Amazing food in a lovely restaurant right in the centre of town. The Yerevan Khachapuri, in particular, is to die for. The only slight minus points were that some of the glasses had chips in the rims, and the skylights could do with a good clean. Cannot fault the food or the service at all. I've been three times now, and it's consistently one of the best food experiences I've had in any country. It's not a cheap place, but quality costs money, and if you are willing to pay a little bit more than some other places, you'll certainly be rewarded with an amazing meal.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!!! We wanted somewhere intimate to host my sister's engagement party and when we came across the Taverna it felt like home. The decor is modern and stunning, but the added warm tones make you feel cosy and comfortable, with gorgeous Armenian artwork on the walls, and handmade Armenian cushions. The initial consultation with the owner blew us away, there's no task too big and everyone here truly goes above and beyond to make sure you have the perfect STRESS FREE night. And I mean stress free. The staff took care of so much for us. I have never seen any other restaurant as accommodating to our needs. The whole venue allows for 85 guests but by no means was there a shortage of food. Great quality, authentic food with imported Armenian wine. Everything tasted divine! We couldn't get enough of it! My family are so so grateful for all the members of staff who work here, without their brilliant customer service I don't know what we would have done. For a family run business the professionalism shown towards us was exceptional. They really made my sister's engagement party a truly special and personal one. Thank you!

One of Manchester’s hidden gems, it’s proven why it’s stood the test of time being around for so long. It transports you to being on holiday with its traditional decor and atmosphere. There seemed to be quite a few Eastern European/Asian people in there so it just shows the food must be authentic. The menu was difficult to navigate as there’s so many dishes and you’re not quite sure what the dish will be like, if you had more guidance on what to order it would really help. The food was great quality, flavoursome and fresh! Such a variety of meats, potato, bread, fresh salad and dips. We had a sharing platter and some starters as we wanted to try everything and it didn’t disappoint, the Khachapuri is an absolute must try. Its a refreshing change to try somewhere more independent in Manchester and a new cuisine away from the safe bets. The prices are also very fair, so much value for money. The service is very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely go back to try more dishes, and you should too! Highly recommended.

Having lived and worked around Manchester for close to 18 years, I have always been curious to visit this restaurant. Judging by the decor, I don't think much has changed during that period. The restaurant is in the basement bit it is well lit and spaced out. The Khachpuri starter was excellent. The bread to cheese to egg ratio was spot on. It was salty and rich but not too much to be overly filling. Unfortunately, my main wasn't on the same level. The stew was pretty average. Whilst hearty, it wasn't overly flavoursome and lacked seasoning. My friend really enjoyed his main though. We shared a bottle of Armenian wine which had a really nice finish. The service was polite, attentive and efficient. The gaps between courses were just right. I'd happily give this place another go but perhaps ask for a recommendation next time.

Lovely cellar restaurant, nice high quality decor with a comfortable timeless sort of feel. Food was outstanding, couldn't fault it. They were also great with us changing our reservation and when a few of our group didn't turn up. They had a solid vegetarian and vegan selection as well as a virtual festival of meat options. I had beef rib, so tender I ate it with a spoon and I now cannot move there was so much meat on it. It smelled so good I didn't stop to take any pictures... I was amazed how quiet this place was given it's clear quality and middle price bracket - strongly recommend this for work group lunches or for a nice meal with your partner. Five stars, will definitely be going back.

Absolutely fantastic. Quite possibly my new favourite restaurant. I have never in my life had meat cooked as well as I have had here. Each and every dish is served by delightful and friendly staff, who go above and beyond to ensure their customers have a pleasant dining experience. On top of this the decor embraces Armenian culture and is beautiful. The restaurant is clean also and well set out. If you are in Manchester, and you have not tried Armenian food before, you most definitely need to visit. If you have tried Armenian cuisine before, then you may just find your favourite Armenian restaurant in the UK.

The food was great. We had meat sharer, which comes with starters too. Staff were great, especially the new boy who was on his first night. Very friendly and professional. The score should be a 4.5 but not an option, so i went for 5 because food and service were excellent. The restaurant needs better air con as some people were warm. Some were cool and a little music or something to give a better atmosphere as this is a basement venue. Great central location next to the town hall in Manchester. Prices were reasonable at 45 per head, including beers and tips.

Stumbled across this "hidden gem" Sat 21 Oct, as we hadn't reserved anywhere to eat. It was about 7.30, went downstairs to check availability for 4 people. The owner kindly found us a table, it looked very busy, nice atmosphere. We all had a delicious meal; starters of houmous/ bread & cheese/spinach parcels. Village Stew & Veg Moussaka, for mains. All really tasty home cooked food, meat was very tender. Staff were very friendly, attentive ( but not overly). We had wine & couple of desserts, very good value. Will definitely visit again ( & reserve a table next time!). Would highly recommend.

