Heart broken - we took our 7 year old rottweiler in on Sat evening, 8th June around 5pm after making an appointment. We have mixed feelings of our experience and was not satisfied with the diagnosis. Firstly the vet did not introduce herself, then after examining our pet, she said that she was not sure about the diagnosis but said and I quote " its not looking good". She mentioned he had fluid in his abdomen and something about his heart. We asked if there was any hope in him recovering and again no proper answers or guidance was given. We asked if she could administer a pain killer or a drip to relieve the pain whilst we could understand what we dealing with and discuss the way forward. Again this was shot down and said she couldn't. She said she needed both blood tests and xrays, approx cost of R6000 with no assurance if he could be saved. We asked for a second opinion and her response was she couldn't allow our dog to leave in his condition, neither could she estimate his lifespan if he had to go home. We asked if she treated Rottweilers with similar conditions before and again did not get proper answers. This was an emotional roller coaster. We never imagined that we would need to put our beloved pet down that evening especially when solutions were not presented and so many unknowns. Everything happened so quickly and we were kept on being told that "its not good"..... but what did this really mean in lay mans terms. Our rotweiller was not given a chance to fight for his life. All we wanted was a proper diagnosis with a treatment plan to recovery instead we had to put him down and walk out of there heart broken. Today I sent an email to follow up about the cremation and the collection of the ashes and still no response. Although the staff was patient and the vet took the time to speak telephonically to another family friend Vet, who was away at the time, we remain devastated. We would have appreciated proper guidance and straight forward answers and solutions especially given that they are professionals. At the time, if the solution was to keep him overnight to monitor his condition, at least this would have been an alternative to euthanisia!

I took my 3 year old Yorkie to Animania vet in Fourways . He was very active, alert and seemed happy. He went off his food at supper time which was very unusual for him, normally such a gannet. The doctor examined him and booked him in for observation. He asked if I would accept charge for blood test which of course I agreed to. He also wanted to scan my dog which I agreed to. The next afternoon He said I should take my Pookie home as he was not eating and perhaps would feel more inclined to eat at home. I thought this was weird as the reason I took him in was he wasn't eating??? Anyway he was a Vet so I thought if he was happy nothing was wrong then maybe I Was being overly worried. The next morning my dog was extremely weak and still not eating. I rushed him to Animania where the Vet again asked if he could do blood tests, I again agreed, thinking he needed to do more extensive tests to determine what was wrong with my Pookie. This time he stayed a couple of days, still getting worse and still not eating. I got a call at around 9pm saying my boy had died. The next morning I went to pay the bill, over R11k. When I asked what caused his death, the doctor said that they did blood tests the day he died and it showed acute Pancreatitis. Here's the problem, they WAITED 4 days before doing blood tests! Even after me agreeing twice to accept the charges. 2 days later my other Yorkie, Archie, showed the exact same symptoms. This time I took him to Chartwell Vet as I had lost faith in Animania. Blood test done instantly, diagnosis done, a course of injections and dog was back to normal in a day or two. I would not take any pet to Animania again as they did not do what needed to be done in time because "their blood tester was broken" why not outsource? Like they did with the scan?? I waited 2 months before writing this review as I did not want emotion to cloud my thoughts. My Pookie would still be with us if blood tests were early enough to make proper diagnosis. It took nearly a week for him to basically starve to death. Shame on them,

I will never go to this vet ever again. I brought my baby in as she was extremely unwell. She was extremely lethargic, lost weight and refused to eat for 3 days. 1. The vet never introduced himself to me so I don't even know who treated my baby. 2. I constantly had to ask him to repeat himself because he spoke so softly and quickly. 3. He kept on telling us that she was constipated which I told him she wasn't as I know how she acts when she is constipated and this is completely different. 4. He offered us 2 options medication or bloods and x-rays he didn't seem extremely concerned and said either way offer the bloods well do the medication so we opted for the medication as he put her on a broad spectrum antibiotics and he treated for constipation which we still didn't think was right but obviously listened to the vet because he knows what he's talking about (we'll he clearly didnt) I had to rush my baby to the emergency room last night because she rapidly decided, she could hardly walk. She was admitted and has kidney failure! But no its constipation!! We spent R1500.00 for the vet to misdiagnose, not listen to us, act as if it was nothing and basically not care. My baby girl left this earth on 31/12/2022

without a doubt my pup was given 1 injection but was supose to be given the 5 in 1 treatment and rabies vacine medication acording to the card and my bill. So i stand to be corrected here but is this not 2 seperate injections.? In adition my pup is 3 months old. he was only given 1 injection my wife and i where both present but the tags in the card and i was informed im paying for rabies 5 in 1 deworming tick n flee pill . Hes 3 months old is he not to young for a rabies shot. Secoundly i asked them if its not too much meds cause they pushed it on me that i give him de worming and tick and flee pill . I was uncertain but still decided to trust the vet cause they a vet. guess what he threw it up not long later Mxm . Its my first pup and they knew i didnt know anything . Im not the expert but aftwards i reserched abit and i feel these guys took advantage of my lack of education to make a quick buck and in the process harmed my pup. He has not thrown up before and is on a strict eating plan 1 thing iv done right. So 1 star from me for the above and mainly that i felt a need to query what was done .

If you love your pet, STAY AWAY from this place! This is an institution that has zero concept of good service delivery and when questioned about their lack of transparency and poor communication, offered up an excuse as "This is a business afterall" and that they "do not need your business". Apart from their very poor communication and lack of accountability, you run the definite risk of taking in a healthy pup and leaving with a myriad of issues, like I did. The supposed vet (and I would challenge you check their credentials since it could very well be that a single license is utilised to front for ill-equipped staff) has absolutely no manner of speaking to his patrons and a total disregard to pet owners request for transparency. Prices are not available for treatments on request, and my belief is that they bill on a basis of what the level of extortion is viably possible. Do yourself a favour and stay away. There are many better options in the area, with local vets who care for the local pet community. Totally disgusted with this place! Only one word sums them up... PATHETIC!

