Anthem denied a claim for precertification on an ALIF procedure. I have been seeking treatment for chronic pain and other complications as a result of degenerative disc disease for over 18 months. I was referred by a physician to have a spinal implant put in place to mitigate pain. At the behest of Anthem I underwent multiple evaluations, including a psychiatric exam, only to be denied this route to pain management. The reasoning being that I had not been evaluated as a candidate for spinal surgery. To comply with this request from Anthem, I sought the care of a separate doctor, who evaluated an eight month-old MRI scan and ordered a current scan as well. I complied. Significant and rapid degeneration could be evinced in this short time. He concurred with Anthem that I was a candidate for surgery. Surgery was scheduled. I requested a month off of work starting 9/4/2015 (date of surgery). This was on the fifth of August. Seven days before my operation, Anthem denies coverage for the surgery they told me to seek out. I had already entirely restructured my life to accommodate this event. Subsequently, they failed to make themselves available for a peer-to-peer interview in a timely fashion, and lied to both myself, our insurance broker, and my surgeon with regards to their failure to make contact. My surgery has now been cancelled. I am in significant, unmitigated pain, without a single treatment option left available to me by this company. I am certainly approaching my employer to plea with them to switch carriers come November. This has been without a doubt one of the more stressful and upsetting times of my life.

CORRUPT INSURANCE COMPANY Do not use their live health online, it's a joke. The doctor's will not prescribe any medications online. The doctor will tell you, you have to physically go to a doctor for that. I had this same experience twice. A total waste of time and money. On their website they claim they will provide online prescriptions, but it's a lie, they do not provide online prescriptions, what they do provide is lies. Therefore their service is useless. What a joke. AVOID AT ALL COSTS ! ! !

Refused my wife's medication prescribed by a respected medical doctor in good standing. To me that should be a crime, at no point should a bunch of corporate suits be able to supersede the orders of a doctor.

Utterly useless. Will try to weasel out oof every claim, even for life-threatening medical situations that the our doctor says Ius medically necessary.But hey, it's 'Murica and the free market health executives will save us all from all those scary sermon-on-the-mount-practising socialists.
