My Daughter had kidney failure she was here in May for a week then right back in Sept for another two weeks. Her Kidney started to fail while we were there in September. She had to be put on dialysis while we were there. We ended up going home. October and November we were home. Then we were back in December on Xmas night. For fluid from the kidneys she was struggling to breathe. I got her there they gave her some oxygen. Taking very good care of her. Then the doctor came in to examine her. He told me he needed to step out and he would be back. As soon as he went out. She stopped breathing and she was turning blue. I yelled nurse They all rushed in. I was so scared the nurse was with me. They worked on her and brought her back. The doctor came and talked to me and told me we had a long road ahead of us but she would pull through. She was admitted to ICU. Then transferred her to CMC Main. We went home but we ended up coming back to the ER she had a fever and she had Covid. After that we ended up back at mercy again in the ICU they had to intubate her. She got better and we went home. Then one day I went to work my son called. He said she was not feeling well so I hung up and soon as I tried to call the doctor he was calling me back saying the ambulance was at the house. They didn’t make it out of the parking lot. She went into cardiac arrest. We arrived at CMC Main she was intubated and admitted to ICU. They tried to take the tube out in a few days but didn’t do good. They had to put it back in she was in a coma she never opened her eyes. And from there she went to hospice she held on for awhile. I told her it’s ok you can take your rest. A few days later she passed in April ,2022 I would like to say thank you to all of the Emergency room doctors and nurses and X-ray techs and lab technicians that were a part of my daughter’s treatment. Every time we came in. Even the patient escorts. Thank you to the ICU team and every nurse on each floor that we were on. We had to be moved to a different floor because it was during Covid. Everybody was so kind and sweet to us. I would also like to thank Dr. Singleton for taking such wonderful care of her and all the doctors that was on his team. Also her primary care physician Dr. Patel and his whole team. Over there at Elizabeth Family Practice. Including the kidney doctors that cared for her. Last but not least thank you to the Diaylsis treatment unit. Some times she didn’t like getting her dialysis and would be upset. I can’t remember all of the ladies name but I can remember Ashley and I think Connie(sorry if that’s not her name. Thank you to the Kidney Doctor’s that would come around while she was getting her treatment downstairs. Mercy Hospital was our second home. Thank you thank you again for being so wonderful and providing such excellent care to my sweet daughter. Letiya Cunningham.

Do not go by US News or any other national ratings for hospitals by choosing Atrium as the place to go! The worst experience I’ve had staying in a hospital for an extended period of time. And I’ve had more than 20 longer then one week stays in hospitals since I was a child, so I know good care from bad. I’m giving 2 stars only because the emergency dept, staff and doctors and a Pathologist were fantastic. As soon as I was admitted all staff changed. They never could even come up for a reason for my issues other a generic diagnosis of cellulitis. I was in excruciating pain throughout my stay and the doctor would never change my pain medicine to something stronger even though I was daily screaming/crying sometimes for hours. I thought the whole point of being in a hospital was for them to make you comfortable so they can take care of your issues and heal you not make you feel like you’re in some type of prison being tortured. That was basically how I sum up my stay at atrium Mercy, I will say there was one doctor, a Pathologist named Andrew, who was fantastic and you could tell genuinely cared for his patients. The worst part of the entire stay was the discharge process, which I was never introduced to my case manager for aftercare questions, still to this day have no idea who it is. They gave me no instructions on how to care for my wounds outside of the hospital, nor gave me any supplies to do so or a list of supplies to go purchase. They sent me home with two prescriptions for antibiotics and no pain medicine. After being on morphine for more than a week and still in extreme pain while at home. I would recommend no one ever go to any Atrium hospitals. I have personally been to Presbyterian, Novant, CMC and all were far more professional and caring than Atrium. The only reason I went to Atrium was I saw that they were rated number one hospital in Charlotte by US News annual hospital reports. That was a big mistake on my part. As for my experience, they should be rated the last hospital in Charlotte.

What I don't understand is, how can an urgent care, or primary Dr call and let the hospital know that you are on the way and not be ready for you? An EKG was already done, and all that needed to be done was a CT scan, and an x-ray. It just seems to me if a Dr's Office calls and tells you a patient is coming, why do you not have everything in place when the patient gets here? This would speed the time in which a patient is here. Time management is not priority, is it? We have been here 2 hours, and hardly none of these processes are done. Why? I understand if an emergency situation comes in, it pushes everything back, but at least communicate with the love ones that are in the waiting room. But now what's gonna happen, is that you will respond with a "scripted" response. Again, unprofessional. You should give a genuine response to your patients that have legitimate concerns. You should care enough about your patients and have enough respect for us and give us a response by an actual person. I can't even go back to be with her because they said that she has some symptoms of Covid. Urgent care did a C19 test on her, AND it was negative. We even brought the paper that said she was negative. Other spouses get to go back. She has also been fully vaccinated, and has her card, as have I. I still can't go back? People that came in AFTER, us, have already gotten me in and left! The ER front desk employees were great. One guy even called back to see if I could go back to see my wife yet, because he knew that I had been waiting for nearly two hours. You wouldn't allow this kind of service if it was your family member. So why do you treat mine this way? 100% Unacceptable!

