"What happened to the caring vet of many years, now just a money making racket with some of the Vets having no feelings or caring towards their patients what so ever, my mom took her dog in as had bad breath, was told that needed over R6000 for an op to remove some teeth, booked a date and sent dog home with some antibiotics and vet did not even examine the dog further just looked at the teeth, dog then started vomiting and we thought was reaction to the antibiotics, we then took the dog to my vet (incidentally we were with Ashburne for may years but after a few incidents with our own pets and having heard horror stories from our friends we moved ) our vet immediately checked the dogs gums and stomach and said that he felt something drastic was wrong , he immediately referred us to another reputable vet with scan and this vet broke the bad news that our baby dog had a massive tumour and already was in liver and kidney failure , he showed us that you could see the signs of something wrong from the gums , this special dog had to be euthanised today, the last thing we expected to happen and we are totally broken hearted"
I find this practice to have friendly staff, the hospital is clean and well maintained. My concern is the amount I was quoted and told it would cost to stitch my dogs eyelid. I paid the R2000 deposit and signed the respective documentation. When I went to fetch him I was given a bill of R1347 and told that this needed to be paid for my dog to be released when I asked for the VET only to be told that she had left. The only way for me to get my dog was to pay the balance. I then asked for the documents that I had signed only to see next to the R2500 an amendment with a figure of R3000 and not the R3347.70 they required me to settle in total. When I questioned why this differed and the amendment, I was told the R3000 did not include the consultation. On the invoice, the consultation costs R489 hence the total should then be R3489 as opposed to R3347.70. Something didn't add up and I asked that the VET call me to discuss the bill. I then get the sad explanation that the surgery done required more work than quoted hence the additional charge which was required. In principle, I would have expected this to be discussed with me. Reading through other reviews I seem to see a pattern of overcharging and them getting away with this. Wen we finally spoke I was told that the VET had 30 years experience, was a professional and that was her bill. I could use the services of another VET but she didn't think that would be able to quote me a figure and charge me the same figure. What she forgets is that her practice did quote me before on the same dog which required much more intense surgery and they charged me the quoted price. I do not have a problem with settling a bill i owe for work done but i have a problem, in principle, when you are cheated by changing figures on a document that you signed without your consent abd agreement. It is time people who call themselves professionals act responsibly and professionally. To hold a gun against my head and tell me you won't release my dog, is almost like saying to me that I need to leave my child with them overnight and come back to discuss the bill, reach common ground and then take him. To put the phone down on me whilst I was still talking to her demonstrates her 30 years if experience, knowledge and how she treats her customers. Maybe she should spend some time with her receptionist and helpers who demonstrate high levels of compassion and understanding. Businesses exist because of their customers. I am just one but hopefully one day she will see the light and understand my concerns raised. And just by the way, I'm also a professional and fo listen to my customers. It is through them that I exist. Josh, my dog, is fully recovered and I would pay even more for him to be ok but only to an ethical service provider!
I admitted the family fur-baby (Chloe) on the 23/12/2021 at this hospital. I paid R6000 upfront and agreed to make payments for whatever tests and treatments she required which cost an additional R6000. On the 26/12/2021 Chloe was still not responding to the agressive treatment and was not eating so then with heavy hearts we decided to not make her live painfully and send her off to dog heaven if she did not show signs of recovery by the next day. On the 27/12/2021, 9:00am when we went to Ashburne Veterinary Hospital to discuss this with the vet we were greeted with the most unprofessional receptionist: We were told that we should not have come because vets are busy and they will call us. I was in shock because their service hours is listed as 24 hours. Looks like 24 hour service is only available for new customers. We could have been told to come back in however many hours the vet needed to become available to consult with us but she turned us away like we were requesting free service. When I told her my mom and sister drove from Stanger to come do this and mentioned the distance she told me that I do not need to tell her the distance because her daughter travels to Stanger everyday. When I told her we don't know what we should do now because we cannot just go back home, she told us there is nothing she can do. I then got very frustrated as I paid for the services and I was being treated very rudely. I then demanded that they release Chloe to me immediately. I would have rather taken her to another vet who would have time to see us. Mariculously after I made that demand the receptionist was able to go to the back and speak to the vet who was able to consult with us 15 mins later. I hope no one would ever be made to feel helpless the way this receptionist made us feel.
Our Baby Hunter had injured his paw on our palisade fencing on Sunday 28th of July 2019. We were unable to get hold of any Vet, if we had only known about Ashburne 24hrs Clinic. So on Monday 29th of July we looked up all Vets that are close to us. But none of them did house visits there was some in the Verulam area that was extremely rude when we asked if they could come assist us, but none of them did house calls i wonder about the oath they took. Anyway my wife Elaine Naicker got hold of Ashburne Clinic and was put onto Dr Schoeman who immediately gave her advice and assistance, she then spoke to him on whatsapp showing him pictures of our boy. Dr Schoeman came to home of were he assessed Hunter and thereafter had to take hunter to the Clinic. He was very passionate about the way he handle everything. He also gave us professional advice. The surgery was done the very same day and we had received calls updating us of every step that had been done and on the progress of Hunter. The next day when i had went to visit i was told that Hunter had made excellent progress and that he would return home. i was extremely shocked and amazed to see how compassionate and loving all the staff at Ashburne Clinic are. They service is absolutely awesome and i would recommend them to all family and friends. So i dont know how others rated you guys so bad, but i guess its not about the money you have to pay when you need a loved one in the family tended to. From The Naicker Family Well done to All the Ashburne Team keep up the excellent work and God Bless.
