We went to a DJ show in the basement. Venue is good for a small show, stage is quite small, but lots of room for dancing. Good lighting set up, and a few couches & stools off to the side if you need to sit. Otherwise, minimal furniture (i.e. tables to put drinks on), and lots of open space. There is a coat check available. For the show, water and glasses were provided on the side of the bar (self serve). Bar is cash only, but there is a cash machine there too. Floor gets quite slippery when wet, and became slightly hazardous. Only half of the female bathrooms were in working order when we went (2/4). Stairs are a bit narrow to go down, and I don't think the place is wheelchair accessible. Fire alarm also went off twice during the show (too hot/humid), but they cranked the AC and that seemed to solve the problem. For this show in particular, we had purchased tickets. There was a line-up of 30 people who showed up to purchase tickets at the door, and they were allowed in before us. The doorman was polite & professional, and explained his thinking (get the people who had been waiting 30 mins inside to warm up), which is thoughtful of him, but I disagree with his logic. The point of purchasing tickets is to guarantee your entry. I would have thought people who committed to coming & forked over their money beforehand would have priority (versus people who only decide to go on the day of). It was very kind of him to let people waiting inside (from a human perspective), but this goes against the point of purchasing tickets. Overall, good venue, and I'd be happy to attend another show here (keep booking great talent!). I just hope they recognize that making ticket holders wait isn't logical.
I was at Junction for the Burlesque Open Stage event as a performer. I have never been so disappointed in a venue and their manager for the way that they treated us, as well as the way they were running things. The manager was one of the rudest, uncaring person, who seemed to have an excuse putting blame on everyone and anyone but himself or the resturaunt. They had double booked the night with Big Taste, without even informing any of us that this happened as we were under the impression we had the space from 8 onward and then he refused ticket holders from our event into the space because he wouldn’t tell the Big Taste patrons to leave and said it was our companies fault for overselling tickets.... and people with tickets for our show were stuck standing or getting refunded because the Big Taste customers got to keep their front row seating but of course this was not his fault nor the resturaunts although he and the resturaunt were hosting the event. He rudely handled the situation and talked down to members of the company as if they were stupid. He put no blame on the restaurant and yet put it all on our company although we were fully in the dark about this. As well two workers a man and lady came into our backstage changing area to take a table downstairs, there were girls changing here and they had just walked right in not caring, the man kept looking in as we told them multiple times girls were changing in here and to wait 2 minutes but they didn’t seem to get that concept and kept coming in. This place has some shady management and truly needs to get it’s act together if they want to host events for the city, very disrespectful and unorganized
Really, really, really bad food. Came here for bigtasteyyc, thoroughly disappointed. We had the 3 course meal that included the lobster bisque, steak and creme brûlée. The lobster bisque was literally just cambell soup with what tasted like shrimp paste. The steak was the worst steak we’ve ever had eating out. It was so insanely tough, you could spend hours chewing on it. I swallowed many pieces whole just to get it over with... Never mind the fact that they don’t even give you a steak knife! Otherwise, the sauce paired with the steak was ok. Lastly, the creme brûlée was outright cold and was most likely prepared a few hours ago because it came out immediately after they took our steak plates. The service was very good and the staff were friendly. The ambience is decent; there was a live band playing for a bit. But if you’re looking for good food, I’d advise you to go somewhere else. You’re better off at something generic like joeys or cactus.
We attended a music event to celebrate our anniversary and had a terrible experience with the venue. I had reserved a table in advance but they didn't have one for us when we arrived; we ended up on the balcony (better seats for viewing, but very uncomfortable as they were tall bar seats). It took forever for a server to come, and it only happened after my husband went to find one. Took 20 minutes to get two beers, had to remind her to bring water (which took another 10 min), appetizers came in a reasonable amount of time but was lukewarm and no cutlery. Waited 20 min for cutlery only after reminding her again to bring some, by then the food was cold. At this point we decided to leave, as we were still hungry and didn't want to stay. My husband spoke with a manager before we left and our bill was taken care of (hence 2 stars instead of 1).
