Had a cleaning with Liz yesterday and an exam with Dr. Tucker after my long time dentist started acting out of the norm with scheduling and consistently re-booking me. Liz was thorough with the cleaning and detailed with explanation in procedures. Liz was friendly, personable, and patient comfort centric. Dr. Tucker was friendly, and personable as well; he explained the clinical matters in detail. I left feeling that I had made a good choice in my dental care. I actually look forward to my return in six months for my semi annual cleaning. This establishment does not appear to be part of a chain, I am weary of chain dentists due to previous experience. Nicely Done AFD! *Update* Went in for my 6 month cleaning and to have a cavity filled that was postponed due to COVID outbreak. This team was beyond amazing, and courteous. Explained in detail every step of the way and made effort to educate me on my care and dental plan. I am truly happy to have chosen this dentist, the best part is the office is right down the street from my home. **Update** Went for another 6 month cleaning, and nothing has changed with this team. They are truly oustanding human beings, and have great chairside manner. I am so happy I chose this dentist office for my dental care. Liz was my hygentist again and did an outstanding job again! I always feel guilty eating or drinking after a cleaning. Thank you so much! **Update** Went again for a cleaning, going through a rough patch in my life so I had to be all smiles and act cool. Liz was extremely calming and definitely thorough yet again. It is nice to have someone who genuinely cares about the patient. Most places make you feel like cattle, AFD is not that place. Dr. Tucker is friendly and personable, and I will be back. I have had a nightmare dentists in the past, Dr. Tucker is not one to fear. 10/10 recommend!

If I didn't have a dire need to fill cavity and replace a large filling with a crown, I would have initially said an hour and half of drilling was "cruel and unusual punishment" BUT Dr Tucker and Assitant Jill not only made it bearable but kept me calm and with their caring kindness the time flew bye -in no time, I was heading home a happy patient. THANKS to such a professional team. Last week when I was there I was feeling weak, as I entered today, each team member asked me how I felt today. What a "Family Team" ! I’ve been going to Austin Family Dentist since 2017, and after my experience today, I’m now in search of a new dentist. I went in for a routine check-up, and wanted to see about getting my teeth whitened. I had braces several years ago and had always noticed minor staining to my teeth since my braces were removed. When I asked Dr. Tucker about my options he seemed perplexed, and proceeded to tell me he could offer no resolution for whitening my teeth and I would probably have stained teeth for the rest of my life. His exact words were “I’m going to have to seek a second opinion for teeth whitening for stained teeth”. I was shocked to say the least, and couldn’t help but think “This dentist with 7+ years of schooling who is probably making $200,000/year can’t recommend how I should go about whitening my teeth…” Hearing there was no solution naturally caused me to breakdown in tears. I almost felt as if Dr. Tucker didn’t even want to bother with me. And to add insult to injury Dr. Tucker didn’t even offer me a tissue when I started to cry - He just continued watching me wipe my tears on my shirt, and said “We will give you a call if we think of any way to whitening your teeth”. I feel bamboozled, like I’ve been going to a dentist with no knowledge of teeth, and completely caught off guard with the lack of sympathy for my concerns. If anyone should know how to properly whiten teeth, it should be a dentist (and one who doesn’t need a second opinion). So if you’ve made it this far in my review, please feel free to pass along new dentist recommendations because I now need a new one.

I have been going to Dr. Brian Tucker for some time now, words cannot express how wonderful it is to finally have a dentist that actually cares about his patients. From childhood to well into my 50's I've had an overwhelming fear and anxiety about going to the dentist. When I went to Dr. Tucker, that all went away! He always ask if I have any concerns or questions before he begins. He's not just another dentist putting us on a conveyor belt getting us in and out immediately. Now when I go, I feel as if I'm going to go visit friends and I no longer experience anxiety .This is my Dental home now, and I trust Dr. Brian Tucker very much. The office has a very comfortable welcoming environment about it. The staff really treats you as if they have known you for a long time. I would hang out there after the appointment if I could, just to visit. Jennifer is absolutely awesome as well, she is very knowledgeable, kind and always willing to help. I could go down the list and speak well of everyone, the bottom line is...………...There is no reason to go anywhere else, this is the place to be. The best dentist ever, great staff and perfect hours. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Brian Tucker! They deserve 20 stars!

