"Animalia is one of my FAVORITE local stores in SLC"
Awesome zero waste and bulk shop!! Lots of interesting products that I haven't even seen at other zero waste shops I've been to around the country. They even had plant based food wraps which I've never seen, most food wraps are beeswax. There is kombucha on tap for the very affordable price of 20 cents an ounce. We got filled our 10 oz reusable coffee cup and it came out to $2. It was so tasty and locally made. There is a surprisingly large variety of locally made and vegan hygiene items like deodorant, lip tint, dry shampoo, etc. Also a whole wall of bulk cleaning items. Was so excited to find natural dishwasher pods at 25 cents a pod. Overall super cute spot and the woman helping us (presumably one of the owners) was so nice and friendly. Will definitely be back! Also they are starting a composting initiative where you can drop off your compost and it will be converted into energy!! So cool!!
This shop is AWESOME for those of us environmentally-minded folks living that low-impact lifestyle! This is a really excellent spot to shop for high-quality gifts, for anyone but especially for the eco-queen in your life. Animalia has a nice range of bulk style fill-your-own soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, etc. as well as some compostable packaged cosmetics. They have glass bottles for purchase there or you can bring your own containers to fill. The housewares are really tastefully curated from a range of domestic small businesses and makers (I think some of whom are local to Utah?). The owner is so sweet and even has a super friendly shop dog!! The passion in this place is palpable. Animalia is a *much needed* installment to the SLC area! ♻️✌️
I have been getting my bulk items from Animalia since they opened and don’t plan on stopping! I’ve always been really impressed with how nice the owner is, how educated her & her staff are on sustainable products and how she supports local artists. I think Animalia’s pricing is super fair for the quality of products available. Also, during these crazy times of a pandemic she has created a safe and clean environment (yay for curbside pickup) so I can continue to get the items I need and still adhere to social distancing. Animalia has also introduced me to some of my favorite products that I will use forever (shoutout to Gara & organicup). Thanks for being awesome!
Abbey is the kindest and genuinely cares about the customers coming in, as well as the products that she carries in her store. She can tell you the story behind each product, which goes to show how much time and effort she puts into providing the highest quality products that are cruelty-free, ethical, and kind to the environment. There is a great selection for bulk refills (hand soap, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, and so much more!), and tons of other single-use alternatives. I have also found many gifts for friends/family here. Every person who's received an Animalia gift has absolutely loved it. My favorite store in SLC by far!
Animalia is one of my FAVORITE local stores in SLC. It has a beautifully curated selection of goods, made by incredible artists. I am always surprised by the creativity and care that has gone into each and every item and always leave with something unexpected and joy-filled. I just ordered the most beautiful piece of pottery online! In addition, I use their bulk resupply for almost all of our household goods (hand soap, laundry detergent, cleaner, deodorant, etc.) It is wonderful to find a store that is so conscious about what it stocks and how it impacts the world around it. Couldn't recommend more!
I LOVE this store. The world is in dire need of bulk/refill stores and this one is wonderful! Probably my new favorite just to swing in and see what new things have arrived to better REDUCE & REUSE. I get so excited to teach family and friends about this female owned small business and to help promote saving & sustaining the planet the best we all can for now. Although they are a smaller store, I know that I'd like to see this place grow and expand. So in order to do-so, I will continue showing up to give them my business. Thanks Animalia for what you bring to Salt Lake!
Wish I lived next door to this shop so I could visit every day!! Animalia sells wonderfully unique, handmade, and earth-friendly products of all kinds, from house wares and cleaning supplies, to vintage clothing and artisan jewelry, to beauty products and self-care goods. This shop is a GO-TO for all your gifting and personal pampering needs. AND THE BEST PART IS all your purchases are guilt-free as everything is sustainably sourced, non-toxic, cruelty free, and/or made by local *real* artists! A visit to Animalia is the perfect way to start/continue shopping *kindly.*
This is my favorite place to shop! I love the wholesome, natural, clean and cruelty free ingredients for the bulk refills and the prices are very comparable to anything else you would buy. I love not contributing to more waste in the world, supporting real local artists and feeling good about the impact of my purchases. I love the lavendar bulk deoderant (more pricey but also non toxic and plastic free so totally worth it- feels and smells amazing!), Household cleaner, dish detergent and pods, and I can't wait to try more of the great products offered!
Great people doing great things! Their food waste program is so helpful - we're visiting SLC and don't have the residential compost option, plus Animalia takes so many more things, like oils, bones, processed foods, etc. (Find a list of acceptable items on their website.) The store is an environmentalist's dream, with good quality zero waste products including tons of bulk refill options. I got a safety razor (they take back used ones in store), reusable Swiffer pads, and reusable makeup remover pads. The owner is super sweet and knows her stuff!
