I've been an NHS patient here for many years. I've had various fillings (both white and amalgam), root canal work, and a crown. All of this at very reasonable prices compared to non NHS prices. This practice just gets better and better. The premises are clean, airy, and have a welcoming feeling. Appointments are generally kept on time, with very little over-run. The reception staff are very friendly and efficient. I see Dr. Sharifa Ansari. She is a lovely gentle dentist, very thorough in her examinations, and always ready to answer questions and offer dental advice. She is great at putting one at ease. She has a friendly and helpful dental nurse assisting her. I particularly like her tiny head torch which doesn't dazzle the patient whilst she's working. I have no hesitation in recommending Ashley Down Dental Care as a first class dental practice. Review updated April 2023: The practice continues to offer excellent service. Sharifa has moved on. I have had excellent treatment from both Katie Moore and Alice Fleming.

As a nervous patient, I have to say becoming a patient at this practice has completely changed my phobia. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the exceptionally friendly reception staff, apprehension quickly dissolves to calm. I explained to the receptionist Louise that I was nervous and hadn’t been to a dentist for years as a result. She very calmly reassured me and made the extra effort to walk around from the desk and guide me up the few steps to the waiting area where I took a seat and was ask if I was ok. She was completely right, the experience was completely pleasant and the practice thoroughly clean. I’m so glad I went and with the extra assistance from reception, which is some of the best service I’ve experience. It’s true what they say, the first steps are the hardest, but not when you helped. Thanks Louise and all at Ashley down dental care, I can well and truly smile again.

I have been going to see Karen Tse from this practice for several years and couldn't be happier. I am a difficult patient as I have hyper sensitive teeth and dentists often have trouble numbing me. I also react to the adrenaline in injections so need to have one without; and on top of this I'm pretty nervous and anxious due to past traumatic experiences. I'm probably immensely frustrating to treat but Karen is always very gentle and caring. She gets the work done quickly and I've never experienced any trouble with work she has carried out. My only slight gripe is that after I book an appointment, there is generally a 50% chance they'll text me to say it's been cancelled and I need to book another. This is something to do with the management of the clinic and not a reflection on the quality of the dentistry. Frankly I'll put up with this for a dentist who doesn't make me feel like a freak.

So pleased with this dentist , I googled lowest price dentist in Bristol and this one came first on the list and I checked out their practice/prices and I never googled any other ones as I like what I saw . Gosh I’m so pleased I followed my gut feeling and now I have a wonderful new set of very reasonably priced half denture plate of my two front teeth and some at each side . I was so happy when it was brought to my attention they have a machine rather putting that putting that putty in your mouth which always makes me heave to make a cast of your teeth. I also felt very comfortable on my visit being I haven’t much teeth left . When first fitted they didn’t exactly feel good but the dentist assured me they will soon feel like your own and he was so right and people have commented how good they look . From a very happy customer indeed treated by Frederick .

I was going here for years, being told everything fine, never missing a check up. Moved house and moved dentists. They were appalled at the state of my gums. My bone has deteriorated by 20%. This did not happen in the 6 months since I last visited Ashley Down, it has been going on for years and was never picked up. I saw three different dentists at this place and not one of them mentioned this. I'm so glad I left because my new dentist told me I would've lost teeth if this hadn't have been picked up. Honestly they don't care at Ashley Down. The person saying they had a pleasant experience- you had a pleasant experience because they aren't picking up your problems. Don't go here if you are serious about your dental health.

Terrible care - avoid. My husband took my 7 year old son in from school after he had had an accident. His mouth was full of blood and we weren't sure if he had damaged his font teeth. They refused to see as they didn't have any appointments and said to come back next week!! My son was very distressed. My husband said he was happy to wait or see another dentist. They said as he wasn't registered with another dentist so he wasn't allowed to see one. My husband carried him down the road to Oasis Dental Care and they saw him immediately (we have been going there ever since). When I called to complain the receptionist was rude and didn't apologise. I asked to speak to the manager and was fobbed off with an excuse.

Good morning , Please could you possibly pass on Katie Moore and her assistant practitioner in providing an excellent treatment during my visit today to relief pain. All through the process and procedure assured given the outcome and plan So far its has been the best dental practice I ever visited. I had a fantastic appointment with the hygienist who was very knowledgable and friendly. I had noticed progressive staining on my teeth and could not understand the cause. The hygienist pointed out that it was actually my mouthwash that was causing the issue, which I never would have recognised. After doing a fantastic job removing the staining I have been left with a much improved smile that was desperately needed in time for my wedding. I cannot sing her praises enough and would highly recommend her for anyone struggling with similar issues.