I've been here a few times and also written a yelp review but I thought my experiences warranted a review on here as well. The staff has always been very friendly, accommodating, and professional with me and the dental work itself is top notch. Also it's very clean which is HUGE for me. I have to say that I was a bit surprised to see a one star review on here. People have a right to their opinion or to not use a dentist/doctor (that's totally their choice) but nobody deserves to be cursed at when they're just trying to do their job. I work for an medical software company and travel to different medical offices every week, and I can say that most of the staff employed in these places are such dedicated, hard-working people yet they're constantly being abused for things that are beyond their control. It's just a pet peeve of mine and I wanted to stand up for the incredibly nice people that work in this particular office. My suggestion is to pay attention to the overwhelmingly positive reviews and go check them out if you need a dentist. You won't regret it.

Had a great new patient visit with Dr. Brian Tucker this morning. In 2015 I had a upper posterior molar amalgam filling that was replaced by another dentist. This filling came out this past weekend and left me with a very vulnerable molar. I was fortunate to get in to see Dr. Tucker as a new patient relatively quickly. After getting my history and doing an exam, he went over the options and for me a crown ended up being the best. From there, he and Jill, his dental assistant, took great care of me and got a temporary crown in place in a very expeditious manner. The anesthesia was done well, first a topical, and then more targeted injections--I didn't feel any sensitivity during the procedure even though the nerve root was very close to where they were working. Importantly, I felt very comfortable with the precautions they were taking with their staff and patients considering the ongoing pandemic. Excellent experience. Look forward to going back in a couple weeks to get my permanent crown placed.

I called Austin Family Dentist on a Tuesday morning looking for a same day appointment because my crown had fallen off of my molar on Christmas day (2 day's earlier) and my dentist's office was closed for the week. Austin Family Dentist was able to squeeze me in. Dr. Kieschnick and her tech were so nice and professional. They fixed me right up. And the cost was not astronomical, either. I believe it was $242 which included an X-ray to make sure my tooth was okay before they reattached the crown. Oh, and the staff up front was very nice and patient. I called three times because my GPS took me to the wrong place, I couldn't find their building and then I forgot to bring the paper that had their office number on it and had to call again. Suffice it to say I was a pill and they were very sweet about it.

Dr. Tucker and his team are great! I had a root canal and multiple fillings done and they were super professional with their treatments and their covid precautions. As I’m sure many people can relate, trips to the dentist can be daunting but they made the experience so much more bearable! In particular Jennifer at the front desk is really personable and friendly! She even went so far as to squeeze me in for my procedures earlier than anticipated because I was going to lose my insurance. Jill was also great! She made sure I was comfortable during the procedures and answered all my questions with patience. Dr. Tucker also proved really accommodating and was gentle during his procedures and remedied any pain I was experiencing immediately. I would 100% recommend them to anyone in need of a dentist!

I am a retired Dental Technician ( photo is of ceramic crowns I made for myself a long time ago). My Wife and I started the initial visit with Dr Tucker under our new insurance network compliant plan. From the reception handled by J and R ,we felt right at home. The hygienists M and L were very careful and observant. Dr Tucker's evaluations were very thorough. My Wife also had a crown placement with J assisting, which in my opinion was a great job. The anxiety was easily overcome by the hospitable, clean and professional behavior of this office. I am sorry to say as much as we loved this office, 2022 they no longer accept : Aetna Medicare Premier Plan (HMO). So we're off to parts unknown as a result of retirement. May the farce be with us.

I'm so glad to have found the Austin Family Dentist practice and HIGHLY recommend them to everyone! I've been a patient for about a year now and am extremely pleased with the consistently high quality level of care and attention to detail from everyone at Austin Family Dentist; from scheduling/check in with Jennifer and Robert, to dental cleaning (....and cavity filling) with Dr. Kieschnick and Pat, every procedure or question was answered thoroughly and patiently. Dr. Tucker and the team were even able to accommodate an emergency appointment for a new client on very short notice (a family member called late Sunday afternoon and less than 2 hours later was able to secure an appointment for first thing Monday morning)!

My experience with Dr. Tucker and his staff has been great. They were super helpful with dealing with my insurance -- made calls to make sure I would be covered as expected. They are very professional, nice and have a great office environment. Dr. Tucker spent time with me to answer any questions, explained the process (implant and crown), and did not try to sell me any services he did not think I needed. The hygienist was thorough and very nice. They called me the next day to make sure I was not having any issues after my procedure (I wasn't!).I recently moved from Dallas and wasn't sure who to choose. Dr. Tucker was on my insurance plan and had great ratings, so I am happy to add to those!