Perfect. Delicious food and drinks, super friendly and hospitable staff, prompt service, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, everything is correctly signposted on the menu regarding dietary requirements, and our seats were super comfortable. The place itself is also gorgeous. definitely get some appetisers and go for dessert. The smoked red pepper and aubergine dip was spectacular. We had a blast. Thank you so much!

Food: we had the vegetarian mezze dish. There was only 1 small flatbread included. Why not give a little bit more? There was a huge amount of dips. Everything tasted good though! We had the golubtsy, OK but nothing special. Service: there was a service charge included in the bill. As we never pay a service charge I asked to not pay it. That was OK but I had the feeling it was very much frowned upon. The children got some crayons and a small presenr, which was very nice! All in all we were a bit disappointed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Armenian restaurant, and I must say it was an unforgettable culinary journey. The incredibly delicious food here took my taste buds on a delightful adventure through the flavours of Armenia. I can't recommend this restaurant enough to anyone looking for a taste of authentic Armenian cuisine. It's a culinary gem that deserves recognition for its incredibly delicious food, warm hospitality, and an overall exceptional dining experience. I can't wait to return!"

I chose it based on vegetarian options (plenty!!) and have been multiple times. I encourage everyone to go dine here as the atmosphere is amazing, the staff is attentive and the food is great. The variety is really good and makes me want to eat new dishes. However, my favourite starter (filo feta honey pastry) seems to have changed recipe and wasn’t as divine as when I first tried it in February. Decor is very comfortable too!

The food is really good but the portions are not very big especially for the price you pay. In addition we found out there was a 12% service tax in the bill which we were not expecting. We left the restaurant and we were still hungry but paid 26£ each for 1 Khachapuri, 2 main dishes, 1 dessert and a bottle of water.

Simply one of the best restaurants in Manchester. Menu, staff, wine and atmosphere are wonderful. We took friends this time and they were so impressed. Also, our first time eating out with our 8 month old and the staff could not have been more welcoming. We can't wait for our next visit!

I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back again. Since travel is still a bit restricted my partner and I decided to counterbalance this by experiencing food from different countries and first up was Armenia - we were not disappointed. We had the mushroom blini and lamb kofta to start, both of which were delicious. The blini was really light and the koftas were full of flavour. For main course we had chicken kiev with smooth, creamy mash and Armenian goulash, the lamb just fell apart and was so tender.

Wow this place is exceptional. Decor inside is homely and love the music, takes you straight back to Armenia. Family owned and everybody is really friendly and hospitable. Huge selection of both armenian and georgian wines which in my opinion are the greatest on earth. Lots of traditional dishes on the menu and everything we had was outstanding. Yerevan Khachapuri is a highlight and the meat starter platter was perfect. Khinkali were also full of flavour. Can't wait to return and try everything else they have to offer.

  • Kostas Eftaxias

It is literally one of the top 3 restaurants I've ever been in Manchester. The food was absolutely fantastic, with a wide range of choices in the menu. The service was extremely kind and friendly. We've booked a table for birthday occasion and the guys there brought some cake with candles even if we had not pre-arranged it. It was a great touch from them. As for the food itself, the dishes were amazing with big portions and very special taste. It is definitely worth many visits!!!

  • Ale Rubanu

A must dining experience in Manchester! My friend & I absolutely loved this place, it is what I call "a gem of a restaurant": family place with a very friendly & comfortable ambiance, and top notch service. The food is amazing (as you can see from the pictures below), and if I can recommend one dish that you CANNOT miss out on, I would say the Yerevan Khachapuri (photo 1): delicious! Going back soon with a bigger group of friends who like to explore & try new cuisines. #loveArmenia

Amazing family run restaurant! We ordered lamb chops and lamb skewers with chips. I would really recommend the skewers! The plates are big and food is very flavourful. We also tried Armenian baklava which was super interesting (stuffed with walnut and cinnamon on top). The staff were very nice, I would really recommend trying this restaurant. All food is halal as well, which is great!!

We visit every time we’re in Manchester. Fabulous cuisine, gorgeous restaurant and great music. Everything from the dishes and crockery to the ceiling is beautiful. Very friendly team and fantastic coffee. The rum baba is among the best desserts. Recommend for dinner though also works really well for early lunch/late brunch. Excellent location if you’re in Manchester city centre.

We ordered quite a lot for table of 2. There were not enough space on the table when the staff served us a new dish. As we were struggling with the space, instead of helping us, the staff handed the plate to me and left. We asked for water, two times before they served. First staff forgot. Staff checked on our neighbour's table for three times. And we got none.

Lovely place, with lots of great vegan options. I went there for my friend's bday last week and we had a great time. The food is amazing! If you are vegan make sure to try their hummus, baba ghanoush and falafel. We were served by a young man that unfortunately I didn't get the name, but he did a great job and made sure everything was perfect. I hope to come back again soon :)