We desperately needed an emergency vet on Tuesday night as it was clear our dog was in extreme distress. The only vet open near us at 8pm was Ashburn so we rushed our doll there. Reception staff were so kind and immediately attended to us. Dr. Brighton took in our dog for examination and we were advised ultimately that the diagnosis was extreme GDV/bloat. Our dog was kept overnight for treatment and we would be advised of her progress. The next morning we received the update we were dreading from Dr. Christine. When we went in on Wednesday morning, Dr. Christine explained our furbaby's bloat was extremely serious and had put alot of stress and strain on her internal organs. We knew that the complications were aggravated further because our doggie was 12 years old, so even surgery was not a guarantee of success. The compassion and care we received from the Ashburn staff gave me some comfort during one of the most horrendous decisions we ever had to make to euthanize Bella. I hung on to hope that she could pull through but while i could see clear evidence that the vets had done their best to alleviate her condition overnight, bella was still uncomfortable, in pain. And so we bid our heart goodbye as she was put to sleep. Dr Christine and Dr. Brighton thank you for helping us and bella. I couldn't thank you then because i just couldn't speak because my heart was broken. We appreciate your help.
What happened to the caring vet of many years, now just a money making racket with some of the Vets having no feelings or caring towards their patients what so ever, my mom took her dog in as had bad breath, was told that needed over R6000 for an op to remove some teeth, booked a date and sent dog home with some antibiotics and vet did not even examine the dog further just looked at the teeth, dog then started vomiting and we thought was reaction to the antibiotics, we then took the dog to my vet (incidentally we were with Ashburne for may years but after a few incidents with our own pets and having heard horror stories from our friends we moved ) our vet immediately checked the dogs gums and stomach and said that he felt something drastic was wrong , he immediately referred us to another reputable vet with scan and this vet broke the bad news that our baby dog had a massive tumour and already was in liver and kidney failure , he showed us that you could see the signs of something wrong from the gums , this special dog had to be euthanised today, the last thing we expected to happen and we are totally broken hearted. Called Ashburne to report this and have not heard from anyone... disappointed does not even begin to explain how we feel..
On Wednesday night, 10 August 2022, my Maltese poodle, SUGAR, bit her tongue so bad. It wouldn't stop bleeding. The only vet available and closest to us at that time of night was Ashburne Veterinary Hospital. Her dad and I rushed her to the hospital. We were so worried because she had already lost so much of blood in that short space of time but the friendly, compassionate and helpful vets that were on duty that night acted so quickly in treating her that when we phoned later that night to check up on her, the friendly, kind and helpful receptionist relayed a message from the vet to us that said, "SUGAR is doing well, she has already had her stitches done and the bleeding has stopped." Even the day staff that were on duty the next morning (11 August 2022) when we went to fetch her, were so friendly and helpful. Thank you Ashburne Veterinary Hospital. You saved our sweet girl. She is doing so well thanks to you all. You guys are truly God's angels on earth to our precious fur babies and us, their parents as well. God bless you all for the outstanding and excellent work you do. But above all...THANK YOU for the compassion and concern you showed towards us in our time of desperate need.
If I could rate Ashburne 10 stars, I would! My dog fell seriously ill within a few days. I took him to a vet near my house on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. She put him on drips and administered anti nausea injections. My dog deteriorated after these visits. He had become extremely thin, was not eating at all and had severe vomiting and diarrhea. He could barely keep his eyes open and stand on his own. On Tuesday, I went to another vet and he referred me to Ashburne. My dog was admitted on Tuesday at Ashburne. Each day I would get calls informing me on his progress. I kid you not, in a matter of just 2 days, he had recovered completely. He was such a ball of energy when we fetched him. He had put on some weight and had started eating on his own. The service we received was excellent. The staff were absolutely amazing and very warm and loving. Another aspect I was highly pleased about was that every detail of his treatment was indicated on the invoice so we knew exactly what was being paid for. To the staff of Ashburne Veterinary Hospital, on behalf of my dog, Diesel, I thank you for the outstanding service and bringing him back to life! ♥️
The most useless vet ever I rushed my baby bird because he could not breath nicely. When I got there the lady said they going to put him in oxygen when the vet is ready to see us she will come call us so I said ok no problem 40 mins later they called us in then the vet says oh your bird is going to die if we don't keep him here on oxygen with no sympathy what so ever and he says your Grey bird is blue and he did blood tests. So I asked who said you can do a blood test and why is my bird blue then other vet took me to see my baby and he was not blue and the so called oxygen was just a cupboard box with a small tube and a blanket over the box. When I saw that it was just a cupboard box I said no I can't leave my baby in a box I will take him to other vet. And they charged me R1200 for that. I just drove down the road and my bird sadly passed away. Please if you love ur babies don't take them there the vets don't know how to speak the ladies that work there are rude. When my baby passed away I called them to tell them and they just cut the call on me.