I've been going here for about 7 years now, and would highly recommend. I've always had friendly, competent service with as minimal pain possible for the circumstances. I also appreciate the email and text reminders of appointments. I had a lot of problems with incompetent work from my previous dentist in another state before I moved here, some of which I didn't realize until they found and fixed the problems here. Multiple fillings that fell out, other fillings that had cavities left behind them so needed re-done, a real mess. The folks at Austin Family Dentist fixed all those messes, and several years later I haven't had a single problem with any of the work they did.

I really love this practice! Before I found them, I had been to several other practices around Austin. With one previous dentist, I believed I was being oversold crowns that I didn't need. This isn't the case at Austin Family Dentist. When I informed them of the previous diagnosis, they looked at my teeth and didn't see the need for that amount of work, although they were going to watch two teeth for the potential of a future crown - that was four years ago and I still don't need those crowns. I have always felt that the staff and doctors are extremely professional. The practice is easily accessible, just off Mopac in North Austin with plenty of parking.

Everyone is so nice and answers all my questions,. I have been coming here for years! Thanks for your kind and gentle ways. This is the best medical office in town. Always willing to answer questions and assist in every way. The pandemic rules were followed to the letter and a special mouth wash was provided prior to entering the clinic room where the procedures take place. It was easy to schedule my next appointment .Thanks everyone. Dr. Tucker was so kind and patient with me and answered all my questions and I had a lot. ! I felt great and had no problems afterward! Very efficient in every way. Thanks again!!! Every thing was great again today.

Dr. Tucker is a life saver. Literally. He did some corrective work for me after an unfortunate mishandling of my oral health from prior care. Once I arrived at AFD and met Dr. Tucker, I knew I was in good hands. They are extremely diligent and detail oriented. This is exactly what you want from your dentist. Dr. Tucker stuck with me through over 2 years of care to address and perfect my dental implants. Having just had my implants installed, they look amazing and feel great. I cannot thank Dr. Tucker and his staff enough. 100/5 stars. Not to mention, Dr. T and his staff are extremely personable and make the appointments go by fast!

Been a client of Dr. Brian Tucker for many years and also his new partner of several years, Dr. Fossum. Both are wonderful dentists who take your questions and concerns seriously, and the front office staff has never been anything but wonderful. competent, and friendly. Today, I had 3 cavities and Dr. Fossum worked on me this morning (2nd experience with Dr. Fossum). The numbing medicines wore off and like last time, I can't tell that I had anything worked on ... no awkward bites, no discomforts, etc. I've had other dentist at other offices where my bite was not right or I was in pain for months. These doctors do good work.

Had a great visit to Dr. Tucker's office, as always! Dr. Tucker is an extraordinary dentist, he asks appropriate questions and then listens to what the patient has to say. He is focused on dental care of his patients. All staff members are very personable and friendly as well. The positive atmosphere is infectious! His office provides consistently great service,... always with a smile. Everyone is very understanding of my needs and special dental issues / conditions. They are also very flexible with scheduling which makes it easier to fit appointments into my calendar. Great job! Highly recommended!

As a new resident of Austin, I was very fortunate to find Austin Family Dentist. Dr. Tucker seems to be very skilled with a drill and his bent toward perfection assures that as a patient you will receive a very high quality of care. He also makes sure that the pain during the procedure is well managed. Dr. Tucker is very kind. His staff is also helpful and caring and listen to concerns and questions. As with most people, I dreaded going to the dentist for a long time, so much so that I neglected my dental health to the point I needed urgent attention. I chose Dr. Tucker because his office, at the time, was around the corner from where I lived and it's honestly one of the best choices I've made. He's done miracles with my teeth, I've never felt pressured to do elective procedures (which has happened at other places I've gone to), and the staff around him are great to work with. Ten'ish years later and I keep coming back, I cannot recommend AFD enough.

I have been going to see Dr. Brian Tucker for about 5 years now and they have been fantastic! I have had bad experiences with some places before but the staff here is great. They not only do great work on my teeth but they take time to ask about my family and seem to genuinely care about all of their patients. That extra mile means a lot to me. I also have had several teeth issues that have risen over the years and they have always been very supportive and have never been critical or judgmental to me. I would highly recommend them if you are looking.