Unfortunately, the survey link I received has since expired but I want to let others know about my experience at Mercy Hospital. When reading the poor reviews, I am thinking to myself that this was not the same facility I was in. I am not sure if it had to do with the procedure I was scheduled for or not. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with smiling faces and helpful people. I had a very stressful day prior to my surgery. My day turned around with the person who registered my admittance, to the tech who fitted me for my sling, to the time I was taken to pre-op and then post-op recovery. I never felt so cared for and concerned about with EVERYONE I encountered that day. I explained to the pre-op nurse that I was concerned about my high BP due to stress and the fact I wasn’t able to relax. Without realizing it, she occupied me in conversation about my two rescue dogs, explained why things were done so differently since my two knee replacements and this shoulder surgery, etc. Before I knew it, my bp was coming down. My awesome experience continued with Dr. Schiffern, the anesthesiologist and others involved in the surgery coming in and speaking to me. They spoke to me and listened to me as if I was their only patient for the day. By the time I was wheeled into recovery late afternoon, early evening – the compassion continued with the nurses there and the occupational therapists that came in. Dr. Schiffern and his team working with him that day were beyond exceptional. I can’t thank them enough. I wish I could remember all of their names to give them a shout out individually. They definitely deserve it.

I had a Total knee revision surgery this week. I have only been here once before for foot surgery back in 2015. Pre-op and post-op surgery nurses and staff were amazing. They are all so polite and friendly. My CRNA was so kind and caring. He was one of the best I have had. When I was sent to 7th floor after surgery one thing I will say is that I sat in my room for 15-20 minutes before I saw anyone. The nurse finally came in. The rest of the time the care was good. Senae, RN day shift nurse and Daniela, RN night shift were very kind and caring. They talked with me which was nice as I was alone because my husband had to leave after surgery so it was nice to have friendly staff. PT Nick and OT Amanda were amazing. Not only did they do their job but they went above and beyond to get me water, ice for my knee and extra pillows. Those things I did not get when checking into my room, so they made sure I had it. During my overnight stay the night time charge nurse and daytime charge nurse came into my room to see if I had everything I needed. When I mentioned something in particular to them they wrote it down to discuss with their staff. So they seemed interested in making sure all patients received great service. I left today and have to say overall it was a great hospital experience. Oh I forgot to say the food was very good and this morning food management came into room to make sure the food was good. So I am not sure of all these negative reviews but being an RN, I can say that my stay was very positive and I would come back here to have surgery again. Thanks for the great care!!!

I came in at 1015 yesterday morning and I had to stay overnight to wait for a bed at cmc to become available but the hospital did not know when that would be. From my understanding it could be a few days from then because how busy the hospital was so they say.I left on my own at around 930-10 after they refused to feed me the whole time I was there. The shift of doctors and nurses that helped me yesterday were amazing!!!! The shift this morning were HORRIBLE!!! Stephanie and Nadine were giving racist vibes and Chyna wasn’t knowledgeable about anything!!! Dr.Bolden was no help and couldn’t give me feedback on what was going on and Dr Clark never came to check on me after it had been 2hrs since shift change. They were very much rude to the point I left, went to cmc myself and got a bed right away. I should have went to cmc to began with. The patient complaint line that Stephanie gave me was not even a working number!!!! However shot out to doctor Patel and nurses Jared, Amber, Derek that did go above and beyond to make sure my stay was pleasant. You guys should be recognized because the treatment your colleagues gave me was pathetic! To be rude and disrespectful is 1thing but to be racist is another and I will taking this to higher authorities. I refuse to receive care from anyone in that nature because they can do anything to harm me while under theirs care. By the looks of the reviews seems to me that no one is holding people like this accountable and it has to change.