Tried to go to the burlesque show organized by Mount Royal and hosted by junction. The ticket said to arrive at 8pm, an hour early, for drinks and an appie. We left dinner to go to junction and find out they have no room for us because they double booked with big taste. We stood at the door trying to figure out what was happening for about an hour. The host was incredible rude, unhelpful and just passed the blame. He was unapologetic and just continued to tell us it was not the restaurants fault, when in fact they are the ones hosting. In the end we had to figure out how to get a refund because junction was now over capacity and ticket holders had to stand while big taste patrons had tables to the show. The host was one of the rudest people I’ve had to deal with and really couldn’t care less about their miscommunication.
We went to see a great band at YYC Junction last night and really enjoyed our drinks and meals too. I had the chicken brie sandwich which was really good - big chunks of chicken and cheese on a toasted baguette. My friends enjoyed the soup of the day along with the fish tacos which they said were delicious. The waitress recommended the Tikka chicken tenders and my husband thought they were great. Our vegetarian friend thought the grilled vegetable wrap was superb. The prices were very reasonable. The wine list was acceptable with a wide range of different priced wines. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent experience here last night. The food is suprisingly affordable, and excellent tasting (making their low prices even better). We sampled numerous items- the shrimp and dumpling appies, veal entree, butter chicken pasta, and meat galore flatbread. All were tasty, but it was the veal and couscous combo that really stood out. After five glasses of wine, five beers, two appies, and three entrees, the bill came to just $150. I was shocked. All this while enjoying an excellent live performance (Ray Charles tribute). What a great way to spend a Saturday evening.
We went for Valentine's day was 40$ pp. The sirloin served was said to be top but was was so tough and chewy was definitely a tip and I ordered medium rare.. the special drink of the night was 16$!! Definitely not a special price at all. Then when leaving we waited and waited for someone to get our coats from coat check nobody ever came so I just grabbed it myself. Not the beat experience the soup was my favorite...the desert I think were the cheesecake pieces you can get at Costco... So definitely felt we over paid for it all...
Highly recommend this place! Wide variety of events through out the month. Check out their calendar on their website to see what’s next. They bring in amazing audio to DJ nights, they host business building events and all kinds of other events that you might love! Come to socialize, you’ll love the food. And I haven’t even been downstairs yet which is another place of wonderfulness that I haven’t even explored yet
Went there for a friend’s birthday she was told it was going to be a glow party. Absolutely terrifying. Was definitely not a glow party there was about 11 people there on a Friday at 11:30 we ended leaving and going to a different bar. It was a complete scam. She also paid for a party bus and a 10 person limo showed up for 15 people. It was so disappointing especially on her birthday.
We visited Junction during a private event and it was a pleasant experience. The stage was appropriate for the size of the crowd, and it's visible not only from the main floor but from the upper level, where the DJ booth is . The staff at the bar was very nice and service oriented. I would recommend Junction for private events.
Man all I can say is junction is by far the best place in Calgary to go , from manager to bouncer , absolute 10s , would recommend this place to anybody .. shoutout to my boy chase for being the biggest beauty to ever walked the face of this earth and for the manager knowing how to run a place . 10/10.. wake up calgary
Sweet little venue, let me bring my waterbottle in after making sure it was water and even refilled it at the tap for me and their was no shortage of water jugs for those who needed them :) super kind of them as someone who doesn't drink it really allowed me to stay hydrated and enjoy My night, thank you.
Junction has been a saving grace providing live music during the covid lockdown. They provide a safe and friendly environment for everyone. The sound systems will blow you away and their light show will be a feast for your eyes. If you live in Calgary or plan on passing through, make sure to visit them!
Really cool little place in downtown, we went for a Rock Rhythm Rival night and it was really cool seeing all the local artists. There wasn't a coat check or anything so that was a bit of a bummer, and the drinks were a little expensive, but all in all, it was pretty cool and I will definitely go again!
Went for Nights Like This New Years Event, and the artists were all incredible live. My wife and I drove down from YEG for the event, and it was well worth it. Every single artist was great live, and they all mingled with the crowd and supported the other artists while they were on stage.
This restaurant uses negative marketing by attacking my posts to attract customer to their event through slandering. This is not the way to market events. Here are the image evidences. Now I receive a threaten of a lawsuit if I do not change my review. Check the newest image.
Junction is a fantastic venue. We come here all the time for our Startup Grind Calgary events, a premiere corporate community event. The food and service are spectacular and the layout is great for up to 150 person events. Location is key and parking is accessible after 6.
We went to the Junction Underground for the Latin night. There was nobody there. The floor was so sticky it was hard to dance. There was an even coating of a sticky substance on the entire floor. Very weird. The music and lights were good, but there was no one there.