When I moved from out of state years ago, I kept flying back to my old dentist that I had for 20+ years just because I never thought I would ever find a dentist like her again. Trying to coordinate traveling, dental appointments, and work was too much, so I decided I would search for a dentist here in Austin. So happy that I found Dr.Tucker and his team. This was a really pleasant experience for not having gone to the dentist for 2.5 years due to lack of insurance. I was a bit nervous, as I have had bad dental experiences in the past, including a bad filling done, and from the front desk, to my dental hygienist, to the doctor making time to getting some cavities filled in for me and explain every step of the way, everyone was great. You can tell the staff really gets along with each other and communicates well with the patients. I'm just glad to have found a new place to consistently go to now!

I love this practice. Sadly, I have had a lot of dental work over the years.... and I have never felt safer with a dentist. This goes for Covid times too. This AM, I had an emergengy appointment (they fit me in within a very short amount of time for a sudden toothache) and the environment felt very safe regarding covid precautions. This is coming from a peron who has been extremely strict since March. Then, it turns out I didn't need a big procedure done and I went home without a big fuss. Really they are great. highly recommend.

I am quite happy with the Dentists at Austin Family Dentist. I feel I am getting taken care of each time I go for a checkup. I will say that there is not much flexibility for me when it comes to scheduling follow up appointments. The last two times I have scheduled a follow up, I am told the date for the appointment. I ask if there are any other days and times available. I am told No. I have overheard other patients have an options of days for their appointments. It would be nice to have some flexibility with scheduling.

My dental hygienist was very thorough and explained everything. The Dentist was so nice and patient. Prioritized dental work that needed done. Explained everything and was very patient. Im so glad I found this group!! I am so happy with the care and service I get from this group every time I go! It has taken me years to find a dental group that I am completely satisfied with. Dr. K is so amazing with the work she does. Her assistants...the hygienists...and the office staff are simply the best!

I am not a fan of the dentist. In fact, I hate the dentist. I am usually so nervous I have to medicate myself to even make it into the chair. And while that fear persists, somehow Dr. Tucker and his staff have made me enjoy the dentist! For the first time in my life I haven’t had absolutely sky high blood pressure before dental work. They are kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. Dr. Tucker doesn’t use shame based dentistry and explains what needs to be done in an understandable way.

No one enjoys going to the dentist. That being said, because of their care and attention, my visits are less often and with much less stress. I recently needed some attention to some old fillings that had developed decay around them and needed to be removed and replaced. In less than an hour, Dr. Tucker completed the task with very little discomfort. I am so pleased with his practice that it's not as much a problem as it has been in the past for me. Thank you all.

Friendly, efficient, thorough, and caring dental practice. They emphasize preventative home care and always ask if you have any questions. I appreciate that Dr. Tucker is conservative in treatment plan recommendations, recommending only what treatment is really needed. Very happy right now! I have had some bad experiences with dentists in the past. So bad that I was scared to go to another dentist. After being referred here by my friend, I was ready to go back and I regret nothing! The staff from reception to dentist is friendly and understanding. They take the time to explain everything they are going to do. The actual work on my mouth was gentle! I am no longer afraid of being traumatized when going to the dentist.

They are great. Broke a crown and of course things are never simple with me and some other problems showed up that Dr. Tucker took care of. He has a gentle touch and if you are one of those who gets really stressed out at the dentist office, he’s the one to go to. Debbie was my dental hygienist this morning. She is wonderful. Patient, kind, but also very honest. I'm not the type who likes dentists who just tell me I'm doing a good job brushing and flossing and then move on. Debbie was very honest with her assessment, showed me a new product to use (even went to the website so I could buy it) because the flosser I'm using now isn't doing its job, and took her time to teach me how to use it. 5 stars.

It all started with a chipped tooth. I called AFD initially because of a recommendation from my sister. They were so kind to see me the same day. The staff was professional and nice. Dr Fossum explained everything and quickly fixed my tooth. I was so worried that the tooth would become painful if I had to wait over the weekend. I will definitely be going back! The office is nice, clean, and easy to get to. Thanks again team!

My first time patient experience did not disappoint! The dental hygienist tool skill mastery impressed me and her touch was gentle and her attention unwavering. Regarding what the dentist saw and recommended, Dr. Tucker asked how much information I was interested in then proceeded to educate me with the perfect amount of details leaving me feeling informed, included and comfortable with the recommendations proposed.

The other day I woke up at 7 am with the left side of my face completely. By 8:30 that very same day, I had an appointment. I left with a prescription for the swelling and made a follow up appointment for an extraction. The nurses and The Dr handled me with such care and comfort, I wasn't ashamed when I left. I have had so many bad experiences in the past with dentists. But this dental office went above and beyond.