If I could give this hospital below a 1 star review, I would. My mother was admitted and unfortunately passed away at this hospital. Her care that she received definitely deserved less than a 1 star but this review is about their negligence, lack of empathy, and carelessness. During the worst week of myself and my family's life, while my mother was admitted, her phone was lost. We had tracked down the timeframe in which is was lost / misplaced. While witnessing my mother passing away, the last thing anyone in my family should have had to worry about was the possibility of her losing her phone. Not only was it lost under hospital care, when we reached out to her floor manager and hospital security they could have cared less. We ended up filing a claim and never received any follow up. I finally had the energy after losing my mother to call the hospital to follow up and they told me the claim was never submitted, they do not keep lost and found items and they do not have a process for lost and found items. We only wanted her phone to be able to cherish the memories she had saved on it. Never once have we received an apology or anyone going out of there way to try and track it down. I know this review will mean nothing to the hospital but this is for anyone having to go there - if you have the option, avoid this hospital at all costs and if you do, keep all your belongings safe. Forever disgusted by her care and lack of empathy from the staff there.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. My mom is 70yrs old & having a bladder tumor removed today. I drove her & my 73yr old father to the hospital today. I have 1 sibling and he is a nurse. I dropped my parents off at the door & parked the car. When I got to the lobby, they informed me that my brother was already there with them. As such, due to "Covid Protocols" I wasn't allowed in. I expressed that I didn't even get to say goodbye or hug my mom. They did not care and had an attitude. I became extremely upset and my mom came over. She got upset and they still didn't care. So my mom walked me outside, only to have a nurse follow us and tell my mom she couldn't be outside because if they called her name, no one would look for her and she could miss her surgery slot. My mom and I hugged and she went inside. After I had an anxiety attack, I called the hospital & talked to the surgery charge nurse. I explained that if it was all about the "numbers" due to Covid, not EVERY patient would've brought 2 people with them. So I could just count as one of someone else's plus 2. As a compromise, they let me come in to sit with my father as my brother went to pre-op with my mom. However, I would have to go back outside the hospital to wait when my brother came back out of pre-op. Like, really??? My mom is 70yrs old & having CANCER surgery. You're going to make me wait outside?!? I would NEVER recommend this hospital to anyone!!

Where to start...I can say without a doubt this is the worst hospital ever. My husband Tony Williams just had a very complicated surgery. You get a great nurse (Flo) that says "stay ahead of the pain" she goes off shift and the next nurse (Mia) says. You can't have pain meds because she asked your pain level and you said a 3 currently but it goes to an 8-9 quick. Then Physical therapy comes in and wants you to hop on one foot when you don't have pain meds. And you couldn't hop on one foot before surgery. Then the doctor comes by and says " I will increase your pain meds" only to enter the information incorrectly which cut the pain dosage in half and does not call the nurse back after several attempts. When we try to explain this to the charge nurse the nurse (Mia) was rude and said " she won't let me talk she won't keep her mouth shut ". This is after a night watching my husband struggle with pain and neither one of us getting much rest. I said I do not want this nurse and the nurse said " good ". I normally do not write reviews but if I can keep a patient from going through this it will be worth it. I tried to speak to the administrator instead of posting a review but of course he was in a meeting. If my husband was not in so much pain we would just leave. Be careful when selecting a hospital. If you are close to Winston Salem go to Medical Park Hospital. They are exceptional.

For the sake of your loved one or yourself. Do not...I repeat..Do NOT come here. My father's health deteriorated so fast our heads were spinning. I visited him on a Friday and he was perfectly fine...then that Monday it became a different story. He even called the nurse while I was there to prove how long it would take them to come into the room to check and see what he needed. He went in for one thing and they told us he was in good hands.... they put him on antibiotics and did not keep an eye on him to monitor for any reactions. And of course he had a reaction. They gave him so many medications that day and the next thing you know he's in the ICU on a ventilator. He caught pneumonia while here as well. One person said the pneumonia was cleared and the the next day another says he's still being treated for it. While in the ICU they ran many tests on him and from one of the tests he got another infection and had to be put on more antibiotics. My father did not make it out of this hospital alive and there was a doctor there that was very inconsiderate to my grandparents who had just buried another son weeks prior. There is so much more I can say, we would be here all day.... please.... I know I'm a stranger but RUN for the hills when it comes to this hospital.

I've only been to Atrium Health Mercy one time, but it went about as well as it could. I checked in at the front desk, and didn't have long to wait before I was called back to speak with someone about the cost of my operation; it was made clear to me how much was going to be covered by insurance. From there, I was brought to another waiting room, but I was only there for a few minutes because my surgery had been bumped up to an earlier time. When I was taken back for pre-op, everyone was friendly and addressed my questions/concerns; nurses, the anesthesiologist, the surgeon, they were all great. There was some level of nervousness going through surgery prep for the first time, but they made me feel comfortable. Post-op, I woke up feeling pretty alert, there was very little grogginess. I think I probably only spent about an hour in recovery before I was able to go home. The whole process, from beginning to end, felt very smooth. I interacted with more people than I can remember the names of, and most of those interactions were quite brief, but there was definitely an order to it all, and it was clear that they knew what they were doing.