Owner lacks any compassion for staff or patrons. Staff are just as useless and can't stand up to owner. Thanks to these people and lack of care about their jobs they contaminated folk. Improper cleaning and protocols contributed to yet another outbreak. Thanks!
This place is awsome... Good for events because there's a stage where the act is above the audience... There's viewing from the rooms above where you can see clearly and the sound is great! Good food to! Check out when your in the area... I recommend cheers!
Small, but cozy venue with a comfortable atmosphere. I went here to see a friend of mine perform live music and it was very well organized and enjoyable. Very good prices on drinks as well, although the bar is cash only. Either way, it was a fun time.
Junction (UNDERGROUND) is the best place to go for an amazing night out - I go every Friday and Saturday. The service is amazing, the employees, bouncer, and owner is too — if your considering coming here, do it! I promise that they won’t disappoint.
We had the place to ourselves for lunch which surprised us once we received our food. It was delicious! I had the slow cooked pork grilled sandwhich with salad. Loved it! Jan, our server, was great, too. I would definitely come here for lunch again.
Was at the techno show last night, good vibes and great music! The only thing that threw me off was how they leave water pitchers out in the open for self serve which could easily be tampered with. Servers were not supervising at all times. …
Was a part of a local artist group show @junction yyc. The owner is very helpful and positive. The staff are friendly And provide great service! Food and drinks are great! Would recommend any time! For a night out or to rent for a private event!
Patrick was the greatest bartender with amazing energy. I felt very welcome and had a good time and felt around the employees in general. Patrick’s smile lightened up my world!! Thank you to all the friendly staff that made my night
I had their grilled chicken and brie sandwich with fries. The chicken was nice and jucy and the ciabatta bread was great. Being able to order something like this to pickup for lunch is excellent. Its a bit pricey for $10 though
Had a lot of fun here. Very small drink selection (I believe this is because it’s local drinks only). They tried to kick us out when another show began to pay a second cover. Needless to say everyone left and didn’t return
I am from Vancouver and was visiting Calgary when I stumbled upon this cool spot. The seafood linguine and lobster bisque were AWESOME. Great service coupled with amazing food and great prices is a recipe for success …
Food: it took 1 hour between 1srt course and main, plus it was served cold!. After dinner was done. they took away the table forcing us to stand up. Ambience kudos for the DJ good playlist. It was very bad experience …
Went to the lower level bar , visually it's great, sound on point but the service was sub par . 3 times the bartender try to scam me for money . 15$ for a rum and coke then after i gave a 20 she tries to pocket the rest .
......A lively stage bar with live performances. Attractive a good crowd of patrons with awesome selections of wine, bar and good tasty Food at reasonable prices. Staff provided good and great service. Fast and efficient
Decent sized portions to fill you up. The butter chicken linguine is my favorite. Good place to book corporate events and Staff are always friendly and service is reliable. Also the basement has great décor.
A great stage with Live Music. You are greeted with smiles and well prepared food. A fresh selection of perfectly seasoned tastes. Definitely makes you want to return to try another selection from the menu.
Renovations have made this spot much more accessible for live music. A change in management has brought some local beers to tap and the staff are uber friendly. Definitely looking forward to visiting again!
A filthy place meant for 18 years olds. And even then, I have no idea why anyone would go here. Really weird place. Plenty of much better places out there. Am sure this place will be out of business soon.
W had the worst table we were basically out the door and the servers came to our table once to take our order and then never again. Had to go get our own cutlery, coffee and water. Will not be returning.
Went here during lunch for Big Taste of Calgary. Lobster bisque had good flavor with pieces of lobster. Seafood linguine pasta noodles were fresh and perfectly al dente. Cheesecake was delicious.
Why do you have to get searched more than you do going through international borders but at this club it was almost 1 swipe away from a cavity search .....this place was dead at 10 on a Saturday
Worst place never visit them . They arrange AMG parties where there is always fights. Worst people come to AMG parties. AMG people are morons and just arrange fights in their parties. Ban AMG
We had an absolutely amazing event The Red Carpet Gala of Calgary European Film Festival at AURA. The food, service, stage, sound were great! We'll do it again next year! Thank you AURA!
