Opened in 1906, this station was originally named 'Gillespie Road'. After Arsenal Football Club moved to Highbury from Woolwich in 1913, a campaign began to rename the station after the football club. The station was eventually renamed 'Arsenal (Highbury Hill)' in 1932, after a campaign led by then-Arsenal FC manager Herbert Chapman. To this day, it remains the only tube station named after a football club.

Arsenal station is home to Arsenal football club and is just a 2 minute walk to the stadium. The Piccadilly line stops at this station. On matchdays the station is rammed with football fans and can take a while to get out & also get in to the station. On a normal day the station runs fine and staff are around to help.

Was looking for a personal trainer and found OPT in2getfit. On the Archway community card. He was very helpful and had a great deal of knowledge. He came with a lot of equipment and put on a very enjoyable training session. We trained in my local park and I’m looking forward to our next session.