If you have a real health concern do not go to this hospital. In 2022 I went to this hospital for a wound that I had on my left foot that was infected and swollen so much that I was in pain. The doctor Never examined me he just sent me. They took an ex-ray of my foot and took some blood and sent me home. No pain medication, they gave me a paper prescription for an antibiotic. Needless to say my foot became so infected that it went to the bone. When this happen a doctor from Atrium Meyers Park Medical Clinic sent me back to Atrium Mercy Hospital told me that this hospital was the best place for me. Well while I was in the hospital I was over dosed with insulin twice I had to use uber eats twice because they did not provide me with regular meals and they had me on a lot antibiotic to flush out the infection. I would not recommend this hospital to any one. And to top it all off I got a bill from the doctor that didn't even examined me in the first place he literally just took a picture of my foot that's it. Come to fined out all they had to do is put stitches in my foot to close off the wound and it would have closed up.

This place was a mixed bag. I was there for some heart related irregularities after I was transferred from main's ED. I was on the 4th floor. The techs who took vitals were good and I had no complaints. The nurses were a mixed bag, ranging from good to near negligent. (Jane, dressed in all black like a nursing ninja is standout exceptional nurse. She took excellent care of me on her shift and I could hear her most of the night giving everyone else the same level of excellent care. 1 of these stars in my review is hers and hers alone!) The regular Dr. for me was just ok, not great. Dr. Falawee the cardiologist was a really good doctor. I liked his bedside manner and felt he cared. Foodservice was ok but did have some slip ups that are not worth mentioning. The room does "feel" dirty but I would imagine the age of the rooms giving that impression. But it was a little dirty. All the specialist from nuclear medicine, ultrasound and the like were excellent and professional. I would not be scared to stay here again but I do hope the other nurses on the 4th floor take a lesson from Jane.

Took my mother (96 y/old) for an appointment with Mercy's radiology dept. From our arrival curbside until we left, we unexpectedly received excellent treatment of the type you may expect at a fine resort. When we pulled up, the kindly and alert guard approached and ended up offering to guide my mother to the bathroom while I looked for a parking space, saving time. (We were having a hard day and running late, and it made a big difference. He also kept an eye on her, and pointed out where to find her in the lobby.) Staffers accompanied us to where we needed to go, one even going up with us on the elevator. (Speaking of the main elevators, they've been revamped and seem brand new.) The radiology staff & technicians were as kind and solicitous as could be; the techs welcomed me to stay with Mom and got her completely comfortable (pillows, warm blanket) before starting the scans. I've been around numerous hospitals; overall this was the most seamless and friendly hospital experience I've ever observed.

I told my nurse there were air bubbles in my IV line, she cleared it by pushing the air bubbles into my vein and got upset with me when I asked her why she would do that. That is dangerous and not how you clear an iv of air. Her name is Nadia. Later in the night, after I had fallen asleep, the nurses were playing with wheeled chairs and woke me up from it. They even pushed one into the wall next to my door, and laughed hysterically about it. This is at 1:45am. I called the hospitals customer care, they said someone would come to my room to talk to me about it. No one showed up for an hour, called the hospital and spoke with the administration which told me they "heard the nurses side of the story" and that was all they had to say about it. I've had bad hospital experiences, but I would never have expected such childishness and rudeness from someone, let alone nurses. Oh yea, I had hip surgery the day before. Completely acceptable way to treat people who had invasive surgery apparently.

  • Cedric B

My friend went for our patient hip replacement surgery.the staff is very nice and friendly u get text and updates through the entire day alerting you to progress and all the patient is going through . Every person I encountered was super nice .only thing I found side eying was they call for me to come back to the side by emergency and asked for Selena at front desk to show me she immediately said I can't go all the way back there yet the nurse was only asking her to show me directions but God always shows u people hands less than 5 minutes of me being back there she walked a Hispanic guy all the way into the room , yet 5 minutes ago you said you can't go back that far .overall super friendly, excellent two of the staff members saw me kinda lost trying to get to the room Selena said she couldn't take me too and they stopped what they were doing to make sure I got there .God is amazing life is amazing

  • Brittany Sawyer

Staff is very rude and unprofessional. Detox nurse or receptionist was hateful and hung up on me. Took a friend in for detox which we have done before and they took him back and we left on our way home 30 minutes away. Get a call from the friend once home to pick him back up they had no beds. Why would you take someone in and then turn around and say you have no bed they must leave. Communicate with your staff and tell the patient that in the beginning and save people the trouble and time. Also was lied to by the receptionist or whatever she was stating they had no check ins that night and that they never took anyone back when the patient was seen being taken back by the staff. Mercy should probably choose better and friendlier staff before it ruins their reputation. Seems like they only want to help certain people and only when they feel like it. Save your time and troubles and go somewhere else.