Initially when I had to take my dog in who is 13 years old, they were happy to see me quickly..... Upon examination I was quoted between R2500-R3000 for xrays etc. On second thoughts due to my baby's age we decided against having him put under. When I went to pick him up I was kept waiting as the vet was pricing everything up. I was antibiotics and anti-inflammotories as well as blood work, deworm and vaccination to be served a bill of R4500. I was mortified as we had not discussed that figure. I of course paid. When I phoned the vet 4 days ago as he is still not better, I was told that they are very busy and the vet would call me back. Still waiting. Seems to me they care more about money than anything else. I wanted to ask a question to rule something out.... Would rather have paid that money to the Spca.... Very disappointed. Word to the manager/owner..... Not everyone lives in Glenashley and you should not allow prices to be made up on what you think you can squeeze out of people..... Be clear about what things cost and be up front...
Extortionate forced upfront costs. No care for animals. I’ve been into this veterinary clinic a couple times and it is clear they have no interest in helping animals, they are only interested in the money the can make. Because they are one of the only 24hour clinics, if you come in after hours they will tell you that you need to pay 5-7k upfront before they will even look at your pet. Seems like this is common practise if you read other reviews. This is a disgraceful practice as they are abusing the fact they are the only ones open. I recommend that you find another vet for either daytime or after hours. Ashbourne Vet you are an absolute disgrace and should be ashamed of your predatory practices. Edit: You can see by their copy paste reply to this review that they really don’t care. Why is it that so many people have had negative experiences during after hours visits over the years? And yet nothing has been done about it?
Absolutely ridiculous, my boyfriend and I just lost our 7 month old baby a few hoursago, he was so sick as the vet said he ate something, not knowing what we went through as my boyfriend got robbed not long ago, or how we came to the stage of my boyfriend not having money to save our little one, the vet was blaming us while our puppy was dying on the table only concerned about if we have the money for instant payment then he can help us...appalled on losing our little one, we didn't say anything to the vet, but honestly you can't blame a person on their small one getting sick if you don't know the situation, not something any fur baby parent should go through while witnessing your small baby dying if they were really concerned they would have saved our baby regardless of money, people say they care so much about animals yet they make money on even saving them, I know we all need to male money but seriously...
I am sorry I never tried harder to avoid this vet in an emergency situation. 10 years ago, the vet botched the home euthanasia of our very old dalmatian and left him in pain for over an hour, suffering, while the injection took effect and refused to come back to use more to actually put him out his pain. This was traumatic for everyone. This week we used them in an emergency on a Sunday for a laceration and what regret we are filled with. They never once applied a proper cross bandage on the dog to try prevent it from just slipping off, R4000 later for cleaning and bandaging that wasn't done correctly, no stitches to even close the wound and then want us to keep coming back practically everyday for new bandages and to pay for this when they're not doing it properly. Zero customer service and overpriced for the service you receive. I will definitely make sure to never use them again, and good luck to those who do!
Took my dog in cause she had been injured. I paid R2000 just to admit her. After few days I was told she could not be stitched cause the wound could become infected. They had to treat her around 3 times which costed R1250 per treatment. I then went and saw one of the doctors after the third day to check what is the outcome, she advised me the wound has healed by 97 and they can now do stiching. I asked the doctor how much money should I budget in total for everything. She told me me around R6000. I advised her to proceed. As I already paid R2000. After the aperation I called in to find out what is the out come and what is the final bill, they advised everything was successful and the bill is R7402 in total for mediction. When I went to pick the dog they gave me an invoice of an amount above R11 000. I was not told that the bill will land me R11 000. These people should of told me initially what am I budgeting.
This is a highly monetized institution.... all they care about is money and not the well being of your pet first. I currently took my little Boston terrier pup of 3 months to them because she fell and had a slight fracture and so the leg had to be bandaged... but due to the incompetency and poor workmanship of their staff members my dogs bandage was coming off like a glove and apparently I had to pay for a bandage change again just because they couldn’t do a good job the first time... I called them today to let them know what discomfort the poorly applied bandage is causing my dog and nothing was done by them to rectify their wrong. So I took matters into my own hands and removed that bandage only to find out that her paw is sore with an open wound and that they just covered it up with the bandage and said nothing to me about it. If you really care about your pet. Don’t go to this vet!
Been to this horrendous place with my baby (cat) and all they wanted was cash upfront. I would have sold my wedding ring to fit the bill and they stopped treatment on him. Its disappointing to know that people actually support this vet. They only worry about money, they have no regards for the fact that these so called pets that we have is actually our babies not pets. My baby passed away today due to treatment being stopped due to less funds. My baby was not a pet, he was my baby. This vet had no sympathy to help or assist where ever and how ever he could. It was all about the money. The middle and poor class can't afford to save their babies and some vets live a guilt free life knowing very well that they didn't do their best to save someone's baby. I am very upset right now about the poor horrendous service we had. Will never go there again cause I can't trust them with our babies.
