face to of the earth after agreeing to pick you up. Horrible!

On Sunday Sept 16th, 2018, the driver of vehicle #0704 was extremely friendly and very kind! I forgot my phone in the back of his vehicle. When I called it, he answered right away and returned it to me within minutes. He did so without expectation of payment or a tip. Just a good person! Excellent company and would recommend American Taxi to anyone in New Orleans!!

Cab number 0202 just tried to run me off of the road on West Napoleon headed toward Kenner. I wasn’t going fast enough for him and he tried to dodge my car and a school bus that was going too slow for him. He raced in front of me and then slammed on his brakes so that I would hit him. If this is the way you run a taxi service then you should be out of business.

my husband and I was walking back from the Gumbo Shop at night I would say around 9ish and while we was walking one of the guy's from American Taxi and stop us and he was so sweet he took us back to our hotel Thank you American Taxi after reading some of the bad review's I think they need help 'cause American Taxi is nothing like those people say they are

We had a superb experience with Mousa, our driver. He contacted me the day before our pickup to confirm and introduce himself. He arrived early and texted again to let us know. He drove us to the airport safely and was very pleasant. Very professional and reliable. I will use this company again the next time I visit NOLA. Highly recommend.

I made a reservation for a 4:30 AM pick-up the night prior to a flight. Not only did no one show up, no one answered the phone when I called to check on the situation. That is everyone's worst travel nightmare - scrambling for travel arrangements at the last minute before a flight. Thank goodness United made made it quickly to pick me up.

I called the first time to ask how long it would be to pick me up and was told 10 to 20 minutes. Then I called again to place the actual order for pick up. Waited a half hour and tried calling several times with no answer. Finally had the phone picked up and was told there was no ibe in my area (near carrolton and oak!) To get me. Wow.

Wanted $40 just for a ride 2.7 miles home after work during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Refused to give me service unless I paid the $40 in cash. That is crooked and not what it cost at all. I had zero problems today getting a ride from the Marigny to the airport. Showed up when I was told they would (a major victory in this city), she took the most efficient route to deal with Saturday/Mardi Gras traffic and the ride was $36 plus tip. Just what I expected and a third of the cost of Uber or. Lyft at that time.

Got us where we needed to go, but fares were price gouged at times and so inconsistent. Numerous same destination trips cost different fees. One cabbie charged us $20 for the same ride that costed us $7 to get there for approximately the same amount of time and the meter was off in the cab as well which was a red flag.

Driver Musef was very nice and helpful. He wasn't able to drive to my hotel to pick me up (due to incident that has the streets blocked off) so he parked and walked to get me and take me back to his vehicle and on to the airport. Worst experience ever!!! The taxi driver said our ride would be $25. In the morning after I checked my card activity and they fraudulently charged me $78 for a 3 miles ride. I tried to call them several times but they won't answer the phone! Also, the driver was extremely rude and drove way above speed limit.

I used the taxi service on Friday evening from Airport to the French qtr. Upon departing the taxi I left my laptop bag in the cab. We nearly always take Uber these days, but because it seemed convenient we just got into a cab in the garden district. But the driver would not turn on the meter and tried to strong-arm us on price. We refused and really had to shout to get him to stop the car and let us out. No way that's ok.

Van number 0693 is the worse driver in existence. She parked next to me over the line and her passenger hit my car. When I told her about it she said it wasn't her problem. Bottom line she's a trash employee and person who wouldn't apologize for her customers mistake or her parking mistake.

Driver 1426. He was very aggressive and was very upset that he had to drive us from the Superdome to Uptown. We asked him to make a stop and he said "I'm not your personal driver" and yelled and got violent. Felt very unsafe and treatened. Do not take this cab service for your own safety.

Taxi number 1097 on March 29, 2019 at around 5:30 PM was driving very reckless. That driver should learn how to use signals. Had an elderly passenger and showed no regard for other motorists on the street.