I've been here almost a week . The cafeteria always messes up my food. And I don't understand how. The person from cafeteria come to my room and sit with a tablet and they still can't get my food right. I think they are trying to starve me. And the Mac n cheese had green mold or something in it . What is goin on here ?? They always forget my drink . Do they not think I need a drink. This is the worst I have ever been treated. The nurses leave me in my room for hours with out checking in on me or emptying my catheter. I'm here for kidney issues and they have done nothing to help. I complained about a nurse Crystal and said I didn't want her in my room again and not the next night but the night after she was my nurse again. Are they trying to hurt me more?I think I need to figure out if I can be sent to another hospital before they mess me up more than I am already. This is aweful

  • Amy Davern

Worst Atrium facility! Beware!!! Took my mother here for surgery and everything was fine until the anesthesiologist Dr. Fortuner came in. He confused my mother and put her in a panic. When I asked him a question his response was, "are you in healthcare?" When I responded yes he was so consumed with what I did for a living he didn't even try to put my mother's mind at ease or make her feel better. When I refused to answer his question he left and sent his asst Betsy in to dismiss me from the room. When I called to complain I received a letter from the hospital telling me thank you but if your mother would like to call we will be happy to speak to her! What I do for a living has no impact on what he was doing! Atrium should take my complaint as serious as the patient's complaint! Do not go to this hospital! I will never step foot in this facility again!

  • UnderTheCStephE

Do not go here or bring any of your loved ones here. You may never see them or yourself come out. Negligence, malpractice and the worst experience ever. It was something out of a horror movie except it was real life. They will let you deteriorate and give you medicines and let your body fill with fluids, develop a cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, no one cares for days. It is terrifying the lack of compassion and care. All the sudden they force you on a ventilator against everyone's wishes. You may come in for one thing and end up with completely different issues, life threatening ones I may add. Do not go to this hospital.  They will leave you in soiled messes for hours, not bring you dinner, throw you on so many sedatives, run countless tests and still not give definite answers or treatments. The most terrifying and traumatizing experience EVER

  • Jennifer McPhatter

My mother went in for emergency gall bladder surgery, the doctors postponed twice, after she was operated on the third day the doctor did not have an IV or pain meds ordered after the surgery. Then 3 hours after the surgery my mother was still under the affects of anesthesia they gave her solid foods instead of liquid, she choked and almost died (no pulse for 12 minutes, CPR kept her living) ended up in ICU on a ventilator for a week then left ICU to a rehab center to walk again (she walked fine before the gall bladder surgery). Nurses and doctors were great in ICU except one called Tre, she went around to every ICU rooms telling visitors to put their mask up instead of caring for her assigned patients. And while in the nurse`s station she left her mask down. Her time and efforts should be spent on her patients instead of trying to feel important.

  • Alan Nilsson

I would like to say the service and support I received from the nurses on the 5th floor was just amazing. This was the first time I have ever had to stay in a hospital, never mind having surgery. As you can imagine I was very nervous. There were many people who supported me including the doctors and those that prepped me for surgery and I am sorry I can’t remember all of their names, but three I do, including Jenna, Grace and FiFi. All were so amazing and took wonderful care of me during my recent stay. Thanks to you all for making my first serious medical experience a positive one, all because of what each of you did each day. You should be proud of yourselves and the hospital should be proud to have each of you working for Mercy.

  • Dom Delledera

I’ve never wanted to write a review this quickly. As I’m taking Uber back to the hotel from the worst hospital experience ever. Extremely disorganized . No one communicates with each other. 6 hours to wait for a doc to come to the room , the nurses leave you in room without any communication and connected to i v and monitor. Than the kicker. I’m walking out to get my Uber and another guy asks if i was registered. I was here for 6 hours and ow you want to ask me questions . I offered insurance card when i came in and apparently they never took that either. I empathize that they had a busy night, but having absolutely no communication , confusion and what seemed like a lack of care is not ok Stay away from here if you have a choice.

  • Rose Stella Sears

The worst hospital experience I've had. I came into the ER after midnight, there was no one there to check in with, I eventually had to ask security who I should talk to. This woman named Janice came out and was nasty and rude to me. Then while I'm waiting to go back Janice is actually giving me dirty looks! Then I'm skipped when being called back. Then JANICE comes back into the room for billing information and she's gets even nasty with there! She was rolling get eyes at me not looking at me when she was talking to me. Then the nurse leaves the body temp reader and the blood pressure cuff on sand didn't take them off!! Total laziness!! On top of it all there was a syringe on floor!!!!!! Get your stuff together!