The employee was super helpful, and when we went during a weekday, we were the only ones in the store. I love that you can refill products here, which is way less waste for the environment. I have only got the Oneida conditioner refill here, and it’s pretty good. It smells nice, although my hair is a bit staticky. I’ve also bought the Meow Meow Tweet shampoo bar and I loved it. It lasted five months for me. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, and if you can go on a weekday, it will be a lot less busy than weekends.
Just popped in to check it out and got shampoo, conditioner, and dishwasher pods. They have free and good sized jars to use if you want to try it out. It’s definitely an adjustment but it’s been a goal of mine to use less plastic since Earth Day. Because I used the free jars, it costed less than I was expecting! Drove from Orem so it was a little bit of a jaunt, but I’m glad I got to come here. Wishing success upon this store and other stores like Hello!Bulk so that they can expand to other places :)
Animalia is such a cute little shop! I love seeing all the goods from independent makers. And I particularly appreciate their bulk bar and focus on sustainable packaging. I also LOVE their food waste drop off. I live in an apartment that doesn't even offer recycling, let alone green waste collection. So I really appreciate that Animalia is making strides to reduce the amount of food going to landfill in our community by providing a drop-off service.
They do have a great selection on bulk products and I really loved and enjoyed the shop until I went to Hello Bulk Markets (also in slc) and their prices were way more fair for the same things. I think that Animalia is taking advantage of people. I got a dryer ball from the other store for $4 and animalia was selling the same exact ones for $14. I appreciate this stores goals and values which is why they got a 3, the price is what I didn’t like.
I really adore this shop. I purchase my face lotion, body lotion, conditioner, and thrifted clothing from here. As someone who has rarely bought the same product twice (always a bit displeased and looking for things that actually help nurture my sensitive skin), I keep coming back to Animalia as my products run out. And that’s saying something. Added bonus is that I reduce plastic consumption, and the environment is warm and lovely.
I’ve been eyeing Animalia since before I moved to the SLC area. Loved that they carried ceramics from Happy Hour, but more so love that they carry products with core values that you can trust, and feel good about supporting. Thank you to the Animalia team for thoughtfully selecting the products you offer, you’re making a difference. I’m really excited with the products I’ve purchased, and will save up my empties until next time!
I got a gift card for my birthday and didn't expect to spend all of it at once, but there were too many things I wanted! I have been looking for reusable options with laundry detergent, toothpaste, tooth brushes, dryer lint balls, all of it! I was so blown away with the options that were available. The store itself was so cute, clean, and well designed. I have loved every product I purchased, no comaints on quality whatsoever!
I always look forward going to Animalia to refill all my stuff (and dropping off food compost)! Their prices are very reasonable & their products are so eco-friendly & sustainable. They also help local artists thrive. Aaaaand so incredibly nice and pleasant. 10/10 - must visit this store! But also if you can't - their online ordering system is super efficient and prompt. And they wrap it all nice and avoid using plastic!
Went in this morning to partially fill my 16oz Dr. Bronners soap bottle (it wasn’t completely empty). The woman working wasn’t very friendly and the price was over $7 to fill my bottle! I am all about zero or low waste. BUT if you want more people to be low waste, then you better offer good prices. This places is outrageous. It would be cheaper to buy a new bottle, which is want you don’t want people to do.
Brilliant concept! Beautiful store! Aesthetically very well appointed, but more importantly this establishment gives consumers the opportunity to lessen their impact on the planet and purchase sustainably oriented, high quality products for everything from house cleaning solutions, personal hygiene, clothing, jewelery, ceramics & more!!! Stop throwing everything out after 1 use. Figure it out here.
I am a little late in finding this store...but I'm thrilled that I did! Really delightful to visit and browse. More importantly, you can get all your beauty products refilled here. They have bottles to purchase or you can bring your own clean bottles. I hope this store continues to grow and open more locations, the environment needs us to do this. Thank you, Animalia.
Amazing little shop! Makes it easy to shop locally and sustainably. The owner is so sweet and employees are helpful and kind. If you’re worried it’s more expensive to buy by weight, the price is easily comparable to less earth friendly alternatives. Definitely swing by if you’re in the area, or add it as a permanent stop on your errands!
This place is heaven sent... Abbey has an eye for unique, hand made goods, and is passionate about reducing waste - it really makes you feel inspired to do the same! The energy of Animalia is palpable and warm. I love refilling my soaps and beauty products here and buying gifts for others from Animalia are always well received.
I absolutely love this shop! This shop was my gateway to more sustainable living. The world is filled with so much plastic, and while we can’t always avoid it, why unnecessarily add more? The owner of this shop is a sweetheart, and her mother and employees that she has working occasionally are just as wonderful!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. Way to take a stand and help us reuse and reduce waste! The world needs more stores like this. Refill your hand soaps, shampoo, lotions, deodorant, & laundry detergent too. Just go here. Great for gifts made by local artists also. The owner is great. Support local! ❤❤ …
Animalia makes shopping local and low waste super easy. I love being able to pick up my body care items and local vendor goods! I recommend this place to everyone, especially since shopping local and low waste is so much better for the planet and our economy. Visit Animalia and you won't regret it!