I'm finally ready to share how horrible our experience was with this vet. We brought our pup through in March after hours just to receive the SAME answers as quite a few people here ("It's not looking good") multiple times as well as a misdiagnosis of warfarin poisining. The man, who I presume is the vet (not the lady with unclear and repetitive answers, who I presume is the nurse) did not SAY 1 WORD, he was extremely unfriendly. After three days we were told that our beloved baby could come home and he'll be fine as long as we give him his medicine. He came home and he looked absolutely awful. I went to Krugersdorp Animal Hospital (our family vet) where first thing they did was a blood test and immediately saw that our boy had multiple organ failure but the vet said he does not believe it's from warfarin poisoning because he did not show the symptoms that they normally do with this diagnosis. We were on our way to another vet for dialysis when our baby passed away. They are incompetent and money driven. Please stay away from them

We rushed our German Shepherd cross (Dante) to Animania late on a Tuesday night in severe pain - he was diagnosed with a mild bladder infection by a different vet but we were sure it was more serious than that. Animania welcomed us, admitted Dante, let us sit with him while he was being connected to a drip (despite it being 1am), and then took him through to a lovely little "doggy hospital enclosure" complete with a plush blanket and mattress. Animania discovered, through further x-rays, that Dante had a penile fracture. They stabilised him, managed his pain wonderfully, hand fed him when he was too nauseas to eat, contacted us daily with updates and helped us to transfer him to a specialist surgeon. I am so impressed with their level of service, expertise and compassion; we have a new favourite vet. Thank you Animania!

My wife and myself Ken have just returned from this exeptional veterinary clinic with friendly staff Thumi, assistants Richard and Leslie ( spelt correctly i hope) and brilliant service provided by Doctor Chris Marufi regarding an emergency with our Pekingese child whom suffered throughout the night with a abscess and awoken to blood on face and flooring. We thank the staff with all our hearts and wish all happy holidays and may their dreams come true in the new year. A special thanks to Doctor Shepard with our last visit a month or two ago assisting with our rabies shots for the two Pekingese children and their TERS certificates. Genuinely the most positive vet experience ever. My pup wasn't cowering behind me the moment we stepped through the door. The staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and understanding. The vet we saw listened to the full story and was thorough with her check of what could be wrong. The tail was wagging the entire time, even through the shots (which has never been the case in the last near 10 years). If I could give more stars, I would. Beyond happy that I chose them for our first visit since moving into the area and will 100% be the vet of choice in the future. Plus, there's a resident pup that judges you from the rooftop as you walk in and its amazing.

I would like to give compliments where compliments are due, I have had to take my dog to Animania one eve after work as he had undone some stitches that he had from another vet I go to. Well i have never had this type of service from a veterinary practice before, the kindness, gentleness and compassion. I had Dr Roy and Dr Shepherd helping me. This was the worst service i have ever experienced. I went there to help my little baby kitten. He was 10 months old. I thought he had worms. Turns out he had feline aids. The vet tried to charge me R5 600. He the. gave me a cheaper option. But that made my cat worse. I ended up going to another vet because the refused to let me come back as their vet was on lunch. My little baby is now dead. And they did nothing. They took my money and didn’t help my baby.

This vet is discussting! Our pup was wrongly diagnosed , given incorrect medication, manageress and the vet were very unfriendly . Rude . We were then over charged .!!Am stil waiting for Chris the Owner to return my calls. He is clearly avoiding me . So unprofessional ! The vet I then took my pup too was shocked with the medicine animania had given us and also charged us half the price . He is slowly getting better now .

It is truly a blessing to have such a caring, professional and trustworthy Veterinary Clinic so nearby. To be honest, I would drive here even if they weren't close as the service is on another level. Dr Shepard rescued our baby Gopika from a dire state and was extremely thorough. Cindy was so friendly and welcoming as well as understanding. The care received from every person here is truly amazing and commendable.

Absolutely pleased with the service and care provided. Took our dog here late at night for a emergency check. The vet was very kind and friendly, was quite fast and explained perfectly everything thats going on and needs to be done. If you have a tight budget or need a cheaper 24 hour option definitely would recommend them. My dog is perfectly fine now thank you so much.

My new puppy went to have a checkup - all the boxes ticked: clean, efficient & friendly staff, a well stocked shop, state of the art amenities& equipment, a doctor who really knew what he was doing, a nice open area outside to go walkies & explore afterwards, plus other services to choose from (training, day school, kenneling, etc). After our bull got sick, we took him to Animania. Even though they don't usually treat cows, they took him in and helped us. They treated him with an IV and meds, and didn't charge us an arm and a leg. Great vets, very friendly! I take my dogs and cats there as well, they're always friendly and accommodating.

Great service! I work from Monday to Saturday, so Animania made a plan for me to come on Saturday afternoon without charging surcharges for out of hours. Really friendly and open staff and quick vaccinations. They took excellent care of my cat- and the most affordable vet in the area. Thanks

Took my pitbull to the vet with a cyst, was not offered any other treatment (antibiotics etc) besides surgery. This place just wants money. Only went there for training with City Paws. Now that City Paws has moved, I will definitely not be back to Animania for any reason.

Horrible horrible horrible! We booked our two cats in for a wash and to cut their nails (they get groomed often) and they sedated our cats with multiple sedatives! We not only had to pay triple our original quote but our cats are still drowsy 10 hours later.

I took my kitten there last week. She got an abscess from the injection. Now I am told to pay a consultation fee to see the vet regarding their improper practice. Never taking my cat to this vet again.