  • Joe Simpkins

Mostly good service from the caregivers, but there was one particular event that angered me immensely. On the last day a nurse was instructed to come into my room and remove the IV line in my arm. Before she ripped it off my arm, I asked her to please listen to my suggestion for the removal. She then proceeded to ignore my input and snatched it off my arm causing two large patches of my arm hair to be lost with the skin being open to infection. This event was a total divergence to the care I was otherwise given, and totally wrong to treat a patient like I was with that one nurse! She definitely needs to be counselled on her patient care and attitude!!!

  • Crystal B

Took my father in for surgery today. I’m assuming there was miscommunication , they only are allowing TWO people in the waiting area due to “Covid” and we had a total of 3 people . They made our family member go outside to wait in 25 degree weather @ 6:00 AM also seen elderly people being asked to wait as well. I had to ask to speak to someone higher up because the door guards wouldn’t even let him use the restroom . Couldn’t walk through the door at all! Finally after speaking to the manager they allowed him to come in . I would NOT recommend coming to this hospital for surgery - as they are not very accomadating or very nice to your family members

  • Stephanie Wells

Very disappointed my mother was discharged on Friday. We went to get prescription and found out that some of the things she needed were not called in. When I called the hospital they told me the charge nurse would call me back. After several hours and no call I called back. First person I talked to passed me off to someone else which was just as rude. Told me there was nothing they could do because they had shift change. Then hung up on me. Thank God my mother's life isn't in too much danger for not having these meds. I could not believe how rude there nurses were on the 7th floor. Extremely disappointed. Stephanie Wells

  • David Gray

I felt like a hostage as they would not even allow me to retrieve a phone charger from my vehicle after being admitted. Turned my wife and kids away from visiting due to a 12 and under restriction that no nurse or doctor informed me of after I consistently mentioned that they would be visiting and even asking if there would be any issues with visitations. Security was very nasty to my wife, even making my wife and kids walk outside in the dark around the whole hospital to go in a specific entrance, only to turn them away. Patient experience is definitely not this facility's strong suit.

Walked in admiring the beauty of the front of the hospital only for it to be tarnished by disorganized, strange staff members. No one knows what’s going on. Berated by staff. Made to feel like an eyesore by staff. Poked my head into an open door of what I thought was some kind of seating area to find an odd male worker standing in the corner of a dark empty room… he quickly departed the room and scurried up the hall when we made eye contact. Hospital receptionist dressed like a club goer with 7inch stilettos and body con apparel. I literally cannot make this up. Very strange hospital!

I was recently a patient, Brandon P. To me this is a wonderful place that gives their absolute all for you. they are the first medical facility I have ever been in and really felt as though i really mattered. I was skeptical at first but within just a few days my demeanor was changed, all because of the nurses on 11th floor. They really helped me through a lot. They were always there for me when I had noone. They were always there to really listen to me and tried giving me the right advice... Me Personally I love those Ladies. They have amazing and wonderful loving hearts and souls..

  • Ben House

Maybe their Medical Care is decent. But you'll be there for a couple days waiting for it. Recently had a loved one here, their discharge was delayed several days over paperwork snafus. No hustle to get it fixed and get them home. Bad service. Visiting on the weekend? Nothing's open. We waited 80 minutes for a wheelchair to get down to the lobby. We weren't allowed to wheel them down ourselves... And I'm sure those extra days stay are costing thousands. Still pushing the pseudoscience of mandatory cloth masks for all, despite the medical establishment stating their uselessness...

Don't listen to the negative reviews. My 88 year old father just had back surgery there this morning and got phenomenal care. He was medium risk for complications and his care team did everything to make sure he had a successful surgery. We could not be happier with how we were treated. Everything was clean and tidy where ever we looked. Thank you Mercy South for taking care of my father! Review Observation: It's funny how all the bad reviews get likes but the good ones don't. Anyone looking at reviews for this hospital take it with a grain of salt like another reviewer said.

  • JDunn Dunn

After reading many of the reviews here, I was more than a little nervous about an upcoming inpatient surgery. Now after the surgery I can tell you 100% it was all for naught. From the greeting by security and checking in at 4:45am at the front desk, to everyone working on ortho floor that I had contact with and finally transport on discharge. Some of, if not the nicest, caring people I've ever experienced at a hospital. I just wish I could remember all their names so I could thank them individually. Awesome staff, Atrium Mercy is very fortunate to have all of these employees.