This was my first time to visit but they were recommended by my daughter and her family. The office was everything she said it would be and I was very happy with all the services and staff. This will be my dentist also. Update 6/29/18 - First time to have a filling at this office and they were sure that I was comfortable and numb. Checked with me several times to be sure I was ok. Staff and doctors are wonderful.

I had my first (and hopefully last) root canal done here and I really appreciated Dr. Tucker regularly checking in with me to see how I felt and if I had any questions. They made sure I was comfortable and it was a surprisingly easy and painless procedure thanks to the efforts of the staff. Everyone is so friendly and pleasant, probably the best experience I’ve had with a dentist. Highly recommended

I was referred to Dr. Tucker by my incredible endodontist Dr. Amin for an emergency tooth extraction. Dr. Tucker’s office was incredible- scheduling me in quickly and treating me so kindly. The office was amazing and helped calm my nerves!! For meeting a dentist for the first time he pulled a tooth quickly and pain free. Highly recommend this office for a general dentist and for emergency situations! :)

Hands down the best dentist and dental staff in Texas. They treat you like family. I've never felt like a number or just a patient. They actually care about my experience before, during, and after my appointment. I live in Driftwood, TX now, it is almost 50 min to drive to Far West, but that doesn't even phase me! I'll deal with crazy Austin traffic for the awesome experience. That is how good they are!

Heading into retirement, my wife and I decided to consolidate to one, younger dentist. Dr. Tucker was recommended by a friend. Both of us had excellent experiences with Dr. Tucker and with the full staff. Everything was professional, caring, and competent. We both required dental work on top of our check-ups, and were very pleased with our outcomes. We believe we've found our dentist for good.

I've had some negative experiences with other dentists in the past, but Austin Family Dentist was really great. The hygienist (Ying I believe her name was) was terrific and very sweet. Dr. Fossum was really nice, and gave clear & concise recommendations without making me feel like I was being pressured into getting unnecessary work done. I finally feel like I've found "my" dentist office.

I had a broken wisdom tooth with an exposed nerve that needed to get pulled. My regular Dentist could not get me in until next week. Dr. Tucker was able to get me in the next day. He was very personable, and professional. Made quick work of that broken tooth at an affordable price. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others, or go to him any time my regular Dentist can't get me in.

I love this group! My temporary crown fell out on a Friday night so I called and left a voicemail not really expecting to hear back until Monday, but to my surprise Dr. Tucker returned my call the next morning! He was able to fit me in his schedule asap! I have been a patient here for years and am always pleased with every visit. Everyone is always so professional and attentive.

I had a horrible toothache that I knew required extraction and when I called Dr. Tucker’s Office office team did everything possible to get me in and get it taken care of. Fossum and Tucker have given me the best service and are ever so gentle with me. We all have anxieties. They work diligently to put me at ease and trust them. I am never disappointed. They are my A team.

I have been going to Austin Family Dentist for almost 15 years now and I can't imagine going anywhere else. The staff is amazing and I consider them friends. The way they care about your dental health and you as an individual is amazing and I have not experienced this anywhere else. I highly recommend Austin Family Dentist to everyone.

The staff were very courteous, well educated, very informative, and sincerely nice. They were very attentive to ensuring the flow of the office went well despite my mistake of being late for my first appointment by 20 minutes. They were so sweet and accommodating. The staff at the front is friendly and accommodating, the place is clean, and Dr. Fossum is gentle and patient. If you need your chompers cleaned or have to get any work done, give them a call.

I have liked the professionalism and friendliness of the entire staff. Today my dental assistant was Pat, who explained what my condition is called and described what was happening clearly. Dr. Sara Kieschnick did a thorough diagnosis and asked twice if I had any questions. I did, and she answered them clearly.

I called on a Friday morning with a crown that had broken off one of my front teeth. We were leaving Tuesday for a vacation, and they got me in & made me a temporary crown. The staff was professional, but fun. And, when I return from vacation they’ll have my new crown ready to go!

I've been going here for years and love it. I've only ever needed cleanings... they've never suggested I get any unnecessary work done. There's always a few teeth to "watch" but these same teeth another dentist might immediately jump to putting in fillings just to make some money.

I Showed up at 6:45 it was really late and they were still able to see me and do my check up. The Staff that saw me and did my check up and cleaning was Verenice and she was very professional and super helpful and nice was a great experience.

The best dental clinic I ever visit. I went there for cleaning. Their office is very nice and has a good view. Clinic is clean. Equipment is fairly new. Their staff is very responsive. I like both my hygienist and dentist. Really recommended.