Absolutely go here if you're in Salt Lake and in search of a place to support local artists and sustainable living! They've got a great bulk section and carry plastic-free makeup, deodorant, and skincare. And don't leave without checking out the thrift clothing available via Thrill of a Thrift!
I LOVE this place and tell anyone about it who will listen. It’s a small shop that has made a big difference. This is where I refill my bottles with soaps etc. and every time I go in they have other products I haven’t seen before. Such a unique shop with so many useful products.
The most darling and thoughtful shop. Female owned, local art, environmentally conscious and cute as can be - everything you could ever want. Love their products and focus on the earth. Always leave with more goodies than I came for that I can feel good about. <3
absolutely amazing!!! such an interesting array of items and the employees are always so sweet. customer service via instagram is also so incredible! definitely one of my favorite shops in slc and i recommend them to anyone who will listen <3
Vanlife member wanting to minimize my impact! Stocked up on refill soap Reusable tooth brush, glass toothpaste jar. This place has it all, Sustainable bath product groceries, earth friendly gifts, green shopping, zero waste, plastic free.
A little bit pricy, but for more ethically-based, zero waste products, definitely on par to cheap. Really fun atmosphere, kind workers. They have a donation bin for containers so you can take/leave if you forget your own/have extras.
Love all the bulk options they have for personal care products, and a very cute selection of handmade jewelry and knick knacks! I also take advantage of their food waste drop off and would recommend it to everyone.
Abbey was so helpful in suggesting a good vegan deodorant for my sensitive skin, the bulk items were so affordable and felt so good leaving without a bunch of trash that would end up in the landfills. 10/10 go in
I’m glad a store like this exists in SLC! I buy all my cleaning products and a lot of personal hygiene products here. A great store to help an individual become waste free and reduce, reuse, and recycle.
I’m new to zero waste life & trying to transition this was my first shop and I had such an amazing experience. I felt comfortable asking for recommendations and tips! Will definitely be visiting again!
Fantastic green-friendly shop with a delightful local owner! I love the dish soap, shampoo bar, and laundry detergent, and with all the great products and unique items I know where I'm going for gifts!
LOVE Animalia! These folks are changing the world by helping replace single use items and fast fashion with things that will last for years (or forever!) Visit, it will change how you see the world!
Small selection of toiletries and consumables that help reduce waste. We got a glass straw with cleaner and sleeve plus some toilet paper. There's a scale to measure tare weights for bulk liquids.
Had to rush out of here because the smell was too overwhelming. If you have 45 dollars to spend on a soap holder a child could make you are not serving anything for the planet. Just saying.
The greeting cards are spicy. They always offer a laugh after I cry about how humans ruined the earth. This shop is an asset to SLC! We could reduce so much waste in our lil big city.
such a cute store. everyone working was super friendly. starting to be more eco friendly can be so intimidating and this is such a good place to start and ask questions!
Absolutely love this place, been here a few times and each time I always find, or refill with some great product. Staff is amazing, always excited to go back
It’s inspiring to see a bulk refillable store in Utah. We didn’t need to refill anything but are planning on incorporating this into our grocery routine.
The perfect place! It was a great environment and everyone was so helpful! I loved the vibe and it was super nice knowing my purchase was eco friendly
Absolutely magical, intentional, and sincere. Thank you for giving Salt Lake options for buying more sustainably and for all your beautiful pieces!
Lovely shop, thankful for the opportunity to find great products with less waste. The woman who helped me was super friendly and helpful !
Awesome store, they sell personal hygiene and cleaning suppliesin bulk, without any plastic as well as some tasty local kombucha!
Honestly, I loved the philosophy and wanted to support, but I can't trust a place that deliberately sells me expired products.
Really great vibes, the staff was so helpful and kind! The products are amazing quality so I’ll definitely be coming back:)))
Very unique selection of items with a great purpose. The worker, Maura, was adorable, very helpful, kind and everything good.
I love Animalia! They get all their supplies from local businesses and it’s all eco friendly, plus they have great service!
Amazing store!!!! We needed something like this in SLC. I am so happy to see someone who gets it and cares about the earth!
Abby is so kind and very nice to talk to! Very happy to spend money at this shop! Will return as much as possible!
Absolutely in love with everything this store has to offer! Yay for stores like this that care for the environment
All the products here are so amazing and Earth friendly! Abbey and Kell are also the sweetest and are so helpful!
Love this place! Environmentally friendly products and friendly service. Also, sometimes there's a cute dog

This place is great! The people are so friendly and the items are all high quality. This is my happy place
Really unique store, and the prices seem reasonable for local products. I love the plastic-free concept.
I have been refilling my products here for a couple years and love this place. It’s welcoming and tidy.
I love running out of product so I get to visit this cute store. Love everything they sell and do here!
The cutest little shop! Abbey has curated an amazing collection of products, and a great community too!
Been coming here for years and just love their mission, products and costumer service.