  • Leigh Anne Bolton

Absolute worst experience. Everything is a long wait from being seen, ordering pain meds, getting pain meds, rescheduling of procedures etc. It’s all just a mess. We keep wondering if staff has forgotten my daughter and when we finally get someone, they just say they have to ask someone else and no one EVER follows up. Never put your loved ones in this poorly run facility. Sitting here for over 4 hours waiting to be released and no one will give us a status. Not surprised given this has gone on for four days now. She will never come back to this place.

  • Lyvn 4 God

I called to cancel and reschedule an appointment that conflicted with another appointment I had on that same day that I couldn't miss. I explained to SABRINA the appointment scheduler of my dilemma . She was really rude and scolded me for needing to cancel . SABRINA later falsely reported that I was not concerned with my well being and stated that I had canceled multiple times. SABRINA 's actions cause me to see another Dr that I was very pleased with. Atrium Mercy lost me as a patient/client due to SABRINA and all the negative reviews they have.

  • Autumn Drayton

My son had a surgery at this hospital yesterday and I was a little concerned with the other reviews but they exceeded our expectations. The hospital staff was extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with and the nurses and doctors were very informative and kept us up-to-date with everything that was going on. The only thing I will say is the app that utilize for updates was about 15 to 20 minutes behind so by the time I got the notification the doctor or staff already let me know. I would highly recommend this hospital.

I visited Mercy Horizons in April 2023 for detoxing and had a very nice and easy time. The staff was competent and caring, and listened to my questions/concerns. For those of us that unfortunately need this service, remember that you get what you give. If you behave in a reasonable manner and show appreciation for the help, it can be a good experience. Also, I was impressed with the assistance I received for finding aftercare options which I'm continuing with great success. Thank you for getting me back on track.

  • Lisa Rayfield

The worst communication and the worst care for my father. I will continue to investigate the care of my father. I would never recommend care for a loved one at this facility. Dr. Communication is the worst even begging for a phone call. My father has degenerated in this hospital. I have so much more to say. I believe my father will pass away in this hospital without any explanation. 6 days already? They will probably blame covid even though he's been vaccinated. More money for the hospital.

From the security guard who engaged just as we walked in period to the last nurse walking out. This is one of the kindest most friendliest places in 10 years I have ever been. My wife had an episode and we needed to go. It was late at night. The young man who took my information for my wife. Romeo the nurse was so kind. It was excellence from beginning to end. I can't thank them enough and God forbid something else happens to my family. I will be bringing them here. God-bless you all

  • Cyndi Knight

I have had nothing but good experiences with this hospital. I've been brought in multiple times by ambulance with hip dislocations and other issues and I've also come in by personal vehicle. I've always been treated well by the staff. The doctors are very thorough and the nurses are attentive and kind. My nurse technicians have been great. I've only been in the ER, 3rd floor, OR, and 7th floor but all I can say is that they have been the awesome to me .

  • Faith L

After working a 15 hour shift and being in a car accident I’ve been waiting for 2 hours and have not been seen. No confirmation on how much longer I’ll have to wait. I have a 15 hour shift tomorrow as well and I’ll get less than 5 hours of sleep thanks to the lack of care. Staff has time to stand around and talk but not assist the patients. Next time I’m in need I’ll take the 40+ minute drive for better care. My first and last time coming to Mercy.

  • Kimberly Funderburk

Although my stay was only 1 night, I was treated exceptionally well by all of the staff. The food staff went above and beyond to make sure I was fed exceptionally well even though it was after dinner hours when I got in my room. The room was great. Large and very clean. My nurses Brittnay and David were very helpful and took wonderful care of me. Thank you all for the GREAT care

  • StormmyWeather

Do NOT go to this healthcare facility. They will take you for everything you have if you can not pay your medical debt. They have over 2,500 open lawsuits against patients that can not pay them back, and will go after spouses of dead patients. They will try to make you take out loans with private equity-backed lender AccessOne that can come with interest rates as high as 13%.

  • Shelbi Desalvo

My husband had an outpatient surgery at this hospital and wow did things run smoothly!! All the staff was friendly and helpful. I received calls/text messages with updates at each phase of his visit. This hospital is clean and organized, everything happened on time or even ahead of schedule for us. The cafe area was nice. You can tell everyone cares about you and your family.

  • Lawrence Dickerson

Had a procedure done here a week ago. The staff, nurses and doctors were very helpful. Every step in the process I knew who was there to help me and get me on the road to recovery. The team there was outstanding! Special shout out to the overnight nursing staff. The amount of care and support they provide was amazing. Thank you so much for helping me recover!

  • JH Pro Books

Had an Ulnar Nerve Transposition procedure done last week and everything went exceptionally well. Dr. Loeffler is very respectful regarding concerns and any wishes my wife and I had. His surgical team at Atrium Mercy were extremely nice and helpful. While I don’t wish surgery on anyone, if it has to be done, I highly recommend this hospital.

