"Food & drinks were of good quality, the Arkley is comfortable, it has a nice ambience, with friendly, efficient & helpful staff"
"We dine every week at The Arkley"
"Atmosphere is always good"
"An evening with friends"
"Not disability friendly"
Food & drinks were of good quality, the Arkley is comfortable, it has a nice ambience, with friendly, efficient & helpful staff. Service was good but a 12.5% service charge is added automatically which seems a little high for a Bistro Pub. Personally I prefer to have the discretion to recognise and reward good (or not so good) service myself and if its automatic perhaps 10% is more reasonable. However, even allowing for current cost of living themes, the food and drinks were still a little on the high side - not exhorbitant by any means but high enough to discourage us staying for coffee & desert, and perhaps dissuading us from going more regularly, and hence 4 stars overall. If food offers are made available (as some bistro pubs like Vintage Inns do), then I think this would definitely help attract us, and more customers and result in bigger food/drink orders per head. In this regard I'd suggest the Arkley needs to be mindful that it's not only competing with its direct competition from other Bistro pubs, but also local bona-fide restaurants. We did enjoy our visit overall, and the above is intended to give a balanced and fair review.

We dine every week at The Arkley. Worthy of high praise was our delicious lunch today (21 November) served by the friendly, delightful and efficient Olivia and Rayinder and prepared by the talented chef Tudor. Updated again on 16 September 2023. We were welcomed by the professional, very friendly and highly efficient triumvirate of Mahmut, Adrian and Olivia, where we enjoyed a first class lunch. We are astonished by the negative review of Adrian who is welcoming, helpful and highly professional with all his customers, without exception, in our experience.Updated 9 May 2023. We have just had yet another superb lunch served by the affable and extremely efficient General Manager, Mahmut. There is no longer a need for us to travel to the West End of London when outstanding cuisine and service is available locally. Delicious food and friendly and efficient customer service from the managers Adrian and Olivia and their helpful staff, all in a tranquil environment. In our opinion undoubtedly the best Pub in the vicinity and also within a much wider radius. Highly recommended by our family.

Excellent.
Atmosphere is always good. Downsides: The area we sat in was very cold. Two tables complained about this. The banana blossom dish was very oily. The chips were also overcooked meaning the whole dish was inedible. We told our waitress when she asked why the dish was hardly touched. She apologised and spoke to another member of staff about it but nothing was done, no apology, no offer of any kind. It's a real shame given the dish isn't cheap (£17), and the whole meal was over £80. The onion rings were also very oily. The veggie pizza and mezze were nice. We've had some nice meals at The Arkley but unfortunately it seems the food has gone downhill. Also, the festive menu we found on the website was not the same as the one we were given on the table. The waitress confirmed with the manager that old menus are available on the website. No idea why but it meant we had to order from a menu we weren't expecting and which didn't have what we wanted. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

An evening with friends. Started well with drinks in the bar. Then went across to the restaurant to eat. It was quite busy for an hour then emptied quite early. Food was good, no complaints. What we really objected to was the fact that on a Friday night, still eating, we were brought our bill st 10pm and told we had to order drinks because the bar was closing! We’d only sat down at 8.15pm and were having a relaxing evening, after a busy week. We spoke to the manager who was absolutely not bothered that we were upset that we’d been rushed. He spoke over us and made it clear he just wanted to close early because he didn’t want to pay his staff any more than he had to. I pity the lovely staff having to work under him. They were apologetic and clearly embarrassed by him. Why you employ someone who clearly has no pride is beyond me. We will not be back. Change your manager or lose more business. Empty bar on a Friday because your manager is chasing people away - a risky strategy.

Not disability friendly. Do not go here if you have any mental health conditions. Extreme bad. Adrian the manager he is discriminatory and even when going here for years and knowing my own conditions refuses to let me sit comfortable in the hot restaurant with sensory sensitivities. Always worn a vest there even have photos and never an issue. That manager is disgusting and lost our custom. Never again going here. Adrian the manager is horrid. The waitresses were so lovely but the horrid manager likes to embarrass you and disrupt you after you have ordered. So we just got up and left when he demanded I put a hoodie on. Will be taking to the head office cos he is not good for loyal customers and robbing the business of the equality act. But then when calling even Olivia can’t defend the actions of her horrid discriminatory boss Adrian who is nasty and should be a manager at all if he doesn’t understand people mental health and the law.
These are my 'chargrilled lamb koftas'. There were no plum tomatoes, cucumber and mint salad, roasted red pepper or lavash bread. When I questioned this I was told that Chargrilled lamb koftas is the same as lamb kofta salad. It is NOT!!! There was no mention of raw red onion despite it being about 25% of the dish! When I queried these discrepancies I was offered two small flat breads and 3 pieces of roasted red pepper. I then chose the blackcurrant mousse for pudding which is accompanied by strawberries and mango pieces. The strawberries were the best part. The mousse was not tart enough and covered in sugar and the mango pieces tasted like oily fish!! Has the mango been kept in the same chiller as uncovered smoked salmon or mackerel I wonder? Very bizarre. Have never tasted mango like it in my life before. I had to go home and eat something to get rid of the fishy taste! :-(
Sunday early eve. Good vibe. Lovely décor. Noisy table if by the till/cutlery drawer area. Staff would do better to suggest options when items not available on menu especially when sea bass and lemon sole have the same ensemble when one fish type is unavailable. Desserts also have vegan options. Accomodating demeanor for issues and friendly service. Spent £220 for 6 inc wine, 3 starters, 3 desserts and 6 mains, 6 cocktails. Would go again and try some other items from menu..the fish n chips is DIVINE.