A family members pet required veterinary attention due to a laceration on his front right paw. Ashburne was recommended by myself as the nearest emergency vet. The laceration was approximately 4 cm in length with an approximate depth of 0.5cm. The veterinarian decided that the pet needed to be sedated. The pets condition deteriorated substantially afterwards, and it was suggested by the vet that he was poisoned. The contradiction lay by which the veterinarian initially advised that the pet was received in order, besides the laceration. It is heartbreaking taking a beloved pet for treatment and not returning home with them. The responses by the treating vet were evasive and the standby vet arrogant with no sense of accountability and an heir of invincibility. A bill was forwarded with an addition of R1000 to the amount initially discussed. R.I.P Taffie 2020/12/16, Approx. 18:15
I went into the vet on a sunday after noon.. the reception and the vet himself were very professional and friendly. I explained to the vet what was wrong with my pup, . seeing as my pup didnt look that sick when we got there as he was when we were at home.. I was told he has a "bug" .. I was charged obviously and given something to put into my pups mouth and told he would be fine. After going home he was ok for a while and then all the symptoms were back. No energy, diarrhea. No appetite.. at half pass 5 on Monday morning I called again and the vet told me that because its after hours the consult will be r1000! As if money was on mind at that time!! my pup couldn't hold his head up and by 6am I was holding his lifeless body.. so obviously it wasnt just a "bug" and I was told.. very disappointed and heartbroken..
Took my rabbit to see the after hours vet, as most vets are not used to exotics I asked him if he had done many rabbits. He said he a hadnt done many then uses a book to diagnose her.He told us she needed invasive surgery that we could not afford and we ask if there were other options. If she needs surgery and he has done "9 or 10 rabbit: should we take her to a vet with more experience? He stopped trying to treat her and actually shouted at me that my rabbit was "going to die" and that us asking him to help her was asking him "to be God." Why would you recommend surgery if you know the animal is going to die, why put her through that? I cannot believe a Vet yelled and me, had no compassion for us and our bun and did tell us honest and kindly if they felt that our bun would not make it even if we operated.
Horrendous experience, took my pet on a public holiday, R3000 later for a misdiagnoses, next day pet deteriorated, went in again for follow up consultation also after hours call as it was an emergency, they requested R6000 upfront to book her in, we were informed she had a throat infection and a blockage in the stomach, non of this was true as we found out from another vet, they sent me another account for R1200 for the follow up, I refused to pay this as they nearly killed my pet. They then handed me over to the credit burea for not paying the R1200. I have been a local member of this community all my life and have supported this vet for years purchasing all my pet food for 3 pets, so short sighted of them. They are a complete rip off and do not deserve support from our community. Alan Heath.
This place is a complete disappointment. I rushed my bird here after hours and was ever ready to pay the high price as I value my bird how ever, every single there seemed to be another expense with NO feedback from the vet. Eventually I wanted my bird out and when consulting with one of the vets (a female) she claims that she does not deal with birds? LOL. But , I'm sorry how is someone a qualified vet if she doesn't "touch" birds as she stated. Furthermore, I didn't ask for her to touch him. All I wanted was feedback on how he was doing but she didn't have his file. Eventually after a few days I got him out of there and it's the best decision I've made . Dr Gustav Botha is the only one who seems to care around there and if your pet is in danger you should ask for him specifically.
Good morning I just wanted to say a special thank you to the amazing team at Ashburne clinic. on the 11/06/2022 we took our beloved Olly for a second opinion and upon arriving we was welcomed by most loving and caring ladies at front desk. Olly was very sick and unable to walk they assisted us by bringing a stretcher and from the our vehicle to the examining room this kind heartened person whom I forgot to get her name accompanied us. the vet Dr Nerintha was gracious, kind, patient and so sympathetic and she explained what we needed to know in detailed she gave peace of mind because sadly we had put Olly off to sleep the same day. I have to commend the team from start to finish, they all was so wonderful. Thank you for the outstanding service. With Kind Regards Mirinda Gounden
A huge thank you to all the amazing staff for your passion and hard work. From arrival I was assisted by super helpful, kind people at reception to the moment I left having the most amazing nurse discharging my dog, patiently answering all questions in detail and making me feel at ease. And in between all of that, Luigi was treated with incredible care, arriving home looking like I never thought was possible after having a pretty bad bite. I was phoned each morning with an update and always given so much time, patience and kindness by staff. On top of all of this, the estimate I received on arrival was almost exactly what I landed up paying. Highly recommend taking your pet to this amazing Veterinary Hospital.
Too many emergencies to cope with appointments and enquiries. Being an emergency vet is not a good enough reason to make people wait an hour for a vet. Also, why hire foreigners who cannot speak English well enough to give a clear diagnosis and plan of treatment. Don’t waste your time going here. One or two amazing vets here but they talk too much or make you wait an hour to see them. Vet management please wake up. Asked for a copy of an X-ray and that too cannot be done in 24th hours. Excuse is that they’re too overwhelmed. Simple maths guys hire more help and more competent help too. Never again will I go here. Rather drive to Westville vet for an emergency. I gave you guys too many chances. Bye.