The lay out of the venue is great. The sound perfect. Had a blast at the Jezus Chrysler show on April 25th. More band should consider this venue and this venue should consider more bands
Exceptional management. We put on an event at Junction and couldn't have been happier with the experience. If there is an event going on at junction I highly recommend checking it out
Great customer service, food was delicious and we didn't have to wait long. Awesome looking venue, both upstairs and down, for parties and events. Looking forward to going again!
It’s a great place to have a function. The performers at this event used the stage to their advantage. The best that I saw was Hypnotist extraordinaire Chris Barry seen below.
Horrible. Was there for 80s video dance party - the DJ was great but the line up for a drink was over and hour long for the first several hours. Poorly run establishment
Hosted a show here last weekend. Awesome staff that are very helpful!! Decent drink specials. Venue offers live music and DJ's. Two levels with this venue as well.
The koo koo kangaroo event was quite fun for families. Would have been nicer if they had a few more drink options like a house wine or two.
Atmosphere: 5
Neat place with great sound system. Confusing layout though. Almost missed the entire show on Saturday as I was in the upper level instead of the lower.
I was at junction today for lunch with my co-workers, we tried the BIG TASTE menu, and we all really loved it. Great food and super friendly staff.
Tried this place for the first time during the big taste event. Very good atmosphere, friendly staff, and food is tasty and reasonably priced.
Not authentic 80's music Canadian style!! European DJ changed Queen to include rap and tripled the speed, VERY disappointing, won't be back!
A bit dark inside, but an interesting layout. The upstairs seating area gives you a cute of everything down below. Well set up for events.
I am glad I found this place, beautiful place with awesome live Jazz. Excellent Beef Seafood Linguine, for the price no can beat it...
Amazing place to chill. Usually great music on weekdays and some good shows in the mid of week as well. Super cheap and tasty food :)
Very very good food, friendliest staff members and great live music! Just lived it and can't wait to come back! Highly recommended!
Was a great place, a wee bit smaller then I was expecting but great vibes the staff were super happy and energetic! Would recommend
The bar staff charge different prices for drinks between the two floors and even at the same bar. Awful way to treat your patrons.
Two stages with great music and different atmospheres but both are awesome! Music is varied so everyone usually gets their genre!
Food is great , this is own by the same person who was in Hanover building before +15 collapse. Food service both are very good.
Good place for an evening out or a good lunch. Perfect for entertainment with a high stage and great sound system... Drop by!
Wide selection of quality food at more than reasonable prices. Looking forward to checking out their jazz nights on Thursday
Didn't have the chance to eat kitchen was close by 9pm But great music and atmosphere
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5
$20 cash cover but less than 20 people downstairs. Would be better if they eliminated the cover to have a better draw.
Good atmosphere with live music and above average affordable food. The stage setup is a bit awkward for larger crowd.
Great place to go and kick it for the evening!! Friendly staff, insane stereo and lighting, and good drink prices!!
Can't say it was exceptional but the foods were decent and price was reasonable. The service was also pretty good.
Music is great, atmosphere is great, drinks are fantastic, staff just dont pay much attention to what's happening
Had an amazing time, food was amazing! Staff warm and cared about our experience:) recommended for everyone.
Amazing place to get incredible emotions after hard week!! I’m going to become a frequent guest there!
The Stag is located perfectly to see it from any where you sit and its extremely cozy and welcoming.
Awesome Brunch with Great Jazz Music, We really enjoyed our Sunday afternoon at the Junction...
Had a great time..my friends with Philthy city put a show on and threw a killer party as always
My company had a retirement party there and it was handled very well. Good food and service.
No a good place to enjoy events. Bouncers let in drunk guys, whom were looking for problems.
The staff was amazing and the food was great. I can't wait to try the wings on Wednesday.
It is very beautiful and classy. A wonderful place to hold events and also to hang out
friendly staff. Was a great place until the extremely unfortunate shooting and death
The venue has kind of a weird layout but it was pretty okay and the music was great
Good service, food was great and the music puts the right touch to the place.
Great venue for music and a great place to eat! Friendly professional staff
Excellent food and great cocktails. Best ribs I've ever had! A hidden gem.
I go to the events. There is not much seating and sometimes no coat check.
This summer has been only fun times there! …
Cute little venue with a great vibe and super friendly staff
Been here on last Friday, good dj and nice dance floor.
Enjoyed goth and Depeche and cure night. Fun crowd.