An absolutely beautiful little getaway, that had us leaving with smiles on our faces & looking forward to coming back for another dining experience.. Loved the interior design of this place (unfortunately my phone screen was broken so those photos will come in due course).. Having popped in for a quick beverage, one look at the menu and the starters looked very appetising.. all three went down a treat & those were: Salt & Szechuan Pepper Squid, Chipotle Sticky Chicken, Pan-Fried King Prawns with Chili & Feta.. A large selection of beverages also on offer including some of my favourite beers & spirits.. Customer service was a really nice experience, everyone seemed happy to help 5* Would recommend on overall experience, we'll be paying another visit in the near future
Exceptional Dining Experience at Arkley Barnet Arkley Barnet is a culinary paradise that exceeded all expectations. The food was exquisite, each dish a delightful blend of flavors and artistry. The ambiance was inviting, striking the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. However, what truly elevated the experience was Reza's impeccable service. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness added immensely to the evening, complementing the exceptional food and drink offerings. Arkley Barnet is a standout establishment that I highly recommend for its superb cuisine, inviting atmosphere, and the outstanding service provided by Reza. An unforgettable dining experience, and undoubtedly a place to revisit.

Wonderful manager I've been in Arkley Barnet restaurant three times over the last month. From the first time I did enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the restaurant, good food and professional staff which I do believe none was possible if there wouldn't be a great manager. I strongly believe his positive attitude in his management role is his most important and effective skill. He is constantly cooperative with others and tries to connect everybody together to make customers feel welcome, and respected. Very well done Mr Manager. I'm looking forward to the next Sunday to have my lunch at your well-managed restaurant.

The room was really cold. Staff didn't tell us this until we actually asked why it was so cold. They then said they had trouble with the heating. There was a plug in heater but it didn't make any difference. The size of the meal was inadequate. Ordered salmon and a very small piece arrived. It was accompanied with new potatoes but no other vegetables. At home you would add at least one other veg but this wasn't the case in the Arkley, despite the relatively high price. I left the pub cold and hungry. Very disappointing.

Visited on multiple occasions and had very different experiences. The first visit we waited 40 minutes before someone even came within line of sight to take our order and then each course took another half an hour. The next visit the food came very quick but they got our take away order wrong. Food is nice but very few low calorie options and limited vegetarian options. That being said, it's a nice location and the staff were friendly so you may have a good experience but based on my two visits, it's hard to say exactly

We were outright ignored at the door until an elderly white couple arrived next to us and started to queue. There were two men behind the bar staring at us and saying nothing. When I ordered at the bar I was purposely over charged [items added which were part of the set menu & not given happy hour prices] and charged service but not given a receipt so wasn’t aware it was charged. The barman had a bad attitude and was more concerned with over charging than doing his job. The managers were also unable to provide explanation for the mistakes on the bill. The food is delicious btw.

We spontaneously popped in for dinner with our little dog. The food was good, in particularly enjoyed the chicken pie. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is really nice and the menu is extensive, there will be something for everyone. The service was really friendly, however slightly on the slow side, we had to wait quite a bit especially for our dessert. They did bring our dog a water bowl which was really sweet. Overall a great experience and we will gladly return to try other items on the menu. Also, nice little touches like a few fresh raspberries in my glass for a berry cider really just put the cherry on top.
So sad the chef has caused me to mark this Sunday Roast down to a 2 star! The Yorkshire pudding was a large soggy batter & the "Crackling" was just a blob of congealed fat...not a crack to be heard. Will we return....only if I see reviews of Crunchy Yorkshire puds & Crunchy Crackling, there is lot's of competition for Sunday Roasts, so owners of Arkley please send the chef to another restaurant that does Sunday Roast so he can see where he's going wrong. Staff lovely & taste of food (including Scallops starter yummy!) Picture of soggy offerings

We celebrated my daughter’s 30th birthday at the restaurant. There were 10 of us, Olivier, one of the managers met us on arrival and discussed our meal choices just to confirm they were right. We made a few last minute changes but she was very calm and pleasant and told us that it was no problem. She would confirm with the chef. All went to plan, the atmosphere was great, food was fantastic and waiters and waitresses were very attentive to our needs. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.