Absolutely horrific service. The rudest and most difficult people we have ever dealt with. Dr Pillay and Diane caused nothing but drama for us when all we wanted to do was get our pets injuries attended to. We got given a R5000 bill and walked away not knowing what was wrong with our cat, when even a complete fool could see he had a problem with his leg. All they did was cause unnecessary stress to our animal as well as us. We took our pet to Westville vet and straight away they identified the problem which Ashburne could not identify. We were made out to be difficult customers for simply wanting updates and some common decency and respect from the staff at Ashburne. I will not be going back.
my dog was run over on Friday morning 2nd Oct and i was quoted 5000 to sort him out with an overnight stay pending 2500 deposit. later that same day they called me telling me he was ready for collection with a bill of 6900. I was told to bring him back on the Monday for a bandage change 780. Monday comes 7 phone calls later i manage to collect my dog. I was continually asking what i need to do going forward, no answers just bring him back in 5 day for another bandage change. the service i received was sub standard especially for that price. I have moved to La Lucia vet, they are extremely helpful and show a level of respect and professionalism that i didn't experience at Ashburne
Complete disappointment. Firstly paid around R6000.00 due to a fracture. Secondly told by the staff of the vet it would cost us between R500-R700 to change the bandage once a week for my dog. Go through yesterday morning told to leave the dog at the clinic as the dog will only be ready in the afternoon however 30min later the dog was ready to be picked up after getting back home. Waste of our petrol whereas we could of just waited. And also told its going to now cost us R700-R1000. What is with the price change or is it an easy way to make extra cash? And adding lack of communication from staff we have to keep phoning to get answers so no one in this clinic is even intrested
I am very grateful to have my puppy back at home but disgusted at what i had to do in order to get him back. Troubles was taken to the vet by a kind hearted person who found him. When i finally got news of his whereabouts and went to fetch him, I was told I will have to pay R395 to take him home. He did not spend the night nor was he given a bath or grommed that i had to pay that amount. If i was charged for the food that he was fed for supper that would have been fine but R395 IS UNACCEPTABLE. The vet then tells me if i had come for him tomorrow it would have been double that amount because that is their daily fee.——highly not a recommended clinic
Unpleasant and unhygienic experience, we were in a hurry to help our special boy as he was attacked by monkeys. Unfortunately we had to take him elsewhere the next day as he was still in major pain, where he got the right treatment. I noticed another review from a month ago with the exact situation. We paid over R1300 for our dog to be looked at, given medication and told to come back in 3/4 days time. Our local vet was disappointed that his chest wound was left open and his bigger bite on his leg was just bandaged. Both were stitched up the very next day. If in emergency, it has been suggested to us that we should have taken him to Sherwood.
Before you take your loved animal too this vet do yourself a favor and read the negative feedback they receive. They are just another money hungry vet with no empathy for animals. Our dog had a fight with a monkey which resulted in the dog being bitten in multiple places. They have ignorant staff who do not know what they are doing and didn't give the dog the care he needed. They unhygienic materials and equipment with other animals blood on it. We found out today when going to our normal vet that he actually needed stitches and his torn ligament needs desperate attention. Shame on these fools. I hope no one supports them.
Krishna anthony I did his sterilizing today at Ashbourne Veterinary Hospital. Krishna my 3year old yorkie. I was very afraid to neuter him cause he is very small in size. All the staff very friendly and helpful. The doctors are very friendly as well. I would like to thank all the staff and doctors for a wonderful work they are doing. I personally have seen alot of passion and the effort they are putting in. Also explaining to the people about their dogs. I will definitely be taking my male morkie Samson next year for neutering. Excellent work to all of you. It was my first time by yourl and wow I'm so impressed ❤️
I took my puppy to the ashburn vet clinic on Easter Friday as he had been attacked by another dog and required stiches, the vet charged us R1776 for examining him, give him medication and shaving half his face! She did not even stitch him up and requested that we should wait until the wound drys up and bring him back on Tuesday! On Tuesday I took him to our local vet, he was extremely disappointed as to why the wound was left open and not treated by the vet. These people are only interested in money, and the way they look. Don’t waste your money and time. Try the Sherwood clinic for an after hour emergency!
Worse after hours experience ever. Sunday morning rushed my really sick fur kid there and was told she has a cancerous tumor in her stomach. The vet who never introduced himself to us didn't even care about my dog suggested surgery but wasn't to keen to save her or do the operation. After waiting 1hr, finally they bought her out for me to take her to Westville vet hospital to get a second opinion ,I am so glad I did . Surgery went well and she doesn't have cancer. I think Ashburn vet staff should all go back to training and I will never recommend or use them again. Only interested in money....
this establishment is a joke. i will never recommend them to anyone who has a pet . the lack of professionalism an fake attitudes towards there passion for animals is disgusting, they just use the ill faith of our animals to churn money. Dr Botha asked us for a large upfront payment and our pet is still ill,he avoided our calls and charged us for test that were never done ,and when asked for the results ,the file was lost. we continued to ask for feedback for over two weeks and with no response ,only when we informed them we will be taking legal action they decide to return our calls.