  • Jimmy Johnson

Unprofessional! She's rubbing her face and eating in the triage with a nasty attitude to top it off. After we leave I will recommend that nobody I know come here. These so called "nurses" won't even get out of their chairs to speak to a woman in a wheelchair. They have asked her to be wheeled up to the counter three separate times.

  • Marquita Lipscomb

I think Atrium’s HR Dept has a direct connection to heaven because they have employed a lot of Angels within their network! I had the pleasure of having Amy (Same day surgery) care for me from the moment she greeted me until I was taking into surgery she made me feel comfortable! She was professional, compassionate and caring!

  • F Robinson

The check- in process is terrible. The lady at the front hospital entrance is rude and unknowledgeable. The emergency side security isn't any better. If your going to grab my purse and look in it. ASK for permission or put up a SIGN for people to see. Just rude and unnecessary! You could've at least ask me to open it!!!

  • NanaAma Asare

Service from nurses was so poor! For instance, my oxygen mask fell off the bed to the floor and the nurse on duty picks it up and hands it over to me to put back in my nose...disgusting! Night doctor on call refuses to deal with any care emergency I had and prefers to pass the buck to daytime doctor!

  • Melanie Washington

The staff at mercy hospital is amazing my husband is on the 7th floor of mercy hospital everyone is so nice they really care about there patients I recommend Mercy hospital for your knee replacement .the Nurses and the CNA are amazing I want to give a shot out to Kenya the CNA she is awesome.

  • Stephanie Grant

First time at Mercy, had to have MRI with anesthesia. I had some issues coming out of anesthesia. The nurses there are so wonderful. Ashleigh, Lori and Jason were awesome. But a special thanks to Ashleigh for your kindness when I got sick. The entire staff here were great. Thank you …

  • Scott

You literally have to walk up a hill to get to the er. Or take these steep stairs. Very conservative on how they test for things. The rest of the hospital is great but this review is for the er. I'm sure they tossed around the idea of shutting it down and becoming a Ortho hospital.

  • Susan Grant

My husband was at Mercy for a GI Bleed … I couldn’t have asked for better care for him… they are attentive to patients needs… I was allowed to stay with him thru the night and the nursing staff always made sure I didn’t need anything either. Very happy with care and doctors

  • Mark Perkins

Last year I stayed in the ICU a couple nights. The emergency room doctors and the doctors in the ICU were incredibly smart and professional. The best team of doctors I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. I would trust them again in a life threatening situation.

  • jim kluth

Had to go in today because I was dehydrated. I met the most amazing people.. Stephanie and Ellie were outstanding . I hope this message gethis message gets to the right people.. These 2 young ladies are a definite asset to what could be a very unhappy place

  • Christopher J. Powell

These people are amazing. The doctors and nurses both do all they can to make sure you get well as soon as possible. Love this place. And I'll recommend it to everyone when your sick and need special care. Mercy's the place to go for wonder medical care.

  • Madison Pareja

Not sure why this hospital has such bad reviews. My stay here was amazing. The nurses were caring and easy to talk to, they knew how to calm me down before my surgery, and they were very sweet and accommodating to my needs. Amazing staff overall.

  • Eyvonne Simmons

I received the Best of care , Nurse Landon and staff address my illness, recognize the problem and together came up with a solution that worked as well as involved me the patient as to what care I would receive..Thank you …

To be clear they deserve no stars. I was transferred here Saturday from CMC Main because they were so full. What a mistake. The hospitalist, Dr. Reddy was horrible. She did not listen to me or let me ask questions… she just said what she

Excellent service from the staff at Mercy Hospital. Ms. Jackie, Ms. Vee, Ms.Yvonne, Justin all from the 4th floor were absolutely great! Ms.Jackie was always attentive and pleasant. If I needed anything she would immediately get on it!

My experience at this hospital appears to be vastly different than the ones I have just read about. I was on the 7th floor Surgical/Orthopedics and felt I got excellent treatment here. I had surgery with Dr. Masonis and his PA Erin.

Natalie Miller in the ER department is amazingly sweet an kind. She made me feel comfortable an let me know what she was doing during my mini procedure. Thank you for being a wonderful person inside an out!!!

  • BASS Playa

I feel bad for you if you get admitted and end up with Dr. Ram Sankar Lingamgunta. He could care less about his patients. He left me suffering and could have cared less. Horrible doctor and human being.

  • Labreisha Blackburn

Nurse Jacky or Jackie 4th floor very rude could care less about patients no type of care or compassion should definitely find another field or job and most importantly correct here NASTY attitude .