We had a lovely lunch at The Arkley on Sunday….Rayinder was an exceptional first class waitress, very helpful and delightful. I took my wife and 2 friends here recently for lunch, a Saturday. The weather was glorious as was the service. We sat outside. Faz and the other members of staff could not have been more helpful. I visited for lunch 6 months previously but they have definitely upped their game. The menu looked similar but the presentation of the food was better. Very good value also. Food and service were both very good. HOWEVER, our table was booked for 8.45pm but was not ready as it was still occupied by clients who should have vacated. I specifically asked for a table in a warm part of the restaurant, but on a freezing cold night we were placed by a window and there was no heating as the boiler was broken. I strongly suggest that when a client makes a REASONABLE request that the restaurant takes notes and accomodates,. If these two shortcomings had not been experienced I would gave givin 10/10.

Beautiful pub and great customer service. The food was nice but nothing spectacular. We had the fish and chips which was a good average and I also had sea bass but it was slightly smelly and which is common but some places know how to either marinate or cook it in a way to get rid of the fishy smell. We will go back again as the pub has a lovely vibe but it would be great if the quality of food can improve as average food at their prices is not great.

The food was excellent, with some good vegan/vegetarian options on the very comprehensive menu. Prices were very reasonable. Speaking for myself, I had the cod and chips which was absolutely delicious. with some of the best chips ever! Service was attentive and faultless from our delightful waitress Evanthia. The only suggestion for improvement I can think of is the mushy peas: they should be authentic - made from marrowfat not frozen peas!

Visited a couple of occasions and had different experience! Quality of food and customer service is not consistent.Overall food is ok but stake is a cheap cut of meat and chewy. We’ve been here a couple of times and both times stake wasn’t good. customer service is also a let down. Although we had advanced booking they offered us the worst table where ants and flys were all over the table. They have a good selection of alcohol and soft drinks, fruity and easy to drink white wine though.

Was overcharged and the barman was reluctant to give me the itemised receipt. I ordered a Gin and Tonic and Soda and Lime and was charged £12:50! I asked for the receipt and was given the Credit Card print out. On asking for the itemised receipt I saw I had been charged £5:70 for a Peroni. As he had just served me and I was there with the Soda on the counter I was surprised. See three receipts.

The decoration is Beautiful, very modern and attentiom to detail is great. The food is very mixed, starting with the fish and chips, the fish does seem very fresh, but the taste is very blend. Chips and sauce is fine. The lamb rack is very nice, done just right. The fillet steak is fantastic and the peppercorn sauce is to die for! But the roast chicken once again is very blend, the flavouring didn't seem to gone into the meat. Services is ok

We visited at lunch time during august, so summer hols. Nice atmosphere- great location, great staff
Visited this place recently and what can I say …service was excellent, food delicious, only downside was the outdoor area, car park needs attention alongside with so called garden ! It’s sad that I’ve passed by so many times and not attracted to stop just because it seems old and tired , too bad as could win so many more new clientele with just a spruce up !

However we got the side of cauliflower cheese and it didn’t taste like cheese at all, it was nice and creamy but no cheese flavour. The service was amazing and we had a lovely young lady as our waitress and she was super nice. The apple crumble was so delicious too!
This is an amazing place. I always come here with pleasure. The atmosphere and design is amazing, very friendly staff and attentive to every detail. I've been trying different dishes and all tastes very good. The manager - Jessica is wonderful, caring and welcoming. I will definitely come back again and recommend it to my friends.
Really nice bar and restaurant with lovely staff and great food. A cheeky sneek away from the kids classes was the cause of this jewel find. The missus and I decided to have a lunch date and it was worth it. The food was great and I think I had the best home made brownie I've ever tasted (Don't tell my mom). Will come back again.

Very average if not lacking Sunday roast on all fronts. Hard potatoes, soggy Yorkshire and meat poor quality. Wouldn’t rush back.

Had a couple of drinks here with a friend. Only had one bitter available on tap, Doom Bar, which was fine. Pleasant and roomy pub with a real fire, friendly staff and a decent car park. We liked it. More
It was quiet, service polite & prompt. Burger just average ,cold dressing on cold tomato, gravy bitter unfortunately

Nice a relaxing place to catch up with friends and family post Covid 19 lockdown. Friendly staff qnd food was great. Seating outside is good but outer area is a bit noisy because of road reaffic.
Had fantastic Sunday lunch here, very varied menu including veggie options, served hot & well cooked. Three of us had 3 different meals, all were delicious, thoroughly recommend the Arkley
Really really good roasts, just had beef duo, and family had chicken roast, generous portions but more importantly proper tasty. Drink beers and cocktails made well. Will be back!!
Delicious! I have been coming here for fish and chips since a kid, and suffice to say, it always lives up to its good review.

Food was nice but we were left to our own devices when we arrived. The waitress never told us it was order food at bar, we waited ages. The other staff were friendly and attentive
Great atmosphere, kind waitresses and some delicious food. The food choices are average but delicious not much more to say other than a nice place to go for a drink or a meal