Phoned at about 5 a.m as my dog was breathing extremely heavily. I was just asked the same questions over and over again. I wonder if New Year's Eve had anything to do with it, or if the person was just tired. 3 times the guy asked me when the panting started. And not because he couldn't hear me. I responded clearly each time and he acknowledged my answee. It was like he would just forget. He also asked me 3 times if I gave him any medication, and asked me twice how old he was. I don't want to make accusations but it was extremely odd behaviour. Needless to say I just hung up.
I took my cat in on Friday for urine test - they charged me R1200 for emergency public holiday fees, they could not get a sample and set my cat home, the Dr told me to get a sample and refrigerate it, I did so and took it in, the nurse was so rude in telling me it cannot be refrigerated, she sent me back without a new tub but the old tub fill of pee and expects me to bring in another sample, do you want me to cup my hands and bring it in like that? And it is now Tuesday, and still nothing but hurry up and pay only to forget about why you asked us to pay on the first place
1st January 2022 my furbaby was hit by a car in a hit and run! I rushed him to Ashburne where everyone, the lovely ladies at the front desk, the nurses in the back and the vets on duty, were absolutely amazing! His pelvis had been ripped from his spine, but because it was New Years Day, and the Animal Hospital's Surgery Department only opened on the 3rd January - Ashburne kept him stable, pain free and comfortable enough to wait those 3 days before he could be pinned back together! I cant thank you enough for getting my boy (AND ME) through the traumatic experience!
Doesn't seem to care about animals health, I called in saying I need assistance immediately, got there with a kitten barely breathing and all they could worry about was paperwork and eating popcorn while the cat completely stopped breathing and died in front of them with not one person assisting us for 15 mins then after he passed away a vet came and said she's sorry it died and she won't charge consultant but they can cremate for a fee. I've seen so many horrible reviews about then and still thought better of then until now.
Sunday, 17 October 2021, we brought in our cat. Told we would have to pay R5000 up front. We indicated we did not have that amount right then and asked if they would accept a deposit and a later settling of the bill. Overheard a behind door dicussion in which a member of staff said " We can't help it if they are poor, then they must do nothing". Not what you want to hear from people who care about animals. When reading reviews on Blue Peter, this unfortunately seems to he a common occurrence.
Our three year old long haired Dashund Ozzie, came to Ashburn with an unknown illness that had puzzled almost every vet in Durban and seriously threatened his life. When Ozzie met Phillip , there was an instant love between vet and dog. Phillip did everything to assess his condition , collecting the history from all the vets Ozzie had been to. By some incredible miracle Ozzie is now thriving. Philip is the most caring , brilliant vet and we cannot recommend him highly enough !
First vet clinic that I have ever been to that charges a consultation fee to take off a bandage that was put on and heavily charged for, in the initial consultation. Not a pleasant experience at all. Wish I'd checked recommendations on Facebook first as it seems there are many good vets in the area. It is worth noting that the other vets in the area, show recommendations and the star ratings given, on their Facebook pages. Ashburne does not, hmm wonder why
Summer was vomiting and taken to this 24 hour vet practice. Vet requested that we pay R3500 upfront to keep Summer overnight without examining her at all. The rest of the consult was about various fees and charges with emphasis placed on the extra charge for Sundays after 1pm. Summer died when the vet eventually started examining her, on injecting her. She was only 4 years old. Traumatic experience. First and definitely the last visit.
Thank you for assisting me on a Public Holiday weekend with my cat Tchuwee. A huge thank you to the Veterinarian and staff on duty on the 16th of April that helped us. They were all very helpful and helped us through the very difficult decision to euthanised her. Everything were explained to me. I collected her Ashes a week later and the staff were just as helpful and compassionate, Thank you very much for Excellent Service, Lizle.
We took our bullterrier in for a consultation this morning.2 hours later after various tests and having paid the bill of R5300 he is still in such pain.As they advertise a 24 hrs service I have tried the after hours number 25 times to get some guidance or advice.I have also send a sms to the cell no that they give as the contact no.No response at all. This is shocking to say the least.
I am writing this on behalf of a friend who took his dog in because it was battling to walk and not eating. The vets here want to charge him R8000 for x-rays and a blood test! Well this is absolute daylight robbery. He can't afford this so his dog goes untreated. The people who are meant to help animals have sadly fallen short of their mission. Or was it just to make money?
Superb service and care for pets. Sometimes pets can be a handful especially when they know they are going to the vet. The staff takes the awkwardness out of the entire process with being understanding of pets odd behaviour. Vet is of the highest quality always putting the health of the dog right at the top of their priorities. Never too busy too take care of your pet.