From the outset, a complete and thorough clinical assessment was carried out, details of the procedure fully explained and the procedure itself was very professionally done in steps. Just the best dentist! So lucky to have them. When my son damaged his tooth, got him him in the next day and monitored tooth ever since. So friendly and accommodating when had to move appointment recently. Appointments don't feel rushed, quality time spent checking teeth. So grateful when I know how tough it is to get an nhs dentist at the moment, and how much pressure practices must be under. Oral health is so important to keep up with, and I can't recommend this practice enough.

The best dentist I've had. Dr Frederick Tomas has personally restored my faith in going to the dentist, and constantly proves that great professional dentists -who genuinely care about their patients well-being , actually do exist. Both Dr Tomas and his team around him are superb, both in their professionalism, and their personal approach to their patients. The (ONLY) dentist I'd recommend. And do, whenever the opportunity presents itself!

I went here for a check up and was told I needed two fillings. I had no issues before I came here. I had the fillings which cost the best part of £200 and one of them has kept me in agony now for over 3 months. I went back and my concerns were dismissed. I went to the dentist for a check up and now I'm in pain every day. Worst dentist I've ever been to. I'm now having to spend more money in another dentist to try and stop the pain.

I would highly recommend Ashley Down Dental Care, I have been a patient for nearly 10 years and have been looked after exceptionally well. If you are at all nervous, they calmly look after you, no unnecessary work is ever done, yet great care and attention is always taken to look after your teeth well. Up to date technology and forward thinking dentistry, I am really happy with my treatment and care always.

It's always a positive and relaxing experience at this dentist. In fact, when I had a filling done by Dr Thomas I didn't even realise he had put the anaesthetic in! It's been perfect ever since (I couldn't tell where it was as it looks like my natural tooth, and no pain at all). I've been coming here for four years and the staff are always welcoming and helpful. One of the better dental experiences I've had in my life. They were punctual, efficient, informative, cheap and lovely staff and practitioners. Most importantly, no fillings :) was impressed with the digital xray machine, maybe they have these everywhere now, but this was the first time I've experienced one. I will definitely be using this as my regular dentist in the future.

Really poor dental work. Went back to get my concerns with a filling checked. Was told by dentist my work is perfect. I have had subsequent issues decided to have them checked with another dentist. To which they were 'embrassed' to see the quality of work that has taken place. I would perhaps visit other dental practises first then this one.

I have recently had Invisalign done at Ashley down dental care I am very pleased with my results and support from Dr Tomas throughout my treatment these past 8 months. I would recommend this practice to anyone who is thinking about Invisalign. I was quite nervous about starting this treatment but was pleasantly surprised with the process.

Dr Ansari here is as good as you can get. She booked me in for an expedited review in less than 24hours and had me sorted within 20 mins of the appointment. I have complete faith in her abilities and coming from a healthcare professional who has worked in many many hospitals and knows many doctors, that is high praise. Highly recommended.

These dentists are great... I find dentists difficult but these guys distracted me from thoughts about what they were doing inside my mouth. The surgery is very clean and fresh and the equipment looks well maintained. Waiting areas are comfortable and well lit. Saying "Loved It" isn't quite right but I think they are great...

Definitely don't recommend! I had my teeth "treated" there and it resulted with very painfull inflammation. I paid over 130GBP for a filling which had to be removed two months after by other dentist (for my own money). They failed to contact me and don't respond to my messages about the refund. Avoid if you can!

Terrible, from start to finish.DO NOT GO TO FREDERICK THOMAS FOR COSMETIC TREATMENT. Absolutely horrendous result. Before and after pics are unbelievable Have registered with another dentist. Absolutely gutted the work he has done to my teeth which I actually paid for. Wonky uneven teeth!

I made a booking paid deposit.... travelled although way from southampton ..my appontment was cancelled as dentist wasnt there!!they said hed be back in 30 mins waited then told he cant make it.staff were arrogant made me feel like it was my fault...keep away...greedy.and unproffesional

I was seen for Frederick althoug I have make a long treatment of 5 appoiments at least he got to calm the pain I was getting due to one filling that was falling in upper molar the girls in the desk I can tell that very friendly and professionals as well

Efficient care and great service. I do feel they're a tad overstretched as they whittle through appointments very quickly, even though you get a full level of service and a great duty of care. Very happy to have changed from my old one in Bishopston.

I find the Ashley Down dental practice friendly and efficient. I feel confident that they try their best to keep your teeth in good condition even with an ageing set such as mine. Four stars as they need better access for less mobile patients.

I came in with bleeding gums. They made me wait 30 minutes even though I came on time. The so called dentist looked at my teeth for 5 minutes said I was fine and then I got charged 50 quid. My gums are still bleeding... DO NOT RECOMMEND

The team and Dr. were the best and professional. I was visiting Bristol when I got sudden pain. They were very friendly and gave me the urgent care. I wish I was living in Bristol and had access to such a great Dentist all the time.

Spent a fortune on a crown at this dentist. It wasn't fitted correctly and I swallowed it, shortly after. The surgery didn't accept any responsibility and couldn't give a toss what happened. Beware.