I'm in Sweden visiting my son and grandchildren! Our fur baby Buzz, got sick and my Tenant took him to another Vet and they just gave him meds! He deteriorated and he was taken to Ashburne Vet, who immediately admitted and put him on drips etc. He is stable and on the mend! We'll be home on Saturday! Thank you to our Tenant Sarah and the staff and Vets at Ashburne.
The staff were extremely caring in helping us identify and track the home of a little lost dog, Scotty. Scanning the chip in Scottys neck and calling his owner took them approximately 3 minutes. . Scotty was offered a biscuit and kept there until the owner arrived. You are truly animal lovers. God bless you all.
Thank you to all your staff on duty on the 24th of October 2019.The love and care that was expressed to my family and my beloved Milo was outstanding, his last few hours were heartbreaking but he was painfree and comfortable. ...he was part of our family for 17 years and will be sorely missed. Thank you to all and God bless you.
My gratitude and admiration to the team of Vets and their staff at this wonderful hospital for the treatment and care given to our beloved Schnauzer Mitzi. We have only experienced kindness and empathy in the most professional manner. We will be forever grateful to Drs Botha and Christine for their help and advice at a times.
Be careful of costs and they rip you off. Took my pup there a few weeks ago and got whipped with a R6900 bill for an overnight stay and a few x-rays. Treatment recommended would have resulted in excessive bills to the tune of +-R25k which was actually not required. Had to pursue the vet to get the report on what was done...
I have not personally visited the vet as a client or "parent of the patient", but I have interacted with them. The place is neat and clean, service is good. They show care and compassion when dealing with animals. I cannot comment further as I have not dealt with the business more than that, but the experience was good.
The doctors and support staff always take such good care of my elderly cat. The vetenerians are very professional and their assistants really gentle . Also a bonus that these dedicated staff keep the practice open 24/7. Thank you Ashburne for looking after my Brownie cat (aka Ginger). From Ginger du Toit Mom. …
Rip off! R5000 to sedate kitten and keep for 12 hrs!! They only about money and wanted to charge me R30000 for an operation that they couldnt and weren't trained to do. They wnated to take a chance with my kittens life. Specialist charged me R8000!!!!! Bunch of money hungry theives Not about the animals anymore
The most compassionate kind and caring vetenarian I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. My beautiful Spice, the way they all cared and kept me up to date and did everything they could to make him better. Even the dreaded phone call that was made to me I could feel the compassion in the Vets voice !!
Very poor service they do not keep to appointment times and do not keep you updated with progress. My pet was seen 20mins after her appointment time, and now an hr later I'm still waiting for an update, very unorganized. For the fees they charge one would assume the service would be on par
I’ve had the best experience with Ashburne Veterinary Hospital!! Their staff are so friendly and welcoming. I had an emergency late afternoon and they assisted me as I got there. They kept me updated throughout the night until I had to pick my fur baby up! Thank you to your amazing team!
Brought in my puppy & found out he had Parvovirus. The Veterinarian then advised us on what the best treatment would be, and was very helpful. After all the treatment & visits to them, Chalky fully recovered! Staff was very helpful & Friendly. Great team! Would definitely recommend them.
R4000 x2 appointments for bandages done badly not one stitch yet. Then when bandage pulling off next day want to charge another fee. Awful vets. Not first bad experience either. Going to another vet to get done properly. They even brought out the wrong dog. Would never go there again.
We had to take our cat in on a Sunday and am just so happy to have found this practice. At our time of worry we were comforted by their friendly and professional service. We now have our dear cat at home with us recovering from small op. Thank you to all at Ashburne Veterinary Clinic.
We had an emergency visit last night after our dog got caught in a snare on the beach and Ashburne Vet were the closest open vet to us. The team at Ashburne were fantastic in assisting quickly and even phoned this morning to check up on our dog. We are so grateful to you, thank you!
Shocking my daughter and son in law arrived with their sick border Collie to be turned away. Vet on duty walked past them to retrieves cell phone charger from the car and informed them too busy to examine their puppy. Now on their way to Westville Vet for a consultation
No proper treatment was offered... My dog was not tested for anything besides parvo and after consulting other vets it was brought to my notice that dogs with the flu are a positive match for parvo... Would never recommend them or be taking any of my other pets there.
If I could give them no stars I would, charged me R1,000 consult and wanted to keep my cat overnight for "drip" with a R8,000 "deposit". My first and last!!! So much for saving animals, money greedy business people is all I can say. Should be ashamed of yourselves!
These guys really are amazing! It can't be easy running a 24-hour vet, but they do, and they do it well! They really do care for the animals coming in - that is plain for all to see. Thank you guys for the excellent care and attention that you gave to Iris! …
Never again its all about the money 6000 dep and add daily as its to little for bloods and xray paid the 6000 as agreed now its up to 7400 they wont allow us to pick him although the 6000 has been paid and this is for a drip and catheter no bloods or xray
Good veterinary clinic. They can be busy at times and the place is a bit cramped but they do stock all the pet supplies, prescription foods and ordinary foods etc. We take our cat there for around 10 years and always receive good treatment and advice.
Absolutely amazing staff!! They've helped my kids and I through a very traumatic time and made it that much easier, not only by trying their level best to save our beloved, but making saying goodbye to him, that much easier. Thank you guys so much.
Every person who is a part of Ashburne Veterinary Clinic was helpful, kind and compassionate. Made my cat feel so comfortable and loved whilst examining her. Would recommend pet owners to take their fur babies here for the best quality treatment.
Very good veterinary practice. The staff are friendly and they are all animal lovers. The vets that practice here are thorough and caring and offer the best advice. We have been using Ashburne for many years now and they have never let us down.
We had been to the vet to purchase some oralade. Valerie was rude and behaved like my husband and i were thrash. She spoke to us rudely and made us feel like we were irrelevant. We were so disgusted with her attitude and service we received
Our dog had intense vomiting and diarrhea, we took her in at around 1am afterhours and the care and compassion she recieved was exceptional. All necessary tests were taken and she was medicated and treated appropriately. She has woken up
Think twice before taking your sick pet to this place!! They push for blood tests to be done which comes at a huge price instead of providing treatment to your pet. Despicable service and no help whatsoever!!!
DO NOT USE THIS VET. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING! They can never diagnose any pet properly. I suggest taking a drive up to Watercrest vet. The Vet is a specialist and actually knows what he is doing.
Love the staff here. They have always been friendly, caring and 100% dedicated to the well being of the rescues we have brought in. One of the busiest practices I know and they handle the pressure so well.
24 hour care for furry kids. Great selection of dog accessories, good, toys, collars etc at resonable prices. The front office staff are always friendly and willing to help. The Veterinarians are awesome.
Not a fan of the vets over here they unfriendly they dissappear with you dog to the back room and return saying they have done all sorts and your bill will always blow you away compare to other places
Most unless vet... Just want money upfront... Always money upfront and after a little while they call to say the pet won't make it they have to put it to sleep... If I could give a zero star I would.
Really had a good experience with our puppies during an emergency visit after hours at the clinic. Dr Botha was efficient and very kind. The right place to bring your pets for after hour emergencies.
Just there for the money, took my dog in on Sunday R1800 later and she is still as sick as she was, and they wanted to do all these extra things for more money, will take her to our regular Vet...
A big thank you to all the Staff at Ashburne, especially to Dr Jackie for her advise, and caring spirit and comforting words, and to Devika at the front desk, a huge thank you for your assistance.
Fast and efficient service. The kind lady that helped us could have made up an illness and charged us for consultation and meds. But she informed us it was just heat stroke and what must be done
Amongst the best in Durban for emergency 24hr veterinarian care and general check-ups. They are a bit expensive although this makes sense after experiencing the service and facilities at hand.
Needed assistance with removal of a bone lodged in the jaw of my pet dog. Was willingly assisted by the friendly staff and vet of Ashburne Clinic. Thank you so much for the excellent service
What a wonderful experience..this practice loves animals and re assured me that my furbaby was in good hands. Thanks for awesome care. I have utmost confidence in your care for my babies
The best veterinary hospital I've been to... Staff and wonderful helpful and above all compassionate... They treat our little fur babies with the utmost care and professionalism..
I took my fur baby twice and on both occasions my baby was at a dangerous point in his life and thanks to Ashburne I have my healthy happy baby back.youll are my hero's
dont ever use this money making establishment they are the worst pet care people in the area. If you value your pet and your bank account run a mile away from here!
Wonderful service. Friendly staff. Willing to help with any queries I have. Not to mention that they take good care of my fur babies. Dr. Klaus is simply the best!
if u do not have medical aid then be prepared to pay big time. highly expensive for my liking and the reason i went was for emergencies. paid 14000.00 for 3 dogs
Very lovely staff , and the vet was fantastic, was thorough ,friendly and very helpful in tending to our puppy's emergency. Absolute pleasure of an experience
Loving, caring incredible team of people who took the greatest care of my fur-child. Huge respect for the wonderful drs, nurses and staff at Ashburne Vet.
I took my Dog Jade for a opp, it was successful, however it turn sore after a while. I took her back n she was kept for a week, came out perfectly fine.
Thank you to N Nadasen and Solita pillay and Dr Bartlett you guys have shown so much dedication love and care to my baby Coby today. Godbless you guys.
Dr Gustav is an amazing professional. Thank you for your assistance with Jesse the golden retriever. Ashburne Veterinary Clinic is value for money.
I'd rather give it a negative 10 all they did was milk money and take advantage of a situation instead of making the animals life the priority
Dr Pillay & Dr Dala were kind, patient & thorough. Sue at Reception could be a counsellor. Their work is definitely not just a job to them.
Awesome service, great staff and one amazing vet thank you so much Gustav for sorting my little boy out so quickly you just amazing!!!
Excellent E.R service 24 hours a day. Very friendly staff. Even saw a tiny little duckling there getting treatment for a broken wing.
Thank you Ashburn for helping my little Enzo, Gustav was incredible aswell as front of staff. They all working very hard. Well done !
Friendly and caring. My fur kids are always treated with love. I feel like part of the family. Thanks to everyone at Ashburne.
